all right y’all bearder Bros Golf Show back at it again I’m rod and I’m Marcus um interesting times we’re living in this week uh Marcus if y’all know it’s down in Houston affected by Hurricane Barrel still without power so as you can see he’s in a uh kind of alternate location today interesting not his normal spot um yeah here we are again five alterate location today feedback six six days now without power uh yep six days since Monday morning 8:43 a.m. yeah um Center Point is absolutely the worst um we could get into all the the BS about Texas and it’s energy grid but we could be talking for a long time especially going back to the the big freeze of few years ago when um you know when you only got things in the hands of a few uh you’re kind of at their mercy and Mark’s just filling me in about uh the unfortunate circumstances of across the street has power down the block has power but where people live where he lives and people close to him do not have power um honestly it’s one of the reasons that I decided to get up out of Houston I couldn’t do it anymore it just wasn’t working out and yeah man tough tough place to be in and we’re not even really into the meat of hurricane season so we still got a long ways to go the end of the end of August cannot come soon enough but here we are still looking at Hurricane Chris and everything else as well so what what a week it’s been yeah it’s like still in the Gulf somewhere but you know that’s it’s neither here nor there at the moment you just you got to do what you can and just try to stay as positive as you can I mean unfortunately it it is it is what it is at this moment and I’m just thankful to have a place to where I can lay my head and have some AC and some lights and you know I just got Wi-Fi back um Friday at here at uh family members house so super thankful to just be able to speak and be on the live you know I was talking with Rod and he was like you gonna be good and I was like man I’ll go to I’ll go to the job if I need to to get the pod in it’s it’s you know the work got to keep going you know people aren’t always going to be as sympathetic about your cause as you think they would be you know that it’s it’s the world we live in here in 2024 but you know like I was telling ra you just got to keep going it is what it is that’s true you gotta put your head down power through um yeah yeah we took a week off a couple weeks ago and yeah we’re back at it you know we stay dedicated to to this thing talking golfing it was actually a pretty packed week of golf events to be honest with you and absolutely still got a lot going on as we speak the uh Isco which went by a different name not too long ago um which is now a co-sanctioned event between the DP World Tour and PGA Tour they um went into a fiveman playoff it’s down to three as we speak and they’re just teeing off again um that 18th hole was a bit of a butt kicker tight little Drive ended up either kind of needing to go short or ended up in that bunker um several people throwing it off the back of that green not being able to get it to stop this is inside of 150 so yeah definitely a tough finishing hole out there in Kentucky but um as that one finishes up again we have Pearson cudy Harry Hall and I think it’s Matthew naith still in the uh the playoff there so we we’ll update that as that goes along uh in other news from the PGA Tour and our headline story Keegan Bradley surprising earlier in the week announced as the 2025 writer Cup captain uh I would say that the majority of the masses were pleasantly surprised but definitely surprised I can’t say um I saw that one coming at all given previous picks given our last debacle at the Ryder Cup with Zack Johnson and we’ve talked heavily about that and how bad that was leading into it um we even talked about it in real time the snub of Keegan Bradley who was actually having a pretty dang good season a couple of years ago and did not make the team so what’ you think about the pick when that came out um honestly I think it’s really to me it kind of just turns into I’m sorry moment like I’m sorry you weren’t on the team the last time we played instead here just be the captain and we all know what’s going to come next or we can all assume what’s going to come next and that’s going to be him being a playing Captain so hopefully he has some good juju going next season or leading into next season and you know it’ll be justified and um yeah but I mean it’s really a home a home game for him out there on the Northeast Coast um went to St John so played the course many a times so knows Beth pige black like the back of his hand he’s always said um so definitely know he’ll have a lot of home fans there cheering him on um not necessarily mad at the pick to be honest either I think he’ll I think he’s old enough and been on the tour long enough to still be a motivating factor um he’s been on some good teams he’s been in some unfortunate moments so you know I feel like he’s had a well well-rounded writer cup career to know the ins and outs and be able to form formidable relationships with these guys and you know be able to have a win in formula for next year so not necessarily mad about it but you know it wasn’t the name I was thinking just like you said it’s it definitely wasn’t on my bingo card but I I think when they uh kind of announced that tiger was not going to take it that it it became kind of a matad dash to figure it out and of course hopefully you know that they planned for that in the future Alternatives that tiger wouldn’t accept it so saw him you know get the surprise pick he even said that he didn’t know until he got the call which is kind of crazy to me right so maybe uh yeah maybe they had a list that was deeper than that in case he did not accept that as well you just never know if some putting someone in that position uh the one thing that I tend to like about it is that keeg and Bradley doesn’t seem to be a part of the kind of in group in the PGA Tour just like the Buddy Buddy click he’s kind of a bit of an outsider uh kind of the underdog yeah he’s been in Ridder cups but again he’s not you know all in the group and he’s just kind of a to himself type of guy um seems cool seems to have good relationships but again just not in the click which I think is beneficial for everybody I we saw the negative yeah absolutely we saw the negative effects of people being too close to the situation and not being able to separate themselves bench people that didn’t need to be out there ruffle some FEA is where it was needed and we saw that from day you know before day one of the ryer cup actually commencing all the way through that some tough decisions that should have been made just were not made so ke Bradley salute to that man I think this was going to be a winner the interesting comment uh was Rory malroy at the Genesis open this week said that he was in shock