Hour two of DJ & PK for July 5, 2024:
• What is Trending
• Pablo Mastroeni, Real Salt Lake
• Lauri Markkanen to Golden State?
it’s time to get your morning started with the news you need to know news update news update this is what’s trending with DJ and PK # NBA when Kay told me I was just able to listen you know and it wasn’t like a yo we could finish like this or like you should rethink this it was just like wow like all right like congrats bro like I’m happy for you that’s dope and like I didn’t even attempt to like want to talk him out of leaving or like yo you should stay because like all the reasons that you would say like and things that you could like yeah I could make words sound good but like those are known because to see him struggle the way he did last year I’d hope the care that you’d have for that person would go far beyond what you may feel is best for you or what you want to see that’s Draymond Green on Clay Thompson’s moved to Dallas couldn’t say anything the clay didn’t already know Clay’s gone the Warriors have added buddy heeld in a sign and trade with the Philadelphia 76ers 3 years $21 million for heeld Buddy heel and Steph Curry of the top two three-point shooters in the NBA over the past five years healed a career 40% three-point shooter so don’t know that they can recapture their Glory Days but maybe it’ll help make them decent PK keep them out of play can they get to the top six well I don’t think they’re done so it’s impossible to evaluate what they’ve got right now keep making moves Minnesota keeps making moves former Utah Jazz Swingman Joe Engles a one-year Deal 3 million bucks he’ll re reunite with former jazz teammates Rudy goar and Mike connley Minnesota Jazz it’s going to be a real thing PK yeah Joe’s going to get 11 years out of this that is just incredible starting at 27 we all know his story I thought he might have been done but he’s bounced around this will be his third team in three years and what difference does it make he from Australia so where does he care he gets an opportunity to get another payday and go with a good team you know he’s left when he left with the Jazz Milwaukee was a good team Orlando was a nice up and cominging team and now Minnesota’s a good team so that’s fun that’s the type of Veteran that they want I don’t know how much he’ll literally contribute but certainly he’ll have an opportunity to go out on his own term on own terms and that’s really cool stay out of the bottom of the league he’s done a good job of doing that yeah has yeah absolutely former Toronto Raptors player jont Porter will be charged with a federal felony connected to the sports betting Scandal that spurred the NBA to ban him pending charge is related to an existing prosecution of four men charged with scheming to cash in on tips from a player presumed to be Porter about his plans to exit two games early when the official charges will be filed still to be determined but we haven’t heard the last of that story Luca onuch yanis Santa TMO it’s Slovenia versus Greece tomorrow an Olympic qualifier it’s a semifinal one team will be eliminated one team will keep their hopes of getting to Paris alive in the final on Sunday yeah I’m going to go to that game I’m excited about it World traveler way to go cash in some frequent flyer miles no I’ll just pay Straight Cash homie had a kid Randy Moss playing DJ and PK # NFL your core guys that were going to play together played less than 60 snaps together we got Miami we got three practice squad guys playing for us like nobody like you could have Pat Mahomes and he can’t win behind that I’m not giving up on like he’s under contract for three more years just protecting oursel because best predictor of the future is the past that’s the New York Giants general manager Joe Shon who thinks the teams health issues on the offensive line or why the quarterback and the club struggled So Daniel Jones gets another shot and actually Pat Mahomes did have a lot of injuries to his offensive line in the Super Bowl they lost to Tampa Bay so there’s obviously some truth to that the question that lingers is yeah when the line’s healthy when the o line is healthy how good will that offense be oh it’ll be tremendous to be record setting yeah [Music] Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott recently photographed in Mexico wearing a walking boot spurring concerns about his health but there reports to say it was a mild foot Sprain and that he is already out of the boot early July he’s got a couple months to get healthy DJ PK # Major League Baseball weeks for the two two here it comes High Drive deep right field oh baby forget about this one it’s l second three-run home run of the afternoon for Ian half and it’s now 8-2 Cubs over the Phillies here in the fifth two two swinging this is hammered High out to the Gap and left center field sailing way back and gone home run Mitch Garver and it’s all happening now it’s a two run home run thck by Mitch Garver 1-1 High Drive left field Corner this one’s deep fair and gone speechless Walker another home run his 22nd of the Year 22nd is a nice total but it’s the Dodgers he uh really crushes he’s homeed in five straight games at Dodgers stadium and Dave Robert says he’s Babe Ruth against us your Diamondbacks