good evening and gets uh we’ll get right to it I’m Mike Fisher your trusty and Trust reporter this is the Fishbowl that St Dak Prescott meeting with the media today at his Youth Camp and for Dallas Cowboys top 10 you’ve come to the right place the fish report let’s walk through it get in get on be good bring something of intellect to the table as you 71,000 fish heads in cowboy Nation always do top 10 takes from Frisco home of the Dallas Cowboys these are not hot takes these are fact based opinions ready go item one Dak says I’m sorry he’s being a little sarcastic but he did say I’m sorry that I stirred up such a whirlwind with my boot which he did and as we have said here the Cowboys I don’t know I don’t know dak’s on vacation he’s supposed to issue an announcement or something but the Cowboys could have handled this uh a little more smoothly by simply making some sort of they could have said on an email here’s what’s up uh instead um many of us were sent scrambling now Dak did say inaccurately uh that everybody was trying to make something out of nothing no not everybody if you recall our very first report on this came came from a source close to Dak Prescott from inside the Cowboys who said it’s nothing to worry about it’s no big deal fish don’t waste your time remember uh that didn’t end it um and the next day when there was another report saying it was something else I must I must say I had to go had to circle back say now what yeah we still now know and Dak gave as much clarity as I think we’re going to get on this thing now that there was soreness as a result of workouts so as a preventative measure against swelling maybe because he was getting ready to go on a boat trip and wanted to be super careful he wore the boot but then we saw I’m golf we saw him pushing the baby stroller uh we saw him walking around with bro and today he’s at the youth camp and he’s working out with the kids and there’s no boot and everything’s fine so everything’s fine uh he did say I’m getting a little older I did have the the nasty surgery the ankle blowout I I take very very great precautions to make sure that that thing is handled right and and that’s good enough for me uh fish for a minute there says Peter M some thought your credibility was in doubt but now I have even more respect for your words I you know what you’re not wrong uh certainly people on Twitter were saying I thought you said it was nothing and I I must have five or 10 times said Cowboys country.com standing by our story because we we we wouldn’t have written it if it wasn’t true and believe me um it’s kind of almost redundant to say impeccable Source because if the source isn’t impeccable you probably shouldn’t be using that person as a source but the source was impeccable fist the conversations are nothing new nothing more recent than the last time Dak and Jerry said there was conversations there are not there are not upgraded conversations there the talks have not Advanced let’s put it that way okay the talks have not Advanced it’s I think really smart and same thing we said about CD lamb this morning don’t don’t argue about your contract in the media right now that that that’s not the play right now there might be a time for it that’s not the play and Dak took the same approach just say the right things your agent no not Todd Francis kid Todd France let let your let your agent be the bad guy and you you just talk about football and and your boot and your baby that that’s the play that’s how you do it and and good for Dak for getting that um are things nasty behind the scenes not yet are they going to get nasty behind the scenes probably probably um we’re now down to it it’s under three weeks and deadlines Mr your back deadlines make deals what the Cowboys have said is their loose deadline on um CD lamb is the start a training camp their loose deadline on Deck is the start of the season that’s what they have intimated uh kid cowboy Todd France who a minute ago you called him Todd Francis but but still you want us to rely on your expertise Todd France players don’t play without an extension in the last year you’re you’re predicting that Jack Prescott won’t play this year you’re wrong you’re 100% wrong watch and see I’ll take that bet you think Dak Prescott’s going to sit out the season Dak Prescott won’t even sit out a day of training camp over this uh he will play he will play well and depending on just how well he plays he will kid cowboy you got to stop I I I’m only I I don’t mind if you troll but if you troll repetitively we subject I don’t have the percentages in front of me but but many teams are going we’re not given that fifth year look at Naji Harris Naj all Naji Harris does in Pittsburgh every year is R for a thousand yards they don’t give him the fifth year option why because that locks us into having to pay that running back too much money in the case obviously of a uh a star player at the right spot CD lamb got his fifth year option Michael Parsons fifth year option uh so first round picks that are Star Quality rightly get the fifth year option don’t know what we’re going to do with them after that necessarily uh as CD lamb presently of course scheduled to play on his 17.8 million fifth year option A a full 12 or 13 or whatever