round four was a pretty close uh margin of 24 points in the end after they got out to a 35o lead at quarter time and we were chatting earlier and the majority in fact all of the losses for iges have been under uh 27 points with with four of them under 20 points so you’ve been in most games this we’ve been in every game and and uh you we’ve got a young group and we’ve we’ve um you know they’re developing as the year goes on but uh that game in particular I think we we outscored them for the final three quarters and it’s it’s a uh our conversions been a bit of a bit of a worry to be honest but but uh you get those es and flows with the young group and and I think that they’re coming on really well and and uh you know we can ourselves into this game today we can ourselves into every game our percentage says that we’re probably better than ninth um uh we just got got to get get some wins on the board coming onto the ground now uh couple of ends today Nathan mcferson and so Owen Thomas is that right he’s on debut couple of sowen Thomas is on his debut today he’s a first year player so he’s our fifth debut uh player this year so we’ve had a a lot of new talent coming through and and Nathan mcferson uh it’s his first a grade game for a few years he’s he’s played rugby and he’s come back to Footy again this year with his brother cam so it’s in fact their first game of senior footy together which is terrific and the other end is Nicholas Faraday is that right as well Nick Faraday’s come up he’s after um you playing some good footy in our in our reserves team so yeah yeah some massive for Old Nation on the ssur north side of things outgo bro Wagner and Callum Brown in come Jake Johansson you probably would have hoped he had a couple of weeks off he had a week off last week there goal machine he’s got 39 goals in 11 games this season and Jamie Jones comes in who’s been playing and reserves footy at Central districts but on the old nation’s side of things a big day Club Wise It’s your ladies day it’s pretty good crowd here of course the venue arguably the best in ad footy league and always good to take advantage of a beautiful day and uh get the crowd in get the ladies in and hopefully get some money in the club coffers for absolutely and we we we had our uh women’s team play last night here uh at Karen ronova versus Westminster we had a good crowd here last night we’ve just received a grant from the the office of uh wreck and Sport uh to develop uh coaching a coaching pathway for our for our uh women’s teams to get some players uh with some mentors and some coaching uh training so uh we we received that during the week which is uh we we appreciate the the the uh the the office of recck and Sport and certainly our our committee that put a lot of work into the application so um they get the day off today to do the ladies day we’ve got 100 along today so it’s a big uh a really really good day for the Club um and we’re looking forward to to putting a good show on here this afternoon and the coach Daryl Spencer um can you just tell us a little bit about him and darl darl’s been with us for two years you know tough year last year in div one um we knew where we were last year he knew where we were and it was all about getting games into young guys we had a number of senior players leave from the previous year uh lot retired couple moved into state is just one of those things and and uh so we got games into those guys and it’s stood them in good Stead for this season um Daryl’s been terrific with the with the young group teaching them the you know the real basics of footy he’s a he’s a really good thinker he communicates really well with the with the team and in fact the whole club right across the whole uh the whole uh men’s and women’s uh program so he’s he’s uh I think he’s a bit of a footy tragic he’s been around footy clubs all his life um we were talking the other day I think he might a coach against me in the ’90s somewhere you know like so yeah yeah it’s it’s we’re we’re we’re really fortunate to have him on Bo and what about your background my background yeah so I played out here Nations I played about 220 games um uh it’s my second go as president I was actually a playing president in the mid 90s um got a couple Lads playing out here so Will’s playing at a Hugh’s playing for Port they’re both topups for Port so I thought we’ll give it another go uh I’m coming out here anyway and and and we’ll get back on board as president and uh you my father coached out here in 1989 and he was a bit of a tragic he he he coached around the park at it’s various clubs you know in the 70s and ‘ 80s so we’re a bit of a footy Family actually we we love it well what’s the club known for what’s the sort of the culture of the club so look the culture of our club you know we we you know um we we’re a we’re we’re an old Scholars Club but we’re we’re a broad Church we’ve got players from everywhere we have a very good hookup with aquinus college yep um so we got a lot of country boys that play for us as well um uh and and look ultimately uh we we really just want a a place for young women and men to come and uh which is outside of their work and family yep feel safe get some exercise play footy win games of footy um you know that’s that’s what we’re about and we’re we’re we’re um uh we’re in a in a player rebuild and I’ll say that specifically because the club is in really good Nick yeah um we’re in a player rebuild at the moment and it’s coming along uh pretty well and and uh and and you know we look to see um uh you know some some results in the back half of this year that that that will stand Us in good State and with that taste of div one footy last year obviously as we see old igntion win the toss and they’re going to kick to the right of your stream screen and uh never said never but you’re four games out of the five at the moment so I dare say Obviously surviving the div would be a main goal for you but there is a massive game happening today between uni and Foss who are tied on points above you on the table so a win here as you mentioned your percentage is probably worth an extra game this is a big game for you obviously Salsbury have been traveling pretty well but as we’ve already touched on you’ve been in most games so it’s a big couple of weeks with six games left and I think you know when we talk about that div one experience for a lot of those young guys most of the coaches and that we we’ve played against this year have said you know that’s that’s that’s the hardest game our pressure is high our ability to tackle um and work players and and physically getting into the game has been great and that and that was all due to the year that they had last year where they were playing against the best am of footballers probably in the state week in week out and getting touched up but they they the effort was excellent and so they understand what that what that means and on that as well you often see those bottom two or three teams in patches can match it with the top three or four it’s just putting that four quarter effort together so consistency isn’t mentioned with Bon it’s arguably the best venue in my view in regards to how it’s been built and redeveloped in the Adela footy League Nations lucky to call it their home base fresh off a div1 season last year this season hasn’t been going all to plan they sit at Ninth position with three wins and nine losses Solsbury North taking it all before them so far tied for top spot with Ross Trevor old collegians with 10 wins and two losses in second by percentage looking to put themselves well and truly firmly in that grand final race coach Luke H playing coach lots of experience of course at Central districts 192 games with them so plenty of names on both sides 70th season I believe as as well so in great form and they started the season with a win against the top ranked Ross Trevor uh one of their losses also came against Ross Trevor as you outline in modbury so one of the inform sides at the moment let’s see how IGS go against them today both sides have had fascinating form lines at every loss for Old Nation Under 27 points four of them under 20 and in fact five of souls North’s wins have been under 24 points or less so when they win they uh they win by small margins and when they lose old IGN Nations it’s also by that small margin so it should be a fascinating encounter as we’re underway at Karen Ros noal this afternoon the men and green marrick cars and Cody Ralston to fensom finds candoo the balls in the outer wing with Stokes he goes for a short kick and just putting the one Juke out finding it it’s Brad Johansson looking for his brother inside 50 not going to starting to ring early here for the host Salsbury North out of the blocks beautifully inside 6 minutes they lead 3-1 Iggy yet to get on the board darish replay pretty much directly in front would have put him down before he took the kick and he put it through lovely well called by you Goldie pierce his 29th goal in 30 appearances for SSB nor so he’s been there a couple of seasons in the senior ranks and back in the middle so early change of plans on the boundary line for Daryl Spencer and old IGN Nation wind doesn’t seem to be a factor slight breeze left of screen but not too much no