beating your Dodgers nine to3 now I was watching those games both days uh and I saw all of those home runs at one point he had four home runs and six at bats and it’s just incredible man guys getting a hot streak the fourth one was way way in the back of the bullpen and you you’re familiar with Dodger Stadium if the guy threws a change up in his face and they flashed a LEL the manager of the uh Diamond bags and he’s just smiling and you can read his lips I don’t believe [Laughter] it it’s just just amazing I think he’s a free agent this year too so might be able to cash in good time to have the career year right he’s on the way you know they’ve got the the second half of the season to go but uh sure he’s on the way he’s having a nice season he’s not a big uh average guy but this year average is decent around 270 but the last two years he’s put up some nice power numbers and he’s an excellent go literal Gold Glove winning uh first baseman you also heard inap going deep twice Cubbies route the Phillies 10 to2 and of course the Phillies and the Dodgers with the two best records in the National League Reds they beat the Yankees 8 to4 and was that the worst error you’ve ever seen in a Major League baseball game game that was uh casual doesn’t exactly address Trent grisham’s approach to that single in center field and then when he finally got to the ball he fumbled and muffed it and waited for it to stop rolling before he picked it up got booed but no I think the Buckner thing in the playoffs was the worst one still the altimer in my world my life the Salt Lake Bees beat the Tacoma reers 10 to7 same two teams playing tonight 6:30 you can hear Tony Parks right here on the Zone DJ and PK # RSL Crooks in the middle of the park to Luna on the far side just outside the 18 around blessing his shot goal Diego Luna Diego Luna around blessing and fires a rocket inside the right post and it’s 2-1 RSL in the 42nd minute Chicho’s got space Chicho into the attacking third in the right Chanel down to Gomez Gomez back to Chicho he leaves it OHA oh he fakes left goes right and scores and OHA puts RSL back on top with a poised finish in the 67th minute 32 that was his first goal for RSL in his 56th game and RSL gave up an early goal then gave up a really ugly one at the start of the second half and yet still won 3 to2 they beat the Dynamo and they move back into second place in the western conference with that Victory there were chances PK so many chances could have been a fourth or fifth goal easily in that is Chicho Rango got stopped and Matt Crooks got stopped one1 and Chicho headed went off the ground and Over the Bar and hit the hit the crossbar another time plenty to yell and scream about and five goals in the end and RSL gets the win yeah who cares what could have been I’m more worried about what is I know you try to be objective but you’re a fan and fans were frustrated that it wasn’t four or five no they weren’t they they were Abol Delirious absolutely they were Delirious well they were Delirious after the third one no doubt about that you said That’s Sports that is true it is and there will be more Sports at America first field tomorrow night Atlanta United’s coming to town and they’ll be playing their third game in eight days and they basically played the same starters in the midweek game that they played last weekend so either they’re going to be putting a lot of backups out there or RSL needs to run those guys around at elevation they should be dog tired about 30 minutes in if they try to play all those starters for a third time in 8 Days kickoff at 7:30 coverage starts at 6:30 tomorrow night on The Zone we’ll talk with Pablo masteron about this coming up in our next segment at 7:30 DJ and PK hash golf a 59 Hayden Springer he was going low a lot of guys did go low I mean there were plenty of guys at 60 what I guess he’s got a two shot lead so you got somebody at 61 somebody at 62 and that was the neighborhood he was headed for until he HED out from 55 yards at 17 and then made his birdie at 18 and got his 59 we saw it last month we saw it this month it starting to become a little routine here PK so you worked last night huh I did I can always tell more details when I’m PID to get all the details only 13 guys overp par of the 156 man field I didn’t know that I saw speed though two under 90th Place those guys are just birdies everywhere on cut right now is minus three Patrick Fishburn Zack Blair in the field so we’ll see if the locals uh how they perform on the weekend two weeks now till the uh Open championship at Royal trun what is trending is brought to you by Shamrock Plumbing there’s no job too big or too small get the personal touch with Shamrock Plumbing all right Pablo Master joins us in about 15 minutes David lock radio voice of the Utah Jazz at 8:00 all the trade rumors speculation what does he think is realistic what is possible we talk with him coming up at the top of the 8:00 hour DJ and PK it’s 975 The Zone the question of the day is [Music] next accessing this is H sson and Scotty J Blake Anderson being relieved of his duties at Utah State as the men’s football head coach now you got to start to shake out what the prospects look like if I’m di SEO I’m sitting and listening to people that have been in this