It’s time to update Ash’s irons!

So we take him through a full in depth iron custom fitting!

Testing out heads like the 2024 Callaway CB and MB, the Titleist T100, and Mizuno JPX 923 Tour.

Which head will come out on top??

Then we go to dialing in the shaft, testing out Project X, Dynamic Gold, Nippon Modus, KBS and Aerotech Steelfiber.

This way we can be absolutely sure we get the very best head and shaft combo!

welcome back to the channel and welcome back to another in-depth custom fitting video as we always do today we’ve got Ash back in the studio for an in-depth iron fit now Ash we’ve had a couple of ashes on the channel to be fair this is scratch handicap Ash I think he’s off one or two now as opposed to sort 16 18 handicap Ash we have had scratch handicap Ash on the channel before we did an in-depth two-part driver fitting video with him so if you’re interested in taking a look at that I’ll link that below today he’s back to look at irons not that his irons are terrible for him but he’s had them for years time for an update so we’re going to go through multiple heads multiple shouts really dial in those numbers as we love to do few things before we jump into the video number one we his specs [Music] Corner mate let have a few with this sounded all right yeah it was all right yeah good strike lad of spin load of spin it does seem to maintain the SP that they maintain the spin quite well I mean usually I think you you were never that much of a high spin player were you really no I think like you mentioned earlier you’re getting more down into it now seven down that’s probably just creating that little bit more spin yeah seven down is quite not is it a lot with an iron no not for someone who’s got decent speed like 97 mph swing speed straight off the bat with a 79 that’s that’s so yeah not really like K is like eight nine down I think on his iron I’m sure Bryson’s at least like8 nine down he really gets deep on it yeah um so no it’s not too bad it’s nice to be able to be with the elites yeah that’s probably the bad one yeah little bit low yeah skinny but that is your remiss really isn’t it just a bit of a push basically yeah I don’t usually like over really a hook over board on say no even though your path’s quite light inside you don’t shape it too much if anything it just holds out on the right yeah that was a pretty nice one lovely result yeah it’s it it’s not sounding in like absolutely clean though like strikes a little bit high in the face isn’t it yeah which I think probably be a little bit linked to the path in all honesty like the efficiency there 1.26 that’s quite low for a 7 IR I think when you stripe one the ball speed should be 130 easy probably low 130s yeah that one sounded quite nice yeah again it’s just that one that just hangs to the right a bit isn’t it yeah strike location was perfect on that one yeah ni better think that’s bit of little bit of a misread with there I think the face was not that open otherwise they g a long way right um it’s just bit low launch High spin which they kind of counteract each other yeah so 100 Peak 466 descent it’s fine if anything I wouldn’t mind maybe airing on getting that launch up a tiny bit dispersion is good and consistent though nothing going left to that line which again for a good player isn’t the worst thing in the world if you know you’re not going to overdraw it so that whole tup is just basically the same as yours like modus 12x just brand new MB yeah standard lie um I got a little bit more Loft on them those 35 so that’s more lofted than yours i’ be interested to see numbers wise for that but I think what we should do is just keep the Sha the same because you’ve you’ve played that sha for years you quite like that sha keep it the same for now let’s go through the different head see if anything clicks with any of the heads see what the numbers are like yeah and then test some shs out in the head we’ve chosen that strike sounded nice this sounds a little bit more hit do it yeah pure yeah numbers basically the same well a little bit was it two three yards yeah 16 1 half 74 not dissimilar at all to yours again nice that can’t be too dissimilar to the last one no 179 carry 14872 little bit more Terry but still good good efficiency interesting that the swing speed’s dropped H quite a bit which is interesting efficiency better 127 72 yeah it’s really not massively dissimilar is it which again I don’t think we’re going to see much difference between any of these heads really to be honest I I don’t want to see like massive jumps in distance anyway so yeah you know if we can keep it down to well near 178 carry yeah do you it feels any like different any better any worse than yours or pretty similar feels a little bit more head heavy than mine okay um I what you think about a look now you’ve had a just yeah just