LESSONS LEARNED: Owning a Garage Golf Simulator

A long long time ago…. well…. one year ago this whole ro-de-o began. Back in the garage golf simulator for a nice little check up.

What have we learned, changed, and added since slapping this up on the ceiling (edit: bittersweet karma there)? Well I’ll tell you right now… balls can break things, it works “mostly” as intended, and it is a heck of a lot of fun. Oh, we have GS Pro now and it is AHHMAAZZING.

Cheers!

  1. Thanks for the video. Subscribed based on the fact you hit the island. LOL Gonna try to find the video where you built this out. I saw the video where you outlined the costs. Saw the simulator was retractable. I need that so Mama can park in the garage (you know how that is). I think you're in GA, not sure how cold it gets down there (I'm in DC) but wanted to ask if you left the projector in the garage over the winter months. I need a simulator that breaks down easily so my garage stays dual purpose. Thanks again.

  2. You would think having a sim would help your game, but I get on a real course and I cant hit the ball. I don't know if its the yips or what. lol

  3. Great video. Keep up good work. I resonate with I don’t know if having a sim makes you better. As example I practiced all winter and golfed really great in the spring, and then something happened and I was horrible. All while maintaining practice on the sim. So I quit golf for 10 days total and just shot one of my best rounds ever. I also fight nerves a lot once I get on course.

  4. I literally thought my shit was under attack in age of empires. I was like man I'm not even playing a game right now wtf.

  5. Not sure how much u actually play on an actual course. But I think you would see more personal improvement if u played a lot on an actual course and also tracked your shots You could then attack those areas that your weaker on. I think you would definitely get better faster Keep it up Good show

  6. So Karma decided to give me a big swift kick in the lower region and this happened (https://youtu.be/7NQ06zpIkI8)... but we will rebuild, it will be documented again… so leave a nice RIP in the comments and SUBSCRIBE. It means a ton for real… thanks everyone, cheers!

  7. Simulator would be great to have for those long winter months in the northern regions for sure! Good video thanks

  8. A sim absolutely helps your on course game. I have no doubt about it. The number of balls is unlimited that you can hit on the sim. Its dropped my HC from a 5 to a 2

  9. You know you can move all the grass 6-10" towards the door and your problem is solved right??

  10. While both the range and the simulator are great tools to help hone your golf swing, when you get to the course you need to get into the "mindset to score". So, while you might be going 110% or 120% on the range, you need to dial it back a little on the course to say 80% or 85% in a lot of situations, and make "smart decisions" about "how to score" while "on the course". That means not taking the shot at the pin that Rory might take, but a much safer shot to the open part of the green so you can get up and down. You'll have some holes where you can "open it up to 100%", and know when those are. Play smart, shave strokes.

  11. Try a pool noodle on the bottom of screen. Cut it down the middle and taco the screen in it and see if it helps. Might not but it’s a thought. 😅