state that understand the recruiting they understand the environment they understand the religion they understand everything that happens in this state I actually think Jay Hill is the best option Jay Hill built Weber raised Weber ran it made it successful in every way shape and form J Hill is the perfect fit for Utah State and Logan Jay Hill is the man I wouldn’t look any further Scot weekdays from noon to 3 on 975 the KSL Sports Zone hot takes or toast is brought you by Sig fre and Jensen with 30 years of serving Utah question of the morning Joe Engles is going to play for Minnesota how do we not root for the Timberwolves now Melody this is great news I’m so happy for Joe Engles Minnesota’s a very fun team Mel’s all on board distracting herself from the Jazz rebuilding struggles by rooting for the former Jazzman in Minnesota why not Brett how you root against those guys yeah Brett I love jingles Ryan Joe is still one of my favorites I’m so happy for him yeah Joshua I’m all in on the Utah Timberwolves Donna nothing new here I’ve been rooting for him since they got Rudy obvious even more so now come on Vernon now they just need betray word and they are the stepchild t-wolf Jazz team I don’t know what’s going to happen to betray word all done or veteran minimum I like to think of in terms of money I call him slay word cuz he [Laughter] slayed the beautiful thing is you should have spent the Fourth of July holiday coming up with that and the odds are it occurred to you about uh well now about 7even seconds ago it did slay word then his band would be Slayer uh yeah I don’t know what his band would be uh but I know the tour bus would be uh highend now not everybody is on board with the Minnesota jazz or the Utah Timberwolves or the former jazz Trio Leroy they are welcome to go all the way to the finals but they are not allowed to win a title with our guys oh it just be little too painful if Minnesota was lifting the trophy it could have been us could have been our parade yeah it could have been but they chose not to obviously they broke it up uh but let’s not forget you know those players are good but Anthony Edwards is running that show they’re not the only guys on the roster yeah so uh you know they’d be a good team without Anthony Edwards would say like an average player at that position but with with him there a title tender for sure yeah no there’s no doubt about it because he’s the guy so they’ve got other guys around him but he’s the guy and the Jazz never did touch him he was a number one pick they’ve never had a number one pick as far as I know uh at least not in the 30 years that I’ve been here uh so you can see that the other guys are in know highend low end somewhere in between as far as a complimentary play player but for me this Falls right into my fandom because I’m far more about rooting for individuals than teams and you got these guys the they just they just work together I mean they’re they’re buddies and it’s good to see I I was with uh Les one time and Conley comes over it was an event and before the event I was uh talking with them off to the side talking with Joe and then connley comes up and and uh uh they started talking about I forget which one it was Joe was already off the Jazz but obviously he was still in town because he had blew it out his knee and I think it was Conley who said yeah thanks for getting my kids today and I’m standing right there and what had happened is the Jazz uh practice or film session whatever it was had gone a little long and so Mike was supposed to pick his kids up after school but he calls Joe and says Joe can you do this I’m running a lake and Joe yeah I got you and their kids went to the same school here in town and all that stuff so they’re really tight and and I think Joe was a on Rudy’s side not that he had to take sides but he certainly uh was someone that he en from what I believe Maybe I’m Wrong enjoyed being around so you have that opportunity and your team is developing here uh let them develop but over here you got three guys guys that could have this opportunity I think it’d be really cool if they could pull it off it would be cool if they can pull it off that would be uh I mean it’d be awesome for Minnesota I mean you can follow them right next to Denver Milwaukee and Toronto right cold weather places you never expect to get it done they’d won two playoff series all time before this year when they won two more so for them to pull it off would be a a huge accomplishment and go against all the history know we know of the Timberwolves but it’s like you say they got a guy he’s a number one pick he’s a Difference Maker he’s big time and now he’s got pla experience he didn’t have so yeah and they got Finch who’s not this big-time celebrity like some of these coaches kind of morph into these celebrity dudes and really get off on it I guess you could say this guy’s a basketball coach you know what I mean he’s not some big-time celebrity running around like that I bet and walk down the street in New York and really nobody with all those people say on a regular day all the people that are there nobody would no hardly anybody would know him I bet Michael now they need to get bogie and O’Neal to the Great Lakes keep rebuilding the roster more Jazz guys