[Music] good morning it is Wednesday and welcome to live at the range oh yesterday 13,575 blls were hit on this range and the longest carry was Gary Woodland with 354 yards it is fair to say that the players here they practice over and over again for the final major of the year because they want to lift The claric Jug and become Champion golfer of the year welcome to live at the range is Wednesday morning and good morning Peter Finch Pete great to see you how are you absolutely fantastic how are you I’m brilliant I love those pictures is just honestly Goosebumps everywhere the the start of the final major of the year is tomorrow morning and the sun is shining here in Scotland we are absolutely delighted the weather forecast has changed quite a lot hasn’t it it’s Fab it it it’s switching literally every single day at the moment at this moment in time Saturday afternoon looks to be the worst apart from that it’s going to be quite nice great SE well the players have been on the range from very early on Tiger Woods was out here and he’s been practicing since he arrived on Monday morning did a lot of chipping and putting short game practice as you would expect what have you seen from Tiger this week um I mean he’s gone about he’s G about it in his own way but to be honest I do worry about him this week okay we’ll talk more about him in just a moment Henrik Stenson the winner in 2016 great to catch up with him yesterday and here’s Tommy Fleetwood who uh missed the cut last time he played at Roy trun has had a couple of really good results in the last couple of open championships top 10 results and everyone loves Tommy don’t they all the fans yeah I mean he’s a fan favorite and you can see why like he’s one of the nicest guys on tour what was too nice he is great to chat to him as well yesterday and with his C with his caddy Ian finis who had open heart surgery three months ago was back on the bag at the Scottish open incredible story so many well wishes from everyone at home to to Ian which was marvelous and the golfing Community here really supporting him yeah it was incredible I mean I was messaging him around the time and even then he was he was playing it down a little bit until after the surgery and then he sent me through some pictures and I thought I thought he just had a chest infection I mean literally the biggest chest infection in the world apparently but to see him actually back and out here and the support and the kind of love that he’s been shown it’s it’s really nice it it shows kind of on tour sometime is a bit of a bigger family than maybe some people appreciate absolutely it really is and and there’s really lovely uh communities the players hang out together go out for dinner together especially you know the European Rider Cup team I’ve seen them just before the Open Championship they were they were all hanging out having dinner and this morning some really famous face today if Kev our cameraman pans around you’ll be able to see the the world’s number one behind us Scotty Sheffer I’ll get out of the way it’s so busy Pete isn’t it well now we’re on Wednesday things have just like got a tiny bit more serious now this is the last day of preparation before the event and most of these guys are going to be hoping that this session that they have today everything feels great oh Mak it great get out on the course or see what it’s like I’m really looking forward to it we’ll know who’s struggling when we go a fair tonight it’s SE and who’s still here grinding away well Scotty in the last couple of open championships top 25 finishes I think it a tide e at St George’s in 2021 when he made his open debut uh the world number one who was in a press conference yesterday talking about the front nine the back nine and the difference between both nines and Pete yesterday you you walked the course at the back nine I know your your thoughts on it it’s we’ve been saying the word brutal unpredictable whatever the elements are going to throw our way this week we don’t know but um for for everyone at home who who would be who may come and play this course what is that back nine like so if you do come and play this course do not go off the back teas honestly it will it will destroy you I was feeling nervous walking around that back n and I didn’t even have a club in my hands every single hole on the back is a challenge it’s long it usually plays into the wind we all know about 11 we all know about the railway how hard it is but then you have like 133 it’s back into the wind it’s 470 it’s a dog leg the Fairway are undulating you can get a bad kick 14 a tough par 315 again just a long par for straight back into the breeze You’re probably going to be hitting a driver a long game maybe in a fairway wood for these guys you get on to 17 it’s a 240 yard par three it was I I went actually to the 17th te yesterday and seeing some of those t- shots not many of the pros found the green on 17 yesterday that I saw anywhere no I mean it’s not it’s not that it’s a long hole like these guys hit the ball the long way they can get there it’s the fact that it’s a long hole is into wind it’s a raise green you got a bunker short right you got a bunker short left you got the deepest bunker on the course middle of the green right which I think is going to see a lot of action this week and it’s about I think it’s about 8 foot from the bottom of that like they’re not going to be able to see the bottom of the pin even if it’s like 3 feet away from them yeah you know it’s a very very scary hole and if you’re coming into that with a chance of winning you’re just holding on for teer Life yes it’s so I’m Clinging On I’m there with you Pete right now honestly if if you do get a chance to walk around you do get a chance to see these guys take on the back n it’ll be it will really show the difference between the quality of these players and your everyday gol okay well we’ll talk a lot more about the course but for now let’s go and find George he’s out and about where exactly are you George good morning everyone we are back and it is a pleasant Scottish morning here at Royal trun now look yesterday I felt like we didn’t give you enough tiger it’s like a drug I didn’t see him once yesterday so I need more I’m going to double down for you guys at home today look who it is an all black looking Sensational and funnily enough we’ve found him on the hardest hole at the 2016 open the railway Hall he’s found the Fairway beautifully and he’s playing a big fade off the left as we’ve come quite familiar with of recent and couldn’t quite hold the green such a challenging hole what a way to start the day Tiger Woods watch now I can tell you that the wind has slightly changed it’s not blistering into the players faces today like it has been in the past which makes us so much harder Tigers joined by Tom Kim and M Maverick mcney so there’s TK there almost in our back pocket he’s probably going to have to go right over our our sweds here but look there’s no better way to start your day oh oh yeah there’s the uh there’s the morning train to work sorry guys we’re having fun here at work right Tom Kim straight over our heads this is groundbreaking stuff Risky Business four left and that’s what this roughs like it’s just grabs it you can see here it’s so thick and juicy you get in under that it’s going to grab the huzzle of the club and pull it left like Tom Kim’s just did there oh one more he wants another crack fair enough that’s better all right well we’re going to make our way up to the green find more Tigers see what he’s up to around the green cuz this hole is simply beautiful one of my favorites let’s see if tiger can handle it oh tiger if uh if any fans are here a most of them will be heading to watch Tiger Wood W they he’s such a brilliant uh honestly it is everybody goes towards him I’m being told hash theopen range if you want to join in the conversation we’re receiving loads of tweets and texts and we’ll read as many as we can I’ve got we got s burs behind us uh Matt Fitz Patrick further down the range John Rama’s just arriv but s burs was with Scotty Sheffer wasn’t here but turn Bri practicing just before the open Pete we’re going to have a brilliant day aren’t we honestly I’m I’m really looking forward to today cuz it just feels that little bit more serious you know the first few days everyone’s relaxed now everyone’s in their own little Zone you know it’s not quite as chatty yes it’s just got that little bit more intensity about it you can tell like a major championship is literally a few hours away absolutely gosh we’ve got a great view of Scotty cheffro as well right we’re going to leave you from the range and go to commentary we’re gonna we’ll try and find some interviews and players and coaches to chat to you keep uh joining in the conversation # theopen range but for now let’s get to that commentary box and join Simon Homes good morning Simon how are you D I’m great really really excited for tomorrow um it feels like I had a little cruise through we had a chat this morning before we started um the show and also very interesting to see those shots from George out on the golf course you know the guys practicing out there as the weather starts to just move around a little bit all sorts of different story lines so don’t know what the players are going to have to prepare for the weather is unpredictable it certainly is Simon have you got enough goodies in the commentary box CU you’re going to be there for the next 15 hours we are well stocked up here thank you good stuff good stuff we’ll leave it with you now excellent excellent take care you guys chat to you soon so I’m joined by Richard boxel morning day before day W Richard yeah listen it’s been a year since I worked with you I thoroughly enjoyed that last year and I will thoroughly enjoy this this morning as well yeah the this these are great viewpoints I think these are really valuable obviously the tournament as it starts tomorrow is the main event but the pre-prep all of the stuff they’re live on the Range you know there’s Scotty Sheffer warming up tal Hatton behind him um you know fascinating insights that we get here sort of really brought together brought to life a peace an important piece the driving range that’s never really been seen so I think this is a really Innovative look that adds a lot of flavor to uh your enjoyment uh you viewers um uh for the for the week so Scotty Sheffer world number one yeah would be his fourth open for Scotty Sheffer sorry I’m sounding a bit horse this morning woke up with a bit of a cold Simon this morning was we just keep keep I’ll keep the distance from yeah it’s time to go now isn’t it I I always feel when it gets to a Wednesday it’s actually gone one day too far do you know what I mean cuz tournament days normally the players would get there on a Tuesday and then you got a proam on a Wednesday so if you get there Tuesday you might do nine holes you might just go to the range Wednesday you play the pro I meet you three new friends and um and off you go and that’s your practice round and you know you’re only there a day and a half and then we’re underway Thursday but some a lot of these players if they didn’t play the Scottish open we’ll get here Saturday or Sunday and then you start playing 18 Monday There’s no proam here obviously so you start playing Monday Tuesday Wednesday next thing you know you’ve played four rounds and you’re not even got into round one yet no it was interesting Justin Leonard who won here he was telling us that he it was the first time he qualified when he won and um he played sometimes he played more than 18 holes a day just tried to be the most prepared player certainly paid off for him Todd Hamilton he won he came here and said he was absolutely couldn’t hit his hat before in the practice and then just found something amazing on the course you only in this game he only wants one thing to happen it could be a 25 footer it could be a whole bunker shot it it could be anything you just think you know what that felt all right that and then it’s because the 6 Ines of gry matter plays some Wicked Games with you how about this look at these feet have a look at this it’s the left foot that rolls over and then the right toe that moves in behind it to stabilize it sort of slides a little bit and then turns up onto its toe doesn’t it yeah yeah amazing footwork but I tell you in sort of watching his practice he hits so many quality shots I mean I don’t think we’ve seen a iron player like him since tiger at his very best he hits so many amazingly good shots that’s why he makes so many birdies it’s the quality of his irons for me which is his sort of his secret weapon just absolutely Supreme from there do you think I mean you’re a teacher ass through and through do do you think you could teach him or or keep him you know on the on the straight in eror oh I think what the what when you are a teacher is not that you’ve got a model that you that they have that the players have to follow your model what you have got to do as a teacher I think is observe what they do what are their strengths and weaknesses then you’ve got to learn their model so that then you can compare okay you know what when you were playing well you were doing this and now you’re not doing that anymore so maybe that’s something so you wouldn’t necessarily change anything you You’ you look at them first of all and work out what they’re good at yeah I think you need to work I don’t think there is a model so like his pattern of movement’s very interesting right so if you if we watch this from full screen so for me he’s he’s very very precise look how precise he is with his hands on the club and the face like really feeling that right and now about the time here certainly by the time his left arm is parallel to the ground going back he is already shifting well forward from right side into that left side right very high plane like a very tilted plane and just trying to you like he won’t like that he will not like that shot so dropping to the left is not what he was trying to do but practice is about practice isn’t it there’s no point faring them off as quick as you possibly can you got to go through a routine I I agree Richard what I I watched his warm up on the Saturday and the Sunday at the Masters this year and I was so impressed by like just his ability to really feel the club face and how he he could calibrate his shots like for me you know he was very very precise little baby fade then a bit more fade then brought the fade back to neutral then dropped it out again he like really working the ball all the time I love that yeah that’s what you got to do the these players you won’t see it here on the TV but there’ll be a couple of greens two three or four greens down on the on the Range here maybe more on that and they’ll pick a Target and if there’s not a green they’ll pick a bunker like that one on the right hand side there and then and they will hit three or four Fades onto it and then they will hit three or four draws on it and then they’ll try and hit some high ones low ones straight ones and they’ll go through their routine that way [Music] on the te she staring this one down and for good reason look at this just delightfully done she’s on top of the world going directly at the hole what oh get in there there’s something about the AIG Women’s Open oh my goodness [Music] [Applause] there’s no way I should be here I should be dead or in prison I mean how else would you gauge this and a guy comes off of a cotton Farm you know to become one of goth great are you kidding me he hit the flag and the crow he just stormed onto the scene he put it in he’s a magician he’s got it I never had any dreams about going on tour I didn’t know anything about it his story is amazing his journey is amazing what a great shot we were poor we needed money to buy foodo a 28-year-old F broke didn’t belong I knew it didn’t belong it was unbelievable and he put up with a lot that past is so painful to him I would like to forget it to tell you the truth our culture has a short memory I think it’s time for us to be reintroduced to the gerino I’m playing for my life out here you know it is the American dream he hustled the world [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] it doesn’t get much better than this relaxing on the extremely difficult and very memorable 11th hole and turning off the stone wall into Tiger Woods three-time Champion golfer of the Year this is his 23d appearance at the oldest major championship and that club in his hand right now the putter that is one we will all have eagle eyes on if he can keep this hot he is certainly a chance to make the cut the US Open this was his issue just couldn’t quite keep the putter on form but allbe it he has missed the last three out of four cuts at the open but we’ve got to remember he’s been through so many hurdles and he tends to jump most of them over career sitting here on the 11th hole it averaged 4.55 back in 2016 the hardest hole so if you can get out of here through 10 11 12 even P you’re doing very very well it was also in that year 2016 it was also I believe one of the hardest holes on the entire PGA Tour but look at this tiger just stalking his way around this green I’m loving the all black obviously a little bit biased coming from New Zealand but so nice watching his processes now he’s going to flick a few wedges because cuz if if the wind is the traditional prevailing it’s going to be so hard to reach this green into until on some occasions so where he’s practicing now we could see many golfers how is he going to do this bump and run into the slope needs a little bit more check we’ve seen a lot of run out on these greens even though there’s been a bit of moisture around the UK summer it’s that first bounce that first kick where it punches on further than a lot of golfers have anticipated especially if you’re ever so slightly down one like tiger is now there’s a little bit of bite we need a little bit of check he was after let’s recycle that one a very fun part of the golf course as soon as you get to the 67 and eighth really heats up here at Royal trone and it’s going to be a fun watch but this is the coverage this is the experience that the fans don’t get during Championship days watching them go about their business the Artistry and if you look behind tiger there’s a little Gallery just a small one so if you want to get a good eye on the world’s best the practice days are the days to do it look at the access they’ve got come Thursday they won’t be a spare seat in the house and you’ll be three or four rows deep good morning Tiger Woods in 2016 there was 35 double Bogies on this hle and 26 triples or worse so it can it Can Eat You Alive if you are not switched on that is for certain only 30% of people making it in greens and regulation so fear do for spending a bit of time here oh goodness I don’t know about you I just felt a little bit of Aura his presence he knows the cameras right here he is not going to look