Jason Day WITB – What’s In The Bag? The Open Championship at Royal Troon (July, 2024)

At one under, Day is tied for seventh, six behind the Irish leader Shane Lowry, four adrift of the English pair of Dan Brown and former US Open champ Justin Rose but only one behind Scottie Scheffler, Billy Horschel and Dean Burmester.

It has put the 36-year-old in the shake-up once again after his battling effort at Royal Hoylake in appalling, rain-swept conditions last year — and the world No.31 was not shy in admitting he got the best of the weather in his round that began at 8.14am.

The driver and fairway woods in Day’s bag are well-suited for the long, demanding holes of Royal Troon. His choice of irons will help him in attacking the well-guarded greens, while his versatile wedge setup will be essential for scoring from the rough and bunkers.

The putter, with its stability and precision, will be critical in navigating the undulating greens. Day will need to rely on his experience and adaptability to manage the varying conditions. His previous performances at The Open have shown that he can compete at the highest level, and with the right mindset and strategy, he has a strong chance of contending for the Claret Jug this weekend at Royal Troon.
