there are many things wrong with this golf club when it comes to a lot of you guys watching and I don’t want you to make the same costly mistakes however the Fairway would can be a game changer so let me simply show you how to find the perfect one for your bag especially at the end when we can do a speed test and find out exactly what combination you need but first let’s look at my lineup and why I’ve chosen Cobra for this particular video one of the first reasons is that I want to save you guys a lot of money the second reason is that actually very underrated when it comes to the fairway wood Market especially when you consider the fact a lot of tour Pros that aren’t even sponsored by Cobra go out of their way to choose cobra in this slot however with that being said this video could be used for any brand of fairway wood but the Cherry on the top is how quickly Cobra Fairway WS devalue after the first year that they’ve been released so big shout out to replay go for obviously helping me Source these clubs and in particular that low spin dark speed Fairway Wood which I want to explain why you shouldn’t be putting that in the bag so before we get into head type shaft Loft combinations the dark speed LS retails around 3 £49 and I’m not saying that if you don’t get five six years worth of great golf with a brand new fitted fairway wood that it’s a bad investment because at that longevity of course that is money well spent however these are incredibly hard clubs to hit they’re the longest club that we have to hit off the deck much smaller head type compared to your driver and a multitude of reasons of why your ball goes extremely far with this club compared to your driver or absolutely nowhere compared to let’s say your foron the point is that this is a volatile Club some of you will love them and some of you will hate them and I’ll explain why those types of players actually exist especially to someone that’s new to the game as one swing change one Injury One YouTube video could result in the difference between your 350b Fairway with doing that and then you not even being able to get it off the ground can’t wait to say this is the best value Fairway Rood in a couple of years 290 not too bad and I want to get into Lofts and shars and head types but Aero jet secondhand price currently around1 £1 1220 even for a fivewood option which is harder to get a hold of LTD X the previous one before that 80 9901 right when it comes to a launch which let’s be honest is kind of what we want from these and then we see the plateau the rad speed which I haven’t got here but again £80 90 £1 I even saw this £75 Cobra f8 Fairway would on flyer which means that once you’ve got to this once you’ve experimented and you take on board what I say if I’m wrong if you choose the wrong one The Loft the Sha the head you don’t like it you’re going to lose a tener maybe 15 quid over the space of a year and don’t get me wrong a lot of tour Pros use the ls model if you’re Ricky Fowler of course you’re going to use this because let’s be honest your numbers are perfect you find the middle all the time and they’re playing courses that are exceptionally long hence why you do need a fairway word that can go close to 300 yards and I’m going to say I tried to do that on purpose but let’s all be honest I wasn’t that is the downside of someone that’s not consistent with their face toath relationship meaning yes I have the ability to hit that club further than anything else in this room when it comes to Fairway woods but because the lack of back spin the side spin just takes it for a ride meaning almost 63 yards offline the point is do you want a fairway wood that’s considerably better in terms of dispersion your Fairway finder or do you just want another driver in the bag let’s start off with head tipe look the ls version a low spinning head basically makes the head deeper and shallower from Hill to toe look how much wider there roet is meaning that you’re going to get more forgiveness from these kind of strikes from this club compared to this one again the Aero jet longer front to back and you can see how much weights obviously at the face of the ls in terms of the dart speed but I must stress technique will allow these clubs to go 200 yards and I’ll show you the minimum amount of speed that is required to get 200 yards and whether it’s your seven wood or fivewood a lot of you just need eight out of 10 off the te 200 yards plus to really reduce your handicap so let me show you which Lofts and which shafts are actually going to help you do that I’m going to say something controversial here you don’t need stiff Lex in your Fairway Wood just because you have stiff Lex in your driver and my point is this a lot of you have the ability to come on the inside but it’s because you get too much around yourself you actually get trapped from the inside and your right elbow basically causing a lot of this flipping action and because it’s teed up and you haven’t got the ground to contend with this kind of works hence why a stiffer Sha will basically Stop Those duck hook lefts well kind of like this however this is for the people that top their Fairway Wood all the time they want to use a fairway wood they have to use a seven wood just to thin it basically towards the Target because that same action from around here giving you that kind of draw just means you can’t even get the thing Airborne let alone find the middle of the face I also want to flip reverse ver it to why people love their three-wood and hate their driver because they do the complete opposite massively down massively across it and because they launched the ball so low the added loft of a fivewood a three wood the ball thinks it’s a driver and obviously I don’t want you guys to be 78 n degrees across the ball but for you players that swing around yourself and hit that slinging draw all the time well I’m not being funny your fade will be basically borderline neutral in terms of your club path that is but we