anywhere near it he is just so used to having people like us in their back pocket but there he is ladies and gentlemen the sun is starting to pop out tiger is on the back nine on the eve of the opening round it doesn’t get much better than this let’s head back up to you guys fascinating to get this view Richard boxal you know what what is what’s the idea really when you’re out on a course like this and you’re trying to sort of play from the middle of the green out to the corners what are the players trying to find the feel for well they’re trying to have a little feel first of all when they’re chipping around the green and they’re trying to play Shots from where they where they would possibly miss the green I mean you could miss it from anywhere one place you don’t want to miss it on that 11th is over the wall for sure but what they’ll do is they’ll roll three or four balls like we’ just seen tiger do and they’ll have a little chip from the back a little chip from the front and from the side and then they’ve got these white discs that they put down now on the green which is good the cad will put one or two of those out where the holes would be uh or could well possibly be during the tournament and then they’ll 15 20 ft away and put up to those so they get an idea of the line yeah f fasinating that’s a great part of our show never really been able to go out there and really understand what the players do when they leave the range go for a practice round so tiger is out there in the middle of our screen is the world number one who doesn’t look in amazing form to me quite a lot of foul balls and a foul ball for him is a left shot Richard so we’ve seen a lot in his fou ball does that that seems quite American that is that he American he coming from you well I’m very I’m transatlantic but it is yeah lived in America for ages and absolutely loved it so here we go Scotty Sheffer driver will be so important t-shots all the parallel lines that he’s got there just working on his practice make sure his practice is high quality there is our top Tracer technology just giving you the ball follow there absolutely fascinating now the hold of the driving range really has come to life what a feeling that must be to turn up at a tournament you know and literally think in your mind wonder if I am going to win this again this week yeah I he and his mind seems to me very very strong doesn’t it I mean the Master’s performance was really Peerless I mean he just he put his signature on it he put his stamp on it he’s a there’s a lot of he’s very Charming but he’s very gritty he’s got the same sort of Killer Instinct for me as a Tiger Woods he’s he’s only he’s not come here to make up the numbers he’s only come here with one objective so let’s have a look at add his numbers Richard so just a three-wood off the deck here I think yeah I think this last one he hit he C it a little bit out the neck it was a low scuffy one to the right hand side but he does get some height on it let’s have a look at this one that’s a little lower than normal that as you can see there from the yeah the Americans though you know if you play PGA Tour Richard and you and you’re not really ever concerned with the launch you know you’re almost trying to hit it as high as possible you come here and now you’ve got to play it down is that a big adjustment changing what’s your natural trajectory to something that’s lower yeah I think it is I think it is very difficult I mean I almost to the point you think how can anyone actually do that you know cuz it is I mean I used to play and I I would when I started I played with a just a draw from right to left had a few problems and a few injuries and I injured myself at the open with breaking of the leg and then when I came back I couldn’t get I couldn’t get on the inside of the ball I couldn’t hit the ball from right to left because my brain wouldn’t let my left leg do it so all I could do was hit it from from left to right and then all of a sudden you’re playing golf courses you’ve never seen the right hand side of the course before because you draw it now all of a sudden it comes in play but to change your flight of your ball I think that’s quite a difficult thing to do I really do is that driver not a bad shot there just a little Cruiser it’s going to be an important Club isn’t it the t- shots here the the bunkers of one- shot penalties those you can count as water hazards but the rough is Juicy if you were watching a few minutes ago Tom Kim you saw what happened to him it’s a wispy Fescue but with a thick th green base isn’t it unusual and what happens is that grabs itself around the huzzle and you know and and turns the club over from right to left and you see a lot of players when they come out of this thick rough if they don’t get it right it just hkes straight across the Fairway into rubbish on the other side driver here come on sorry you were going to say no let’s have a look at this left foot here so as he gets into the longer clubs you see sort of more extreme that lateral movement into the left ankle what have a look at this really rotated to the outside there amazing isn’t it so sheffer’s last day of warmup before the gun goes tomorrow they’ll all be ready now they’ll all be ready to play they’ll really want to get going today today is the day that seems to linger on a little bit longer than the others yeah well Sheffer was here on Sunday on the drive range working hard going to be interesting to see how he plans his day I would imagine he is going to be going out okay yeah confirmation he’s going out at 10:00 this morning so that’s in half an hour with Will zot torus and his very close buddy Sam Burns now that’s the sort of shot he’s looking for [Music] you know a two iron or I think a one iron would be a useful sort of Club this week I really do to get it low and to get it running the the manufacturers whose equipment trucks are behind the driving range off to the right here have been doing a lot of work in that area we we’ve heard from till Hatton yesterday he had a seven wood in the bag which obviously not no good so he was just putting in um a new a new driving iron exactly as you’ve just said there um and it been really interesting to see you know how they how you suddenly adjust players now very a veratile to equipment you know you think about how many swing how many how many clubs did you change in your bag during a c of year hardly any oh hardly no um well for the putter stayed forever um the driver changed very rarely very rarely once you got a driver that you liked you’re stuck with that excuse me um and it didn’t I I had in the old days had a ping onean ey which was a great club Sandy used to use that very very well um but I always found that was a very handy Club no have a look at this so Ted Scott there filming Scotty Sheffer from behind so obviously looking at the pattern of the weight shift like that one I don’t know what shot he was trying to hit there but he’s normally trying to hit a fade so that that is clearly there’s something a little bit discombobulated at the moment just working that out Ted having a look giving a bit of feedback having a film now from down the line down the line is looking a bit more at the angles little bit more the geometry of the Swing so hard at work [Music] interesting Ted Scott now has done behind Scotty down the line and now face on the team the Sheffer team alongside Randy Smith who is not here that is Scotty scher’s coach lives in Texas great coach let’s have a look at this so watch how moves into that left side he’s looking for something I do not think that the Sheffer swing is on autopilot it’s quite late to be doing work quite late to be wanting to have a bit of feedback from the caddy or maybe just a check up to make sure that what he’s what he feels is what he sees Richard yeah I think you know once you the worst thing that can happen at this stage of the tournament is you start thinking do you know what that doesn’t feel right that and then you got to try and change something that’s you want everything rolling I mean you you look at that swing there I mean if you split screen that and one’s down the middle of the Fairway and one’s in the in the semi- rough on the right I mean it’s nothing is it I mean they both look the same no no we had a fascinating piece with Bryson to Shambo yesterday and his coach Dan just you know talking about a something which was less than an inch of movement into the right side but he but you know they they they would able to measure it and they and they were able to work on it so there is the Scotty Sheffer performance since March and it’s pretty strong reading isn’t it amazing amazing statistics so the one-handed hating that finish from Scotty Sheffer so he needs to obviously find a bit of form Richard have a we talk through that a little bit it’s not a bad there aren’t no bad things in there that is the first all is $23 million but if you look at that since March I promise you that is a really good career for a lot of players massively good career and that’s just happened since March so let’s have a look that’s interesting so Scotty Sheffer may be trying to work a little bit more into the right side to give himself a bit more time to get to the left side so maybe the left side move is being triggered a tiny bit too early Simon how important as you being a teacher how important is it to for a teacher to be a good psychologist I’m not saying you train in that what I’m saying is no crucial I it is isn’t it yeah I think it’s crucial you know you it’s your delivery of the data it’s your reading of the timing of the player where he is is he ready to have a chat is he does he need a few more minutes you know you’re trying to say the fewest amount of words possible and so and you’re trying to you’re trying to recreate patterns so I think it’s a very crucial part I also think in sort of in sort of coaching you know I I really work on my on my coaching and try to add more knowledge to my to my repertoire but I think you know the more you do it the better you get like I I definitely would like to think that my best lessons I still haven’t done them yet you know I’m still working to do better so somebody draws the ball Pro draws the ball from right to left and he wants to fade it now from left to right what is the format you’re going to go through to get him to hit that ball left or right how many stages are there no I I mean you what you’re trying to do is probably work a little bit do as much as your of your work in the address position to change the Angles and change the face orientation to the path without having to add a new element of maybe you know if you’ve got blocking hands adding in releasing hands is quite a strange feeling so you’re probably not trying to introduce too many new things to the formula so simpl it is is good so let’s have a look so Scotty Sheffer definitely working on something maybe just practicing a little bit more shift into that right side before he pushes over into the into the left so we will leave Scotty Sheffer who is definitely working hard on something not on autopilot and go and find George Harper Jr a nice warm reception to the 14th hole Tiger Woods is drawing a crowd it doesn’t feel like a Wednesday since we’ve been here this morning the numbers have tripled quadrupled there are hundreds and thousands of people watching this group all of a sudden we’ve made it to the 14th hole a very beautiful par three and as you can see down there there’s a lot of bunkers they just have to carry those a very easy pin today plays 200 yards and either side there are bunkers which are level all you have to do is make sure you avoid those they’re carrying 195 but today the wind has changed here’s tiger let’s get back here so 200 yards should be a pretty cruisy cruisy little seven on riding the wind off the left and he’s just double crossed that a little bit yeah that’s a Reload it’s a very quick reload but a very very cool crowd in 2016 this played 178 yards so they’ve added an extra 22 yards one hole in one here actually last time the open came to True wow he’s really launched that one way higher way straighter we could be seen another hole in one here oh Tiger Tiger Woods yeah beautiful shot and playing alongside Tom Kim his third Open Championship just 22 years old ended up joint runner up last year at Hoy Lake a superb effort so he’s gone under the radar certainly W to watch this ball striking ability is so good for lyx golf an absolute flusher love seeing his ball flight and he’s got a little bit of Swag to him you know bit of a Time on Netflix some good results and playing with tiger today he is strutting his stuff and rightfully so as this one just leaks towards the pin as well off the left it’ll get a kick yeah beautiful shot as well and Tiger’s pocket if we turn around around and see the green normally these holes coming home it’s all into the wind straight in but if we look at one of these flags I’d say that wind’s sort of what are we 7 8:00 cam up Jeff what are you thinking what are those flags at 7:30 to 8 I think 7328 yeah I reckon that’s pretty accurate so it really changes things up this wind I believe is going to be more like the championship rather than yesterday’s one where it was right into the teeth but three pretty good shots here as I said the crowds are picking up all for one reason and look the boys are having a seriously good laugh I don’t know who’s I don’t know who’s correct or funny there but there’s a lot of smiles it’s Christmas Eve here at the [Music] open on the tea she was staring this one down and for good reason look at this just delightfully done she’s on top of the world going directly at the hole what go oh get in there there’s something about the AIG Women’s Open oh my [Music] [Applause] goodness where do you see yourself in 10 years in 10 years I see myself self making partner at this FM has been sold what to who some multinational app in Dubai where it’s 700 a.m. and the temperature is a very warm welcome Viv this is Ben anything you need to know he’s your lawfully wetted husband in good times and in total chaos B what time are we expecting twins life is rarely a straight line wherever it takes you HSBC can help there’s no way I should be here I should be dead or in prison I mean how else would you gauge this a guy comes off of a cotton form you know to become one of go great are you kidding me he hit the flag and the crowd erup he just stormed onto the scene he has put it in again he’s a magician got I never had any dreams about going on tour I didn’t know anything about it his story is amazing his journey is amazing what a great we were poor we needed money to buy food proino a 28-year-old Bren didn’t belong I knew I didn’t belong he was unbelievable and he put up with a lot that past is so painful to him I would like to forget it to tell you the truth our culture has a short memory I think it’s time for us to be reintroduced to leino I’m playing for my life out here you know it is the American dream he hustled the world [Music] well the crowds really are building here at the range they’ve been coming in since about gosh h a 7even this morning here with Pete Finch and my goodness they’ve all come I think many of them have come to see Rory maroy who is literally just behind us it’s pretty special it it’s amazing to see like how much that side of the grand stand is cleared and they’re slowly migrating over to this side just so they can have a look man I mean he’s a you know he’s been a crowd favorite for many years and you can understand why the way he plays the game um but as far as a ball Striker and someone that you want to watch like he is by far you know the main draw for many people on a range he’s just he’s just fantastic to watch yeah he spoke this week in press conferences saying about resilience is top of the list right now and uh you need that in the game don’t you and he’s been through a lot since the US Open he’s been very open about wanting to more fun in his life spending a bit of time in New York going to restaurants he’s a he’s a bit of a foodie wants to just get that element of of fun and speaking to Rich beam the other day rich said you know sometimes it’s really hard for golfers to actually to get that balance right well golfs are it’s an allc consuming sport you know these guys it’s so hard to leave the golf course after a bad round and let it go and you know Rory is someone who does think deeply about the game you know he’s dedicated to being the very best golfer that he can be be and it’s such a strange situation isn’t it because he’s won three times this year I think including the zoric with Shane Lowry and many people will look at it and think he’s actually had a bad year yeah because he’s not won that major championship again and the way that he lost it at Pinehurst obviously absolutely devastating what’s he what’s he doing right now he’s just going through his warm up I think he’s just on his wedges he’s just going to be psyching up through his iron so I imagine he’s heading out to the course in probably an hour or so um what your thoughts on his relationship with his caddy Harry it’s great I mean I it’s one of the strangest it’s coming for a lot of criticism but you it’s very odd and I can’t really understand why because he does win so much like he wins consistently multiple times every year and every time he does that it’s like oh how good is Rory how good is Rory how good is Rory and then when he doesn’t get across the line in a major it’s like I think he need to proper caddy kind of completely negating the fact that during that time period when he has been winning like car still been there it’s not like he’s gone away so ultimately the caddy has a massive impact but the biggest impact on if you’re going to win a tournament is how you play the decisions that you make got some uh stats on the right hand side of the screen there of you know half far he flying it what his carry is anything that pings out to you what’s he got in his what’s he got in his hand so4 that’s just going to be a wedge for a wedge for Rory maybe cruising a 9 but just a nice easy wedge down there I mean he hits it so high I mean like lovely little draw usually it’s just it’s fantastic to watch look looks pretty dapper as well today doesn’t he listen he’s a great he is a great close horse I mean anytime he wears anything he looks pretty good but if you had a physique like that you could probably make a bin line look good it’s an absolute joy to watch obviously it’s been 10 years since it’s oh we’re about sorry a cough no you can do H we’re live so you might occasionally cough 10 years since his last open Victory uh since his open victory at Royal Liverpool um it’s been it’s been too long hasn’t it we everybody here wants Rory maroy to win an Open Championship I’m sure everyone at home we’ve been through so much with him on back Nines in Majors but is isn’t that isn’t that thing isn’t that almost like the problem it feels like we’ve been through a