  1. Great video and so true! I’m thinking of some old time swings like Bobby Jones and George Knudson, with that relaxed, free snap at the bottom. Many thanks for reminding me of this as I get older.

  2. I have been doing a motion like this for a while now and I have gone from 120mph too 140mph ballspeed is 203 and the ball doesn't go off line it's actually very accurate.
The loose feeling and softness on it all feels like I flop my hands into the ball but unload it fully there is very little effort Steve may I join you for a lesson some day

  3. Sometimes I have success compressing the ball by letting the wrist flex through impact. But then I start pull hooking. I realize then, that I concentrate so hard on the wrist action that I sometimes don't complete a full backswing.

  4. This motion in combination with pushing against the lead leg results in going from linear to radial acceleration – using that whip or towel – just dont forget to clear your hip and tilt enough….

  5. Absolutely the right thing to do but mastering this timing is much harder than you make it look. Sounds crazy but I have tried to master this with a putter, if you hit a normal putt and then hit a putt where to get the right wrist working as you describe at impact the ball travels way further.

Have you got any drills to help master this wrist speed?

  6. Maybe though it’s you reacting to the club? If you know what you’re doing yes the release is a consistent timing of the wrist/hand motion.

  7. Hi Steve i am from a town in Queensland Australia called Townsville I've been told that the left arm does the work in a golf swing not the not the right or right hand

  8. Body, shoulders, wrists and clubhead. Each part exponentially adds to the speed of the next. Why would you want to remove a speed adder in the equation?

  9. I saw Jack Nicklaus video he said he released at top of swing but you would have to get yourhips n shoulders to turn inget the timing right it boils down to practice n feel lots of practice

  10. Steve, thanks for this video. I’m a righty and hit the ball with my left arm doing most of the work in the swing. I grip very loosely with my right hand. This has helped me tremendously with my coming over the top. I think my right wrist is in flexion. Can you explain this from your lead hand position?

  11. Loved it! Curious about what you think about this. I think one reason this move gets demonized is because people stop turning and/or the handle lifts and opens the face. If you stop turning then you will hook.