basically looks same as what I’m used to you just got used to it yeah just looks like a club again that’s nice look like it just climbed a little bit more that which I really don’t mind that all no and it’s actually maintaining the distance quite nicely yeah pretty consist I don’t want to see an iron that jumps so when that one felt pretty decent it’s still 180 pretty good dispersion and yeah like you say there’s only been one slight kind of was 173 and 169 slight Mish hits little bit drop off7 1777 yeah the rest very consistent [Music] yeah how does that look against yours you know it looks almost the same very similar very very similar it’s almost like somebody from Callaway has taken 201 2018 MB and made 2023 CB just stamp CB is that classic shape like isn’t it yeah it is not like massively convinced by the straight off the bat in terms of strike consistency how you’re actually getting on with it is not great no the first one I hit felt really nice yeah um second one was okay as well but we know really if you hit it clean like your ball speed should be in the high 120s like 100% 127 128 129 kind of just not quite not quite hitting this yeah I don’t know I like the look of it but it doesn’t seem to be we might try it with a couple other shs later maybe but it’s definitely just not clicking at all [Music] instantly sounded better yeah we’ll just we’ll fit this one nice this it’s really nice head shape as well yeah good little bit more classic the the top line is not too thick is it cuz it’s not a blade yeah and for how for what they look they are so forgiving yeah getting better I mean that sounded pretty Munch didn’t it lovely ball fly on that yeah 181 carry yeah yeah good nice like the numbers again it’s not Mill miles away from yours and we kind of knew it wasn’t going to be 16 launch 71 Back Spin 107 Peak 48 C it’s a really nice ball flight and strike locations all very similar same same area I know it’s a little bit up and down but yeah it’s better though not getting any like high at the face minute which is good if anything a little bit skinny like don’t mind that it’s going to come out a little low but still get decent distance it get down there yeah a bit bit pushy but the strike on this does sound so much better yeah it’s definitely got more of a thir hasn’t it well you just you’re just connecting with a b and like showing in the distances um back up to more where we should be in terms of that um so we had one slight Miss hit 178 181 175 is better ball speed is back up like 126 on average it’s just weird how you can have exactly the same shaft the head that gives is basically the same weight so the swing weight’s the same everything’s basically the same but the head obviously internal weight in might be slightly different there something that you’re reacting to better in that how do you think it feels compared to the quite I really like it actually yeah yeah I do yeah I mean comparing all of those straight away I mean it’s yours is pretty decent 15 and 73 the Apex MB 15673 almost the same like almost the same ball speed as well it’s pretty much same numbers really yeah yours was actually more consistent um and then yeah the Apex CB didn’t really get on with a little bit of a dropping bull speed spinning a little bit more down in carry then that T100 there bull speed back up around the 125 Mark which is where we should be again fairly similar launch to yours and the Apex MB spin again a tiny bit more but fairly similar and fairly similar results carry wise all dispersions fairly similar at the minute the Apex CB was just the worst I that’s the MB mb’s the orange isn’t it Apex MB was the worst [Music] interesting 9 2 three tour yeah the Munos it’s very nice looking shape head yeah I like satin kind of finish on it Top Line looks quite thin compared to the rest but I think that’s maybe just because it’s a satin finish where it meets like a semi Chrome yeah on the huzzle it’s quite an interesting looking back to it is all isn’t it yeah it’s nice I’ve always liked them to be fair i’ always lik it’s nice I I like this yeah that was that must have been flush a 184 carry here you go 1 through one and a half B speed there we go now we’re talking it’s better launch is a bit lower uh but still Peak height 9846 still decent I don’t love it launching that low all honesty you just getting all down into it taking off a lot of Loft mate is that good or bad huh is that good or bad I that’s a little bit too much in my opinion getting launched 13 and a half for a 7 iron that’s low sound it better what do you think um I really like this looks and feel compared to tight list it’s definitely out of the two yeah no I really quite really like the look of that Titus but I mean maybe this isn’t an iron that I would have come here asking to try yeah uh but just seeing on the table it looks caught my