lot yeah like we not hit any of the shots but it just feels so desperate like we everybody is desperate for him to get over that line and win another major and I think I think everyone’s pretty confident if he does win another one whether it be PGA the open even the US Open which he didn’t quite get through then he probably would kick on to win The Masters but it’s getting longer and longer you know it’s it’s a decade without a mjor now we’ve all been saying every year you know he needs to win more and he hasn’t so time does slip by it’s not going to wait and give him a major you know he needs to go out on that last day and sees it which is incredibly easy to say I you know but we we’re all supporting him we all want him to achieve it looking at his tea time here it’s very small writing I think any glasses 10:09 he’s playing with Max Homer and Tyrell Hatton what’ you make of that that grouping I mean that a that a fantastic group to Homer and Terell hon and Roy marroy I mean those three round a dinner table that’s you wouldn’t expect them to walk into that would you um we spoke to Terell Hutton actually uh yesterday and he’s his demeanor on the Range is so different to and he says it himself he gets quite fiery on the course doesn’t he but but he is actually a brilliant personality does open up quite a lot yeah he’s he’s a great player and I think it’s almost because of his attitude on the course sometimes which is you know fiery is a polite way of saying it sometimes uh it does get overlooked the fact that he’s a very good golfer you know he can hold his own against these players and his sh game is it’s just fantastic yeah so Rory coming off the back of the US Open what are your expectations for him at this Open Championship honestly I’m I’m scared of a repit I’m scared of him getting in contention on the last day in the final group and just fade in way I I can see it now I can feel it and I really don’t want it to happen but you know history I think probably will repeat itself again well it might not it might not be I hope it doesn’t I really hope it doesn’t on he’s been working hard chatting with Luke Donald had a some putting tips from Luke we’re going to try and catch up with the rer Cup captain Luke in just a moment and hopefully speak to Rory himself but for now let’s get back to commentary Simon Simon can you you can got this great bird eye view haven’t you can you see you can see exactly what we’re seeing oh yeah the magic of Rory maroy when he arrives he brings anura he’s one of he’s a he moves the needle wouldn’t you agree Tiger Woods Rory maroy there’s a few rare yeah he’s he’s he’s he’s lovely chat I was I did some feature groups last week and I was following him around on the course the way he strikes the ball is a second to none you could sit there and watch it all day you like to play around the golf actually and wherever he hits his drives you’d like to go there yourself and sit and and try and play the course from where he hits his drives it would be very interesting yeah it is mad and I mean the there is I would say you know he he was second in the open there is results second in the US Open and do you not think you know do not think the sort of like Tiger Woods in a sense changed the attitude tiger made you know even if you finished second in the open tiger made that feel as though you were still losing do you not think he changed the way that we see Tiger Tiger you know tiger was the guy who sort of like like hated second he was the person who absolutely made everyone feel as though second was rubbish it you know it depends what position you are in life doesn’t it you know second for a lot of people is is nice you know nice few quid and you know it’s lovely jubly but you know okay he finished second Rory but you know let’s put it this way if he hadn’t missed that three-footer on last if he hadn’t missed it he wouldn’t have got all this stick that he’s getting you know he very difficult part incredibly difficult part given the position that he obviously he you know if he if he gives it a go and takes a bit of the breakout he he he could be 7t away I mean I just think the you know with the attitude though of this whole if you’re second you are rubbish that for me that was Tiger who who put that in there the top three in the major was amazing people used to say well played boxy seconds in the major amazing you’re amazing last week and tiger almost put second into sort of like a shamed spot yeah no I know what you mean I know what you mean and but you know there’s only four of them a year yeah which is why I think it’s like you know you could you come to to you already Rory could also have the thing of Hey listen that was a great week for me I I was so close you know if I keep doing what I’m doing you know I I will make a part I you know I I asked FDO last year I think or the year before when we were in an open doing the commentary and I said to you how much harder is it to win a major than it is to win a Tour event and he said it is miles apart he said I can go on winning T her events day after day which he could yeah you know he he he was the only man I I actually asked him I said to him what was I said there’s a question I’ve been wanting to ask you for 44 years and he looked at me in utter horror and I said no no no don’t worry this was live on air he said no no I said what on Earth for a man that wins four or five tournaments every year what on Earth made you totally and utterly dismantle your swing and to cut a long story short he said that’s a good question he said I just realized I just realized in Majors he said that I didn’t have it I said what mentally he said mentally I had it he said but my swing didn’t he said and I had to change my swing he said and it was 2 years of really dark moments for him really was yeah Sir Nick falo built his game around being the best that’s what he wanted to do so we’ve got fantastic slab up the right hand screen all of this data is brought to you by top Tracer our technology partner here with the RNA and the open and live on the Range the huge screen that you can see the monitor to the left side all the players are looking to see what their results were so technology has really become a huge part of the game and we have it here for you live on the Range so that you can see what they see this is the place [Music] Rory maoy just going through his clubs Mike Bannon having a look at the trackman data so just all about the technology I know what he had for tea last night you know are you’re going to wonder why I know what he had for Te last night I went into a certain Supermarket I won’t give the name out but I went into a super bik up to the road tisserie chickens Simon and who was there Mr Banner how about that so I say good evening to you he’s he soon cleared off yeah scared him away so Rory maroy final day before his tea time tomorrow he’s going to warm up a little bit there just go through his numbers Harry Diamond cleaning the grooves Michael Bannon just guiding the movement as these guys work through he is some he’s a oneoff is he Rory Mao he’s fantastic strike right you know many many years ago I was in in sunning Hill and I was staying in a hotel around there and his mom and dad were in the hotel downstairs and they were there watching I think it was the match play they were watching and I said it Jerry said to me he said I’ve got a lad he said he’s quite good I thought oh yeah heard it heard this a thousand times you know you know this Li people come say oh my son’s really good he said no his name is Rory Rory maoy said he’s he’s he’s quite good I said where is he said he’s in bed he said he’s absolutely washed out he’s you know he’s run 36 holes today and he’s watched all the golf and he’s having a k he’s gone to bed early he said keep an eye out for him oh yeah Daddy was absolutely spot on he was yeah Jerry Rory maroy are you going to be Champion golfer of the year one more [Music] time let’s have a closer look at that swing he has to win more you know you can’t play 68 holes like he did you know be two ahead the other week and and say you’re not going to win more majes I just can’t see him not Wim oh no I think I think that’s right and I think one opens the doors to many so we are live at the range and you are most welcome to come and ask any of your questions at the Open Range anything that catches your eye we will try to get to it so let’s have a look maoy in communication with Michael Bannon some Dapper outfits and you can catch some of that if you’re not here and you can’t go through the amazing merchandise tent which is just like a huge sweetie home sweee shot please scan the QR code and there you can do your online shopping I’m telling you you have to get a Yellow Umbrella that is just if you don’t have one of those you’re not part the game a Yellow Umbrella the Yellow Umbrella I went to get one I went to get three I got the black and white one in the corner there but you didn’t get the yellow one I’ve got three at home safe and sound for some some dear friends who are not here we are at the 52nd open it is the final day Richard boxel Rory maroy so many hopes here’s an hours aligned yeah I mean I said it earlier on if you just join the these players now will be wanting this day to go by because you know it’s dragging On’s the wrong word but it does drag a little bit you know you’ve you’ve been playing Monday you’ve been playing Tuesday you’ve playing again Wednesday and then you know I almost the last te of time 4:27 tomorrow not that he’s at that tea off time but likes a Sheffer off at 10 3 yeah a long day I mean I played at 4:35 at St Andrews I played I came up the 18th hole at 10: to 10 at night amazing but it is the open and you know what it’s a marathon not a Sprint look at that finish so if Ry maroy if we superimpose his shot and put it over on 17 the difficulty of the 17th Richard boxal well number one I stood on it yesterday with Victor Perez and Podrick Harrington and the breeze was in off the left hand side and they were both knocking Seven Bells out of a three-wood to get the front edge and it was it was a brutal hole you’ve got the but bunker on the left which into a strong Breeze all of those bunkers obviously are in play even those two two bunkers short right are in play you got the rolloff areas as well um you know and TR on the open rotor these are pretty much the smallest Greens on the on the open Root there the greens are beautifully shaped I mean they really are superb and they’re in good condition obviously so Rory MCO let’s see what he’s got here look at that finish it’s just how I think it’s what what is capturing is how abruptly all of the speed stops it’s like it’s not it comes to such a sudden and balanced stop yeah the golf swing so Rory meroy with what I would say is a driving iron of some sort right I don’t know if that’s I think I think that must be a new addition for this week we have seen the manufacturers interacting a lot with the players just having a look at sort of the fivewood the seven wood the three iron he may have had that the Scottish last week Genesis Scottish sh I think yeah so the the if you were to copy one piece of the royal maoy swing I think the thing to copy is sort of just if we get to watch him hit here just watch how from the top of the back swing his he moves down into that left leg and then up so the dropping of the pelvis and then the pushing up of the pelvis for me is why he is able to create such a huge amount of speed I I love his finish position I think it’s fantastic but you’ve got to have the first bit right away from the ball so I would if I could I would take this takeaway please Lord could I have this just for a year and I think I could sort of cope with the rest of it I think I could nudge it down look at these shots this looks pretty good and Rory you were you were at the the Genesis you saw him play he was in form he is in form do you not agree no he is in form he’s in listen I think he’s in form trouble is everyone expects him to win every single week and that can’t happen but some of the positions he gets into you know his wedge players improved but there there was a point where his wedge play was not very good it was actually quite frustrating because you think he should win every single time he plays and he was he was fifth at TR in 216 so that is a good sign he must fancy the golf course and fancy his chances just moving around a few different shots here I mean it’s incredible the power isn’t it 270 carry off a nice low draw hits it so high normally can move the ball around he’s a good shot maker would you have that driving iron there the sort of the loft of the old one irons I think that they are I think they’re a little weaker I think that um the the the 16° shot is is I don’t know if there’s if there’s if it’s almost so hot it won’t stop yeah on a lyx turve so here we go watch the pelvis so it goes Rises and drops and Rises and that for me is the magic move me that’s incredible so 173 just as an indication 173 ball speed if you look at the top right of your screen that is PGA to average for a driver Rory first with imagine that is his three-wood which is probably 13 14 15 we don’t know exactly well we’ll go for 14 then sure we it’s right in the middle yep here we go but just the balance how the speed suddenly comes to an end he is looking across at our huge monitor our top Tracer technology capturing every single shot hit this week the player with the most who’s hit who’s been on the Range the most Richard boxel fancy guess um no I don’t know go on Alex noren Oh nor is he yeah yeah he’s got some interesting moves in his swing it does practice swings anyway I wonder you wouldn’t want to be one of those golf balls hit by Rory ma or I suppose you’d have a lovely view but you would get a little little sting get a nice a of the course wouldn’t you yeah 140 ft view anyway amazing to watch this Rory maroy soon heading out for his final practice round be interesting to see I would imagine yeah as we thought so it is minwu Lee Ryan Fox Rory maroy and Tom McKibbon ran Fox member of Fox Hills Golf Club which is a very important golf club for especially Junior development Junior development is all about what the RNA is doing so make sure if you’re a member of your Club you grow the game look after your Juniors they are the future so congratulations to Fox Hills and their Junior Academy they have always had that as sort of one of their steel strands something to be admired so out with the driver for Rory in your way of teaching would you you know a lot of people’s talk about moving the ball back in their STS etc etc did you not let’s just watch this woof off you go did you not play the driver just off the inside of your left heel and then for every Club you used you just moved your right foot in and out I think that is exactly right I think that moving the ball you know there’s there has been a lot of chat about launch you’ve got to get launch and people sort of put the ball Way Forward and lent way back and I just I don’t think that that actually was a a great solution it was a difficult difficult change your body change so your swing is the same you want you want that at the bottom moving the ball around is tough so let’s have a look okay there we go so here on the right side are our longest drives Scotty Sheffer 334 Rory at 313 let’s see if Rory puts in a bit of effort he’ll he’ll I’ll tell you what Rory Maro is the sort of chap I bet you he’ll look across there and he’ll say you know what I’m going to I’m not having that I’m not having that I’m not having that let’s see I’m saying Rory maoy stays there until he out drives Scotty Sheffer he’s looking across he’s looking to see where he is I think we’re going to see full turbo before he goes he’s not he’s not going to leave the driving range with Scotty Sheffer ahead of him on on length let’s have a look now is he going to have a look over to the left will when it lands I think yep there we go how far’s he got that one 331 oh it just needs another four yards on it yeah this is a good little game isn’t it just goes to show always competitive he W he’ll he’ll he’ll get this he will in the next in the in the next five minutes Rory mckoy’s name will be just shuffled up across a to top of Scotty shaer I think is he taking a run up for this one this is the the Happy Gilmore yeah here we go so he keeps looking over there at that screen he’s not having it no he is not having it this will be the high launch teed up just a hair more I think this is the one yeah higher launch yeah stay right behind it and give it proper Bel with those hands whack let’s have a look how good is that swing that looks beautiful that’s the one I’ll go for that one the higher one oh yeah must it hang on I don’t know no maybe you had too much spin on that ah 318 318 but 167 167 Apex one I think 90 is the is the PJ tour average so that is absolutely I mean that’s miles high so well when he hits it you when you stand close to him and watch him hit it it of it takes off okay and then it seems to go again yeah it’s remarkable yeah I think maybe we’re using the wrong balls here we go may be right soft hands so that was the lower one that’s not even made 300 is it no that was I think there was a stinger much much lower yeah there you go so that was yeah so hit you can see he’s teed it down a little bit there the hole of the top of the ball underneath the top of the club this is his Link’s t- shot let of look 90 ft of Apex you can see working hard to keep that ball flight down yeah 96 that’s the Stinger little baby fade amazing look at the differences in the Apex there Rory maroy shots so R meroy this is the Stinger absolutely magic it’s the it’s the balance of the movement it’s incredible isn’t it fantastic what interesting Tiger Woods said to his son Charlie don’t copy my swing if you’re going to copy a swing copy his swing cuz he always finishes in Balance yeah he he does it’s great it really is it’s lovely to watch you can watch it all day long that sort of stinging low shot is what he needs on the back nine here it’s a brutal back nine you play that night out to presswick airport and then you turn for home you got one diag hang on hang on hang on is this the one go go go go go go go oh they’re tied TI they are tied I’m telling you there was no way Rory was leaving no you said 5 minutes and he he’ll beat it but uh I think he might accept tying it I’m I’m there’s no way he’s no way he accept tying it he is not having that 169 I mean you wouldn’t even be able to see that you wouldn’t you wouldn’t be able to follow that something going 190 mph at 169 ft in the air it’s a that’s a missile it’s not a golf shot right here we go Rory to nudge ahead of Scotty Sheffer let’s put some effing in Rory come on now different shot that’s his little baby draw that’s well shorten at that 29 that was the bullet that’s the that’s the low one but that will run oh it run plenty of run yeah yeah what times do you say he’s playing he’s off at what he is 10 