load him up O’Neil just resigned with Phoenix I think he set there which is super cool that a kid like him who had to go to Europe and now uh he’s going to make well over 100 million in his NBA career that that’s really incredible for have someone who start I think he started at the University of Denver and then transferred to Baylor and then had to go to Europe and then they brought him over here for the Jazz I’m not sure if it’s the Baylor connection with Lindsay or what it was but he made it and good for him man he’s just a junkyard dog I’ll do whatever you need me to do that’s really cool one of uh one of Dennis’s kids played against him and was recommending him and talking him up you got to look at him you got to look at him and they end up doing more than look at him would that be Jake I think so but I’m not positive that’s the only kid’s name I know of his uh we do have more people who are not in favor of Minnesota winning next year the question Joe Engles going to Minnesota how do we not root for the Timberwolves easy Carter says we control their draft picks they got a 2025 pick and 27 and 29 yeah but it’s just right now right but right now is 25 the thing is Joe Engles ain’t gonna make a lick of difference really when you when you think about it right but how do you not root for them that’s why but all it’s going to do is like I mean best case scenario is it going to be like pick 22 I mean how bad can the Wolves be now if they win it all it’s pick 30 and 22 is better than 30 but yeah but that’s just this year let him have it now and do it and that those picks down the road you have no idea well lots of people are worried about that you shouldn’t no not not today Mark we want Minnesota’s draft to to be as good as possible so they’ll be rooting against the wolves that seems like spending a lot of energy on something that a you have no control over and B probably even going to break your way anyway yeah but you got Danny Ray a he drafted Philip palowski in the second round and mark my words he G be a player Robert’s on board he’s written for Minnesota he says they’re the Jazz of the East well in the west but well they’re east of here they’re east of here I guess the Jazz of the Western Conference they is when uh when Vegas and Seattle get their expansion teams and it goes to 32 and somebody’s got to move from the west to east I assume Minnesota and Memphis and New Orleans all be fighting for that but that’ll happen a few years down the road now what difference does it make that’s irrelevant Teresa I’ve been a jazz fan for 45 years but for the past year I have been a Timberwolves fan Joe just solidifies my Minnesota fandom at least for the next few years for sure Joe hopes this for the next few years probably done I I’ll I’ll re up here I don’t need to bounce around I don’t need to be done if that’s the case it’d be awesome he’s a little more in uh one and done mode at this point in his career well not want it done but want to move on well whatever want done with that particular team I think is what you mean he can keep it going why not I hope we has a big season love the guy djpk it’s 975 The Zone it’s time to bring in Pablo Maston RSL head coach Pablo good morning good morning guys how we doing good how are you you’re over all the adrenaline rush of Wednesday on to the next one uh yeah I uh I had a filler between uh the game and and today it was a little route of golf with my brother who’s in town and his buddy who’s an Air Force pilot which is a crazy story as well um but we had a good time golfing a little bit yesterday so ready to go this morning well you had a thrilling Victory after uh one that you you didn’t score but I think in the game before the one that you lost I thought that listening to you you kind of just maybe attributed it to sports you know nobody wins all the time it’s just impossible it doesn’t matter what sport it is you’re going to have losses and you had that one but as I watch that game and arango goes out and then he comes back obviously uh as as a coach what can you do from the offensive perspective to make sure that the team is not just not solely dependent but maybe largely dependent on one guy because you never know when that guy might might go down yeah I think that’s a good point and I think you know the the game against La what we lack was real a desire to really want to score goals and that’s really a collective effort it’s it’s not it’s not so much on chich show and and and I thought I think we saw a big difference from that game to this game where um our our front for attacking players have to get in the box when the ball’s in white areas with you know um Alex who’s our wing back or you know Brody who’s coming up or who who you know or a pivots in the or a pivots in a good Crossing position in other words often times we have our attacking players that want to get on the ball so they drift towards the ball and away from goal and I felt like we did a really good job against um Houston getting our attackers inside the box and getting our pivots higher up so that they can actually score goals as well and so I think that’s the best way PK to to eliminate focusing on one guy is just you know is is that he’s only one in the box and that’s usually how it works out with guys