Talking golf equipment repairs, Fittings and Reviews
[Music] welcome back from the 4th of July it didn’t even take one second and you were there you w on one second welcome back to 4th of July after 4th of July we’re going to just talk about some fitting results we’re going to Freestyle this one all day I got Mrs mcgoff in here we took a bet on when I would hear her talking and it didn’t even take the start of the show let’s get [Music] started alrighty welcome back to the golf shop this is where we talk about Golf Club repairs Golf Club reviews golf club fittings and what’s in my drawers why because it’s what’s in my drawers in the golf shop because old Club makers and Club Fitters are tremendous packrats and I’m no different so we’re going to talk about some Club fitting results today uh after we do the uh our typical what we did in the shop kind of stuff so number one it sounds like we had a new winner I didn’t watch the first bit of it because I was golfing for a change went out with my buddy Bob and we were the first group out and and I got to tell you this first group out thing has got a that’s a thing I like it it’s we didn’t see a soul until hole number nine or actually whole yeah about whole nine and that’s because we were coming back around and it was like golfing in your backyard there wasn’t a soul around it was quiet you heard Ducks quacking and you know all kinds of stuff and it was just a real real peaceful real peaceful round Sean 8 two only had one three putt but had one one putt so we’re even stepen uh came back around and you know what I realized that you don’t have to kill the ball to hit it real far imagine that I go through this every year and uh but the putting was on I got the chipping was on which was helping me the driver came back and I’m still using that it’s a Wilson TI with that Shogun uh Green 72 xflex and why there’s no reason for me to use the xlex but it’s going straight and a lot of cases it goes far in this case in this first one I think I uh I hit a couple errant shots and I thought oh geeez I’m out of bounds and found the and found the ball and and so I can say that we didn’t hit any out of bounds on this one so it’s keeping me in play if nothing else so that that was pretty cool alrighty Miss mcolf uh Mrs McGolf took some pictures of some golf clubs we built we actually had a long weekend with my other my other business or my other job we had a couple of days off so we are caught up until all the other parts from the next round of builds and repairs decide to show up so uh here’s the first here’s our first showing a couple of uh couple of iron sets that we put together and it looks to be a couple Muno sets one with steel one with graphite and we also put in a uh a graphite shafted wedge this is Matt Matt Matt or Matt that doing this this is his wife set she’s a left-hander and that’s the Wilson uh launch pads probably the last set ever and we got the KBS Max in there and some nice cp2 grips there’s another look at it she’s getting really good with this Fanning out of the golf clubs and take good pictures the uh next set we got was a lot had to do with Callaway this is for a uh this is for the lady right the lady fit y we fit this lady from I believe it was Nevada and uh and she she was visiting here and got fit so we ended up with the AI smoke Max in the light a couple of hybrids and a Makefield putter the Makefield putter was a real game Cher for it uh in the way that it went into the head and the sight line was just a is a pretty amazing little setup for now this is something I want to talk to you guys about this I never get I really don’t give a lot of credit to Lady shafts because in a lot of cases the the oems don’t give it a lot of credit either well this one is a little different so you see we went with the AI smoke regulars and you would think well and then she was an older lady and you would think oh I need the hls well we tried the hls the hls were easily 15 yards shorter and uh she had a good swing and these things were just like just exactly the way she liked them anyway as far as the shaft goes um it’s the Mitsubishi ELO e l d IO and it’s a obviously it’s a white shaft and it’s got some light blue graphics on it and I’m telling you what it’s a really nice very stable ladies Club it tends to work very very well worked very very well for her to the point it worked out very well uh for two more fittings that we did and I broke it out and man oh man the kick on this thing is just right for that slower swing speed get the ball up in the air when I mean slower I’m talking about 60 70 M hour type stuff so not too bad not too bad at all all right uh several several repairs and Matt if you’re listening uh we have Sally’s remaining clubs all they need is cut and gripped and we’ll be done with them uh got some other good news this weekend uh when we were getting through I got an email and we we got to 66,500 views on the 7th so the the Channel’s working that’s a lot of views right that’s a lot of views actually we look at again yep 6,500,000 views that’s a lot of views so not too bad I appreciate that thank thank you for everybody and