going to be 10:40 Min Woodley Ryan Fox Rory maroy Tom mck what a what an amazing day for Tom mckevin he’s a good player minwu Lee now he’s got I think he’s got a little bit of pizzazz as well you’re a minw Lee fan yeah very much so yeah again another great swinger I think Min Le here we go let’s have a look that’s the Stinger as well this will be just under 100 ft of Apex baby draw having a look across to our top Tracer technology Tom mck as you say very nearly a few weeks ago when the um Italian Open he his caddy Dave McNeely was telling me he said I I got everything done and you know I’d probably had a couple of beers and I’d packed everything up and I was down at the train station and everyone was dropping shots on this back Knight on the on the golf course so here they came back one playoff hole and Marcel seam one bit more height on that one 3:15 they easing back a bit no let’s have a look I’m I’m telling you I know Rory he’s not walking off in second place not on long not on carry he owns that there’s his run best results some amazing run isn’t it okay oh no 85 bll speed that’s not enough maybe hit that a hair high at the face oh no there it is there he’s got it 3:45 and now we’re done Scotty shefer have a closer look at some of that and he has as well look but back on well done S I give you full credit for that our work here is over amazing how you go there so he’s going to leave that as a marker that’s going to be up there all day and that just going to show you are not as good as me and that’s a message well you not as long as me you not as long as me yes there was a little bit of grittiness he wanted to do that didn’t he yeah you could tell n nud it n it that was close nud it past Scotty Sheffer Y and everyone’s going to come on there and go Rory maoy 345 you carry though yo carry carry yo yeah it’s massive I know they hit the ball the wrong way but that’s a big hit that that’s used to be driving a wedge power four that three that is if you imagine three soccer pitches in a row and half a soccer pitch yeah all lined up in a row that’s a long that’s a long Long Carry maroy has got turbo amazing and now what’s the missing piece Richard how does he get his hands on the trophy what’s he got to do what’s he got to do he just got to just do what he does go out and play I I really have no fears really that he won’t be in the top 10 come Sunday afternoon doesn’t seem to matter you know if he goes around even if he knocks it round somewhere in 73 which is a couple over pies he seems to do it round On’s round three you know as I say he’ll be there top 10 he will be there at the weekend we see it every single time he’s he’s always even if he’s a little bit out of it on the last day seems to do something low 65 66 get back in that run of top 10 again I’m [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] control it’s often out of your reach your opponent a line cool even the bounce of a ball every game is full of unexpected twists and TS you have the lows the injuries being away from home the [Music] pressure and the incredible hies the winds exploring the world every day a new opportunity life is rarely a straight line we can help wherever it takes you [Music] [Music] you will definitely know whose bag this is and we stood by the man himself Rory maroy Rory it’s um it’s glorious to see you and and your bag it’s just tell us about this one uh the dog yes so I got the dog uh at the 2004 Rider cup at Oakland Hills I played the junior Rider cup that year and I got the dog in the merchandise tent uh and there’s been a few iterations of the dog since in the 20 years that I’ve had a dog on my on my driver but uh yeah sort of reminds me of simpler times so it’s uh it’s nice this one has definitely give me tree eyes yeah he’s uh he’s looking a little sad actually he shouldn’t be sad cuz I’m hitting the driver very well we just saw that actually U here on the rain at at Royal TR really great to see you it’s been a busy few weeks as we all know it’s all been documented and great to hear from you in the press conference you’re out and about I’ve just just spoken to a couple of your team you’re going out and playing the back nine today and Adrian actually one of your your team was saying that the practice actually it really happens on the golf course you’re spending a lot less time on the Range why exactly for all our viewers at home why is that yeah um I think once you get to this stage of the golf tournament um there’s not a lot you can do here on the Range that um is going to change things you know from now until uh you know I hit my first t- shot in about 24 hours time you know you’re not really going to you know the work is done in the previous weeks leading up to up to this week so it’s really about just getting yourself comfortable on the golf course getting your lines off teas um getting comfortable with you know especially on this back line that I’m going to play today getting comfortable with where your misses are going to be more so than any anywhere else there’s certainly better Sid to miss it on uh cuz you know there’s so many tough holes in that back nine so just to to get another look at them uh this morning I think it’s going to be a good thing yeah and also the the change how adaptable and versatile you have to be coming from the states just tell us how big the difference is coming and playing on links Turf yeah it is it’s a lot different um yeah even just how the club gets through the turf the the different shots you’re going to need around the greens um you know the different ball flights you’re going to have to hit because of you know the changing weather conditions so you know it was good to play the Scottish open last week and and get ref familiarized you know it’s sort of a shame we only get to play lyns golf a couple of times a year now um especially you know that you know I grew up and played a lot of tournaments on links but it’s always nice to get back and but I I always feel like I need that week to um you know to get comfortable again in these conditions I suppose with um TR as well I mean obviously played this course quite a few times but we’ve been chatting about this I don’t think I’ve ever seen a an open course which is so split down the middle as far as like the front and the back nine absolutely just try and explain if you can that back nine the the level of difficulty that you’re going to be facing on that coming in yeah it’s Relentless um you know I would say even even starting off in 10 10’s probably one of the more gentle holes on the back nine but it’s a blind t- shot you know it sort of get you a little uncomfortable um but then 11 12 13 14 15 get a little rest bite in 16 with a with a par five but then 17 and 18 as well today it’s okay sort of wind is d um yesterday we played it was straight back into the wind I’ve never hit as many three and four hands into Greens in a row so it obviously it all depends on the wi conditions um and if you do get that back nine into the wind it’s you know you you should even par and you’ve uh you’re you’re absolutely delighted absolutely delighted so um yeah it’s a depending on the conditions it’s a bit of a war of attrition but um you know that’s it’s the Open Championship and it’s supposed to be difficult it is predictable we keep saying you had a good finish here in 2016 when Henri W you were tied fifth so some some good memories flooding back yeah I didn’t really feel like I was in the golf tournament because Henrik and Phil sprinted so much ahead of the rest but uh yeah I had a good finish here and um you know I finished off the tournament well I shot a good round uh on Sunday shot 67 so um yeah you know just have to rekindle the you know the the good memories of of that week and the the things that I did well around here and um and also you know especially you know TR maybe more than anywhere else because it’s on this west coast of Scotland it you know those bands of weather can come in pretty quickly um and I got the RO you know I got the wrong side of the draw last time um you know so hopefully I’m on the right side of it this week and uh you know I can give myself a you know another good opportunity to try to get a second clar jug and we we definitely we we all hope so you had a some putting tips from Luke Donald this week yeah Luke came and walked around yesterday he’s um you know he’s doing some work for TV this week he just wanted to to come and walk around and get a feel for you know how we’re going to play the golf course and yeah I just picked his brain a little bit about you know when he came back to link greens what did he think about um you know he talked a lot about the tempo of the stroke he tried to make his putting stroke a little a little brisker and a little shorter um just you know if you look at all the old videos like the 70s and the 80s how much pop the the old you know the old guys had in their stroke and I don’t necessarily want to pop in my stroke but just a little a little a little more assert assertiveness through the ball which was something that look concentrated on and you know a nice a nice little tip oh great stuff and you you’re playing with Max Homer and Terell Hutton in your group happy with that or do you not want to play with them uh it’s a it’s a um as draws go I thought it was a very good draw yeah absolutely yeah good to see Terell I had had dinner with Terell a couple of Sundays ago in London a few of the Ridder cup uh saw teammates got together which was really nice uh and yeah I play with Max all the time back in the state so it’s a very comfortable gripping obviously I don’t get to see Terell as much anymore but um yeah it’s a it’s a good draw great so we we’ll let you looking very Dapper must say everyone in my ear is saying you’re looking looking great my belt oh I’m sure we can okay he’s hiding that you’re off to the 10th great St R really good to see you wish you the best of luck and yeah back to our commentary Team Awesome Rory maroy he’s he is magic isn’t he he’s got’s a special chap he really isn’t good job very very generous with his time he’s an amazing Ambassador um and and really do wish him a very very successful week it’s it was interesting to hear him talk about the back nine cuz it is a brutal back nine I mean you with that normal wind in two off the left hand side you got the railway line that runs down the rightand side you know down the 11th it is is it is very difficult and if like he says if you could if you can knock it round there in that back nine in 35 level par you take that every day now in the middle of the screen I believe is the elegant Australian who is in amazing form could Adam Scott could Adam Scott win this week yeah they can there’s a lot of players that could win here this week but uh I actually thought he was going to win last week if it wasn’t for that fantastic finish brilliant finish from Robert McIntyre 4 under for the last five holes yeah Scotty just looks I watched him on I watched him on yesterday morning and I just thought he was looking fantastic he went out with Cam Smith who also said wow we just we just witnessed the stripes so Scotty has said at every single place he’s looked he would be an incredibly popular winner is is he for you one one of the best swings yeah I think he’s got a he’s got an iconic swing and if you look behind him coming onto the driving range The Big Easy he’s and also got an iconic swing he just won the last senior major at Firestone but for me Adam Scott I think the angles there like if you were to say how are you supposed to stand to the ball it’s look how tall and elegant that is the hips there is something about that address position as much as he hates that one which is amazing [Music] yeah I I remember when he first came out onto the tour Adam Scott I think his first win was I think it was in catar was his first win quite a long ago I think Rory’s leaving the range Rory has a lot of very Rowdy fans young fans catch an autograph he is very generous now look at that posture like those angles I think there’s more hip hinge than they used to be he he sort of looks at the ball down his nose doesn’t he do you know what I mean yeah everything creates height there’s like you know you can tell am golfers there’s like too much squat there’s not the right angles this just looks like it you know how should I stand to the ball let’s have a look how he does it so Adam Scott will also have a look at that and say Rory Rory Mao hit at 345 he’s moving in age now Adam I don’t think You’ be able to launch it out that far I tell you what he’s he’s no have a look at this so look at that posture trying to get the chest to take the arms away absolutely hates it that’s the mistake High left side low right side through the ball maybe just trying to see if he could put a little extra pressure on that and get close to Rory but Rory R Rory’s ruined everyone’s day now here we go right see where he’s taking the club there now watch on the way back does he take it on that line doesn’t does he takes it a lot further on the outside yeah Adam Scott just trying to link up chest and arms in the takeaway that’s a winning shot there he has a look he has a look and goes can you believe Rory hit it 30 yards past that how has he done that I’m a foot taller than him nice yesterday seen [Music] it so final day of practice before we start tomorrow the 152nd Open championship at Royal TR that is Adam Scott in your picture Rory maroy has been on the driving range and just left Ernie L’s just came into Vision all the superstars are aligning here at Royal trun and your winner is I’m I’d love can I have Rory maroy yeah cuz I am yeah I’d love Rory maroy to win look at that I mean can you imagine you like if you want to learn how to how to have rhythm and posture you’re going to see L’s Rhythm Adam Scott posture so have a look uh El’s yeah been around a long time now Ernie look Ernie El silky smooth swing watch this how many places it’s it’s it’s an open that gives you this view isn’t it well you always say to everyone people always say to me where’s the best spot to go out on the course to watch the golf now I say the range yeah go to the range you’ll see everything there you know what though Rory’s Rory’s message to everyone right which is deliberate Rory’s messaged everyone and they they’re looking at it he’s looking at it they’re chatting about it was he just hit it 3:45 or today just now yeah yeah he just left so Adam Scott putting in some effort he will have a look closer look up to the left in a mo there it is that’s as good as I got I’m 20 Ys behind great amazing so there you go Adam Scott there was one in 2012 that was painful so here we go not sure that’s not Adam Scott’s Drive no not at 144 carry it’s not that might be it though coming up no Adam Scott’s Drive is about 175 178 miles hour of ball speed so that is Ernie Ells who is just next door clipping a few wedges so El’s hasn’t lost it as he it’s still like it’s very flowing Isn’t it nice excellent timing and a big win fir stone is a really really difficult course I’ll tell you what you get some people on the Range here don’t you oh yeah but you know what it’s the Hub isn’t it there’s a lot of work to be done right Adam Scott I think these are about as fast as that Scott Scotty’s Gott there he’s having a look to see where he how close he gets to Rory I haven’t asked you you got somebody here that you’re looking after who are you looking after no I’m not coaching anybody this week oh you’re not no no no nobody no um so no pounding away on the range for you no but I have I’ve been there every day I love watching it I think it’s it’s magic to watch it I think to coach the tour the tour guys now you’ve got to be like available every week and I I did that I was 17 years on the on the go what’s more satisfying for you ask Peter FES yesterday you you teach amateur and you teach Pros what what gives you more satisfaction result see more results in I loved coaching like you know the tension of a last day and could you unlock a little a could you find a a a key to unlock a door to get a player to to to up his game and everything I was really into that so I’m still into that there must be something wrong with me but anyway there’s there’s Matt belam he’s working with Matt Wallace he’s he’s a super coach Matt belum of like a ma Grady disciple very very educated coach so but that’s where I think you’ve got to be a good psychologist you’re there on the last day you’ve got to you’ve got to somehow get it over to your player yeah you know he’s not going to I don’t think he’s going to unlock anything on that day I think you can get into his head yeah but that is just a case of it’s also a case of like what should I pick to think about like my brain keeps going this way that’s not a good place you try to find things which are helpful to the players where they can go back and have a really good diagnostic tool kit and with a top Pro how many swings F used to have one in the back swing one in the down swing used to match them up thumbs up thumbs up or move into the so almost like a rhythm thumbs up yeah he he found his rhythm from the swing thoughts so here we go here we go come and join us if you’ve got any questions at the Open Range send them in and we will get as many back to you as we can [Music] on the te she was staring this one down and for good reason look at this just delightfully done she’s on top of the world going directly at the hle what go oh get in there there’s something about the AIG Women’s Open oh my goodness [Music] [Applause] [Music] where do you see yourself in 10 years in 10 years I see myself making partner at this FM has been sold what to who some multinational out in Dubai where at 7: a.m. and the temperature is a very warm welcome Viv this is Ben anything you need to know he’s your lawfully wedded husband in good times and in total chaos B what time are we expecting twins life is rarely a straight line wherever it takes you HSBC can help there’s no way I should be here I should be dead or in prison I mean how else would you gauge this a guy comes off of a cotton form you know to become one of go greates are you kidding me he hit the flag and the crowd he just stormed onto the scene he has put it in he’s a magician he’s got I never had any dreams about going on tour I didn’t know anything about it his story’s amazing his journey is amazing what a great we were poor we needed money to buy foodo a 28-year-old broken didn’t belong I knew I didn’t belong was unbelievable and he put up a lot that past is so painful to him I would like to forget it to tell you the truth our culture has a short memory I think it’s time for us to be reintroduced to the Gino I’m playing for my life out here you know it is the American dream wild he hustled the [Music] world and here we are once again the penultimate hole the 17th why not watch it with Tiger Woods on show as well the crowd as I’ve mentioned many times is absolutely massive the grand stands packing out at the end of this whole but