and I think uh to be honest with you I think this has the Euros somewhat puzzled and spooked at the same time uh they were able to draw upon Luke Donald last you know time around again he’s still out there playing was he a playing captain no but he’s still in the game uh and he was able to Marshall his team to a dominant win yes the US team was mismanaged heavily but Luke Donald as a current player was able to do his thing so I I found Rory’s comments to be con of concern I think they’re a little bit worried what do you think about that part of it uh yeah I mean I think it was I think it was just a shock to everybody’s system I mean really just going across the gr growing against the g a grain of going against the grain but um yeah words are difficult um I don’t know it’s it’s still kind of just trying to formulate in my head right now I’m still like I I honestly was really more hoping that like a Steve Stricker guy like another dad type would make it but a likable dad type I feel like Steve Stricker yeah or steuart sink were definitely gonna be names on my little board that I had but you know Keegan Bradley’s a dad too he’s got two little ones and he’s got a wife he’s a family man so it might still be that case I just think I don’t know I I just think it would have got a little bit too buddy buddy again if it was um steuart sink I think he plays too much you know he has a a son a little bit I mean a little bit younger than most of these guys’ age mid 20s and stuff that sced for him again it’s just it’s a tough situation it’s a tough situation and you and you you kind of jumped on it the uh that was going to be my next question for is who would you pick as a CO not a CO yeah like as oh you know co- captains and you kind of mentioned some names in there that I think could could fit and still kind of bring that aspect to the team room but I think I think you got to look at a guy like kizner I think he’ll be a good asset uh a real fire starter I mean he’ll he’s gonna be honest and I think that’s what this team needs I think everybody needs a reality check I think everybody needs to realize what the ultimate goal of this is and that’s to win so if you play one session and it’s the solo session or you play one session other than your solo session and it’s still a winning formula I think we need to take that into account we’re not g to play favorites here we’re not gonna just ride coattails whoever’s playing the best golf should get the should get the best time and still keep going and then also I think people need to be a little bit more mature about it even if I’m playing well and I’m I know I’m physically tired it’s time to sit at least one session out there’s nothing wrong with playing four out of the five sessions and going four and0 because four and0 is still four and0 and you got your team Four Points there’s no need in you playing all five sessions just because you’re on a heater but you know that you’re hanging on for you know dear life just going off an adrenaline because that’s when mistakes can happen and that’s when you can all fall off and we all know how mental the game of golf is so I I feel like it’s an easy chance for people to really understand how mature they need to be going forward as far as it goes 100% um good words on that yeah so we’ll see how things shape up we’ll see how the picks go over the next year how I don’t know even American players speak up I haven’t seen much from uh the current crop of guys in this situation I think everybody’s still in a little bit of shock and trying to figure out where things are going so there might be some different faces like you said maybe I think like with a a kizner could be a time for an influx of new blood and kind of reshuffling the deck on the American Golf side so I’m all in favor of doing that um kind of knocking out the Old Guard and starting new and um not getting our butts kicked every time we go over to Europe absolutely um so in real time as as mom put up here uh just saw an awesome putt which actually was a chip in from uh Harry Hall at the Isco said whatever the Isco Championship is secondary it is a secondary event um against the Genesis this week so uh being able to get those guys that you know didn’t aren’t going over uh you know this week to Scotland and the tuneup for the open so um shout out to Harry Hall getting his first professional win guy that’s kind of been on the cusp of doing it for quite a while I’ve had some shots over the last year or two I’m finally getting one and with a again a clutch chip in on uh the second playoff hole so shout out to that man maybe the third playoff hole might have lost track as we were starting up so um got got to win it I mean there were some really yeah definitely we’ll keep going down we’ll keep going down the line there were some really uh spectacular finishes uh this week around the world of golf so um Harry Hall good guy all right so let’s slide down to the Genesis since that came up um first kind of like non winning story Justin Thomas saw a little feature started off his Genesis open with the 628 under on that course they were talking about he had a new putter in the bag been watching Jordan Speed picked up his and kind of found some inspiration said he lik the feel of it clearly it was getting some uh run after that first round 62 uh he went on to shoot 7271 71 for over over the next couple of days or next few days to finish uh four under for the tournament gave back half The Strokes still clearly searching for his game man um and to me I get I think the 62 is indicative of the talent that He Still possesses but I still like he’s it feels like he’s fighting some demons internally to to not be able to get together another decent round under par throughout the rest of the week when other players were able to go low and get scores on the board what do you we’ve talked about him numerous times what do you think about this kind of putter switch getting some inspiration and then falling right back off um yeah I think it’s a tough situation as far as JT goes I mean it’s really really something that I think he’s trying a little bit I think he’s kind of forcing it to be honest and as a fellow Hooper you know how that goes you know sometimes the shot ain’t falling you know next thing you know you dribbling a little bit too hard you you isoing too much now you trying to get to the real now you getting your shot block teammates mad at you coaches mad at you what you doing bro I I think this is what we have right here with JT I think it’s just a little bit of a force because again like you said bro knows he’s a Hooper bro knows he can get Buckets it’s just a matter of letting it happen and I don’t think he’s letting this organically this game come back to him I think he’s trying to get too far away from what made him him which is that high right arm that high fade and just being able