Absolutely unbelievable, New Zealand couldn’t have dreamed of a more deserving champion!

  2. Wonderful ambassador for the sport. Well deserved Lydia

It’s crazy to think that if she never earned that one point needed that she wouldn’t be in the LPGA Hall of Fame with the career she’s had.

TBH, I wasn’t terribly excited about either the golf events for the Olympics. Both of them were really good though. This feels like it was the first normal Olympics where all the players that could play did play. 2016 had Zika and a bunch of dropouts. Tokyo was still in the pandemic. This was the first normal one and it seemed like both the men and women really wanted to win it badly. If that’s going to be the case moving forward then Olympic golf will continue to get even better – especially with a mixed team event that’s been rumored.

  5. Fun fact: She’s younger than Scottie Scheffler

At 27, Lydia Ko becomes the youngest player to qualify for the LPGA Hall of Fame under its current criteria (since 1998). She’s the 35th player to enter the Hall.

Ko has won Gold, Silver, and Bronze at the Olympics. She is the only golfer (men or women) to have won multiple medals.

  7. Amazing. Congrats to Lydia. What an awesome person.

And congrats to New Zealand and all the wonderful people there.

Legend. She’s such a stud. A full set of medals is an incredible achievement. And she’s only 27.

  9. Congrats to her, great golf all week. Seems like she’d have been into the HOF anyway but well deserved

Lydia deserved that, what a champ! And that’s the 8th gold medal for NZ !! I m always impressed by how high NZ punch above their weight (by population). They are great at rugby, but in anything they participate in, they complete well and in great spirits, and are always respectful.

Happy for Lydia and for the Kiwi camp!! Congratulations!!

I met her at the marathon championship in Toledo back in 2017. Having gone to high school in Auckland, I talked to her about that and found out her sister, who I also then met, and I not only went to the same high school but our pictures were next to each other in the year book. Was absolutely crazy

Wow… No spoiler alert or anything… Guess I should have been on watching it live if I didn’t want to be surprised.

  13. Nelly folded like a chair. Mistake making machine.

She is amazing and was a joy to watch in person at the midland Dow tournament

Wasn’t going to watch down here in NZ but got wrapped up in the final round, ending at 4am. Bit shaky on the back 9 but extremely proud, and capped a great Olympics for us.

She’s been my favorite for years! Good for her. I wasn’t aware that the Olympics counted towards the Hall but that’s even better!

  17. Also worth noting, as a German I was so stoked to watch Esther Henseleit absolutely crush the last round to get herself a silver medal. Ko was obviously dominant, but that run from Henseleit was pure fun!

Clutch as hell. Congrats to Lydsko. We shared a moment once, don’t like to talk about it.