what an absolute Brute 242 y but today it’s playing a little easier because as we mentioned before the window’s over the left shoulder but just to give you a gauge of the energy down here it is electric it’s so cool to see the fans packing out the practice days this is what the open is all about it’s all about the people all about the fans and that’s this is their one chance for a lot of them it could be the last chance to see Tiger Woods at an open will he return next year will he return in the future I believe he will I think he’s got many more in him but it’s always that nervous time hoping that he’ll keep returning as an open Champion we won’t go into his press conference uh battle with colum Montgomery but look at this the fans are absolutely lining these fear ways such a tough hole I can’t I just can’t visualize me getting anywhere near putting the ball on the green here and look at the big broadcast cameras here as well they’re fully set up these look like a seriously seriously big machine these cameras they do the business and then we’ve also got look at this shirt how good that’s a tiger fan right there definitely going to try and have a have a word to him shortly Maverick Nick ne’s just hit a t-shot and believe it or not it’s not on the green all right Tiger Woods so in his bag he’s gone five wood three iron Three Wood a driving three IR so but I believe here he’s probably got just a four iron maybe even a five with this wind helping him try and get that ball to stop so 242 yards got to get it up there 210 so I think that’s a five on in handy started it high and mighty and fading beautifully is it fading enough oh it’s a golf shot it is an absolute golf shot you would take that four out of four rounds this week he’s about 20 foot hard of the green yeah it’s a good swing really good swing I mentioned it yesterday this hole is what I’m looking forward to the most come Saturday and Sunday afternoon I believe it’s going to catch a few players out it’s going to cause some drama Tom Kim at his third Open Championship 22 years old little pup little rascal hold your line even if you’re slightly off and see you later that’s bunker bound but while here I think we’ve got we’ve got to check out we’ve got to check out this shirt don’t we hello mate how are you hey I’m well thanks mate this top is fantastic is this homemade uh no no I bought it online bought it online yeah mate you’re looking the absolute part that accent was that Canadian is that a Canadian accent I can hear yeah yeah I am Canadian where are you from I’m from Halifax Nova Scotia nice nice and you’re obviously here to watch tiger how cool is it to be here and be so close oh it’s unreal this is the second time I’ve seen him I was probably 15 or 16 the first time uh it’s my first trip over to Europe I’m super excited to be here first trip to the open first trip to Europe first trip to the open both for sure yeah what are your first impressions of the I guess the setup and how magical this place is oh it’s it’s unreal it’s fantastic super pure everything’s awesome awesome really beautiful course so you haven’t obviously been to Scotland too many times because you’re just wearing a just wearing a t-shirt but it’s a beautiful day isn’t it but have you got extra layers for later this afternoon oh yeah I got a lir you know I’m from Canada though like there yeah that’s a good point and uh just what two holes left of tiger so you’re going to enjoy it and then what are you going to do this afternoon uh I’m going to go look for a Col Montgomery shirt and see if I can find one with with Clare Jug on it we love that pit of luck to you mate nice to meet you enjoy tiger fantastic oh really great stuff a Super Fan speaking uh following Tiger Woods David Howell you’re here for the first time I’m seeing you for the first time great to see you here live at the range um it’s a pretty special place to be I’ve had Pete Finch this morning we’ve caught up with Rory maroy who was in very relaxed mood actually I I asked him about practice he’s not going to spend too much time in the practice range he said the practice really happens out on the golf course so he’s going to get out there for as many holes as possible would you would you agree to do that here at the open perfect absolutely get on the golf course you know playing these links wins typically this often happens they’ve had one wind for the first three days going to switch tomorrow it’s going to be completely different they won’t have faced the golf course that they’re going to play tomorrow in their practice rounds which is great isn’t it so it’s going to be a completely different challenge but yeah quite right get out on the golf course and hit a few shots and probably knows what he’s doing doesn’t he knows the golf course and he’s in good form we had a bit of an inspiring chat I said you can do it this week he said I know I said when you when you win and lift the claric Jer you’ll remember the chat that I had with you telling there go you were you were the difference Peter was taking the Mickey out of me um no it was really really wonderful to chat to him he was such a relaxed demeanor had his team around him you Michael and and Harry and you know the fans say we all want him to succeed don’t we it’s the story that it’s a fairy tale story if it happens come Sunday but this is what we’re here for to to watch possibly aor Victory well we do but there’s 157 guys here who don’t want him to win cuz they want to do it don’t they get their hands on that coveted clar J but of course um yeah certainly a fan favorite no doubt about it and I would be willing him on it would be great to see him lift a major trophy once again yeah let’s have a little walk down down here uh we’ve got uh Ernie Ells who’s just one his first senior major we spoke to him on Monday flew overnight he won at Firestone and was in absolutely brilliant mood I bet he was yes he’s been going to Firestone since for the last 22 years and finally a victory on Sunday on holiday what major was that then it was the senior’s major senior major yeah brilliant yeah brilliant result from Ernie who um is obviously a previous open Champion but just one of the best swings in the game amazing isn’t it I know I’ve known Ernie for 25 years and every time I see him I said what are you working on Ernie he says bit of setup oh really anything else he says just a bit of setup yeah and a bit of bit of Rhythm fine setup Andy it was that easy I know but but the the best plays make it easy don’t they not too many swing thoughts Shan Crocker actually next to Ernie ell’s on the on the right hand side um with the cut off sleeves we spoke to him yesterday Jamie Goff is his coach and Steve got Stevie on the bag and he he qualified uh it was a late qualifier for this but American looking forward to this event last played in an open at Cary so quite a few years so for these guys it’s brilliant to come well Sean’s you know regular the DP World Tour DP World Tour member great lad hits the absolute Mile and and very very popular on our tour he’s a nice lad and his uh his caddy Stevie he’s all right as well yeah he’s not bad they’ve got an interesting Dynamic actually aren you Steve you’re okay it’s not true what they say about you you know he’s not going to get rid of him not just yet uh let’s have a little wander further down the range and lots of uh key George actually was out on the course with the KE kiwi contingency Ryan Fox being one of them he’s back here at the Open Championship few of them playing together but these practice days they are so crucial and you can feel the atmosphere building for those tea times tomorrow morning as I said to Rory you’re playing with tyell hon and Max hom that’s quite a lovely grouping isn’t it uh yeah absolutely very comfortable with that short Max is a nice guy trro he’s always good to watch as well so they’ll be a good vibe there um and they’ll enjoy playing with Rory of course no doubt it’s one of the star attractions it’s nice on a Thursday at the open isn’t itad it um and it’s a long day the tea times they they spread from 6:30 to whatever nearly 4:00 isn’t it and quite a crucial thing getting that nice tea time I always wanted to get off early Thursday morning if you could teed off First Once you did remind us what year that was uh I can’t remember but we were at Hoy Lake and then and my my clothing sponsor had me in bright fluorescent green I remember we talk about so uncomfortable cuz I’m a beige man really we a blue man not not not not fluoresent green think very uncomfortable we need to get a phot of that you’ve gone very dark today but yeah it’s a great honor teing off funny enough when I played here in in ’97 uh I was in the first group here as well wasn’t so much an honory starter role then though it was just like you’re a qualifier get out of the way 6:35 off you go um but if you got an early start tomorrow you’re delighted because you just not the anticipation is over quickly it’s an early morning but get out before the winds get up and try and put a good score on the board yeah I mean if you were Rory said he was on the wrong side of the draw in 2016 and if you were you I mean you just couldn’t keep up with the likes of Stenson and Phil Mickelson back then could you and interestingly enough um I felt that week clearly those two mson and Stenson were were way better than everybody else but the you had to be up with the leaders come Saturday because the late tea times the wind started just dying down as the afternoon went on and if you were off like late morning or something two or three hours before them trying to catch up you just couldn’t do it because the conditions got so much better so yeah really important here I think to be right up with the leaders all week yeah I mean the the tea times go on so late don’t they 3 4:00 it’s unbelievable bringing the bins in they call it bringing thein you feel the last group we used to talk about if you’re a qualifier and the bin men are coming along emptying the bins as you’re trying to hold puts yeah oh my goodness um let us know what your thoughts are about this Open Championship previous open championships the chat that we had with Rory hash theopen range uh we’ll read out some of your questions and get them answered uh for now let’s head out though to Wayne Riley he’s managed to catch up with Tommy Fleetwood how to you Wayne Tommy play in America um and to come back to Links Golf how do you feel about it growing up on this kind of stuff Southport yeah um I yeah I I love Links Golf I feel I feel like most people do um there’s an adjustment there always is I think uh the way that the sea a hits it the winds the way the course reacts so there’s there’s always an adjustment like period even even you know for someone like me I guess who has played on links all my life but we don’t do it very often these days but it’s uh it’s great like I I love it yeah I mean you say that you don’t play would you like to see more of it linkx golf yeah yeah with the nicest of condition you get that in Orlando mate no no you don’t dear no you don’t so how you find the golf course the rough’s rough’s up it’s it’s tough Paramount you know you’ve got to find the Fairway it is tough isn’t it I yeah like at the last open I was playing terrible when I played here and um I think you know you can easily look at um Henrik and Phil going down the stretch and Henrik obviously broke record I watched it it was unbelievable JB Holmes was third about 10 shots Beyond 600 it was cuz I looked and 200 made the top 10 so like it’s easy to uh look at that and think that you know this that you have to shoot some ridiculous scores and it don’t feel like that’s possible really when you’re playing the back nine into the teeth of the win like yesterday so it’s a great test it really really is it’s proper um it’s a very very tough venue and I think it has got you know a good list of winners as well which is always a good sign you’ve got a great game for any golf course Tommy but this do you feel as though you’re built for it I I feel as though you’re built for this time of game you can flatten it out you can hit all the shots I mean do you feel confident coming in here yeah I try and um would not get too far ahead of yourself I I try to uh make try and make sure that I’m built for any type of golf course but uh I I do love Links Golf I love the challenges that it presents I love obviously do like flighting the ball um it’s always been a strength of mine um and figuring a golf course out yeah I you know I I love the test that it that it presents and I always enjoy playing Links Golf thanks for the chat mate you’re a Charming Man great week this week he thanks yeah very good at least one of the two is in that picture Matt Ro alongside me Andrew cart here having a little chat to you from live at the range an interesting point that David how was making who actually looked like he should be ziplining in to deliver some chocolates was that the golf course is going to be a completely different Golf Course to what these players have prepared on yeah the beauty of lyx golf Andrew isn’t it I mean and you know as as the players say as David was alluding to as well I mean when you late off in the afternoon sometimes you get a massive break because the wind dies down you’re playing a totally different Golf Course to the early morning starters because they read from you know so early in the morning to so late at night it the draw is essential at an Open Championship get the right side of the draw look down there and sweet swinging big hitting Tony Fino five top 10 he’s had this year really good performance at the US Open he was third on that occasion just behind meloy and dambo good to see him back playing well again yeah makes the game Look So Easy doesn’t he very low hands of the dress and it’s it’s just a flick of the wrist that’s all the golf swing is it’s just it’s so Ultra simple there you go quite a bit of sha lean very low hands and set it release it and well I mean that’s what you call a handsy golf swing isn’t it yeah low hands and um it’s incredible he’s got huge hands I don’t know whether we’re going to get a chance to but a look at his grip but he I am led to believe he has like 13 layers of tape under the right hand of his grip he quite possible I mean he’s got huge hands he’s a big chap obviously as you say huge hands huge feet and uh yeah I mean it’s just he plays the game so differently got to say you know the consistency he’s had this year sometimes when you see him on the putting surface Andrew he just gets a little bit edgy to me and some of The Strokes are very short and a little bit nervy and I wonder if that holds him back from that next level the major championship level Maybe yeah I think you’re right you know you got a whole pots come Sunday and it’s definitely been his Achilles heel of late but you know some slightly more cheery performances over the last few weeks that he’s played one or two putts starting to go in maybe he’s found a thought there that certainly helps take the pressure off yeah it was interesting what D was saying there that she was speaking to Rory earlier and he’s not doing that much practice on the Range he’s doing it on the of course getting used to the the feel of the conditions and that’s something I always felt when I went to an Open Championship Andrew you obviously played a lot as well I didn’t want to spend that much time bashing balls but I did want to get to the chipping GD and I did want to get out in the golf course and throw balls everywhere around the greens because to me the art of lyx golf you’re not going to hit the greens you’re not going to especially in strong winds if the wi picks up so you’ve got to have all the little shots the bump and runs you’ve got to see the short game shots clearly the sand is different in the bunkers it’s lighter it’s fluffier you know you can play different spinny shots out of Link sand than you can out of other bunkers on on tour so for me the key was being on the golf course and practic in the short game yeah I like that I think some of the mistakes that we all make certain in the early opens that we played was that that we spent far too much time out there on the Range hitting balls doing all that kind of thing and and and in in effect zapping your energy before you actually got out there because you need every ounce of it when you got to deal with the elements that links go for throughout you and every open Champion you ever speak to will will tell you that by the end of the week they are physically and mentally exhausted and your spot on right you need to have all of those reserves left and uh that’s what the top players do they manage the time so much better and that’s what the younger players learn from the top player is how to manage that time yeah it’s it’s tough for the the debutants and the and the amateurs in that cuz they come there they get fresh golf balls or friends and family are coming to watch some play in a major championship and before they know where they are they just spent hours on the Range in front of everybody having fun before the real work really sort of starts what’s that has he got a alignment he’s got alignment stick there which um he’s obviously just wanted to make sure he doesn’t drop it too far inside cuz if he does he’ll skew himself in the forearm there you go that’s not something I would have risked ever because I definitely would have injured myself there you go he’s just making sure he doesn’t drop it too far inside and get trapped lovely top Tracer technology there just showing you exactly what he’s tried to do there’s no sign of it flipping over to the left I mean it moves left but that’s just because where the camera is uh looking slightly behind him 213 carry 11 degree of launch just one foot a curve yeah that was impressive yeah one foot of curve the most amazing thing was we were watching Dustin Johnson yesterday hitting just 110 115 y wed shots with 17 ft of curve and how he how yeah really amazing how he was cutting them hitting them to get them to land softly and keep the control the speed control the power and I was always somebody Andrew that when I was chiping or pitching I always tried to see a little fade I like just to hit a soft fade when I was pitching oh I mean but I mean to have that consistency with the wedges be able to control that into the breeze down Breeze shots like that just incredible you would have thought for f now with the way he plays the game that the way that he is a very handsy player very creative player that that lyx golf would suit him you know he should be able to knock the ball down low he should be able to change the flight quite easily but he does have power on tap there you go there is the alignment stick we’re talking about it’s just at a nice angle that’s being set carefully so that he can keep the club head outside of that keep the hands outside of that and it’s just a reminder I would actually put a tennis ball or something on the top of that just