to control It Low Middle High hitting it out of those tunnels and just playing that fade to the best of his ability again Alex noren has made a living plan that fade I mean there’s plenty of guys that play only a draw Ryan Palmer’s played a draw for 44 years of his life there’s nothing wrong with playing one shot shape and being able to control you know what I’m saying and again we like we said we all know how it goes if you really just want to hit a draw that’s your straight shot bro you straightened it out enough you didn’t let it fall enough right that should be your that should be okay with you everything else needs to be short game and putting that’s what you need to worry about you you’re now you’re all of a TR trying to hit bunt drivers you’re trying to hit these low stingers and all kinds of just shots that not necessarily is your game to quote the great to quote the great Patrick Yuan what is that shot do you practice that shot do you even practice that shot so that I think that’s where I’m at with JT right now bro stop stop it just go to what you know practice I love the Patrick youan reference love it I love it man so so you know we’ve talked a lot about tiger um and his kind of infinite wisdom and really giving out some great golf tips I feel like to a certain degree we know how close he and JT are I think the influence of tiger on JT has actually been detrimental to JT’s game and the fact that um tiger one of the greatest of all time able to hit it out of you know we’ve seen the Taylor Made promos where he’s like you hit it out of these nine Windows the draw Hyo you know mid straight ball Hilo mid you know faded H mid all those nine windows and I think it’s kind of tried to influence JT to try out things that maybe he doesn’t have the physical talent for yeah so I’m all about yeah like find a shot shape that works for you and move around the t- box to make that shot shaped work sometimes that you may not be playing from quote unquote the ideal side of the Fairway um and you may have some different angles into certain greens I think that’s worth doing um versus the type of golf that he’s playing now um I’ve really gotten not entranced but I’m fascinated by Scott faucet and the decade golf system and that’s one of the things that he actually talks about is that there’s this over analysis on if it’s a left pin playing from the right side of the Fairway vice versa right yeah where you have the best angle in and the most green to work with when the stats don’t necessarily bear that out is that people tend to to hit it Clos and on the green more often when they have either a bad angle straight on or whatever the case may be so I don’t know man I feel like again he’s all in his head and then doing things that are outside of the scope of his abilities and again his his abilities are high it’s no doubt that he’s an amazing golfer you don’t end up winning two PJ championships one legitimate one was a choke by Meo Pereira but you don’t win two PJ championships without having some immense Talent and we’ve seen him just kind of year in year out um bring it to the table have wins on tour but the last couple of years have been uh really hard to watch given his talent level but say lovey that’s JT um on moving on on the Genesis Bob McIntyre man getting his second win of the Year man first one up in Canada on state you know on the PGA tour with his dad on the bag we did a what’s in the bag for that particular week so I’ll link it down in the description go check that out it wasn’t watched enough and I thought that was a really good one he’s kind he’s a bit of a club free agent so he’s got an interesting bag go check out that what’s in the bag um it’s also on the what’s in the bag playlist on the channel as well um but Bob McIntyre clutch putt on 18 22 ft uh down the hill from the middle of the green uh was aggressive from about 167 out he was on the right hand rough again we’re talking about those angles he was on the right side playing to a right pin and put himself pin high in the middle of the green so it’s funny that swings right back around again he makes the clutch putt Adam Scott actually had a chance coming in before him was actually a little bit lower or excuse me a little bit closer and below the hole I just didn’t give his putt a good run at it and wasn’t able to get that stroke advantage and left the door open for Bob me Tyre what do you think about this man we said he was playing Jane earlier in the year he’s you know nothing uh he’s not some super athlete he’s just a guy a grinder guy that get it done what do you think about this second win and his country’s home uh open yeah I was just getting ready to reference that I mean when won two of the two Count’s National opens and did it in pretty good fashion I mean you got to say a walk-off Birdie on 18 going against Adam Scott who set a good number went under par um you know it was I think he had a lot of good ball striking you definitely did made some clutch putts especially on 18 I mean that was a double breaker from the top of the hill you saw it come off and it was a for righties it was a fade putt first and then came in and went right to left like kind of at the hold to drop on in on that rightand side uh I mean just Just Nails really and I mean said it this is something that he has wanted to win if he didn’t win anything else in his career as long as he won the Scottish he was Gucci so I mean for him to put it put it in the work like that definitely kudos to him and I mean I think this is something that he can gain some momentum from just like what we said with Rory I don’t think he’s gonna have anything to do with the winning of w with the winner circle next week just because of the emotion involved in this and you know as much adrenaline that he put forward to get this but you know we’re gonna live and we’re going to have a good time the rest of this weekend and then we’re gonna go out and we’re gonna shoot some decent numbers again at trun and uh we’re just gonna build off of this and I think this is gonna be a good Mark for him as far as it goes with um the writer cup for the European team next year Luke Donald of course you know is keeping an eye out on that stuff so yeah I think this is gonna be a really a really dangerous couple like basically year and a half for Bob McIntyre so hopefully he can keep this momentum going um and then hopefully not play too good for the writer cup European team in 2025 so we that we can beat him I think I just like the genuine attitude of the man he just you can just tell he puts his heart and soul into very and winning continues to mean a lot to him um so you know when people come around like that you want them to get everything that they deserve and that they’ve worked hard for um so shout out to him man I think he’s a really good guy for the game and just shows his passion he’s again he