eye quite a bit yeah it’s a nice looking head that was that was right yeah I know I really like this yeah 180 surprising not a bit low spinning a bit more I think that’s more you getting a bit steeper on it there honest yeah yeah again numbers Wise It’s not a huge amount in them so 126 average bull speed so average bull speed is best of this 14 and a half launch over to the lowest launch which I don’t love but it is spinning a bit more so it’s probably offsetting that carry pretty much the same but the standard deviation on carry front to back’s actually the worst the left to right is probably one of the betters so it’s still not jumping out to be honest but like I say for me definitely the minute between the 100 and that for sure [Music] that one felt nice yeah that’s good yeah better strike height 14 and a half 73 lovely shot came out a little bit lower I felt like it should have gone really far left okay did well then path’s actually a bit better yeah like shapewise is fine tiny little draw finishing six yards left better yeah nice yeah I think it’s quite close between them really isn’t it yeah does definely makes it definitely makes it a bit of a tough decision so you gave the Muno an eight just in terms of kind of looks feels it’s a tough I I do I do feel like I prefer the look of the mauno yeah it’s a tough one yeah I am very torn between the two 174 94 so I know we hit more shots with the Muno this is the second time round hitting the t00 Carry’s within one yard Peak Height’s within one foot uh left to right is pretty much the same uh descent is maybe slightly better with the mauno but you’re talking less than half a degree spins like 100 revs in it launches 0.1 in it bul speed is 6 of a mph in it the performance difference is just nothing and that’s generally always what we’re going to see with these these sort of heads they’re all similar Loft similar design they’re never ever going to they’re never going to perform that different no because you know but I think genuinely you could play either the mauno or the tit list I don’t really think that one’s going to be way better than the other for you I really don’t both similar design similar Loft similar performance similar look probably similar feel if you were actually going to go out and play now would you take the Muno or the tight list what would you take I want to say tight list why I would probably take Muno okay Muno is let’s have a look at the Muno [Music] again instant that sounded nice I like that so lovely flight really nice and 180 carry I think that straight away yeah you know when I put it down perfect strike it just looks it doesn’t look very diff doesn’t look too dissimilar to mine yeah I much prefer the Top Line than the tight list okay it’s the more rounded the rounded toe I didn’t think I’d noticed it as much yeah but it’s got more of a rounded shapes whereas the Titus is more seems more of a point yep and I really like that definition with the the satin yeah yeah so if you ask me again which one are you taking Muna Muna you did say Muna before as well to be fair so which is really surprising because it was one that we wasn’t going to try well it was between kind of in the p7 MC which you could try but you don’t like to look don’t want to play it so no I wouldn’t it’s like you said it’s always worth a try yeah nice really good I mean I don’t even think hit the p7 MC if no I don’t I’ve made my mind because I don’t think you want I don’t you like the look of it and I don’t think you want to play them anyway so it’s that yeah 23 is the winner two3 to yeah it’s crazy I mean that’s really shocked [Music] me getting Groove low but OB it’s a little bit heavier than the modus but not a lot don’t feel any weight difference no I don’t no I don’t I’m quite like um subjective to weight is yeah you are to be fair so is interesting that’s a good one yeah see when you hit good one I mean again the numbers 147 and 75 I mean that’s pretty much exactly the same as the average we had with the modus wasn’t it yeah really probably one that first one was bad second one was also probably not great to be fair spinning a little bit more this one currently but that’s obviously just how you’re striking it more than anything that one sounded quite good yeah it was okay I think I I probably prefer I don’t know I think I prefer the um prefer the feel of the motus the modus yeah which is odd I think it’s you’ve been so used to it for years as well and it’s show you’ve got on with and yeah played quite well with you know if it ain’t broke don’t fix it sort of thing but no and like I said to you before when I got fitted for those it was down to the modus 12x and the C taper yeah um you know the project you know the 65 just didn’t work then yeah the other two did so again I just said to the the guy whatever works best is what I’ll go for