The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N is one of the most powerful small EVs you can buy in 2024! But is it any match for the all-new Tesla Model 3 Performance?

Well, they’re about to go head-to-head over the quarter-mile to find out! But first, let’s take a look at the performance stats.

Starting with the Hyundai, it’s powered by two electric motors which combine to produce 650hp and 770Nm of torque. Due to the two motors, it has four-wheel drive, and it weighs in at 2,235kg. As new, an IONIQ 5 N costs around £65,000.

Next up we have the Tesla. It also has two motors, so just like the Hyundai, it has four-wheel drive. The two motors combine to produce 460hp and 650Nm of torque, and this new Tesla tips the scales at 1,839kg. From new, it costs around £60,000.

So the Hyundai clearly has more power, but will it have enough to beat the all-conquering Tesla? There’s only one way to find out for sure… LET’S RACE!

  1. Overla Tesla is electric car king but that Hyundai N looks absolutely beautiful. Love the 80’s retro futuristic it’s literally my style. I really like it if it has a good range I will buy one
Edit: Tesla model 3 should’ve been a hatch

  2. Thank you for doing the test i wanted to see the most. The 5N has had my attention since it's announcement and this video has solidified my decision to get one in the future.

  3. The fact they forgot to put the M3P in track mode and then use the old model, not the new 2024 model. Epic fail.

  4. Do someone knows if the Tesla stayed in track mode or not ? Track mode isn't designed for drag races and reduces power, and a lot of youtubers seems to make this mistake.

  5. Performance is similar, braking a bit better for the Tesla .. but both good. I’d buy the Tesla for sure though .. no way would I buy a car without a good autopilot and no one but Tesla has an autopilot that actually works on all roads .. including secondary roads .. let alone the new FSD capabilities. Nice showing for the Hyundai, but it is more expensive and seems to offer less .. the real loser here is ICE cars.

  6. Something about this video stinks. Everywhere else i read the model 3 wins .3 to .4 seconds. Me thinks they ran the model 3 battery down or something.

Edit: also the next car enthusiast journalist that says the fake gears is cool should be beaten publically. It's not cool. It's slower and stupid because old people can't handle change, so they think it needs to make noise and have shift points. You wouldn't think it was cool if the new corvette paused it's shift to make it hit harder. you'd say this is just dumb, just let the dual clutch do it's thing. It's the exact same level of stupid here.

  7. Do the race of the same cars. Aventador svj vs Aventador svj
    E63s vs E63s
    C7 ZR1 vs C7 ZR1
    Turbo S vs Turbo S…
    And many more…
    Same engine, same power…

  8. Estavas com pena do tesla? Posso saber porque não desligas te o modo imitação de combustão ele no modo normal e mais potente

  9. Matt Watson videos are getting a little predictable now. He doesn't like to lose so basically what car is he sitting in? There is your winner.

  10. I never understand when one car beats another, but the quarter mile is Exactley the same time !!! On another note .. Tesla fan boys be like 🤐

  11. European Model 3 Performance has less horsepower than US version because it uses a different battery pack. US version of the Model 3 Performance would smash the Ionic 5N

  12. 11.3?!! Both of those cars are supposed to run at least 11.0-10.9 what was the state of charge on each? Any preconditioning the battery?

  13. That Hyundai is pretty impressive and fast! Pretty cool how you can do that manual mode even if it's slower in that mode.