million what 15 million less than he’s probably seeking per year I’m going to I’m going to have I’m just going to make this conversational okay what’s going to happen to D is he going to get a contract or is he going to be here next year just conversational now this isn’t uh classroom this is barroom I’ve talked about the NFL draft for years and covered the NFL draft for years and had this conversation with Scouts and people who are in the room general managers coaches Scouts you’re on the clock for 15 minutes you’ve done 15 months your scouting department has done 15 months of research on this player Travis Frederick cidi lamb whoever it is they might not have done 15 months of research on on every single guy on the draft but you know sometimes it’s it’s a little bit of a grab bag and it’s certainly a d throw throughout it’s absolutely a dart throw when we get to the sixth round but those top guys you’ve known those top guys first round second round third round You’ you’ve done 15 months worth of research and then teams get into the draft room okay and The Scouting department is saying that’s the guy the board is saying look we got it right we we wanted this guy to be here at pick number 22 or pick number 58 or pick number 79 we wanted him to be here and there he is 15 months we’ve been planing this and then some Slappy in the room sometimes it’s an owner sometimes it’s a position coach starts pounding the table and saying no I like this other guy and they take 15 months of research and blow it in 15 minutes I’m going to use the same parallel on Dak Prescott here in my prediction the Cowboys will eventually sign him and that he will agree to be signed this year and they will avoid having Dak Prescott go to free agency next year argue about 50 versus 55 versus 60 argue about the playoff thing and the playoff thing is what changed everything I haven’t written that but I am I I will edch that in stone losing the Packers changed everything around here had they not lost to the Packers we would not be in this same the Cowboys would not be in this same blow it up remodel what are we going to do conundrum Strat fence had they just beaten the Packers which they didn’t even come close to doing March April May June or so February March April May or so the Cowboys spent four years constructing what they were going to do with Dak Prescott’s contract four years that that $60 million cap hit for 2024 that’s now down to 202 uh that’s now down to 55 million Somebody by the way should tell ESPN that was never planned to be in play it was it was never going to get to this everybody knew it Todd France knew they were never going to get to this we had a plan Jerry and Steven knew we were never going to get to this we had a plan Dak knew we had a plan and then they lost to Green Bay here’s why and a couple of you are saying you can’t sign Dak after the Green Bay game then why would you sign any other player who played in that game Dak did not play well who did who did if you’re going to base Dak Prescott’s contractual future on the Packers game then why wouldn’t you base CD Lamb’s contractual future on it Micah Parsons Zack Martins Tyler Smiths why aren’t they all under the same Spotlight they all got stomped by Green Bay every single one of them got stomped by Green Bay why would you sign any of them that one game caused probably Jerry but certainly the organization to go we sure and in wondering to the point where now they’re straddling the fence and not doing anything the Cowboys risk doing the same thing that bad teams do in the draft room they screw up 15 months of research in in 15 minutes now the Cowboys are considering screwing up four years of planning over four months of wondering and I believe that eventually they will get back to where they were and say and and and come to that conclusion we we thought we were right for four years we knew what we were doing for four years we had a plan for four years and we’re going to let one loss undo the whole thing I think I bet that they won’t I think I bet that they will say our four years idea was better than what happened to me what happened to them what happened to us over the course of those four quarters I think item five somebody did this on the five best Cowboys free agents of all time free agent signings of all time uh Enrique Cam Newton says he likes Dak over the other quarterbacks here’s what’s funny about Cam Newton and why you can’t listen to him that’s the exact opposite of what he said six months ago the exact opposite six months ago he said Dak Prescott wasn’t worth nothing and was a bus driver again with all due respect to Cam Newton everybody’s got a podcast everybody’s got a broadcast uh somebody some of these guys ought to write down their ideas in print so they can remember what it is what the hell their opinion was so tomorrow they can’t say the opposite you know the best thing with all due respect to Cam Newton again played in the NFL as an MVP played in the Super Bowl this is is incredible this is this is the veteran free agent signings and uh I think I think pro football somebody some somebody put this together this isn’t my list it’s theirs but it’s not bad guy number five Terell Owens is he only fifth because that’s pretty good he’s