The final countdown is on for the final men’s major of the 2024 golf season as the 152nd Open Championship begins Thursday at Royal Troon on Scotland’s west coast.

We open the pod with some reflections on the oldest major in the game, a draft of our favorite storylines heading into this week’s tournament, a look at the odds sheet, our picks to win and not win, and share some of our favorite moments from previous Opens.

  1. Jon Rahm major record for 2022: Masters 27, PGA Championship 48, U.S. Open 12, Open Championship 34
Jon Rahm has gone off the boil in the past.

  2. Neil should the Miami/Dade Hard Rock Stadium Security Detail for the Block Party…it's only fitting.

  3. The PGA should travel around the world. America shouldn’t have 3 majors and the PGA could be a lot more interesting if it went outside America and GB&I

  4. They need to go back to making guys qualify every year for it even if they won the previous year. That'd be sick.

EDIT: How can you hesitate on winning 2 majors? They are the measuring stick that every pro golfer is defined by. Tiger's personal measuring stick for being the greatest was Jack's number of major wins. Wins without majors are for dudes like Greg Norman and DL3. Those guys are not talked about in the same breath as Tiger, Jack, or Arnie. They aren't even Faldo or Brooks or Watson or Player.

  5. Block party changing hands 3 times in 3 majors is tough but I’ve been attending for years and you know I’ve got my VIP pass

  6. The 1995 open that Daly won with the streaker, which is just so British by the way, has one of the great moments in open golf history. How do you not mention Rocca holing a putt from the valley of sin to force a playoff? You guys look old enough – did you not watch it the time?