that score goals is that they’re in good good areas but hopefully we’ve made a big step towards putting flooding the box with numbers that allows us to create more goal goal scoring opportunities and have different players scoring goals and I would think that the players really absorbed that message because not only did did they do that they got three goals so they they got a lot of reward there and they got goals from people in case OA who hadn’t scored for RSL in in two and a half seasons and I thought even more importantly there’s another half dozen clear-cut chances you know that filing could have would have should have but there’s also a counter to everything you do so when you push that what is it that you’re potentially giving up and what is it you have to tell the players about the Counterattack that can come obviously when you throw everybody forward yeah so again I think for me I think you rightly point out DJ you got to give something to get something and what you’re giving up when you’re putting so many numbers in the box is you’re giving up a lot of space behind your team and and sometimes you have your center backs you know 30 yards from your opponent’s goal which isn’t comfortable um and so our reactions when the ball turns over has to be great and it has to be great from the guys closest to goal because those are the guys that buy everyone else time to get back um but but I feel like you know I think I really like the game to be played at a really fast pace and and make it entertaining and and again if if it’s going to give you opportunities to score more goals then that’s something that you have to be willing to give up but the guys have been really good in the back and and we talk about rest defense or shape behind the ball which is essentially organizing the team for for a ball to come loose and for us to be exposed so putting players in positions to where you’re already anticipating the ball being lost so that you can win it or you can put out a fire kick it out of bounds and get your shape again so those are the uh ramifications of of of playing with so many numbers getting forward into the box way back when when the season was getting ready to start I was doing some reading uh just about the league and some I saw something on your team and Luna had uh listed some goals that he had and you know lead the league and scoring whatever it was I don’t remember but they were really high high level goals obviously and to me I’m wondering with a guy like Chicho coming in and being a breakout star for you how much better does he make the other guys in terms of well I got to up my game because this is what I want and this guy over here is turning into a BigTime star so if I want to get there I’ve got to get to his level I’m wondering how much does he raise the game of everybody else on your team yeah that’s a great Point p no I think G raises the bar for everyone um and and I think obviously probably more so with the guys that that want to be a goal scorer that want to be you know front and center who that want to be spoken about in the MVP race um and and I think again I think it’s no secret I think Chicho does have a talent and and it’s natural his ability to sniff balls out but he also works his tail off you know and and and and I think that’s what’s awesome for these guys to see is that he’s one of the artist workers on on the team Monday through Friday Friday you know doesn’t make excuses to not train he’s got his head wrapped with stitches um and still comes out every single day and actually heads the ball um so I think you know you learn a lot about what it takes to be a great Pro when you have great Pros on the team and that’s why for me a balance of experience with youth is is critical um because if not then we’re left as coaches trying to explain how to be a really good attacker but we don’t have you know the guy to that exemplifies that and so um he’s opened up opportunities for Diego Luna for Andreas um for Kookie um and has created some really good chances for himself as well so I think at the moment just as a collective attacking group we’ve we’re you know we’re we’re doing a really good job and we just got to keep uh you know pushing the bar it is so easy to watch the game and watch The Defenders defend and the attackers attack and judge them on what they do and you constantly point out you know the attackers have got to defend that’s where it starts and I think if you’re going to save 10 minutes of video to show guys two or three years from now when inevitably you know there changes the roster this is what it needs to look like would you show them the first 10 minutes of the Houston game because I thought the four guys up top we were actually counting it off there were two really bad giveaways by Houston the first three minutes there was a third one and a fourth minute and after that instead of losing the ball in inside their own 18 Yard Box they were trying to push passes 30 40 50 yards up field and midfielders were picking them off and in some cases even hadalo came forward and picked off a pass 45 40 yards from goal or whatever it’s like I know you can always look at it and say hey this detail we need to be better this we need to be better but man I don’t know you can be much