it’s not about what I want it’s about what works best so yeah maybe the project x65 just is is not just doesn’t suit me anymore I don’t know yeah so 923 first time round 923 second time round and then Project X 65 can notice the ball like the ball drop off compared to the the first two sets with the modus highest spin just highest spin yeah so losing a bit of distance yeah I just I don’t know I don’t think I like it and if you prefer the fer modus as well like and we’re hitting it better and the numbers are better then [Music] yeah sounded better yeah better swing really good yeah 18 carry yeah nice yeah good back to your old 15 launch 73 Back Spin okay nothing changing there and I think again it’s so similar to these heads like if you put all these heads on a robot they’re not going to perform any different you put all these shards on a robot they’re not going to perform any different I mean it’s just what clicks best what can we find strike with best what’s the most consistent yeah sounded right yeah know it’s all right isn’t it 7 seven nice seems like be bit more Peak height or so it looks in here anyway what’s the peak height on that pretty similar again 14 launch 75 Back Spin peaking around probably 100 97 yeah but again spion left to right is really good but the first two were just rubish strikes all honestly yeah but if have anything in this whole fitting I’m not too I don’t care about distance no it’s dispersion yeah yeah you know I don’t want to see I don’t want to see the jumpers we’re holding it just down that right side little draw like not quite quite not massively crossing the line it’s perfect no no I definitely I instantly prefer this to the Project X yeah I do I do I I wouldn’t I I probably wouldn’t gain the Project X anymore no uh getting back to your more normal sort of numbers a little bit more spin on that one but tiny bit toey so it’s got a bit more spin but it’s actually what it carry 176 it’s it’s just decent efficiency 127 ball speed that’s a fair Fairly good average for you on you hit it well yeah don’t hate it know I quite like it actually yeah yeah I feel like dispersion is probably yeah strike consistency is better as well it’s a little bit toe but you always did tend to have a little bit of a tow strike pan didn’t you yeah you’ll never see me like heel strike and I yeah no you’re definitely right on um dispersion is really good very actually similar to your ey was just holding down that right side not crossing the line quite tight left to right which is great how many is that four five shots there isn’t it yeah five shots M furis left we got 12 right to two right so that’s 10 down six six yards on the dispersion for mine then yeah yeah slightly better yeah uh again numbers fairly similar I mean really against the modus again so ball speed I mean we 126 first set 129 Second this is 127 so right in between yeah again launching spin I if anything’s launching slightly lower a fraction and Spins fairly similar but not gaining anymore I mean it’s almost that second set with the modus that was literally two shots that’s probably an unfair data set the more you probably the worst I would have got so it’s probably unfair but as an average data set that’s pretty solid really yeah May were just like two really good shots off the bat as well they were yeah would you say feel wise again if you had to rate that I would be choosing this over Motors yeah feel yeah okay interesting [Music] got little bit of a different Pro SIM basically same weight as the ctap 130 yeah um but not quite as absolute Bor is it not so the CT is C is pretty pretty bardy profile yeah again stepler similar to Project X just plays pretty pretty stout throughout and they’re all they’re all pretty much designated as like low launch low spin kind of stiff tip profiles but yeah C taper is quite boardy yep not bad at all that was me now you huming that weird noise yeah it’s me yeah just yeah I I’ll be honest I prefer to see tap or straway yeah yeah I don’t know why that kind of what my hum was a bit like it doesn’t I don’t know didn’t look quite as comfortable swinging it straight away I haven’t Struck One yeah it just doesn’t look I don’t know not clicking no I think it’s a fairly easy one just I don’t want to keep trying [Music] okay yeah worth giving it a go in it modus 13x definitely a different profile to the 120 obviously the weight’s a big difference but just the way it plays very very Stout in the handle section and a little bit of a softer tip section and in the 120 again wouldn’t realistically imagine to see a huge difference in launch and spin but that was a bit skinny was it so that one launched St there just a lot back spin on that one actually see that one didn’t feel like it was massively skinny not it was it was one more got more a bit low aren’t we yeah it definitely feels a little