to make sure Andrew in case I got it wrong and I didn’t stick it through the middle of my hand it’s interesting you know what we’re talking about what he’s doing here on the Range but you’re quite right Mark you know he probably needs to focus a little bit more about what happens on the putting green you know spending the time figuring out the pace cuz you’re not going to be able to hold putts if you don’t have the correct piece yeah and I mean historically links greens I mean don’t forget most of the PGA Tour Pros that DP World Tour Pros are used to playing greens 11 and 1 half 12 or even faster when you come to a lynx golf course because of the change in the ties the change in the breezes and how quickly the wind can get up they rarely get them much above sort of 10 10 and a half Andrew do they they have to keep them slower because of the wins that we’ll we pick up yeah totally Breeze is going to pick up a little bit over the next few days and that’s going to become a factor the golf course here the shortest par 4 on the back nine is actually longer than any of the other par fours on the front nine the back nine is just a beast around this golf course it’s a very sort of weak left hand grip he has there also yeah like I do like that that little bit of sharling I do think sometimes you look at players they get a little too neutral in their setup Andress it’s nice to have just a a little bit of shaft Lane it’s busy busy down on the Range isn’t it a lot of work being done certainly is sweet swinging a the El they in the middle of your picture just about to take the club back there he is not much has changed they 33d yeah appearance this week amazing I played with Ernie in his very first DP World Tour event I can’t even remember how many years ago it’s so long ago I played with him in uh in in Holland and I just came off the golf course and I and I remember saying to Gordon brand J in the evening I’ve just played with a a world number one there he cannot not make it to world number one he’s that good and the rhythm is the thing isn’t it that that’s held him in the great stead Ernie and in a way fow’s a little bit that way he’s not a he’s not a power hitter in terms of he hits it hard is he I mean he’s obviously huge but I mean it’s really quite a sort of lazy Rhythm another look at that grip there see all the layers of tape under apparently it takes the rep almost an hour to do each grip I like he’s not a club favorite a rep favorite when he comes didn’t want them regripped do you know there’s no player in the game of golf I can think of that has the hands lower than that I mean they’re almost below his knee aren’t they well it is unusual because nor I mean he’s obviously very efficient and very comfortable with it a lot of tall players would use the height to create the massive big levers to prepare the ball even further just another little clip away there with a his hybrid at know how smooth that is and it’s just effortless and look at the carry on there still going still going my goodness me 281 carry with a little hybrid yeah it’s pretty impressive it’s definitely going to be one to watch well we managed to be able to find something for Wayne Riley to do he’s been a pretty busy boy at last he’s in the golf course now with the last man to win here Henrik what’s it like to come back I would witness that that Sunday uh that they they they they say it Rivals a jewel in the sun 77 I think it was every bit as good what’s it like to come back to this place I thought it was better yeah I I believe I agree with you yeah no it’s great to be back obviously it’s um yeah brings back a lot of memories and uh looking forward to week I don’t know if we can make 20 under again uh that back nine yesterday was pretty brutal when we played it they made a few changes made a longer uh win was straight into and uh yeah 20 under felt pretty distant at that point how you enjoying the golf course it’s it’s yeah obviously you love the place I mean it’s but it’s quite fire even with a bit of moisture in air yeah but it’s great it’s in great condition I think the rough might be a little bit thicker in some area so we want to again avoid that and stay stay on the fairways but it’s uh it’s in great shape and it’s a it’s a great golf course so uh everyone should enjoy themselves what’s it like to be an open Champion like like what’s it like do you think about it every day no not every day no you don’t no only when I see you then I feel like yeah I got oh you feel like an open Champion so you can rub it in this is going south quickly Now isn’t it no it’s it’s all good and how’s life with you Life’s good uh it’s been a busy summer um trying to uh keep some energy for the for the tournament days uh so go easy on me in the open Zone later I don’t care what anyone says about you I like you thank you likewise coming to the end of his 40s now just two years shy of tling 50 not had the best amount of form of late for Henry but I’m sure being back here he’ll be inspired with the great memories that he has of uh what certainly will go down in history as one of the best jewels in Open championship history yeah it was magic wasn’t it it was um in in in sort of my living memory which is s a lot of open championships now apart from the the jewel in the Sun at turnbury Tom Watson and Jack Nicholas I think that was the the second best coming down the stretch and uh yes it’ll never be forgotten a bit more concerned about whether they’ve just changed the the angle of that alignment stick there as you’ve got the longer shaft of the driver there that would change a little bit the way you came into it but he managed to keep it inside that line he wants not a lot to do to worry about your golf swing at this particular stage of the week just got to keep everything just in check I got to remind your yourself of about all the things you’re very good at yeah I mean there’s not not a not a time right now is it for any particular swing changes or thoughts that you might change anything it’s got to be pretty much there now we’re almost ready to get going yeah two wins in 23 [Music] you know multiple winner a couple of years ago Houston and over in Mexico six wins in all he has had started off pretty good and and and then he had had a baron spell for for many years but has become you know one of the most prolific winners in recent times four wins in all in the last couple of years looking very relaxed chat in away with a cad they might make subtle changes today to the setup in the bag we were interested in George’s ters earli out there with tiger Tiger’s gone with a with a three-wood and a fivewood and a driving three iron would you have changed any any bits of equipment do you know it’s strange Andy I was never really changing anything ever I was not big on fiddling and messing around my equipment what I tended to turn up with I I used really I mean maybe every now and then with a with a I might make a change with the wedges maybe slightly well F I was going to ask that what with changing the bounce on your wedges yeah I mean if you I I used to have such little bounce on my wedges anyway little bit like Jordan spe Jordan spe only has four degrees bounce on his wedges Shane Larry has seven some players have a little bit more than that and then they will bring extra wedges for very firm ground and they’ll go down slightly in the bounce a little bit and they’ll experiment with that when they get to Links conditions depending on the firmness of the ground yeah because from as that ground is you’ve got to be careful that bounce doesn’t work against you some players give you an idea how different different that is with spe I mean four degrees of bound I mean some players during a normal season regular conditions might have about 12 degrees of bounds on some of those Sands [Music] so looking at Tony Foo be from Utah lives now in the Scotsdale area now an awful lot warmer and drier than it is in these here parts coming to these mid-30s it’s looking busy down in the range so let’s catch up with d and David once more thanks very much Andrew yeah David and I have been walking up and down just just getting the steps in actually aren’t we 10,000 a day they say yeah I’m going to go for 20,000 and behind us if we come around this way set set yes the Austrian who had a he had a good result didn’t he in the Open Championship last year when Brian Harman won second place yeah tied second with a couple of others but yeah great performance in in the open there in that horrible weather I do remember that final day especially on that driving range when we were there for hours but just what the players had to had to coope with and how well Brian played but SE yeah really really decent performance for him um he’s just here behind us what what’s he got in his hand David what a golf club Y and he’s going to hit thatall yeah it looks like a medium iron doesn’t it yeah nice lovely Rhythm should we have work with him let’s find out find out what he’s doing SE could we um grab a grab a quick word with you great stuff if you come and come over here hi good to see you Hi how are you we were just talking about your second place finish TI second the Open Championship last year good to be back yeah yeah definitely always uh always fun coming here um hadn’t had too much Lynx experience until last few years and uh yeah I’ve really grown to kind of love love playing over here yeah gra so how are you feeling about your game as a as a whole at the moment and how how’s your season gone for for everyone at home uh yeah season’s gone pretty well um haven’t had any uh any wins but uh BR pretty consistent over the last 3 or four months and uh yeah game feels game feels like it’s in pretty decent shape so uh hopefully he can have a good week here some some top 10 for this gentleman this season he’s a he’s a pretty decent player isn’t he uh well I just want to know the journey home from Marco Simone on the bus were you on the left side of the bus or you on the right side of the bus uh I don’t remember to be honest with you I think I was on the left side it was a little hazy by the time we got out of there just that whole experience what a week it was it was incredible it was absolutely incredible um experience of a lifetime uh to do it in Rome was uh really special and uh yeah something I’ll never forget for sure that that first te I mean it was so Buzzy the the ampi theater what was it like to walk out there uh nerve-wracking it was incredible it was awesome but uh but yeah very uh shaky hands uh shaky legs and um yeah it was uh it was incredible I mean they prepared us for as good as they could for for that first tea and uh yeah it was it was exceeded expectations by mile well this gentleman played in rder CS 55 years ago andk and was very very good I remember the cake I remember all of it David record victories die record so many records do that yeah come on are you are your thoughts on Beth Page now you know in in the back of your mind see Luke Donald he’s been walking up and down the range yeah uh definitely in the back of your mind you know uh doing it once uh kind of makes you want to do it even more the next time around I didn’t realize how much uh I wanted to be on that team and uh yeah now knowing that definitely going to put put a little more pressure on myself but uh but yeah all you can do is just try to play well and work your way onto that team Beth pagee is going to be incredible uh to win an a away Rider cup would be absolutely amazing so uh I think we’ve got the the young talent that that’s capable of doing that yeah so much tal is yeah have you played today uh not yet going out at 12:50 on the back nine okay going to be a different win tomorrow I hear there’s that uh are you factoring that in have you have you got the same weather forecast as me yeah I think the weather forecast every time I look at it changes by by the day so uh fortunately right now it’s looking pretty good uh looking like a little more wind but uh no rain so uh yeah you got to factor that in during your your practice rounds that you might not end up where you’re hitting it uh in the practice rounds and tea time tomorrow and with whom what we looking at I got 104 I think with Cam Smith or no sorry not cam Smith uh Jordan Smith and uh brenon so yeah it’ll be be a good 104 yeah so it’s not too much waiting right we’re saying you know if you’re out late late bringing the bins in it’s it’s really tough isn’t it yeah I was looking at some of those numbers uh 4 427 I think is the last I can’t I don’t even know what you’d do for that long so uh yeah that I’m pretty fortunate with that one do me a favor would you could you play Jordan for 20 quid tomorrow because he took 20 P off me a couple of weeks ago at my golf club so I could do with getting that back can we can we work that tomorrow just for you he will I don’t know I think he’s playing some pretty good golf I know I don’t know if I want to do that L you you from Vienna Austria born there you speak German I do yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah I lived there until I was 14 yeah yeah great so I lived in Vienna for a year I was a assistant in a school kcot V how are you that’s about it I forget it you know languages to keep up with languages it’s super impressive lovely to chat to you and we wish you the best of luck this you speak any languages David uh absolutely left-handed something in the evening but no no not really English yeah SE yeah good luck and enjoy this whole experience of being it’s it’s just magical isn’t it it is yeah it’s always a special week and uh yeah I’ve grown to grown to really love this week and it’s definitely my probably second favorite of the year yeah one what’s it 10 tomorrow what time4 104 yeah 104 look out for him SE ster great stuff good luck thanks so much good to see you good to see you thanks SE cheers okay let’s get back to comms yeah it’s interesting you know the the the inclement weather conditions that you can have out there in the golf course the CES are going to have to are going to have to put plenty of stuff in the golf bags not really know what you’re going to get and speaking of what you’re going to get let’s find out what George has got cuz he’s been out there on the hunt following the tiger match let’s see from him we’ve made it to the 18th and it looks as though Tiger Woods Tom Kim and M MC mey are all done and dusted for the practice rounds what a great morning it has been to bring you all the insights to follow the man himself Tiger Woods and there he is meeting friends and family of Maverick we love it here’s the man of the moment good luck tomorrow mate enjoy it how do we get to the pting green well let me show you mate follow your way around there you go so tomorrow 237 he tees off and he is playing with Patrick Klay and Xander shl and All American lineup has he got the flexibility oh yeah he’s looking good good he’s fighting foot there he goes couple of extra putts how’s the authenticism oh brilliant Tom km how are you mate how’s your day good enjoy that round yeah always pleasure always a pleasure yeah B it is there he is how cool is that getting to play nine holes with your absolute Idol bet nevera stop straight onto the pting green and straight to his one-handed putting drill which he has done for so many years an old favorite of tigers with that Scotty Cameron putter which almost has a hole in the middle of the club face now he’ll do a little Gateway set up as two T’s either side of the putter here we go mark it out find a fled enough PT here we go job done we’ve seen this before we’ll see it again put the pressure on that club face coming through Straight things we love to see royal trun has looked an absolute picture this morning not a lot of Breeze calm conditions hopefully not giving these guys too much of a false hope for the week to come seems like set today is going to be the day to duct for cover but there we have it 237 Tiger Woods will tea off this afternoon and by this afternoon I mean tomorrow afternoon it’s been an absolute pleasure following him so we can’t wait practice is done it is now game day tomorrow we’re going to pop back out on course we might try and find some Rory maoy action for you but not a bad way to start your Wednesday Tiger Woods over and out yeah he’s in George’s favorite colors Alex noren he’s sort of my outside bet for the week this week a lot of good form still yet to win in America 2016 on the DP World Tour still his best year won four times in a short period of time Kraken player tremendous short game skills I just about the say Andy before you said that that’s the thing again when you look at norin that that really spins the ball amazingly well I don’t think there’s many players in the game of golf to spin the ball more than he does so he can control the flight spin of these little shots around the greens and that has been a trademark of his career that wonderful touch and feel finished 10th last week in the Genesis as well and very consistently only missed his first cut of the Year all the way back in Canada a lot of tremendous go JT poson in there quite an underrated player good player in the PJ to having a good season there is Bon wonderful putter got a split– handed putting grip little Loop further down the offl bag of Alexander Bor down there spent a little bit of time over on the pgj tour one of the duel cards that he got last year but I find it a little tricky to climatize it’s not easy for everybody yeah that’s that’s more the issue isn’t it I mean a wonderfully consistent play on the DP World Tour and uh it’s not so much you can’t find that consistency necessarily on the PGA tour it’s just very different isn’t it’s a change of Lifestyle it’s a change of you know the friends you hang around with the the cameraderie the Ambiance when you’re not on the golf course it’s so hugely important to how you feel on the golf course when you get to the golf course to play and and the fun you have on and around a tournament even you know once you’re on the golf course of course it’s serious but on the Range and afterwards and in the players lounges you know I think the the DP will tour is is is undoubtedly the friendliest tour in the world so many different nationalities and that’s what they miss when they go to America and that’s the the biggest adaptation for me for all of those guys that get one of these 10 cards that we now have onto the PGA Tour and it’s that that lifestyle change isn’t it yeah massive I think uh you know we’ve seen it historically in the past it’s it’s not about the game it’s just just about being able to fit in some players can do it some players find it a lot more challenging see the very bright color golf bags on the Range the manufacturers produce their own bags for the major championship so they’re one-offs each player that qualifies for the m just comes along and gets himself a new golf bag I’m taking 195 events before he claimed his first and to the today actually big not two wins cuz he won this year in sudal