Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This YouTube channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!

I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.

I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!

On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

  1. Rick, you'd probably be better half way in-between the standard grip and Jumbomax XL…the Jumbomax Medium might be good to also test if you do Standard vs JM Medium vs JM XL

  2. I just put one on my driver. I have always had a struggle to not grip to hard, with this grip I do not do this. The result I have greatly reduced my slice and my hands and wrists don't get sore.
    I really like them.
Unfortunately they cost $37 Canadian here.

  3. I think you’ve selected the wrong JumboMax size. My hands are similar to yours in size and I used medium Ultralite JumboMax grips

  4. Why do you all try the XL? Surely you guys are aware they come in different sizes and that the fitting tool wouldn’t have you in an XL? Giving advice on who should and shouldn’t use them, when you’ve only ever hit the wrong size, which you actually quite liked is laughable!

  5. I use Jumbomax grips and will never go back to std grips. You should use the size that matches your glove size so the xl is too big

  6. The Jumbomax grips were a game changer for me. Better clubface control and less hook. More importantly my elbow pain improved and I can play more.

  7. Rick you should get a fitting with the jumbomax grips. Martin Borgmeier did and he raves about them now. I did as well and got fit for the str8 tech tour wrap x small (3/16) grips and I will never look back!

  8. As someone that tends to Slice/fade the ball. The jumbo grip mediums have been tremendous for me. Much less hand pain, much more consistent on the clubs I have I on, 3h, 3w, driver.

  9. XL is why it’s so dramatic. Using their Medium or Small (which is still bigger than traditional grips) would be more in line with your glove size. I hate when YouTubers “try” Bryson’s grip for click bait but then never try the Jumbomax grip that fits them. The XL is for a very specific person and that is all ever tried. Give the company justice and try what they say would be best for you on their fitting chart.

  10. I think you are using the same grip pressure with the jumbo's as you were with the standards. With bigger grips, you need to relax the grip pressure more and it will take all the tension out of the swing. I don't understand why more fitters don't fiddle with grip sizes during fittings. Fitters will change heads, lofts, lies and shafts in order to improve flight…… but never the grip. It's literally the only contact we have with the club… why wouldn't that be tested during a fitting? I switched to Winn dri-tac midsized +1 three years ago and saw instant improvements. I absolutely 100% know it softened my grip because I see less wear on my glove and it lasts much longer. After testing my clubs, many of my friends have made the switch as well….. and all have seen improvements.

  11. To give you an idea, my glove size is XL, and I tried Medium sized Jumbomax grips, on my woods so far. I'm really satisfied, better control in the back swing (tendency to overbend my wrists). I got a better sense of my club face too

  12. Love the jumbo max. Use them on all my woods. Use something slightly smaller for irons. Will take a little while to get used to. Hitting a couple not giving you the fill effect.

  13. I switched to the Jumbomax grips about 6 months ago with great success. Like you, I was very handsy and tended to snap it left. I was also suffering from pain in my hands and wrists. The big grips resolved both of those issues. There was a little bit of a learning curve. The biggest thing I learned was that I needed to reduce my grip pressure significantly. In fact, I sometimes play without a glove and it seems easier.

  14. I use JumboMax medium grips and love them! Bigger grips have helped to reduce how much hand/wrist I use in the swing as well eliminated hand/joint pain.

  15. It's nice to know what the pro where I live told me… the jumbo grips will just push everything right, and he was right.