again if you would like and subscribe hit that Bell down below hit the like button today tell your friends let’s get this thing rolling out a little bit more uh hopefully you like the last video that we put out that was actually quite interesting it was a lot of fun alrighty Fourth of July we had four couple of Fourth of July things going on we had uh my sister came out a little early that was before the 4th of July and we did I think I told you we did burins and uh or did we Burnin on the brisket and some and some uh beans that turned out really really good and uh this week we started off with the Fourth of July meal we had two going on and so we celebrated with T-bone steaks and those are pretty good siiz T-bone steaks each one of them was a uh was a meal in itself and that was with my buddy Bob and his wife Penny uh they came down and and uh we we shared some food and it was a good time got to talk and it was uh it was just a really good time and our on the back porch with the fans going as you can see and uh it makes things a lot cooler out there right now Mrs mcul is sitting next to me because the outside smells like cow poop the uh I I think they’re either fertilizing the local Farm that’s across the street or uh they just rolled some hay and uh must have got into something over there but the whole neighborhood just is a glorified pig trough all righty so the other one is a little bit this last weekend that we had uh not the fourth that was the fourth meal this weekend’s meal uh is a little bit more picturesque at least and we had Bob and Penny over again we had this so if you get to see that a couple of racks of ribs the I cooked up some chickens uh that’ll be for later what I tend to do is I chop that up and we make a barbecued chicken salad out of it or we’ll cut it slice or we’ll slice it the the the big way the big way right up in here the big way like that and uh make a sandwich out of it and then there’s our beans left over what we had on beans so we we ate pretty good this week we ate pretty good this week so that wasn’t too bad now last but not least I know I told you guys this is on the uh my bourbon side of it but this is I got a Bourbon Barrel got that one that’s a Bourbon Barrel where’ I get it I got it from Augusta which is Buckner’s tin I got today for all those you know not bad we did a tour and they had what’s called a river proof and they had three different barrels to choose from and right now I’m sipping on the one that I like the least and it’s turning out like I might like it the most so that was pretty good so anyway condition the barrel looks like that on the outside not not as clear as that is but that’s what it looks like and so we sand it down make it all look real nice and then we cut out the door now as you can see it looks a little bit better I painted the bands and know I didn’t over spray that’s the leak I decided not to make it look brand new I wanted it to look like a a clean leaking Barrel like you would see in the Rick house if I could have left the thing looking natural this is that’s as satiny as I could get it and that’s what I wanted okay then we put a door on it that’s a that’s one heck of a picture for that door there that’s better we got the door on it with the hinges right there and then last but not least we got the shelves in it and Mrs McGolf helped me with the shelves the Bottom’s got a lazy Susan in it so it spins around and I made the shelves uh I sanded them smooth to an extent and then when I when I sealed them I left it rough so that the things wouldn’t slide around so now I’m waiting on a hasp and we’re going to put some lights in it and we’re done that was a practice round the door on this thing is jacked up beyond all concern but it was a fun project and I know better what to do going forward so the next couple of projects that I do will uh be a little bit better and for those of you guys can’t oh look at this thing it it started doing it it is alive I don’t know how I I go like this let’s go here there now stop there we go gotcha now I know how to stop you anyway so I got my my golf B my golf drinking t-shirt or golf shirt on so that’s what this looks like we can thank Callaway for that one they have some pretty neat stuff okay so we’re talking about we’re going back to fittings right and fitting stuff so I put together a bit of a uh a quick video for you this one’s a little longer it’s about a 5 10 minute job between five 10 and about the different fittings and what we went through and then we’ll talk about some swings and stuff like that so let’s get started we’re starting recording but the music is still in the background but that doesn’t matter too much at all look at that went up to the top all right here we are talking about fitting results we’re going to be talking about uh three different people that we fit and three different sections that we fit in first one will be our buddy Jared so if we look at uh what Jared did he ended up with the Muno Pro uh two up with the modus 105 now if we look at a pretty just a regular number uh what are we really looking for here right actually it was a 950 let’s start the thing