You Can’t Hit Driver Straight Using This Popular Ball Position

To hit driver straight avoid this common ball position mistake. So many golfers with a perfectly good golf swing can’t hit driver straight because they simply have the ball position in the wrong place.

In this golf lesson Danny Maude shows you how to hit driver straight every time by first making sure you have the perfect set-up for a driver swing.

Without this you could have the perfect golf swing but still hit driver poor.

ABOUT DANNY
———————–
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!

I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.

On YouTube and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.

Be prepared though. If it’s a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble

I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

I will show you the golf swing slow motion so that you can see what you need to do to improve.

We look at 3 things:

3, How to get the correct impact position with driver

and I hope to do all this with simple golf tips so you can create an effortless golf swing

  1. Great explanation and hopefully going to be exceptionally useful in pre shot routine and especially good to revert to when things start going wrong on the course

  2. Bugger, Danny now I have to go to the range again tomorrow, as I’m sure this lesson is just what I needed. Lee Australia 🇦🇺

  3. Great video Danny! I been working on exactly this lately with every club. By focusing on keeping my mass fixed thru the entire swing, i can now control the lowpoint of the swing and predict where the club hits the ground, and it has made me more consistent than ever, but most important, it has made golf FUN again😇

  4. Great video and liked Danny, does ball height on tee come in to play here, or is that a separate issue?

  5. Another simple piece of advice to take to the course. I’m seeing so many improvements in my game using these kinds of simple tips… not driving it straight today? Check yourself with this advice in a mid round practice swing… amazing. Thanks.

  6. As always Danny a great video, but just a quick question? I have a cousin how can smash his drives 290/300 dead straight effortlessly, yet he has his ball setup in the middle of his stance? He's had lessons and his coach has even tried to change it because he hits it so well.

  7. If you’re holding the club with both hands, which are hanging normally in front of the he middle of your body, how is the centre of the swing under the left armpit?

  8. Your video doesn’t mention ‘Face to path’. It’s also not shown on the Trackman. Would I be wrong in thinking that this video is only correct if your face to path is perfect. Won’t a closed or open face to path have a huge effect ?

  9. Morning to you, Dan – I think very good tip on the axis tilt as I tend to tilt shoulders back too much. Think a lot of us do, thinking we’re going to get a nice high launch but in fact it’s affecting strike. Next time over the range will do your set up drill – my ball position is fine, but I’m leaning back too much at address. Have a great week.
    All the best, Ken

  10. Great lesson Danny. I know it's automatic for you but when do you start your forward swing and move your weight left? Stay well-Russ

  11. Amazingly simple set up explanation Danny, I can’t wait to try it out. One of my main issues is achieving a consistent set up on the course when I don’t have alignment aids. Any tips or is it just a case of lots of practice to get the right feel?

  12. Danny, this is such a great vid for all hdcppers. I’m single hdcp and lately struggled with hooks and pushes. Amazing how ball position failure tends to keep kreeping into your game. You’re explanation here should be a must practice on range regularly. Thx a lot!!

  13. Any physics student will tell you that the center of the arc cannot be the left shoulder, because it moves during the swing!!! The center of a circle or arc, is a point that does not move. Think of a compass when you use it to draw a circle, one tip does not move.

  14. Omg danny ! Its like you are doing personal bids just for me 😂 last week wedges , this week driver ! Cheers pal 🙌🙌👏👏

  15. Nice video but so as clubs rise ball goes further back and you have a forward shaft lean inbuilt, that correct or do you change your center from left arm pit to sternum bit confused.

  16. Danny, this is such an eye opener. Now I know what I’ve been doing wrong all these years. I’m a slicer and always thought I needed to tee the ball farther forward to get the face more closed (never mind I was rotating too much in the down swing). I realized my rotation was wrong because I could feel it but, couldn’t correct it. Love your videos brother.

  17. Another thing I took note of is where you are lining up the driver behind the ball. It is more of the toe behind the ball, not center of the face which is what I usually do.

  18. I finally realized set up is king. My right elbow, my left armpit and wrists mean good swings for me add a decent turn and its just automatic

  19. Hi Danny, I heard that using a more forgiving shaft with a little more whip action instead of a telephone pole will help you.

  20. Dan – your videos are so well broken down. I am still having alignment issues, hitting the ball straight and right into trouble. I'm guessing the ball position may be playing a part in this but as I have said before after I have hit the shots, my playing partners tell em that's where I am aiming. My good shot is usually a draw so I am assuming my ball position is slightly off in the first place? It would have been good if you had also shown the set up for short and long irons too.

  21. Great video Danny. Do you use left armpit as guide for irons/wedges as well to stay centred, but with ball behind to hit down and compress strike?