pretty he’s pretty good fifth Lori Glover good guy fourth good player third Nate Newton Nate Newton went from and he will tell you you talk about Rags to Riches he was nothing he got cut in Washington and thought his football life was over and he becomes a multiple Time pro bowler and an offensive line star number two Jay novich Plan B free agent still free agency um man as a pass catching tight end you got to Define it that way as a pass catching tight end and now of course Travis Kelce is kind of Rewritten it all but in that time and in that place uh ad Charles Haley was not a free agent in that time and in that place he he was a scrap Heap free agent Phoenix didn’t want him anymore Jay novich paycheck pretty good and number one it’s Dion it’s not even close and I don’t even know how many other free agent signings ever are in the same class with Dion Sanders so there’s 1 two 3 four five in the opinion of many Dion Jay Nate Glover to item six reminder on the Dak Prescott contract they both gotta want it we we are focusing on what the Cowboys want are doing aren’t doing how’ they screw up when they screw up it’s certainly fair to say that they haven’t been particularly proactive but it’s also fair to say either is Dak has Dak gone to the Cowboys and said I’ll uh I’ll sign for 50 I don’t think he has has he gone to the Cowboys and said I’ll sign for 55 I don’t think he has they both got a dance they both got a dance uh Shadow Wolf I was curious so I Googled top Dallas Cowboys YouTube channels and I don’t know I don’t know where I rank you tell me I don’t have any idea where I rank you tell me I know where I R I know where I rank me that’s all I really know item seven so there’s this thing called the white party and the guy that owns Fanatics um Michael something throws this white party and I don’t know it’s in the Hamptons or it’s and it’s you know it’s a Kim Kardashian there’s Kim Kardashian and there’s Tom Brady and there’s that there’s Jay-Z or whatever and and the Fellas went out on the beach and so it was Brady and Odell Beckham and Hamlin and Micah and they all had a big old time and Micah just put up a photo now of U one of the guys that he happened to hang out with and he hung out with Leonardo DiCaprio that’s a uh that’s high cotton Michael Parsons hanging out with Leonardo DiCaprio um here’s my bet and I don’t know very much all all we know about Leo is the movies and the ladies obviously this my question is for you Micah knows who Leonardo DiCaprio is does does Leonardo when when Micah said hey can we Leo can we take a picture after they got done taking the picture did Leonardo DiCaprio turn to his people and say who was that I say yes I say that leonado do anything like that this is item eight I would want to survey all of what’s out there leard forette he’s ready he wants to play for somebody Kareem hunt still out there uh dvin Cooks out there are they are they better I’m not sure and and uh ratio makes point I’m not sure they’re better than Royce Freeman so what’s going to happen here is uh Chris blow Jerry’s too old to blow it up you want a time once upon a time he was offensive player of the year he’s he’s 31 and I guess I think the same thing let’s let them see what they got but I do think this whereas I’m going to argue that if you line up doule versus um Leonard forette today if you line up Rico D versus dvin cook don’t think you’re going to go oh my gosh dvin Cook’s incredible and Rico’s just I don’t think that’s what you would see I wonder what you would see if you lined up Michael Thomas versus one of these kids I wonder if if Michael Thomas you know it’s that old thing about Romo that I used to talk about with Romo versus Dak had they let Romo try out to try to win his job back against Dak in 2016 Romo would have won his job back they didn’t want him to win the job back because they were riding this hot hand same thing here if you really let if you said who’s gonna go win us this game right now we got we gotta win we got one drive one game who do you want a wide receiver one of the jayen you want Jaylen Brooks or do you want Michael Thomas I’ll take a Michael Thomas can you stay healthy where’s his heads at all that stuff the Cowboys will take a look at what they have at wide receiver in Oxnard before they take another look at another guy and finally item 10 Dak Prescott has now said about lamb what the Cowboys said including the coaching staff said about him during um during voluntary when he wasn’t there for voluntary he’ll be fine not missing much we’ll we’ll get caught up guys if that’s true if you don’t really need to be it voluntary and we won’t miss anything and it’s not that big of a deal to be it mandatory ah you know dak’s going to work Dak works out with them on the side in the backyard they’ll go to Atlanta and now dak’s saying CD will be ready when it’s time I I I don’t understand I don’t understand how we keep and everybody it’s not just cowboys everybody in the NFL does this how how do we keep saying it’s important but it’s not important we’re having these practices you got to show up but if you don’t show up it doesn’t matter at some point will there not be a negative trickle down effect of CD lamb missing this missing this missing this missing this I