was kind of out there for a while where we’re seeing him kind of pop up on leaderboards here and there he come play State Side um have some high finishes in Majors so he was he was kind of out there and kind of building up to this moment and we’re we’re starting to see the culmination of that so Bob Mac and Tire good dude um you know good luck to him this you know this one of the guys um Ed shun yeah yeah one you’re a regular dude you can sit down and have a beer with him absolutely definitely um any other stories from from the Genesis that you picked up on I do want to say one thing we I texted you about it there’s been a re I don’t know man a Resurgence of guys kind of getting their game back together and um I’ve been watching Mato manaco um he was the upand comer when we first both started golfing and was this young talent that was you know Making Waves over you know overseas and most recently he’s been doing pretty well on the DP World Tour this year seeing his name again at the top of leaderboards and and he was hanging around this week as well um what do you think about M young Mato he’s still a young guy man I like his swing uh it’s a it’s flat it’s laid off it’s probably like a three quarter swing for everybody else but that’s his full swing it’s really good I I have always been a fan of him um it’s a lot of good like you look through the leaderboard and it’s a lot of names that you just kind of like I didn’t expect you to be there but I’m happy you are there like Adam Scott perfect example um sah tagala his swing is looking good this week I think sah tagala is gonna I don’t know if he’s gonna be just like a consistent winner but I think sah tagala with the ball striking that he has and his ability to hit different shots and practice different shots is definitely gonna win him some Majors down the line um I I’m very excited to how it goes for him um sad to see lvic Auber kind of fade off into the sunset like that but you know he’s young you know it’s not always going to be your day and you’re not always going to be up for that challenge but he’s already won on tour so it’s not like he can’t do it again it just didn’t happen this time um no and and we’ve seen him close in big moments US Open he was right there right there yeah uh I want to talk about Aaron Ry but I don’t want to like get into a tangent but Aaron Ry to me is just one of the weirdest situations on in golf to me okay I meanor besides the gloves which are cool understandable iron covers great story love the story you know got it out the mud love that I’m trying to figure out how Aaron Ry does anything successful you look at his swing it’s very ordinary I mean he hits all the positions I guess but it’s a super weak grip the club is wide open he hits this just like baring bumbling stumbling Fade up the Fairway you look at the yardages you look at the averages he’s hitting clubs as if we were hitting clubs he just hits it out of the middle so much that he gets a little bit extra consistent but I see like but like like one of the it was one of the events maybe the the the one in D Detroit the rocket mortgage when he was challenging um I mean buddy hit like it was like a 180 shot downwind downhill and he’s hitting like a full six iron I’m like I’m not saying everybody else would have been hitting a eight iron but like you hitting a six what it’s not about distance I mean we all know okay we all know a guy I know but we all know a guy that we play with and they’re not particularly long but they can hang right find true ways to get around the course um to a certain degree I I don’t like watching Aaron Ry because he’s very deliberate and takes his sweet time I’m sure that allows him to analyze make good decisions in his at least in his mind right so I mean I get it has Aaron R slapped your puppy or something this is this is how a this is interesting when I didn’t know you had had deep feelings for Aon r i yeah no very random land very random land I just yeah and I I yeah it sounds like I’m giving him like some Strays and stuff like that but I’m just I’m just trying to figure it out can we get a sports science ESPN step in I need to see something what that’s I’m trying to make it make steady you know cuz like you you watch him on TV and it’s like he not making clutch putts you watch him throughout the week he not hit no like crazy up and downs he not def like it’s not like oh my God he hit that to two feet like that was so the Finesse the touch like you know I don’t see that I’m just I just want to know how he’s figured it out M middle of the greens putting to the corner I don’t know I think it’s probably it’s worth watching I think you know when we talk about um guys especially guys amateur guys that are really good or talented trying to compare themselves to the top men it’s not really a comparison there’s a whole another level there um maybe Aaron R like we say like the really really great women’s players um are a better comparison just maybe while somewhat athletic not top tier athletic but able to figure out out kind of the fundamentals of the game and I think he’s the type that also gets finds something that he knows works and sticks with it couple times when he’s been close I’ve looked up his what’s in the bag and the man’s Still rocking a tailor made M6 driver if that says anything so maybe he sacrificed maybe some of the new tech and distance for accuracy found found a driver that is good for him maybe I’m sure he’s got to try out stuff here and there is disgusting apparently there’s not been an up maybe there’s not been an upgrade worth having for him over whatever time period uh I mean there’s been a ton of tailor made drivers that have come out since that M6 so who knows man where is Peter kasas when you need him I need a k kanuka manot Vision swing analysis please no pet Peter Peter cus is somewhere on Twitter Mad and ranting about tour and and CBS golf but that was that used to be a really cool feature when he would break it down uh we need a little bit more of that back in the broadcast well as long as it’s not cold in the no we’ll be all right oh he can’t break it down that’s not his Forte at all I um let’s see let’s get into the ladies in the uh Evon uh Championship over in France we had Seline boutier defending on her home turf as well um did not have a great showing I’ll kind of work backwards Nelly Corda Lily AV Vu Lyn Grant there was a grouping of ladies all at kind of five under t26 I mean I sort of God it was like 10 Deep at t26 so we saw Nelly Nelly kind of get back on the you know not winning but making the cut playing decently enough um this course they play on seems to be one where you either kind of it fits you or it doesn’t cuz there seems to be a big gap between there was you know a grouping at the top and then it was a separation and then a big drop down again for t26 to be at um you know five under