  1. Matt, there's no discussion. In 1980, Tom Watson won six times, including one major (Open Championship). None other than Jack Nicklaus, won two majors, the U.S. Open and the PGA. Absolutely, Tom Watson won the Player of the Year. End of the discussion.

  2. Maybe the people realize that Xander won 2 Majors playing against most of the best golfers in the world, and that Scottie did it once…and won 5 times against weaker PGA golfers.
Remember in 2023 Rahm won a Major and 4 other events, but Scottie won player of the year because Rahm left PGA for LIV…so Scottie is PGA's blue-eyed boy and will take it again…even if Xander wins the Olympic gold!

  3. I think a European player will win the gold…I will be keeping my eye on the local, Pavon. And also on Rahm, Rory, Meronk and Niemann (not European but played well in Europe on LIV events), and Xander will do well again as usual.

  4. Rory is right. What did Wyndham Clark to again this year…? If Bryson was playing, and remember he's 9th on OWGR having played only in 4 qualifying tournaments this year, many more Americans would have been watching the golf.
Dean Burmester is obviously the best South African golfer in 2024 and he is not playing in the Olympics…and with him Louis Oosthuizen, but 2 PGA golfers are representing South Africa. And the same goes for Tyrrell Hatton…?
