Need help buying newish irons

After a long hiatus from playing for my high school team I recently picked up playing consistently again.

I’ve been irons only for 10 years of playing sparsely on the same set I’ve always had. Mizuno MZX cast iron cavity backs. Mucho offset.

As I’ve picked up hitting a new driver and a 2 iron, my scores have improved a lot this summer from a high to low-mid handicapper.

As my swing has improved I’m finding that because these irons are so offset that I have to draw my hands very far forward of the ball to get the shot shape or ball flight I want.

Although I am mashing these things I still feel like a more modern club with less offset will benefit my swing. Also regripping these Mizunos, which they need badly, is gonna cost about what they are worth.

Should I keep sticking it out with these irons? Or buy a newish set, was thinking some T AP2 or something similar. Looking for suggestions on sets and set type improvement, players irons, etc.