and the winning number to be at I think it was it 18 or 19 under that’s a big gap between those yeah 19 so so that’s that’s pretty wild um so again I think this is just one of those um courses for horses um and came down to a really clutch finish by uh aaka fur she’s had an amazingly good but kind of quiet 2024 season we’ve seen her at the top of leader boards I kind of went down her results for the year just to see how she had fared and really outside of like a cut last week at the Dow which I think that was that team event um she’s you know been you know banging them out hadn’t been hadn’t missed any Cuts before then uh was t50 was like her worst finish everything else was about top 20 or better couple of seconds handful of top fives so I think she was due and the way she won it was in clutch fashion coming down the stretch she was five under in the last five holes and that included a eagle on number 18 uh to take the lead and all the kind of day I was watching uh what’s her name Laura Lauren Lauren cin yeah had had a comfortable lead and seemed like she was coasting and I think that’s that’s what it feels like when you look at her score scorecard came out with a pretty uh pretty good front nine uh four shots under and then ended up you know really even through seven holes on the back and then end ended up bogey 17 and 18 to to lose it honestly um that’s unfortunate especially with number 18 being a par five to Bogey that one and maybe just after Bogan 17 there was that mental breakdown but it never seemed like she got it going on the back nine uh I don’t know how much you got to watch this one this one was some weird times in the morning but what do you think about uh this week’s Evan uh yeah um I definitely enjoyed it last year when I got a chance to watch it a lot so the course is just you know spectacular in the mountains sloping greens up and down the fairways and stuff like that just really pure as far as you know Golf and major championship golf I definitely think they have found a venue to keep that EV on at I definitely think that’s a really good deal um you look at the names on the on the leaderboard Patty T I mean she had a really good start to the week some mediocre stuff yeah and then came out and Willie went crazy on the final day just didn’t have enough gas and then Stephanie I’ve been following her on IG since like earlier this year and she’s really just kind of just mosy on along and I think she’s a Titleist athlete because I see her you know trying out the GT clubs and getting their little Prov or prov1x promos and stuff like that um very unfortunate for her because again much like in LPGA fashion you’re leading you shoot an under an underpar round and still get caught and effectively laed like but I mean you look at just like you were saying you look at the scorecard she was doing the work and then all of a sudden she buggies 17 she doesn’t buggy 17 and Birdie’s 18 just like she did they’re in a playoff so yeah I don’t know I shout out to bridgstone golf with Furia but I really think this is a case of Steph and Coughlin um really just kind of not doing what they were supposed to do as Leaders or co-leaders or whatnot they really could have you know set a better a set or better tone a set or better pace and maybe she doesn’t get it done maybe the eagle just gets her into a playoff or maybe the eagle gets her to one under or something like that but yeah I wish I would have got a chance to watch more of the coverage of it but yeah with the you know situations at hand I did not have that opportunity yeah and that’s the thing you know I would have been I would have been fine waking up for it I did have a couple of early shifts and everything as well so I did get to catch it on Thursday when I opened I caught a lot of the coverage and saw the numbers physically Friday all off and then of course where I’m staying we did not have Wi-Fi at the moment till later on that evening so I wasn’t able to keep up with the coverage as you know as much as I would like and then Saturday um I had to work but we didn’t but the again like you said the coverage was real at a weird time so by the time I got in to where I could see any coverage it was already on like the Isco Championship or the the PGA Tour Champions or something like that so oh God they were they were uh giving they were giving the Champions Tour all kind of run this weekend chill can y’all Chill on that please I I just looked and every time I put it on the Golf Channel it was on there and I’m like bro like I like Steve Stricker but please please I’m tired man what y like what are yall replay the Scottish open golly please that I they did I think they double back on that but um again these ladies playing some really good golf um again I’m I’m happy to see another one of their kind of stars get you know a run at a major they still have the AIG Women’s Open and theirs is late in later in the summer so uh we won’t see them play their last major until late August they have like five events coming up in between then and now um and they even now have I don’t know if they’ve always done this and forgive me for not knowing they now have a Scottish open that they’re leading into their Women’s Open with um and it just caught my eye cuz I was like hey man if if it’s working for the men it seems to be a great tuneup event just to kind of it’s a different style of Golf Link style golf is it requires different skills so I I like them duplicating that and kind of following suit and pattern uh with the men on the PGA tour and also having a Scottish open yeah absolutely I just think again as we talked about the lpj is this all over the place they’re playing play in France right now they go all the way back over and where do they play Ohio Ohio then we go from Ohio to Alberta Canada and then back over to Portland and then we have the Scottish open and the open and then the the Women’s Open right behind it August 15th then August 22nd just real crazy you know just trying to figure golf in when you can you know that’s what it feels like sometimes with the LPGA yeah can you golf next week all right cool yeah yeah we’ll make a te time at at least at least they have two weeks in between that Portland and then going over to Scotland uh agreed for the Scot open because that that’s that would be some brutal travel going from one side of the us having to go all the way across the us then to Europe um so yeah giving them a little bit of relief in the ch to rest up and get their bodies back in you know in condition to then go acoss absolutely across the pond so hey it’s it’s interesting when when you’re when you’re it feels like with the LPGA and we’ve said this you know they’re figuring out as as they go they’re building the plane in the air and we kind of see some of the the results of that there’s some kind of uneven parts of the schedule especially earlier