bit heavier yeah than everything else I think that’s just the rigidity of the handle section down the midsection it’s not actually heavier but it’s very very Stout in that in the hand section yeah so is this kind of um similar to the SE taper if anything probably a little bit stouter in the handle but softer in the tip okay but overall a lot lot more people will feel the handle into M midsection more because obviously that’s under your hands yeah I just I know I don’t like it I feel of it no okay yeah okay let’s jump back and see deep to se taper then just make sure yeah I don’t know if I’m a fan of the graphite shafts I’m assuming they play quite light they feel light no well not necessarily it depends which one obviously there such a vast spectrum of graphite shafts now um again steel F or you actually played steel F i’ got still f a three yeah yeah can you get that in a 125x which is pretty heavy and stout is it give it go if you want want to give it go just to Chuck something a bit different in there yeah I mean I really like see [Music] taper just to throw something in there a little bit different still fiber 125x may it feels so heavy does it so heavy I feel like yeah whether it’s just because I’ve a lot of shots or what but that feels I think like mmts and they felt similar like even I I played 105s but it’s almost like a dense feeling throughout the Sha it feels it feels like one whole piece of like lead pipe yeah it just it feels so heavy I’m just sat there thinking I don’t even know if I want to swing this s Jammer it does again like the actual weight of it isn’t crazy heavy obviously but yeah it’s just the way that there 125 in it cut down probably a bit less but it’s yeah still just dense like that sounded nice though good one then in the all yeah we’ll take that that one mate that felt super cool as well felt nice yeah standard slight tow strike but n’s beenin good again not too dissimilar to the rest obviously sounding good I quite like this yeah so yeah again good strike good numbers don’t mind that at all nice ball flight Good carry Good Pete good descend like really nice yeah so I mean if we were to compare that se taper and the SE the last one there I mean look at that I mean you probably Edge it to the steel fiber a little bit more ball speed launch is the same exactly the same spins exactly the same uh carries exactly the same all standard deviations pretty much exactly the same the dispersion is almost exactly the same like there is just literally I mean again apart from that little bit more bll speed so statistically you could probably Edge it to Steel fiber but I how close is that but then you know same sort of thing like I said to you earlier they’re they’re all great right all the numbers are being the same but my dispersion on mine is worse so you know it really that’s the important thing about my FIT I want dispersion yeah of course not interested in it you know distance so I mean it’s it’s still not I wouldn’t say like oh my God way better it is slightly better and it’s slightly straighter which is also great an improvement yeah it’s an improvement yeah again like we said earlier for you it’s not so much that you are really trying to find massive performance games Shan’s are bloody old and it’s time for so see we can find something slightly [Music] better see if we can decide steel fiber or SE taper a little bit of turn on that one but it’s not bad it didn’t sound flush though no he’s a little bit heavy what do you think instantly jumping back into that feel wise compared to Steel fiber it definitely feels a little bit like on the overall weight yeah the overall I know they’re exactly the same that’s is probably a little bit heavier 130 but they’re similar yeah I mean the still fiber felt like a real board yeah I just you know when you just wiggle it around you know like you’d actually want to play that though feeling that not bothered cuz like that one definitely felt like the strike was much more like crunched that’s what you want yeah da I wouldn’t have a concern about you playing something that is I mean it’s not that it’s any heavier because it’s not really yeah it’ll feel maybe a bit heavier feel a bit denser but you’re strong enough to handle that yeah sounded lovely that do you know what I feel I feel like if I was having like a bit of a you know when sometimes you play golf you’re a bit tired you’re yeah I feel like I would probably prefer hitting that on that sort of day yeah but you know that just felt crunched every time yeah even on like a bit of an offc Center strike or you know whatnot it still felt like it was like hit yeah it’s not bad jumped a little bit didn’t it yeah I mean 190 that one there was probably one of the worst sets you’ve hit for a while which again it it just comes down to Bull speed for you really yeah because if