W his first event way back in 2021 the Kazo open so Heath theala one of the exciting talents on the PJ T now a winner a great moment last week waited behind to watch Robert McIntyre finish on the 18th green when McIntyre’s putts putt went in the hole to claim the title The gala’s Arms went up in the air it was tremendous yeah I did say that he was up on the balcony wasn’t he and uh yeah but a gol fans a golf fan isn’t he and uh you know he’s a player that’s really rapidly rising up the rankings is the gala and again know one of the best short games you will ever see sah theala so that is a good asset to have around Royal trun and there is the big man DJ always looks the consumer athlete doesn’t he that’s been a trademark of him throughout his career is training specifically for golf always fit strong and hasn’t played that great in all honesty as of late obviously the world ranking is a little bit a skew we know why that is but hasn’t had his best form no he hasn’t he won in Vegas way back at the beginning of the year but that’s about 12 events ago um doing what he always does here Mark just just sending a bunch of wedges down the range first of all he spends about 40 minutes on his wedges each day well that was what changed in all honesty the the path of his career was working with Butch Haron and kind of riging in the power with a short game I mean know obviously it’s a wonderful asset he’s a fabulous driver of the golf ball but what Butch did was he softened out the pitching and taught him to control with a a slightly softer shape and control the pitch shots control the distance more from if you’re hitting the ball that far Andrew you know most golf course us you’re getting within 120 130 140 150 which for these guys is a three4 to wedge nowadays and when you can soften out you can distance control it’s a little bit like Richard Bland as well in the work he did with with Tim barter over the years and that’s why Richard Bland has gone into his 50s and he’s winning senior major championships is because he’s a wonderful pitcher of the golf ball distance control Andrew that’s the key yeah it’s it’s magic I think that’s absolutely tremendous uh those distance controls with his wedges he can basically call it out to the yard when the ball is already in its here you saw the little graphic coming up with the three Majors so far this year two Mis cuts and a 43d at the PGA Championship not what he was hoping for when he was playing them but 14 times he’s played five top 10 in a top 10 we’re back in 2016 runner up 2011 of course he is a double major Champion the 2016 US Open and 2020 Mar’s champion see I I love it he’s in he’s in there dialing in his wedges and something that is immediate feedback and a lot of the other players are working a little bit on their golf swing trying little technical changes he’s not he’s just dialing in the numbers great feedback you know and that the you know we talk about the the the the work that Blandy and uh and barter did on the on the pitching with trackman and the games that you can play with them Andrew where you can set a a specific 20 ball distance control exercise and and those things really are absolutely brilliant the machine gives you a number you try to hit the number that’s a wonderful way to practice it so specific and it gives you instant feedback and um and that that occasion there virtually no curve we saw just a few minutes ago the curve on it was uh was 6t as I said yesterday maybe a bit of crosswind some of these pitches were were actually moving between 10 and 17t well this is this is remarkable what they can do over there in the top TR are what they they can superimpose these wedges onto the postage stamp that’s terrific such a tiny little green one of the world’s great path 3es the postage stab and I tell you what you take four balls on that green uh and and not play the whole four balls and and two part play it in 12 Happy Days absolutely what a setting you do not go for the pin up the back if you do you take your life in your hands the coffin bunker just behind where that flag is you put it in there you’d be very lucky if you can hold the green with your next shot and if you put it in the bunker on the other side you’re staring six in the face just well 112 yards sometimes you play about 100 yards just the most idilic but treacherous par three in the world yeah what we say so often don’t we the the the the truly great PA 3es in the world of golf are not 245 yards long or more they’re just wedges and they’re tricky in different ways and this is well I mean this this eth all poy stamp is simply one of the most famous par 3es in the game so of course Dustin’s just over the dialing in his yardage he’s not playing a yardage of 111 he’s just heading his ones which are up there about 120 I think they are something a little deeper into the B back of the green there but that that’s where that would be but you won’t see too many players trying to knock it up there when uh when the tournament starts on Thursday here you go that’s a little bit of wedge work done and they’ll move on through the bag that’s normally what the players do they start just with some three4 swings half swings three quarter swings just get the body loose Thum get it moving I mean most of these players will have actually done some exercises before they come to the range the work out with a personal trainers in the mornings just to get everything activated I just think how the game has changed over the years is quite amazing but it has become a more athletic game and that’s a good thing okay Justus just take a little bit of time out before he maybe steps up through the clubs you get an opportunity to catch up with Wayne radar Ry once more 1998 you exploded onto the scene I was watching it cuz I’m misqu ifying that year did you yeah I did yeah and and you’re chipping on the last and now this year you had to qualify which I couldn’t believe I thought they might give you a special exemption but we haven’t got round to that yet but some people need uh a special exemption sometimes they are warranted but uh Jesus has been the last ride hasn’t it it has May yeah no um listen time slips on by doesn’t it and uh you know these these little signs that the game isn’t getting any easier are sort of starting to approach but it doesn’t mean that I feel less confident or uh less motivated these days I’m still enjoying it and um yeah listen it’s uh probably a little bit more gratitude to be in the field because obviously you know you have 20e spell where you’re in the open you kind of beginning of the year you go that’s my schedule bang bang bang bang bang but these aren’t the given you know what I mean you do have to earn your way into them and uh that’s obviously still part of my goals going forward the golf of course yeah Rosie I mean you you look at I mean look we’re not you’ve had the practice rounds I know as a player myself you come out here and you have practice rounds and there’s no wind it’s beautiful weather yeah it’s not going to happen isn’t it how do you batten down the hatchers ready for what will come which will be in Clement weather yeah what is the deal what is the forecast radar I don’t know I I think it’s going to get up to 20 pretty solid souly a little bit of yeah yeah so yeah we obviously we’re looking at every hole we we had a long discussion on what to hit off this can you cover the right bunker do you hit three with short left LA but then all that’s a bit null and void tomorrow cuz it’s in off the right so you’re going to be forced into a different Club different shot making so yeah although we’re playing it today and trying to get some type of feel you’re sort of preempting what tomorrow might look like the English Rose good day mate love your work cheers right [Music] now there’s no way I should be here I should be dead or in prison I mean how else would you gauge this a guy comes off of a cotton form you know to become one of go great are you kidding me he hit the flag and the crowd he just stormed onto the scene he put it in he’s a magician I never had any dreams about going on tour I didn’t know anything about it his story’s amazing his journey is amazing what a great shot we were poor we needed money to buy foodo a 28-year-old broken didn’t belong I knew I didn’t belong he was unbelievable and he put up with a lot that past is so painful to him I would like to forget it to tell you the truth our culture has a short memory I think it’s time for us to be reintroduced to Theo I’m playing for my life out here you know it is the American dream he hustled the world where do you see yourself in 10 years in years I see myself making partner at this thumb has been sold what to who some multinational out in Dubai where at 7 a.m. at the temperature is a very warm welcome Viv this is Ben anything you need to know he’s your lawfully wetted husband in Good Times end in total chaos what time are we expecting twins life is rarely a straight line wherever it takes you HSBC can help [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] we are jumping around different players here at live at the range Jordan Smith is on your screen right now with his coach I’m here with David how and David you know Jordan you’ve known him for many years now this is his fourth Open Championship he’s got an alignment stick under his right arm what is he doing here I hope he’s placed that there and just has placed that there I’ve got no idea but his coaches Simon Shanks is with us and Jordan I know what he’s doing it’s pretty complicated doesn’t it but whatever it is it works cuz this boy is an absolute flusher flusher Jordan can have a word can we have a chat Jordan what What’s um he has no idea what you’re doing do you have any clue don’t have a clue no no no no clue um so obviously we went out and played um the bat n yesterday so we had a strong into left to right wind um and I found myself just getting a bit on top of it trying to start the ball left and it was just going on the Wind too much so um this is just put it under my armpit and basically keep my arms stuck to it so my body turns and the uh the arms stay behind me rather than throwing them out in front love it that’s another another swing thought I can try brilliant going to tell me about that in a minute when once we’re done with this you can talk me through it awesome um and hitting it well I’m sure cuz you always do yeah yeah yeah unfortunately we didn’t have the week that we wanted last week but that moment we could get a day early and get out on the course and really go to town on the course and uh figure out how we’re going to attack it um so yeah it’s been it’s been a good good week so far well you had a great week the week before in Germany came close to another Victory second place just foul short once again but some great golf in there no doubt about that so you must be really feeling pretty good about things yeah yeah there was there was a lot of good stuff um just to final round yubo just didn’t really make any mistakes so I was got got to the last few holes and I was always chasing and uh took on the the the famous 16th there and went for it and unfortunately it landed in the water but I mean I had to take it on to try and win so um yeah no it was a really really good week yeah fabulous experience David was there for two days thank you yeah he did he did say that as we were coming over he said yeah I just made a a short appearance in Germany but you’ve been there many times in the previous in fact you’ve been pretty successful there wow you know you know winner you know blind score all find occasionally yes but I have one that one great so really good second place finish there and coming here to the ob I know it didn’t go according to plan last week at the Scottish open but yeah still extra time to practice here Rory earlier on he said the practice really happens out in the course you know the bounces that you get sha and Crocker was saying the same thing you just don’t know what you’re going to get with Link Golf and that’s the beauty of it yeah 100% I mean we we’ve spent a lot of time out there around the greens um I mean we we’ve been using everything from a l wedge up to sort of 7969 um cuz there’s a lot of runoffs so um we’re finding that an A Time Around the green is a bit more predictable than say a lob wedge or a sand wedge so um yeah I think you’re going to see a wide variety of shots that’s for sure well and you’re playing with seep strier tomorrow and we just spoke to sep and I tried to go him into playing you for 20 tomorrow to get my 20 that you took off me a couple of weeks ago but In fairness he said no Jordan’s an absolute flusher he’s too good so he’s not going there so there we go I’m not going to get my money back he just wants his private he just wants his money yes his money back doesn’t he um I think that’s a really good tip for everybody watching home can you just show us again what exactly yeah so so uh go so literally I you don’t you don’t want it to touch the stick until about here and then for the remainder of the back swing through the uh the down swing and just before you come into impact you want to keep it on this on your left arm so you simply just put it under your armpit and it just falls into place there and just keep it touching touching your left arm for as long as you can which keeps your arms behind you rather than throwing out on top and getting two down and two left brilliant we love these nuggets it’s so useful for everyone at home H good luck tomorrow speak to you soon hopefully later in the week great yeah definitely thank you thanks Jordan take carek you okay back to back to comes yeah loving it that’s a new when David H’s nearly 50 years years old and uh and and he thinks there’s still a secret out there to be found yes yeah well I mean how many events has he played 729 or something I would imagine something like that more than anybody and he still doesn’t have the secret none of us ever have found the secret have we that is the the beauty of the game of golf that’s the Allure of this magical game that we love and play and this is the greatest championship in the world and it’s the one that if you had it on your schedule every year you would be over the moon and if you didn’t play an Open Championship it always felt like there was something missing from the season lucky enough I played in a dozen of them that was always the the Highlight for me that man right in the middle of your picture he just tght you 13th appearance came close in 2014 when Rory Mar believe it or not won his I still can’t believe his last major championship actually it wasn’t it was he start was his last last one was the PJ later on that year but Fowler finished runner up at H Lake hasn’t really sort of kicked on after he got back in the winner circle last year when he won the 2023 rocket mortgage it’s been a disappointing season for him he’s 100 in the FedEx he’s got to improve but he loves a bit of lyx golf yeah I mean I was like you I thought when he won that rocket morgage classic I thought Rick’s back and he would kick on from that and he hasn’t he just sort of stumbled and stalled and and hasn’t got things going the best result is Andy said tied second 2014 looks cool doesn’t he’s always looking sharp you get the feeling it’d be good company go out for dinner with Ricky I think you’d have a bit of a laugh I think he’d be it’d be a good time with Ricky FY get that impression from him he’s a cool dude yeah he certainly has one of the most likable players on two he still he still takes a crowd around the golf course with them and just to emphasize last year’s performances 24 out of 26 Cuts he made little bit of curve on that last was it weed short between seven and 13 ft of curve once again even though they’re only hitting these are just 3/4 101 yard just 3/4 full sandwich and not even that 3/4 sand wages nowadays some of the numbers that Simon hes was quoting the other day some of the stock yardage just for Bryon D Shambo when he was out in the range were just were mindboggling to me I think we got one point to the eight ir and he was up to me hitting a four IR the same distance as his eight iron yeah well that would be up there what 190 something like that yeah it was 18 189 spot on very good yeah incredible well we saw an awful lot of youngsters at the Genesis Scottish open last week it’s great to see the enthusiasm up here in Scotland of course not all these kids will be Scottish someone will have made the travel north of the Border or across the sea but it’s great to see all the kids there trying to catch an autograph off to one of their Heroes out there it’s future golf isn’t it I mean oh I remember going to turnbury for the jewel in the sun Watson and Nicholas with my father was 13 years of age and watched every shot I ran around the golf club and watched every shot and it just for me it just instilled in me that was what I wanted to do in my life there was when I left turnbury as a 13-year-old I was convinced there was nothing else I wanted to do but be a [Music] golfer welcome back live at the ring 152nd open at Royal trun as well on the Aire Coast beautiful stretch of golfing terrain beautiful count County actually with a considerable amount of golfing history wealth of venues we’re looking at Ricky F he’s in the middle of your picture there 35 years old now Ricky got the six wins on the PJ tour does have two wins on the DP World Tour on the 2015 Scottish open on the east coast of Scotland over there at the wonderful gullen golf course and of course a 2016 HSBC Abu Dhabi championship I think some of the best work he did on his golf game with his golf swing was with Butch Harmon missim but this week it’s strange to be at a major championship and not see buty hopefully he’s listening we send our love to him absolutely yeah Messi but up you well also just hting away a few wedges there and it’s remarkable if you get the opportunity to see the changes you know that the back swing was very flat Club almost sort of as it was parallel at the top of his back swing so halfway down his back he’s he’s lifted that an awful lot higher in the back swing very very likable sh a terrific 62 last year in the US Open La Country Club eventually that was matched by sander schaule only four players of shot 62 in major championship history [Music] quite interesting there as he was just hitting that sort of three quarter swing there he looked like he was hovering the iron as well I mean most players do hover the driver don’t see too many players hovering the the wedges or shorter irons what a little bit of white tape on his hand therefore put in his right hand I’m still looking to see if I can spot at you like got eagle eyes Andrew oh you’ll see it don’t worry I would suggest it’s nothing more than just oh yeah I see it now yeah yeah it might be just a little reminder for the grip it might just be you know part of the grip where there’s a little more pressure in he interesting I feel like I should run down to the