get that all important number and also pretty decent efficiency not to mention if I had an X stiff shaft in that particular shot it would have launched even lower and it would have finished more to the right cuz the club face would have stayed open now if you do hit down on the ball and you also are pretty neutral if not slightly on the inside like this it’s because you’ve created that room you’ve cleared your hips the club was on plane arguably you can see how hitting down on a ball from an in PA is a lot harder but my point is that player that has good efficiency hits it well hits a slight draw and they still hook it left or come over here well of course get a stiffer sha get X stiff right we found a forgiving head we kind of know what flex and shaft that we want although all of this doesn’t really matter cuz you’re going to lose zero money on well these two clubs here anyway but let’s not waste time you need the right Loft which one’s going to go the furthest and most consistent for you 75 mph 90 mph 100 mph plus I’m not going to spend too long on this one because the 3-wood is virtually pointless and I’ll show you why my 75 mph swing definitely needs work 75.3 we did it we got there I will hit one three-wood at this speed but it’s kind of pointless because to be honest you just don’t have enough spin or ball speed to get the ball in the air long enough but the seven wood we caught quite quickly at the good numbers I slightly down neutral path 157 carry 177 these three don’t count because I swung them way too fast 80 mph almost 6 mph faster and yes a longer shaft in a fivewood compared to a 7even wood we’ll give you touch more speed but then also longer shaft harder to hit 5w 155 174 157 177 the point is at this speed don’t have loads of Fairway Woods at the top of your bag have a fivewood or have a seven wood I honestly don’t think there’s a difference between the two because at those speeds the anomalies aren’t that big yes you might catch one of them better than the other purely down to Placebo but the point is don’t have a driver 3-wood fivewood seven wood just go drive a seven wood go drive a fivewood go on then pointless test but we’ll do it anyway 75 M hour 71.6 you just know it’s not coming off the ground right 90 mph where a lot of you will be and there’s some decisions to be made here when it comes to Loft here’s why technique so important Club PA very neutral I hit down on it so I found the middle my efficiency is pretty good considering it’s a seven word we got 196 214 this class can go 200 yard off the te if you swing just under 90 M hour right fivewood time 90 mph well that was a bit Healy it was 91 but I think that’s going to spin a bit too much I’m going to keep that one there for good reason better 91 again good hopefully you’re going to start seeing a pattern of M seven wood is going to launch higher it’s going to spin more those bad shots aren AR going to disperse as much to left to the right exactly the same as your dispersion with your wedge won’t be as much as your driver the advantage of less spin even on bad shots cuz I hit that one very Healy and it went almost the same distance as a well struck seven wood and when I kind of hooked the other one obviously we went a bit further and that’s what you would expect from less Loft and the point is fivewood 7even wood at 90 mph I honestly couldn’t care less which one you want to favor but I think it’s important forget technology these couple of degrees here and there make a difference but I mean not that much difference compared to what a swing path angle attack a stiness of strike change can really make right three-wood up next and to be honest there are people I would recommend this too 89 on the dot that gol for potentially not however again I’ve hit it similar to the other two great efficiency we got the most ball speed which is no surprise because well it’s a brick wall compared to the other two we’ve L but look our carry the same as the fivewood and 7w look at that in the winter that is not going to be your friend but even though we got the same carry it did go a tiny bit further but I must stress again just like the seven wood and fivewood comparison the spin’s getting lower which means your off center shots Club face open Club Face clothes are going to be even more of a disaster tell you what we’re just going to go fast now I’m just going to swing it cuz I want to show you some actual difference now when it comes to Loft at this kind of speed there she is loads of snow on it and why potentially on a windy day would not put a seven wood in my bag right five wood better tiny bit pulled stiffer Shar required oh she is is gone and this is something that I’m personally working on as I get faster my normal speed i h up on the ball and I come on the inside that’s not good that’s why I thin my Fairway Woods a lot and that’s also why I end up double crossing it and hitting those snap PS but look at the dispersion difference now of a seven wood a fivewood a three wood and now at this speed we can actually start to see a difference even though I must have caught that one out the hill actually now I think about it but on average we’d see high launch less launch even less launch that one obviously was hit well and then spin High spin point is at 100 m an hour plus yes you can have two Fairway Woods in the bag and typically you would have a three wood and a seven wood or a fivewood if you typically need the shot to go 230 240 whatever your distance is and then a High lofted Hybrid just so it slots in behind your forine the point is it’s only realistically at that kind of speed we saw a distinct difference in terms of carry and overall distance between all three of these heads the question you got to ask is what do you want your Fairway Wood to do and if you want consistency tight dispersion just Forwood seven wood with a big forgiving head guys if you got any questions on your golf bag or equipment sasg golf academy.com and I’ll catch you guys later

