Aim Your Putter Like An Olympia Archer – Putting At The TaylorMade Driving Relief Skins Match

All four golfers at the TaylorMade Driving Relief charity skins match at Seminole Golf Club used similar pre-shot routines for putting by aiming their putters early in their routines. After aiming the putter, the player finished taking a stance, and then put the putter in motion.

Aiming a putter before complete stabilization of all the golfer’s joints that can directly influence the stroke, leaves the stroke vulnerable to starting a ball off line. It also can distract the player from focusing on distance control, and force applied to a stroke, if they are concerned about alignment during a stroke.

In Olympic Archery, the target is too far away for the archer to aim an arrow straight at the target. The arrow must be arched in the air to be able to travel the required distance. The final aiming step for the archer is to judge the height of their shot. All of the joints in the archer have been stabilized before taking final aim. More consistent results in putting can be had by stabilizing all the major joints in the golfer before taking final aim.