we were to add that set in now compare it to the first set now we’re slightly down on bull speed launch spin spin there’s just like 7474 like it’s just the spins are no different even the launch 15 14 714 815 for7 launched on average tiny bit higher 172 carry and even again standard deviation was actually pretty good so even though it looked maybe like not your best set overall the average numbers pretty good spion was a little bit worse though on that again probably you getting a little bit tired but it’s so close between I actually probably preferred just the sound it wouldn’t be coming across on the microphone it’s just the sound of how you were connecting with the steel fiber was flush like said felt crunch so it just seemed like that was just a little bit crisper yeah definitely it’s what I felt straight away take a couple more with [Music] that back into that does it feel getting straight in the hands heavier just straight away overall lead PSE type see what it does it does it just feels really heavy yeah but I quite like it looks comfortable to swing yeah really nice out although you say it feels very heavy and sort of dense feeding and all those kind of things like it just it looks like it kind of clicks quite well with you I know obviously I’ve just hit one left but what it makes me feel is I it doesn’t feel like I can snatch it from the top cuz I’m quite a a handle dragger should we say you I really pull hard yeah with it being a bit heavier it feels like it almost makes me feel like a little bit lazy yeah that sounds really weird to say but no yeah I get you know it feels like I can really feel it nicely at the top and then just release which again I think for you is a really good thing the quicker you get snatch you get the more you pull yeah the steeper you get the more that stri moves low in the face you know something that’s a little bit lighter and I can really snatch from the top yeah that’s when I kind of feel like I’m going to pull it left yeah yeah sounded nice it’s holding down the right but I like that and that’s the um that’s a strike I didn’t feel like I was getting with all the others the sound yeah I agree completely agree I I like I like the modus um sorry the C taper yeah I feel like with this when it’s hit the sound’s completely different it’s crisper yeah and that’s that’s it just crisper again probably won’t come across on the mics but you can just hear it yeah nice that was hit yeah nice nice giving it a bit more juice but he still control it three five ball speed yeah nice again launcher spin doesn’t really change that much uh bull speed just jumps obviously you’re swinging much harder but that’s great but the fact that you can go at that more and you still it two really good shots yeah great get launch a little bit lower that one spin spun a little bit higher don’t mind that ball speed good I mean but the the tightness of the standard deviation is just ridiculous like 146 on spin two yards on front to back ball speed up to 127 launch and Spins almost irrelevant really to a certain degree I don’t hate that it launches a little bit low would mind it being a bit higher but just the strike and the consistency outs that completely yeah spinning a bit more though isn’t it so yeah because on the peak height it’s probably going to be fairly similar imagine 95 Peak 46 descent which is pretty much the same as the others those last two that you went at a little bit more 109 and 117 Peak so that that gets up to an average of 100t and 47% which is actually where I’d love to see you on average little little bit more launch but again weirdly you’ve just been getting a bit steeper recently so if you go to kind of back to where you should be which you probably will at some point soon less steep that will get to launch up a little bit more anyway but yeah even without that the amount of spin you generate and the speed you have you got plenty of stopping power got no issues with that at all it’s pretty decent little combo in it very good mate and even like we said L angle on that is slightly flatter than everything else anyway 61.5 so I think we’d leave it at standard for now and then we’ probably just do a full gaping session with you and check all the L angles throughout all of the to I think you get a little B more toe up in the short so we could probably adjust them all the way through just to get them where we want individually yeah it looks really good I I like that that looks better swing it’s more yeah I mean in time that is what I will try and put in as a a normal Swing noral Swing yeah um so it’s nice to see that they still work yeah really I like that I’m really happy yeah it’s good you know since I have the driver fit in the driver was the only club that I’ve fitted in the bag yeah and it’s been a game changer so I’m really happy I’m pleased ni mate I’m