  1. Cobra is such a sleeper for wood and driver options. They go down in value so quick after the next release. Same with Mizuno

  2. For my money the F9 Cobras are amazing, still rocking the 3w. I'm 63, not a big guy and still can get over 200 yards with roll out.

  3. Agreed tried them all different heads and shafts, F9’s,radspeed, LTD and Aerojet…some real bargains out there…. Alternate between 5&7 wood depending on how windy it is..(links course)… loft is definitely your friend around 80mph swing speed.

  4. For some reason atm I've got aerojet 3 wood at 13.5 am f9 wood at 17.5 and sz 7 wood at 23 degrees in the bag..

Kind of works but very rarely use 3 wood anyway

  5. F8 is a great club especially if you can find the 3-4w club. Have one in my bag and have played with the loft to increase slightly so it’s easier to get off the deck on long par 4/5’s. Lots of confidence with the F8. The rails also seem to help with turf interaction when from the fairway.

  6. Still playing my callaway x2 hot 3 wood from 2011…. Haven’t found anything that was enough of an improvement to be worth changing it … still using the same hybrids aswell

  7. I bought two Radspeed 5 woods, they are so good to use. And I bought them both for bargain prices in Japan. They still look current, amazing from the first cut, and if you really compress on it from the tee you can make it into a 3 wood, such is the forgiveness.

  8. Now I'll make you laugh. For the last 3 weeks my 3-wood of choice has been a King Cobra M Speed Offset in a ladies flex, purchased from GolfClubs4Cash for £19.99!!! It launches well every time and goes 180 yards! What's not to like???

  9. The only person who reviews and recommends to real people and their swing speeds. Great info. Not had a 3 wood since a PT15 which I couldn't hit?

  10. 5 wood and 7 wood lofts can vary greatly, especially adjustable ones. When reviewing can you mention the actual lofts please. Great vid good advice.

  11. Love my Cobra F-Max wood I got for 40 €. Has 20° loft. Does that make a 5 or a 7 wood? And where is the 6 wood? 🙃

Thanks for the video. Just confirmed that I shouldn't get a 3 wood.

  12. My TS2 7 wood, Reg flex but my driver is stiff verging on needing x flex, but the 7 wood is 205 carry and straight every time. Best club in the world!

  13. Thank you so much for this. I am in the slower speed category and have been struggling to find the right mix at the top of the bag. You have helped me simplify the solution by going with fewer rather than more fairway woods and hybrids. I’ll concentrate on familiarity improving quality of strike.

  14. I love that take into account the methods that people miss…. Like when someone who just wants to play every now and then can’t watch some reviews because they don’t miss in very exaggerated ways

  15. I have mizuno 190st 3 wood and 3 hybrid for €110 for the pair, best clubs in my bag compared to my €600 fitted driver.

  16. I'm stuck for something between my 3 wood and 4 iron. 23 yard(average) distance between the two, if I hit my 4i well. 3 hybrid, an old Brosnan, is 17 yards behind my 4i. Let's say in a normal gave there is 30 yards between 3w and 4i, what should I look at for the gap? Average ball speed for 3w is 152mph and 4i is mid 130's. Dispersion isn't too bad.

  17. Another great video Simon. Explains why my 7 wood & 5 wood are around the same distance with my swingspeed 👍

  18. The timing of this video is insane lol I just got a 5 wood and 7 wood in the mail today 😂 To be fair though I already have a 5 wood in the bag with my driver and I love it, the one that came in today was just in the purchase to get the 7 wood I wanted, but I was considering replacing my 22 degree 4 hybrid with that 21 degree 7 wood and having that and my 5 wood in the bag with the driver. That would be it for the woods, not currently gaming a 3 wood, so I should steer clear of using both in the bag? Just been struggle to hit hybrid for some reason lately and felt 7 wood would be better and similar.

  19. I have a tour edge exotics exs 220 head and put on an old kuro kage shaft. It's easy 260 to 275 all day

  20. Loved this video, that last point i think is key. Decide what you need/want from your clubs and work back from there. That said still loving my Wilson staff F5 3 wood i got for £30 🙂

  21. Basically get fitted and see which oness u hit best. If you’re not on a budget then get what u want if u are get a 2nd hand older model of what u liked in the fitting

  22. I’ve just sold my cobra Aerojet 5 wood and got a ping g430 max 7 and 5 wood. The cobra was unreal but I didn’t like the loft options on it and needed a 4 iron distance club

  23. I love my Cobra fairway woods, I play the SPEEDZONE 3 and 7 woods and they are fantastic and I won't be changing them for many years to come. Awesome video 👍