over okay here we are talking about fitting results and what we’re talking about is Jared came in for an iron fitting he was here many many many many many years ago we did some woods and he came back for an iron so let’s talk about just pure numbers first and then we get into the fitting part of it so what we have is the what what rain Supreme right here at the top was the modus I’m sorry the Muno Pro uh we had it bent two up using a 105r 10 169 carry 179 total distance hit it with a 134 smash Factor in 5800 RPM now he also had a a 39 angle of attack a negative going into it which is really not that bad hitting us straight now these are average keep in mind then we gave him the 950 in that same one he carried it a couple year couple yards longer end up the same spot normally because the spin is more and it is by 70 hole RPM I don’t know necessarily know if that’s really the case but he hit a t just a tick better and and Swinging just a slight bit slower so he hit it up in the air a little bit better with a slight less negative angle of attack so we got he hit a little bit better I gave him a smoke seven iron and he threw it out there in same fashion as the other ones uh but he he didn’t quite hit it as well so he didn’t get into that the Wilson Dino forged again in the same category as the smoke but not as good started going downhill from there so the real question is why and let’s go back to how we grew group it when we’re really talking about that that’s important so when I do these I do them with I I test for length right I test for length first and if we look at this so this is the 37 nice tight pattern down the middle 37 and a half gets wild 38 or 36 and A2 because we’re going the other way because 37 and A2 was so bad that going longer wasn’t going to do him any good so we went shorter and it wasn’t so we know 37 is the way we go so we now are playing with a half of an inch shorter Golf Club all right so then we go and we go and here’s the mauno pro right off the bat we hit him with a 95 G shaft and he’s got two right down the middle and he lets one get away from him the dino power Forge right here the Neo is pretty tight it’s just a little short the elevates pretty tight but it’s a lot of fade going on and that was what he was fighting because he had a deep to the inside takeaway which we had to work on now we do do that we’ll talk let’s talk about the takeaway when we get done with this and we’ll talk about that into the fitting then we got the mostus did not do very well then all of a sudden game 105 is a little bit straighter uh but you know into there still fading not quite as straight but it just became a feel issue at that point and we started talking about sand wedges and these were different shots as you can tell he was right online and that was with the wedge that we picked for him all right that was that one let’s go to another 106 he just started getting better as he started getting more confidence so we put him in the Callaway smoke Max D because uh he was always talking about how things were fading now once we started talking about how to hold the golf club a little bit differently he literally didn’t see the right hand side of the Fairway except on just a select few occasions so that’s impressive but we got him out 262 28 2 that’s definitely ideal winner but the lateral was massive right so we got to figure that one out and he hit it okay this is not as good as I want to Mana that caliber to hit it more like this so the Wilson TI the vrtx blue and a 70x ended up working out pretty decent as far as hitting it well but he was also a couple mile hours slower now if we throw that on there and add five yards it’s nowhere close to that so we got to figure out whether we like that or not now what happened here was this is not a good representation and I’ll show you here in a minute then we get into the smoke Max and we’re out to 270 we look like this T like this Wilson is not doing very good the reason being is I had selected the wrong dog on the wrong dog on place to go do this so the last two kind of shots there was 250 270 and 264 286 with the with the actual TI and what we’re talking about here with the vrtx 70 blue okay that’s what was happening uh so that that’s where we went out and that’s where we ended up with now I did actually now the blue shaft and the vrtx is the low low launching type shaft and it went out there I gave him the green shaft in the shun he hit the crud out of it but price for comparison the 70 blue in the vrtx worked a lot better so what am I trying to show you is that when I’m a bonee head and I don’t get it so these last two shots right here are actually driver shots versus uh hybrid 4 irons so if we look at here we go back around there’s his driver and all a sudden we got tighter with the smoke we got tighter with the Denali X so the 70x so the 70 and the xflex ended up working out because he was a heavy accelerator at the bottom of the swing and then if you see this one with the blue it gets even tighter still and what you’re seeing is uh two good ones and then that one was pretty poor and then we had two more up here so he was