in the year where it felt like there was a 3-we stretch or something like that where they didn’t play and it was just bizarre and we were like what’s the deal man um and that was after starting early and having a really good run and then they disappeared so they’ll I I think they’ll figure it out the good thing for them is that they have a lot of talent um backing them up and you know the ladies of the tour seem to really embrace the diversity and the different countries that are represented on the LPGA there’s no animosity I remember early in the you know 2000s when we first again started getting into it all the rumbles about the uh ladies from Korea and China coming over and them not speaking English and there was a lot of kind of snippy a-hole type comments about that but now that oh yeah you know the American Golf contingent is doing well and it seems very much like it’s really spread out it’s it’s all across the world now at this point we see Lyn Grant representing Sweden we see a lot of Australian golfers coming over as well so um it’s a you know the women’s tour actually is a world tour so maybe maybe maybe the women maybe Liv might need to take some pointers on what LPGA is doing to make the game Global for sure and I think it’s like what we were talking about you know as you mature and gain more knowledge on situations that you were not previously knowledgeable about you know you open your eyes to that and I think that’s what the lp has done they’ve opened their eyes to the experiences and to the opportunities that they have at this world tour that they have going so that’s why you know they got the Asian swing twice they have you know plenty of events in America and then of course they don’t have any problem traveling across the border anywhere so I think they have definitely done a good job of opening it up just like what we said it’s just if they could get some kind of you know I mean it’s just the PGA is so manicured we’re so spoiled they have the Florida swing they move it on along it’s all in a little rope they’re going down the road there’s no hopping around it’s not Hopscotch with the PGA Tour I just think they need to get just a little bit more on the you know just a little bit more help with the sponsorships to help that kind of align more but yeah the money is coming especially the way the tour is jumped off this year it’s coming for sure and I think when they do their release coming forward 25 26 especially leading into oh and you know whole time we’re not even talking about the Olympics that they got coming up too so yeah they’re gonna have to get ready for that as well um and I think that’s why they have that two week break to travel right because one of those weeks they’re gonna be playing golf July 26 is July 26 is opening event for the Olympics and I think they start probably that weekend in between goes all the way through August 11th so I wouldn’t that’s not that’s makes sense from a scaling standpoint yeah if they if it’s August if it’s August 11th then they probably start in their eight S8 n 10 11 4 Day event and then that’ll would align with them starting the Scottish open that very next week so yeah I think that’s probably what’s going to happen I guess we could do some we’ll talk about it we got plenty of time we’ll figure it out get closer to that definitely um so again cl to the LPGA ladies for doing their thing and representing themselves incredibly well on the world stage so thing that blew up and we’ve kind of been talking about this in the background is folks I I wouldn’t call us influencers I would never call myself an influencer I don’t care how big this show gets or you know Instagram or whatever I just hate that term it’s it’s like so overdone um you know we’re just a couple guys that like enjoy golf talking about Golf and if people like it cool if you don’t like it that’s cool too you know thing that’s that’s fine with us either way but we’ve seen this infiltration of people who are not golf centered introducing themselves into golf and then all this you know attention flares to them um even though I had to retract a video from last year about like DJ khed because there was a quote that seemed like it was attributed to him but it wasn’t but either way I don’t like the vibe that DJ khed gives off around golf it’s very clownish to me that’s just my personal opinion if you like DJ khed and golf that’s that’s fine um no shade on you but there just seems to be these characters every few months that pop up on the scene and you see them get traction their videos are out there um the latest of this and this was in the chat with um us and our mom was about this NFL cornerback for the Jets sauce Gardner and I have the first video that I think probably took off for a lot of people which is him golfing in the rain let me get this uh queued up here with an actual lightning strike in the video exactly freaking exactly I’m going go big screen [Music] here yeah not not dangerous at all not dangerous at all goofy um and and the cap the caption on the video was essentially if rain doesn’t stop fo football games why would I let it stop my round of golf we drive the green okay the problem is the lightning right as you pointed out rightly is that cool rain if you want to play through rain that’s your prerogative you can do that but we all know metal sticks in hand combined with lightning that is the stoppage point for golf that is why that is not doable it’s the stoppage point for football too like please the CTE is already hitting my boy at early 20s Lord how many times in high school you got caught off the field because it was lightening in the area and it’s way more broader in football you know some courses five miles okay you know we can Let It Rock 10 miles most is the general aspect in football it’s like 15 to 20 miles in the any vicinity you’re in the locker room bro what are we talking about what yeah it’s not even a question and we’ll hang out until it’s gone and it’s got to be the last exactly it’s worse than golf it’s got to be 30 to 45 minutes in between lightning strikes within a certain mileage and then we can put you back out on the football field so again just the obtuseness of it all is just wild it’s just to me yeah go ahead I was just saying I don’t like the whole I I we’ve talked about this as well as a general theme of growing the game shrinking the game we’ve talked about the proliferation of people getting into golf since the pandemic in 2020 and you’re seeing courses completely full so just as a microcosm of this experience so I have a group that I play with on the weekend I’m the booker of the tea times and it’s gotten so ridiculous at certain points so you know most courses tea times open up 7 days out um in and around Dallas you have a mixture some for weekends it opens up the Wednesday before let’s say a Saturday other ones it’s like 2 