better than those first 10 minutes no you’re spot on DJ uh you know one of the things that we talked about was how how good these guys are with the ball Houston and and the job that we need to do to to shut these guys down but uh one thing that you can look for in any game that will kind of guide you as to whether or not we’re dialed in up front from a defensive standpoint is the body shape and it was so awesome to see the guys crouched over as if you’re going to hunt right so defending is the hunting we’re hunting the ball so the same posture that you would use to creep around and Hunt uh in the wild ear is the same is the same type of body shape you need on the field and so when I looked out and I saw Chicho and Diego all you know ready to attack and and then they’re talking and they’re using nonverbals and verbal cues I mean that’s a level of Engagement I think that you need on both sides of the ball to be a to be a good team in this league um and to be consistent and the guys were awesome against Houston for sure listen to your talk after Houston you were talking a little strategy there and I’m not the best but I’m trying to learn here and I’m I’m wondering how much you felt that the stuff that you guys did in your training leaning up to the game was able to be implemented and that was making a significant difference that what you were working on you were able to execute in the game uhuh that’s great Point PK I think the the the topic we worked on the most during the week was really about two things one getting a lot of pressure on the ball higher up the field I think we did that and then the second one was getting numbers in the box and and we did that and so um and those are things that we’ve talked about in the past but really want to focus in on and areas that we feel we can improve to be a better team um and so and then it just goes to engagement and level of execution that that makes it that expresses that tactic and so again I think the guys were were really hungry after giving up you know a result at home a couple weeks ago and and so it all just kind of came together and now what’s wonderful about this game is now we can use that as a benchmark preparing for this game we have tomorrow um because it’s going to be a big game um and we need the same level of focus and execution that we had against Houston to have a good chance to win that one of the one of the Tactical things that I um like PK I’m trying to pick stuff up and one of the Tactical things you said is that the Andre Gomez goal while it was his work rate effort hustle I mean he was running and other guys were kind of jogging towards the ball and he got to it first he seemed to come from out of nowhere but you said you actually had him pinched in a little bit so at least his starting point was a little closer to that ball and if it’s not he probably doesn’t probably doesn’t get to it and score that first goal and change the momentum and the energy inside the plays and everything yeah so you know his starting POS again with a team like Houston um they wanted to play Central and they wanted to find Ur and Herrera they’re two midfielders and anytime those two get on the ball then they can they have access to the whole field so making sure that Luna and Andreas pinched in but again for as much as I want to make it about coaching and we want to make it about coaching um it’s really these guys know exactly at this point in the season what we’re trying to achieve um and so I attribute that play to Andre his ability to be dialed in and anticipate what might happen so often times when that ball goes back and and bod heads the ball hadalo heads the ball forward if if it’s not coming right to the forward he gives up on the play because he’s like oh I don’t got to have a good chance I mean for his ability to think that he had a chance that it had to go between a midfielder and two center backs and I can still Nick the ball before it gets to the goalkeeper I mean that is all on Dre’s starting position and his desire ired to want to make plays um defensively which is when you have your front four players wanting to make play defensively you’re going to be a good team and that’s all credit to Andreas it’s been my experience Pablo when I go out to play golf on July 4th you have a lot of dipwads who don’t belong out there and it ends up taking longer which drives you nuts did you find that to be true uh to be fair we uh we couldn’t get on anywhere but we got on a a Riverbend and uh it was the three of us and we uh partnered up with another guy that works at the course and had a it was 4 hours and 40 minutes so it wasn’t bad for a you know for a holiday we kind of zip right through and decent pace beautiful day it was it was nice did you play Yesterday P I did I I did many uh many miles from where you were I was in San Hollow down in St George and uh wow yeah yeah a little warm but you got out early in the morning the th the thing about the warmth in the St George area in the summer is at 8:00 in the morning it’ll only be 73 as opposed to uh living in the uh Valley of the surface of the Sun where at 8:00 in the morning it’s 97 so you have a little bit of a window there but you’ll you’ll love this my wife is she’s not she’s a player right coaches golf