range right now and go and find out for Andrew as soon as you you’ve asked the question yeah yeah I do say that actually no I’m trying to think who else it was that I saw that had two or three of those on the right hand tiger used to have them um blisters sometimes little blister little bits of protection from the hand if you’ve been working hard sometimes the grips are rip the skin off your fingers yeah could all be incredible record in those Majors three runner up Place finishes one third place finish there you go I mentioned the second place at Royal Liverpool top 10’s Port rush and georgees i f remember I was F him out on course when he was playing at Russ at georgees I think it was way back in 2011 I think that might have been his his first open and I was just so impressed it was a really tough day out there usual British summer kicking in tremendous wind rain squalls and I was watching a young American talent that could really control the ball flight keep it down play it High make the ball dance very impressive spotted there Gonzalo and castano were hiding under the Yellow Cap seven time DB World Tour winner one of the young Spanish prodiges there that he’s mentoring and I spoted tiger I think sneaking up on the the backside there behind them and I just remember once on the on the Range here here and uh it was actually at this championship and I was on the Range and Jack Nicholas came up behind me and put his ball practice balls down I didn’t realize he was there and as soon as I realized he was there I shanked the next three yes you could just sort of feel the presence oh was I honestly I was I was just happily hitting wedges and then all of a sudden I thought oh my goodness it’s Jack Nicholas he just put his balls down behind me shank shank shank holding Jack looks like somebody’s told Shane the weather was going to be good today he’s made a Stern stuff isn’t he 2019 Champion golfer of the year what a week that was it just made the ground tremble with h excitement and noise from the Irish fans over there at Port Rush when he was striding down the final few Halls un certainly the the Saturday evening and then of course he would follow it up marvelously the follow in dat isn’t that just the most wonderfully fluid golf swing one of the great wedge players in the game one of the great short game exponents bit long sa Michael Roy in the Zur classic in New Orleans of course they won that in a playoff died ninth in The Travelers and a good performance also in the PGA Championship alv Hal actually had a chance to shoot 60 one missed a 10t PO in the last but one of those four players that have a 62 you represent Ireland in the men’s Olympic team nice little no Steins you have very very smooth gol swing just great balance hasn’t he you know when you get stand along the side he was a lot bigger than you think he is he’s a big tall strong chap Shane laran but everything the key is balance and all the technology in the world and all the gadgets and all the gimmicks but eventually it will be a game of balance well of course he’s got that name on The Magnificent trophy I mentioned it was way back in 2019 let’s have a little reminder of how successfully was then some people say the greatest championship in the world I think when you get your hands in the trophy and you actually start reading the names and how far it goes back and who’s won it and it’s literally all the [Applause] great and it was getting to a stage where I just wanted the whole puts because the roar was just kind of it was it was almost entertaining for me you know to hear the Roar and then when you see the tion I show after holding that put that was it like that was the tournament over at that [Applause] stage I think it’s because of where I’m from that’s how we celebrate things to be able to bring joy to so many people the history of the trophy what an incredible Trophy and for me to have that on my mantle piece in the house I walk in some mornings and it’s hard to believe you know an incredible six 3 on the Saturday to take a four shot lead into the final round I cannot imagine how difficult that must have been to sleep that night yeah it’s um well it it’s a different different feeling isn’t it and everybody copes with the emotions of that differently it doesn’t seem five minutes ago to me when I see him as a a young amateur at the Irish open with the policeman coming on to keep everybody from from him as he hold that winning put to win the Irish is an am which was just an amazing achievement what a career and you know you never know where you’re going to go in the game of golf but you’d say that he has really gone to he scaled the Heights and uh I love watching him play golf because I love the creativity of his short game I mean that’s something that I obviously sort of specialize in and Love and Enjoy but um he’s a complete gol for but he’s a great attitude and uh he’s very much you know right okay one the up let’s go the p and uh and have a drink together you know and that’s a that’s a rare commodity really he doesn’t seem like he’s ever become anything other but the the shame that everybody will know and love at home you know swinging well actually I like the rhythm of that swing I like it it’s very smooth seen a lot of different sort of drills and all sorts of stuff going on with the alignment sticks a few that I wouldn’t want to try myself with my golf swing Andy otherwise I’d be an a& e you and I would end up in by swing at a golf club never mind any of these swinging needs or alignment sticks that are are down there but yeah loveely he sees always a guy in and around the greens a day money to go and watch uh again just has a lovely motion magician you know some people some people just have it’s an art form you know when you control flight and spin and you see things differently and uh you know once you once you got the full package and you’re technically not compromised then you can really start to let your mind run wild with visualization and how the different shots you can player now you can see them different to other players and if you are that good as he is then you actually want to go and show off and what a lovely thing that is to go and show off your [Music] skills on the tea she was staring this one down and for good reason look at this just a delightfully done she’s on top of the world going directly at the H what good oh get in there there’s something about the AIG Women’s Open oh my [Music] [Applause] goodness there’s no way I should be here I should be dead or in prison I mean how else would you gauge this the guy comes off of a cotton Farm you know to become one of golf greates are you kidding me he hit the flag the crow he just stormed onto the scene he put it in he’s a magician got I never had any dreams about going on tour I didn’t know anything about it his story’s amazing his journey is amazing what a great we were poor we needed money to buy foodo a 28-year-old didn’t belong I knew I didn’t belong he was unbelievable and he put up with a lot that past is so painful to him I would like to forget it to tell you the truth our culture has a short memory I think it’s time for us to be reintroduced to the gerino I’m playing for my life out here you know it is the American dream he Hustle the world [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] delighted to be joined on the Range by all in Tisha great to see you great to see you great to officially meet you awesome well now you played professionally from 2015 to 2018 professional golfer turned into an amazing brilliant influencer I mean you’ve got almost half a million followers on social media possibly more um but tell us a little bit about what you do so essentially just as you said when I was playing professionally I documented my journey on social media on all the different platforms from Instagram Tik Tok YouTube and more and from just documenting it it eventually transitioned into a full-time job and now I’ll host I’ll be a trainer I’ll be a trick shot artist you name it I’m there and we just bring the entertainment and the fun to every event that we do it’s brilliant because you’re a massive advocate of of women’s golf getting more women playing the game absolutely I think I think especially for myself and I’m sure you can speak to it as well you know growing up in the game there really wasn’t a lot of examples for me I was wearing boys clothes growing up you know I was competing in boys division because there wasn’t enough girls and so for me to be able to give back and to also show that there is a person out there that can that can do it I think just seeing that there is an an idol of some sort I think really changes the game especially for the younger community so for me promoting the game is everything I’m also great friends with a lot of the girls on tour and so that’s what I’m here for as well yeah it really is great I remember when I was growing up I had to find other girls to play with and you know to have that influence of wanting to go out and play with other girls we’re on the Range here we’ve got a few Americans behind us I know you know a lot of the guys because you you interview them we’ve got sort of Bryson Des Shambo behind us Dustin Johnson as well uh when you hang out with these guys how much do you as well you learn and everyone that watches you how much do they learn I mean well right behind us we have we have Bryon right now and and he’s someone that you’ll learn something new every single time I actually just bumped into him yesterday and congratulated him on on all the things his latest amazing win at the at the US Open I think that was phenomenal I was also with him during the the 2020 open when he won so it was so cool to be able to to witness one and then watch the other and congratulate him in person I think we also have Gary Woodland behind us and both of them I was actually on the Cobra Puma team for a while with them so I got to spend a lot of a lot of time a lot of shoots a lot of a lot of moments so so they are these these guys are great these are these Americans are great I’m definitely rooting for them this week yeah totally and and Bryson’s giving so much back to the game and you know doing interviews left right and Center which is pretty it’s all about it’s all about growing the game and getting as many people into it as possible you’re here for your Open championship in Scotland for the you’re in Scotland for the first time aren you SC for the first time I have been to the open once before it was during Royal Port rushing and and you know what when there’s no rain here I think I think it’s a beautiful day so right now we have the perfect weather we do we do we’re trying to yeah do our Sundance and keep the rain Away Great what’s your plan for the rest of the week so rest of the week so I’m here this week with the RNA and all things content all things social we’re going to be on the ground hanging with the fans and really learning and the culture and showing that especially a lot of my audience is in America and so I really want to show them what it’s like to be at the open especially because they can’t be here and so I’m going to show them basically the behind the scenes good stuff and that they possibly need more clothes if they come to Europe and come to this part of the world yes oh Tisha all in we can follow you on social media thanks for doing what you do and spreading the word great to chat to you yes so awesome meeting you thank you good stuff thanks thanks Tisha amazing to think how things have changed and and all that goes on in around an Open Championship now behind the scenes as well there’s the bag of the great man himself Tiger Woods amazing the appetite there the tiger to go out and and and keep working and keep grinding out and we saw him earlier with George on the course just hopping over the railing did a few putts and I must say he looked to still be moving a little gingerly he didn’t look like he was walking so comfortably and yet he’s still back out there on the Range working and uh well you can have a debate between yourselves as to who is the greatest of all time whether it is tiger or whether it is Jack Nicholas and there a sort of generation argument there probably as well for people that grow up with Jack and then the people that grw up with Tiger but they we certainly are looking at one of the two greatest golfers in the history of the game was three Open Championship wins 15 majors in all and the Man in the modern era the modern times our modern times absolutely revolutionized this game the interest a complete global Superstar but he changed the nature of the game in in in several ways but I think probably the the most important one was how he changed the physicality and the the athleticism of the sport he came along as a as a youngster smashing a million miles he took Austra part and they obviously made the changes to the course probably because of that the way he played that Masters but so many players have modeled themselves on on tiger and they’re spending so much more time in the gym they’re so much more physically stronger and it’s go specific to Andrew isn’t it it’s not just a matter of going in the gym and picking up the the the weights and doing some bicep curls it’s it’s amazing how the sport has evolved yeah than I’ll see you yeah you got to do speed drills you got to get a lot of strength in the lower half of your body as well interesting of course the accident that he endured is not allowed him to really sort of push off that right leg like he may have done in the past but still has good club head speed down there still gets it round 683 weeks at the top of the game as the world’s number number one it’s still an absolute joy to watch isn’t it it really is it’s such a beautifully connected motion synchronicity personified and in his mind in his heart tiger will never ever believe that he can’t win will he he’s he’s not he’s not here because there’s no ceremony in time you know as long as he can I mean look how straight that is that top Tracer line what have that’s been a great addition to the game of golf hasn’t it ground obviously relatively flat here at Royal TR right on the edge of the coast the thing that you’ll have to watch out for because that right ankle is kind of locked into position is is just the sort of humps and Hollows and the slopes that might put a little strain on the ankle I mean side Hill lies must be so difficult for him to hit from with that with those physical challenges much talked about Xander schaule 53 I think consecutive Cuts maybe 54 well that man there W 142 consecutive cuts from 1997 at the Canadian open he missed the cut he then went N9 years without missing another cut see the tiger logo now got his own clothing line 15 stripes for the 15 Majors only played four times so far this year his own tournament the Genesis Invitational over the Magnificent Riv Riviera golf course in Los Angeles did you just say I’ve just nine years without missing a cut is that what you just told me do you know what I have a similar startat in my career I once went nine days without missing a cut nine years without making one played obviously the majors that’s that’s what he’s targets now that’s what he can play he’s actually said he started to do a few more things in in the gym and on the golf course that he wasn’t able to do over the last year or so hopefully those aren’t just Hollow WS Charlie hind just in front of him Linda bigy swed playing in his first Open Championship what a moment for him I don’t know whether he sort of realizes but it’ be a great picture if somebody could take a snap of that now he’s one he’s one of those we go he’s behind you and then all of a sudden the hands start shaking well like like we talked about you feel the presence and then you listen to the strike and you go that that’s a different noise than than when when my golf ball comes off my clubs give uper the bodywise look how fit and strong he still looks tiger amazing athlete amazing mental strength one of the great golfing mindes remember playing against him in that rer cup in 1999 and I hadn’t played and he obviously knew I hadn’t played and now Dr with in the singles and he comes up to me when the first teases I Andre you doing he says this holds the dog leg right to left Par Four thanks very much tiger play well I think he’d have been nervous Andy to be honest with you I had him right where I wanted oh I can imagine at least you were there yeah true uh incredible experience interesting of course he’s decided he he doesn’t have the time to to Captain the next R of cupside that’s gone to Keegan Bradley up there Beth Page black maybe an indication that tiger look to Captain the side when we head back to the island of Ireland in that great adir Manor Golf Club over there what a special place that is yeah I think that’s a a pretty decent shout there and uh he’s quite involved with the PGA Tour on the politics of the game as well which takes up a lot of time and energy and uh just the timing wasn’t quite right for him well he has a tremendous Legacy that he he quite rightly wants to wants to protect I I think you know all the young kids over the last 30 years just want to you know aspire to to achieve anything that that man has achieved so many records he has set well that golf swing is looking really smooth absolute joy to watch great to see him here take a huge Gallery wherever he walks great to see him back in Scotland supposed to be okay well as we draw draw to a close of this morning’s action here at Royal Tri we’ll head back down to die thank you very much Andrew thank you and I’m here on the range with tiger just behind as if Kevin our cameraman can see him he’s got him in Focus I’m sure everyone congregates around tiger when he’s on the Range the grandson is absolutely packed don’t forget that the the first shot of the Open Championship is not far away tomorrow morning bright and early in the tea times so throughout the day today speaking with David how if you get one of those late tea times it’s not going to be easy the weather is going to change somewhat the wind is going to be different tomorrow also awesome to catch up with Rory maoy this morning said the practice really just happen out on the course we’re going to be back in a couple of hours from all of us and from from Tiger Woods we will see you in two hours time from live at the range [Music] [Music]

  1. Is that the PF that’s had terrorized YouTube for so long? They must have fixed his face and voice.

  2. Tiger has absolutely no business here as a player. The fact that there is nobody close to him that can tell him not to be an ahole says it all. As soon as his dad passed, he showed the world what a complete tool he is.

  3. I love how Rory put the driver down once he beat Scottie Scheffler on the longest drive carry (trackman)😂😂😂He is a competitor💪💪💪

  4. Excited for this tournament! Some players I'll be rooting for: Sunglae Im, Bryson D, Jason Day, Adam Scott. And of course TIGER! Let's goooo!
