Shane Lowry launches into furious X-rated rant at a cameraman after smashing a shot into the trees

Shane Lowry bounced back from his error to finish the day at seven-under par
He could be heard ordering the cameraman to go away before cursing at himself

Shane Lowry was furious with a cameraman after hooking his ball into the trees during the second round of the British Open.

The Irishman concluded yesterday’s opening day just one shot off the lead at five-under par behind England’s Daniel Brown.

Playing earlier this morning, Lowry was stellar as he reached seven-under par on the front nine, but it was all to change as he reached the infamous 11th hole.

Known for having a set of train tracks running alongside the right of the fairway – which is where Rory McIlroy hit his ball into yesterday – Lowry duck hooked his second shot into a set of gorse bushes after thick rough grabbed hold of his club.

As he watched his ball sail into trouble, Lowry snapped at a nearby cameraman, saying: ‘As I was over the ball I could just see you putting your f—kin’ camera up. Just get outta the way. Just get back there. F—k sake!’

For many, it may have been enough to collapse their round, but Lowry steadied the ship responding with a birdie not long after.

He then finished round with a birdie at the dangerous 18th hole to set the clubhouse lead at -7.

This afternoon will see the likes of Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy battle the conditions in order to make the cut.

Higher winds are expected later in the afternoon after there was a period of calm for this morning’s earlier starters.
