“The GT line represents a monumental leap forward for Titleist driver design and engineering,” says Stephanie Luttrell, Director of Titleist Metalwood Product Development. “Our advancements in material, construction, shaping, and design have culminated in the highest-performing driver we have ever made.”

The GT2 is crafted for speed and forgiveness with a higher-MOI setup. The GT3 offers fine-tuned speed and control, maximizing distance and optimizing flight. 1. LOL…. TSR second hand buying season is on indeed!!! Thanks Mark! You’re one of the few reviewers doing us all a public service. Always appreciate your views!

  2. Mark, well done on mentioning price. I’ve watched several videos now on the GT release and no one mentioned it. This is the 4th consecutive price increase from Titleist, with no negative repercussions, why do you think Titleist gets away with it while other brands are criticised for it?

  3. I have 2016 version, looking for upgrade and after this review I’m still not convinced to switch. Will be really any benefit over my 917D2 ?

  4. I stopped playing in '03 and just returned last year after a 20 year break, back then every year they promised 5-10yds with each new release so I figured we'd be going about 140yds further now than then? It's almost as if the marketing team's werent fully truthful… 🤣🤣

  5. Great review, Mark….did you use the same shaft for both new & old driver heads? Would it be more consistent to use the same shaft maybe……each looked like the shaft was different. I'm still gaming my trusty TSi2 and even though it's older, it's still very forgiving and long. I have been waiting for the TSr2 to drop a bit more in price in the Used Market, maybe now is the time to pull the trigger.

  6. Id love to know, and im not sure if Marks ever covered this. I have a driver 5 years old and it still performs fine. But is there a drop off in performance of the driver from the face hitting so many balls over time?

  7. Every year I assume drivers will get me an additional 1 yd through innovation. And besides, I only buy used models where someone has taken the sticker shock off

  8. Thanks for the review. If you’re going to “drive. GT2, GT3, or GT4, it should be a Porsche! LOL! Have a nice weekend.

  9. Drivers are crazy prices. I know players that play a lot of golf but can no way justify paying those sort of prices for a new club. With club memberships increasing in price as well its starting to look like golf is getting very exclusive again.

  10. This is the review and comparison I was hoping to see! I wonder if there is any improvement in dispersion for players with less consistent strike patterns- nothing really obvious for a good ball striker like Mr C. Not overly surprised there isn't a notable distance gain over the TSR.

  11. great looking things but surely they can't get longer because they can only go as far as the rules allow plus gone are the days i'm paying that money for a driver now! PS. what shoes are they mark look wicked

  12. Hey Mark…..did you get a chance to hit the TSR3 vs the GT3. There is hype about moving the channel (H1&2/T1&2) to the front on the GT3 instead where it was on the back for the TSR3. Would love your thoughts if so. Thank you Mark. Agree with others that you are the place to come to for the real info. Cheers!

  13. I started looking at Titleist because of the sound and the feel. I hate drivers that produce that loud high pitched metallic sound. I've always loved the more muted sound of the Titleist woods in general.

  14. With playing with the GT3/GT4 (note here my clubhead speed is about 125-131mph and Ball Speed 185-195mph), I noticed getting more distance / lower spin than the the TSR3 / TSi3. The fitter even said he hadn't noticed any improvement with people under that 171mph ball speed (I think this is average tour ball speed from trackman data?) mark from previous titleist generations. Which tends to suggest these clubs are aiming for a part of the market titleist was missing previously, noted with the weight being shifted more forward.

  15. It's time to let the Manufacturers off the leash for the amateur game and then there will be some equipment reviews worth watching!

  16. I have the TSR2, and purchased a premium aftermarket shaft for it, to boot. At 65 years old, I doubt any future improvements in driver technology that don't involve gunpowder will be of any benefit to me.

  17. I was fitted to a 4 but it was very neck and neck between 3 and 4, whereas the 2 was downright bad for me. I gotta admit, I felt very little difference between them and the stats were extremely sameish. Finally the fitter asked which one I thought looked better and I opted for the smaller one. Hope it all works out well.

  18. Great review Mark! No shame in the shiny newy, but also great to confirm that the numbers and on course testing are just saying that both generations are excellent clubs. Still gaming a SIM2 here with a quality shaft that fits my game but I always enjoy keeping an eye out on the new releases — thx for posting this honest review – cheers!

  19. Great looking but the price is obscene like all the big brands. Time to concentrate on Wilson, Cleveland and Mizuno. If I had a pro shop I’d dump the big four look after my members by offering great products at more reasonable prices, all these brands will offer clubs from a pro to a beginner. The best wedges for golfers is Cleveland by a country mile. The best selling ball in the UK for amateur average club members Srixon AD333. Simples! Great review though Mark keep them coming.

  20. Hey Mark, where can you buy those ASICS golf shoes? I cannot seem to source them here in the UK. They are not sold on the ASICS UK website. The one in the USA doesn’t ship internationally.

  21. Rocking a 915D and was looking to get into the TSR line. Never came around to it and now I think I'll just go with GT. Not because they are so much better (love actual on-course data, as seen here), but they are also not worse and it will probably keep the resale value a bit longer if I wanted to change later. I'll most likely stick with it for a long time though, and that makes the small saving of a TSR "marginal over years of play".
    GT2 here I come. I guess.

  22. For the centre hits, I have always struggled to understand, with the max of 1.5 smash factor, how could you make it longer. Sure, maybe more forgiving hence the off centre hits could go longer.

  23. Hi Mark, love your crazy golf mind and legitimacy in the videos. How does the manufacturer react to your reviews? As consumers we love your blunt honesty. As manufacturers I guess it doesn’t hurt them because your target segment is not the masses? Just curious..

  24. On another review i saw with maybe not as consistent As Mark he did see better results on off center hits with the GT driver which I think is also something that they are saying has been created with a higher MOI of the GT drivers. But for on center hits or close to that spot yes there is not much change aside from a bit duller sound now
