His name s Tony Khan, and he’s an addict.

His addiction? Is free agency. And when he even gets a smell of a contract, gets weak. If you’re a wrestler who just got released from they contract, it triggers an uncontrollable sensation in Tony Khan that compels him to sign you. There’s no way around it. Tony Khan doesn’t focus on building up the talent he has end evolving them to grow with the audience. Instead, everybody pretty much keeps to the status quo, and is liable to be bumped from the top of the card in favor of a former WWE star. Or even a McMahon.

Shane McMahon has become the latest free agent subject to speculation of AEW rumors after having a private meting with Tony Khan. One that somehow leaked on the Wednesday Dynamite the week of the Olympics. Of course, the internet speculation strategy fell right on its face because Dynamite did just over 600,000 viewers for another hot-shot show with big matches and limited stories.

Get it how you live.

Today, we’re going to talk about AEW’s talks with Shane McMahon, why they’ll never gain an identity by chasing every former WWE star who becomes free and why Shane McMahon is the last thing AEW needs, even if he’s actually interested in coming to Jacksonville, which I’m sorry, it doesn’t sound like he is.

One of AEW’s many flaws is they’ve stunted the growth of a lot of their homegrown talent. By now, I figured a lot of Day 1’s like Wardlow, Sammy Guevara, Darby Allin and Hangman Page would be Megastars and big movers. They’re not. All the stars are mentioned come in and out with no ascension. Between the four pillars, there has been one world championship win and more drama than success. Think of the Brawl In, and the Sammy Suspension and the MJF-Britt Baker Drama. Those all happened with Pillars. And though Darby Allin is Drama free, he’s a walking injury because he insists on doing dangerous spots and Tony Khan doesn’t have the authority to stop him.

Through five years as AEW President and CEO, I can safely say Tony Khan is also an awful GM. He has no rhyme or reason for why he signs anybody. He uses his checkbook to create headlines. Khan signed Okada, and Okada now has the best gig in wrestling. Take a bump or two every few weeks, do comedy and get paid more than just about anybody in the business. Mercedes Mone barely wrestles on TV, but you’d never know it by her checkbook. Other free agent signings include the now-injured Adam Copeland-get well soon-Will Ospreay, who’s trying his best, Swerve Strickland, Bryan Danielson, Keith Lee, Saraya, Christian, Jay White, Miro, Deonna Purrazzo, Mariah May, and that’s just the short list.

Between its own homegrown signings and several classes of free agency, AEW treats free agents the way a junkie treats crack. When AEW announces a new free agent, they shouldn’t be standing in front of a brick wall, they should arrive in a paper bag.

  1. I think ADW needs a sign either Scott D'Amour or Shane McMahon to help their wrestlers promote better better better and help the others out and stop Tony calm from hiring every free agent he thinks it's going to be good because half of them aren't like Sasha Banks or whatever you want to call her she's a she's nothing😅😂

  2. This is the dumbest thought in wrestling. They are a wrestling free agent. Thats like saying a football team shouldn’t sign free agents. Dumb AF

  3. And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.
    —John 3:16

Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.
    — Acts 3:19

If you’re in North America, please go check out any of the churches available to you: PCA, OPC, Rpcna, Urcna, or a canrc church
(These are conservative and actual Reformed/Presbyterian churches.)

If you’re Scottish, I recommend the Free Church of Scotland and the APC

If you’re English I recommend the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in England & Wales and the Free Church of England

Also online you can look up church finders for each of the groups, it will show you locations

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

  4. I’d argue AEW lost the moral high ground when they hired ric flair. Makes his Harvey Weinstein of wrestling comments even more ironic

  5. I'd rather to see him Booking instead of wrestling, the best choice would be him as a GM or Co-President , if he decides to wrestle , the AEW would be worst than ever

  6. I have an idea , put Christopher Daniels to book guide Rampage and Shane to Dynamite and Collision , sometimes appearing whenever he wants and still book a match and also create storylines , he can do the same as we wanted in 2016 when he returned

  7. I think Tony tries to buy free agents to keep his product fresh, but you can keep your product fresh by simply doing good booking

  8. AEW needs to push the reset button, cut the roster and get rid of at least half the belts, but it won't happen as long as Tony is in charge. This company is full of potential, good wrestlers that I like, great wrestlers that I love and a gigantic bunch of dorks I have zero interest in and the tiny fanbase seems to be blind to all the obvious flaws, I don't get it.
Let Shane buy the company and do the Invasion 2.0 😂

  9. Remember Tony Khan's interview with Chris Van Vliet where he discussed WCW and how he talked about what he believed one of the issues WCW had was a very large roster? Boy, the irony of that interview. Practice what you preach.

  10. Your forgetting about will hobbs as a star they should have build on even tho he's injured but if he was booked he would have been a huge star.

  11. Here’s a problem here. If AEW is gonna sign Shane McMahon, he has to be there for some kinda authority figure role. But the problem is, TK has no idea how to tell no kinda story whatsoever on his product. You have all that great talent and yet you have zero quality? Come on man get it up and let someone take over

  12. I’ve said from the moment that Shane was being linked to AEW that the ONLY way you bring him in is to help with running the company – that’s it!

Shane would be an asset if he was brought into an Executive role behind the scenes to help AEW with improving the Production, with Venue booking, with Merchandising, with Advertising partnerships and with helping to have more of a wider market appeal to grow their audience.

If that was the role he was brought in to, it could be beneficial. But Tony Khan is a control freak who doesn’t know how to run a business. He’s running a niche wrestling show for a small niche market

  13. Okada is the greatest worker in the world…
He certainly worked Tony into a plum contract for little work. He’s the Lesnar of AEW, minus the allegedly icky creepy stuff.

  14. Bro U just hating AEW.. wwe does the same thing they got most their superstars from ring of honor and most of their stars never were wrestlers they were bodybuilder and football players .when they stop signing indies from 2020-2022 there produce went down really bad AEW gets indies who love wrestling not entertainment. Wwe will always be entertainment

  15. I wouldn't blame Tony specifically for the failures of the pillars. Three of them have shown themselves to be dumb as bricks in varying different ways and the other is flailing because he's trying to put the company on his back and is just not ready for that role at his age and experience. Most of the talent, just ain,t it. Khan's booking it universally bad and doesn't help anyone.

  16. I don't care if Shane McMahon goes to AEW I really don't at the end of the day that man is not going to move the needle one bit further than where it is now with Tony, Khan should be doing right now is building younger stars for the company. Not going into free agency and getting WWE stars

  17. You call Tony an addict and yet wwe does the same thing while punk was in aew triple h was having secret mtgs with him. How many of the new wwe home grown talent have reached the top . If you don't like aew don't watch it. Quit your whining . How about you start your own promotion lets see how good you can do

  18. Honestly at this point I’m just sick of seeing WWE Stars at the Top in AEW, maybe 1 or 2 but here and there but come on now.