o’clock in the morning so you’re literally online at 2 a.m. trying to book for the following Saturday and that’s what’s required because if you wait till Sun up you can’t get a tea time until the afternoon and when it’s 100 degrees and humid who wants to play golf in that kind of weather and that’s this is this is what is frustrating is that I don’t like the there’s this counterculture around golf right and we’ve talked about this and we’re trying to remain non uh what’s we’re not trying to be the stuffy keep it the same forever type of folks that’s not who we are clearly we wouldn’t be welcoming in the game if this was 1950s but it’s just this whole thing of come as you are again this dude’s out here with no shirt on on the golf course Co yesterday I saw two dudes um in tank tops and I was like dude okay I get it it’s hot but tank tops man no I mean there’s just certain things I think should be upheld do I think I want more people involved in golf because there’s wonderful opportunities of ailable within the game yes great friendships there’s business there’s careers all there’s so many good things about golf but I think again it’s all it’s one of those places that you wouldn’t go um into a wedding you know yelling and being a fool and doing you know with certain behaviors so certain things are allowed in certain places but sorry M for my rant I think no warranted well it should have happened a long time ago we we’ve been good to hold off on it to be honest I think one thing that also needs to be noted here is accessibility once again because again you’re talking about regular everyday golfers in this situation alone you golfing in the rain okay I’m golfing in the rain okay some courses don’t really allow carts out if it’s a smaller compact course you’re going to have to walk we’re not going to put the carts out such and such okay so we’re walking we’re walking in the rain my bag is getting soaked everything in my bag is getting soaked my clubs are getting soaked okay all right we finished the round now my clubs arrested are they usable again are they even physically usable again am I going to have to regrip clubs because the grips are done am I going to have to get new heads like these are the things that regular golfers have to go through we’re not sauce Gardener we can’t just throw money at the situation spend another 2K and get a whole new re uh you know brand new set brand new gear Brand New Bag go through the whole sh banga bang so that’s one that’s a that’s one thing to me nobody’s gonna be able to do that except for him and you know people like that okay you have a rain cover and stuff like that how good is that going to do in a torrential downpour you’re about to get two inches of rain in three four hours of play it’s just you know I’m all for being you know Progressive with the game of golf but there are just some things that definitely still need to have like a really traditional um you know and I I don’t even want to use deorum thank you because I don’t want to use the term gatekeeping gatekeeping is that’s that’s about as bad a term as influencer to me like bro I’m not gay keeping golf to anybody bro right like but sometimes I just the no I just think it’s the the social media aspect of it I I mean and just people getting burned because they showed an interest in the game now don’t get me wrong I think his interest is genuine yeah um you know he had the quote this week about he thinks that the game of golf is harder than football true I think anybody who was an athlete of other sports when they come out and start trying to play golf and you’re like dude I thought this was easier right you cuz you’re like it’s so many moving parts of your body to golf your legs your torso your shoulders your hands you know you you don’t want to do too much with your hand you know there’s so so many different movements and aspects to be good at golf we all know the percentages around those that break 70 80 um hell if you break 80 in in the US you’re in the top 2% of golfers out there which is a crazy number when you think about it so it’s an incredibly tough game and we you know again no matter how athletic you are certain skills that you have may not translate over into golf hell even baseball players you would think that’s like a natural transition there there still adjustments that they even have to make when they’re still again swinging a stick at a ball so I think to me it’s that’s the aspect that’s frustrating because I you look up and you’re going to be like who’s going to be the next one and there’s another in quote unquote influencer out there that at some point we will have to address and I don’t know when that point will come um you know and the proper kind of format it it almost to me when we were thinking about talking about it kind of in the background it it has a feel of like a Kendrick Lamar and Drake Type situation to me that’s how deep I think that is in terms of using your influence positively in the game of golf right we all have a I feel like we have a responsibility I don’t know I just maybe that’s too deep maybe that’s going too far I feel like there’s a responsibility that um like if I take my kiddo out there to represent the game in a way that is respectful um kind of teach her the lessons that I’ve been given since I’ve been playing the game um and then I think there’s just people out here trying to make a quick buck and I get it we all want to earn a living and and do this Monet you know where it can support us financially that of course is was is would be an awesome destination but I think there’s just true grifters out there that they’re willing and they always and it doesn’t matter what arena of life that we’re in there’s always going to be somebody will willing to sell their soul and look like a fool to for ENT Al to yeah just to make some coin and it doesn’t matter and they’re willing to compromise their integrity to do so and like I said a time will come where we will name names and we will call this out this probably is I mean I just think I think to think it out um a little bit more and how I want to address it but it’s something that I’m seeing more and more and it’s like dude you don’t even like golf you just out here uh clowning trying to make money and you don’t care if your group of people that you represent look like fools but that’s all I’m gonna say on that one for now right right shout out to the shout out to the ones that are being them their authentic selves and really actually growing the game and still going about it the right way because like I told you like we discussed earlier you get to a certain level of club or Country Club everybody follows the rules it don’t matter who you are shirt needs to be tucked in type deal actual traditional Polo you know the pants or the slacks if it is required you know getting the caddy paying the caddy tipping the