over there at corner camp Canyon and um so I I sniffed out at the driving range these four guys that just had no business being out there and sure enough we go up to the first te and they’re supposed to go off in front of us she goes right up to the starter there it’s just the two of us hey we only have two do you think it would be okay if we could go ahead of them and she looks at the guys and she says to them now you guys you’re you don’t have a problem with that the four players oh no go go and when we got done with nine I looked back two holes and we couldn’t even see those dudes so thankfully we didn’t get behind them that’s a happy forth absolutely yeah yeah Pablo when you’re playing out there do you ever just uh you know randomly check your phone just to see if it’s like 28 30 37 49 degrees cooler than it is in Phoenix cuz I’m looking at this it’s everyday is 15 the high is 115 or 116 until next Friday when it’s only gonna be 114 right no it’s so funny because now my brother’s in town and and his buddy who’s who’s in the Air Force down there um and every night they’re like why are we living in Arizona when we’re we’re out on a back patio just eating some food talking shooting the breeze and they’re like it’s just so beautiful here there’s a breeze there’s there’s mountains to look at and it’s like it’s not 120° and I’m like H youut tell it’s a cool spot I’m sure they’d love to have you guys in town There’s that’s why my sister is in Phoenix or in San Diego right now H that’s the spot they’ll they’ll have an MLS team shortly you’ll be getting road trips there so that’ll that’ll work for you all right Pablo we will let you go we appreciate the time and look forward to Atlanta united we ask a bunch of stuff about that but then we know you’d have to prect the game plan and lineup and all that and uh I did notice that they only made two changes midweek in New England so you got that going for you yeah which is nice yeah we have a we have a close eye on that our coaches have done a great job preparing the group and uh getting this all teed up and I I think uh we got a good good idea what Atlanta’s going to do so now it’s just about going out and executing but really appreciate being on the show with you guys all right thanks Pablo we appreciate it Pablo masteron RL head coach and I did watch those highlights PK and the way New England scored the first goal switching the point of attack to The Far Side playing a ball 40 yards up the channel it looked like exactly the way RSL plays I mean I could have absolutely I can tell you each guy for RSL who you plug in that spot and essentially their version of Diego Luna ended up scoring a goal it’s like that that game was an absolute road map if Atlanta plays like that uh RSL ought to be in good shape are you are you predicting fireworks the fireworks after the third game fireworks in the game you got to be careful that CU just when you think you know you never know uh that Houston game RSL Houston and LFC are the three best defensive teams in the west coming in they’d only given up 23 goals tied for the best so naturally it’s a three to2 game that had you know 10 or 15 good chances in it it doesn’t make any sense but every game takes life of it own that’s the old Bronco menal line and when I think I know I learned that I don’t know so I’m going to start stop trying to anticipate what’s not going to happen anyway so why worry about it when I was uh working in TV in Sacramento and we were Staffing 49er games the Falcons came to Candlestick and the other sports guy and I split up the trips that happened to be a week I was down at Candlestick at the game and it was a wild game it was a year that Joe Montana was hurt and Steve Young’s there and he’s throwing the ball all over the place he’s going back and forth Dion broke a long return for a touchdown the place went nuts and I think he finished 3734 or 35 something like that was very high-scoring close entertaining game and so the rematch was coming up and somebody asked Jerry Glenville you ready for another suit out he goes oh it’ll probably be 13 to1 they’re like why the last game he goes I don’t know why I just know that we played a team twice it ends up being really different I don’t know why it just is it’s the same thing can’t figure it out when we come back David lock well not immediately when we come back coming up 15 minutes David lock radio voice of the Utah Jazz will join us what are the Jazz going to do is there going to be a big Trade A Deal plenty of speculation we’ll talk with David about what he thinks might happen coming up in 15 minutes right here on the Zone ladies and gentlemen may I present this is JJ and Alex sea dersy is going to be wearing the number 50 for the Utah Hockey Club we showed flashes of of greatness I want to say it was was really special when we were on our game playing that kind of exciting offensive aggressives to hockey we’re taking the game to you know other teams we beat some really good teams this year and and you know teams that went on to be contenders down the stretch the question is is can we do it on a consistent basis and I think like like you guys said and bringing in these players a little bit of experience the guys last year just knowing what we got went through with