caddy The Experience no hats in the clubhouse right sometimes the experience is how you’re treated and sometimes money is required to get the right experience it is what it is sometimes like go we’ll harp on it again I don’t know how many times we’re g we’re going to bring it up and I do not care but we when we went to the TPC cig grants facility and everything like that I felt like we were treated as if we were you know really good golfers no matter the situation it was at they asked if we were okay they made sure we were all right we sat on the patio they still had somebody frequently going out to you know converse with us and make sure that we were good that we didn’t need anything else they had an actual regular conversation nonwork related we had a really good caddy that um helped us out throughout the entire round and it was worth every dime it was worth every penny plus the tip that was involved as well I just think that sometimes it is worth it and you know when I get treated um to my family members course when we get to go out to Golf Club at Houston still one of the best experiences that I’ll ever have one of the purest courses that I’ll ever play and you know sometimes you get treated sometimes you gotta you gotta hike up some trash some cash I’m sorry but um I definitely think that there is etiquette to it and once you’re past that mun stage and you think your game is going a certain level you need to start acting that way you need to start elevating that etiquette and that game just the same so oh my God you can go down a deep deep dive with this well I I think I think in even when you look at it just let’s say you take the business aspect of um you know people go out to C join country clubs for opportunities that are available right you’re moving with uh shakers in in the community people who have have access to things that you otherwise may not just meet out at the grocery store but there you know a lot of deals get done um in in golf locker rooms and so you know if you’re if you’re looking at this as that opportunity there’s etiquette and there’s certain things that you wouldn’t do in a business setting you know kind of as I mentioned earlier or alluded to earlier that that kind of translate over to the golf course right these even at country clubs they’re not getting Crap Face drunk out there on the golf course they may have a couple of High noons rolling you know couple of seltzers have a couple beers but it is not 12pack time um because there is a certain level of respect that they have for the other people that are you know in that situation with them yeah um and so you handle yourself a little bit different but like I said man this is a big topic um and we’ll we’ll probably do something a little more scripted a little more organized but um just because the sauce Gardener thing was top of mind and very fresh and then catching a lot of heat I mean damn when I just put in his name Sauce Gardener and golf this week there were so many people trying to jump on the bandwagon that wrote articles about it um and this is not shade to him it’s just right now he’s a casualty of the moment um and the latest one to get that get that attention no again no shout out to him it feels very genuine what he’s trying to do AG um somebody probably still needs to take them under his their wing um which you see a lot of people reaching out swing tips Etc um but you know it’d be nice to see him out there playing with some folks I even saw one uh I think it was you know video of him and in the background was his cart damn near nether green again just little small things that you’re just like okay take care of your environment you know do the do the small things right um so we we’ll see how long this moment lasts and we’ll see who next up on the on the Griff train with golf and and out there with Instagram videos capitalize off of it but um we’re we’re going to keep doing our thing um I’m totally comfortable in my skin um and everything that we’ve said so far about this but yeah th% that’s it for the list man I stand on business right okay okay drewy all right my fault my fault what else she what else you got today man um I will say I’m looking forward to to getting back out and playing golf this week uh did not touch a golf club did not feel like touching a golf club all last week not even and I told Rod that when uh we were leaving out or when I was leaving out Saturday I I got all my golfing that I needed to it was all the emotions I wanted I played [ __ ] I played great I had some great moments I’ve had I had some moments where I felt like throwing clubs you know but I kept it all together um it took a week off really just kind of just took a break from even you know feeling like wanting to play golf so really looking forward to getting back out there and and seeing seeing what we can do again and making sure all the bells and whistles are still fastened and still along for the ride um definitely excited about the news we you expressed with me uh um throughout the week as well I think that’s something that you know when the time is right you know you can expand on yourself but uh definitely very excited about that um and hopefully you know we can align somewhere down the line very shortly and you know maybe be in the same situation or be very you know um be very I guess um approximate to each other so yeah okay cryptic man we we’ll hey man that’s not even what I meant bro I know I know I know I I know I know what you’re trying to say but without saying it but yeah I got you um yeah big things on the way you know it’s um we’re not slowing down we love this game of golf playing it talking about it all things about it it’s been a a really fun kind of second uh fora into sports you know Marcus still occasionally Hoops uh my legs after a ruptured Achilles and torn KN carage I will never pick up another basketball again i’ I met a guy this week actually that uh ruptured his Achilles playing pickle ball which pickle ball is taking people down left and right these days so golf is it for me this is the thing that keeps my C uh you know kind of competitive juices flowing the personal challenge of it all going against the course going against other guys and gals so I just yeah uh we’re going to keep keep rocking this thing out we have big stuff planned for the future um kind of to continue to evolve this channel as we go along hope you’re along for the ride with us um we we enjoying this thing it’s is fun uh just kind of getting together every single week and and and talking it up so Center Point give my boy some some GD power um Greg Abbott get your ass back in Texas China is not they’re going to be okay Texas need you bucko R roll on in Roll On In to Texas buddy um bearder Bros golf show this is Rod and I’m Marcus we’ll catch y’all next week uh talking the uh men’s open Adam TR should be a good one holler