all the adversity and just the distractions away from hockey I think we we really bonded from that and we’re really really excited to finally be able to just play hockey and focus on being a really good hockey team catch JJ and Alex afternoons from 3: to 6 presented by GT G bars on 975 the KSL Sports Zone the band of the day today is huie Lewis in the news huie Lewis celebrating his 74th birthday the band of the day brought you by Live Nation for all the live concerts and events in 2024 check out live nation.com that was a time PK when the 49ers or the Giants or the A’s couldn’t play a big game without huie Lewis and the News coming out and singing The Anthem they were huge sports fans and I don’t know if they were leveraging their music get close to the sports or if the sports teams were leveraging uh popular musician but it worked for everybody certainly did I think that their most popular album was literally called sports sports and uh 74 today and then I think everybody thought this song was I got a new truck uh not a new drug a new truck yeah who doesn’t want a new truck yeah makes sense you know what I mean I do want a new truck right I mean and and now that’s what they should have done they didn’t real Utah didn’t realize that when they introduced the uh trucks to the players Truck Yeah Junior tuna got in and started driving and and the uh the people who were responsible went running after him I think it was ton I’m not sure but I think it was him but they should have had this blasting over the the PA system which would have really been cool because everybody when we first heard this she couldn’t go look up to lyrics thought it was I want a new truck yeah well here you go here you go guys and then later later on the basketball men’s and women’s teams we were at that one at the Huntsman Center and they should add that I want a new truck it fit and of course as you know UI Lewis went to high school in New Jersey yay where he was an all State baseball player see so the love for sports comes naturally obviously chance to see he and his band at the Sandy Ampitheater and then the Eckles theater downtown there on Main Street used to be right by the where the old Tribune building was and that facility is awesome I’ve seen several shows and even some plays there and I’m not a big play guy but uh I’ve gone there and that place is just absolutely Sensational coming up David lock is going to join us to talk about potential moves lots of rumor lots of speculation PK yeah how much for sure how much weight I mean we can’t know the specifics of any any deal so everything’s a little guess but it sounds like there’s real interest but how much willingness is there to pay because Danny Ain just sure to be charging top dollar here if you want to Prime Market in a way how legit is or is this something that’s fun to talk about but the price tag is just too high well it depend you determine whether the price tag is too high and you are by you you mean the Warriors or whatever other team you’d like to throw out there right Oklahoma City right exactly the price tag is high but you put the qualifier too high you know where are you in terms of winning because you look at OKC man depending on obviously what have to give up everything has a price uh but you you put a seven-footer of the caliber of marketing on that team and that just makes them a lot lot better you know you’re not going to give up sgaa that’s understood right you just simply not going to do that uh but then to me everybody else is on the table it’s just a question of how many I guess you probably wouldn’t give up HR either so if I could get him without giving up those two depending on how much I have to give up I’m probably going to have to give up Cody Williams’s brother uh but you know on the surface Mark margin is better than him uh the the Jaylen Williams just how much do you have to give up and how much do you need to give up that’s a thing too not just what you’re willing to but how much do you need to now I look at the Warriors you know to me if you’re not going to include kaminga click and with with that in mind if I give up kaminga is that enough to put the Warriors in contention I think if I’m dun leevy Jr the answer is no you’re still not there you still don’t match up with the Celtics the thunder right maybe Minnesota or Denver he makes you better if you give up kaminga and picks and so forth you know picks are not tangible right now today so for 2425 he makes you better he’s a better player than kaminga but I I think that’s a blow to what you’re trying to accomplish because then you have to factor in the other guys and you’re you’re not going to get there and for the Warriors they would obviously like one last title for Steph Curry and that would be awesome if they got it but I just think that they don’t have enough with Markin unless they didn’t have to give up kaminga but if I’m Danny no way you’ve got to give me kaminga I’ve been saying this for over a week whereas o OKC would be in a better spot the Spurs entirely different they’re looking to build and add a really really solid piece not to win it all this year but in two years you can say man look out DJ and PK we’re going to run all this by David lock he joins us next right here on the zone