super duper tight and pretty dog on long in the 290 range with it and that’s what we settled on all right let’s go see another one tall right he is very very tall and but but his arms were he wasn’t super tall it’s like a 64 65 guy but his arms were a little shorter than what you would think a guy that tall would be so we ended up going an inch over standard and what we have here is this is the mauno hybrid that he liked hitting and if you look it really comes down to uh he hit that one that was pretty good then we got him in the mauno Pro with a 105 and the S Flex carrying this bad boy out 203 yards going at 215 hitting it very very well when you’re getting in this number with an iron that that’s you know that’s a pretty damn good number uh that’s low handicap Elite kind of stuff right there so that’s what we ended up with going with him now why is that again we look at our groupings we go here at 38 there’s 39 that was not very good here we go so inch over this is what we’re seeing with that with a 245 he he missed it it because he needed a little extra Soul because he T his Miss was a t a tad behind the golf club or golf ball and that made him hit fat and when you have a 245 that has a narrow soul and you’re not a picker that can be problematic we went in the zx5 a little bit light a little bit longer but he was more of a heel hitter and those don’t zx5 really don’t like that the dino Forge really straightened up a lot but it was a little bit short then we got our sandwi and we’re right back into the hybrid now I left a whole bunch of hybrids because he hit a whole bunch of them if I was to take this out this number would would be ridiculously long all right so if we go back and we look at some numbers again din Forge carried out did pretty good just not as good as 245s although I think the pattern in this particular instance would have been better because you don’t want to result you just really don’t want to rely on 20 plus yards of run and this is where we’re seeing the the spin rate com in here this is a proper amount of spin so you’re about 10 yards behind this one that’s 15 yards that’s that’s an acceptable number considering how well he was hitting it so what am I trying to show you well when we get back into these different things if you look at here we go just for this golfer now that’s not a bad little number but when you go back into something like this and you’re seeing it and you see two zipping right down the middle and his Miss is a little bit of a fade which really isn’t that bad it’s really hard to accept it’s really hard to pass I mean it’s really hard to pass so let’s talk about the differences in their swings and the reasons why we picked what we picked all right so now we’re back and we’re doing that sorry for that uh exclamation point I threw at in the beginning I get mad at myself and that was actually cut out in the original one so I’m going to blame Adobe on that one for being a not listening to my instructions how shall how shall we say that right there so so that’s where we’re at okay so as far as the fitting stuff went uh three different three different swings right the three different swings the the tall our tall golfer actually had a nice fluid swing he got through it uh but in a lot of cases when you get taller you can tend to get vertical when you tend to get vertical you tend to get to the ground and so you don’t like thin sold clubs and and so that’s what we got to now his swing was more of a a fluid swing that came through and came but it was quick I mean it was very fast where the uh we had another one that was he was a shorter fella and what happened was he and gets plays a lot of sim golf so you got to control it but his issue was he had this massive inside takeaway and we could hit nothing but a push so what happens is is that your your your swing path if this was your swing path going you know straight up and down to the Target he was like this going that way he was going like this and just hitting it out there and and and he was making very very good contact well the real problem with that is is is that you get this shoulder and it’s this sweeping motion that comes through so once you get from a thing like this to a path that goes like that then it that sweeping motion becomes a digger move and you don’t like it and it’s because you hit behind the ball and it doesn’t feel good so you have to kind of I don’t not tilt forward per se however you have to readjust your timing and once the timing got readjusted he was hitting a lot of straight balls and and it was getting out there in the same fashion as before so the control was there and then the first one that I showed you was an ex- baseballer which really did not have a baseball swing is the first baseballer I’ve ever come across that didn’t have some sort of baseball characteristic that came through it and uh it was just fun to watch him hit once and and he’s you know he’s not an avid golfer so what you have to do is uh golfers go in and out of group grooves right and and so what he’d do is he’d hit two balls and it’d be all over the map all of a sudden he’d find his Groove and he’d hit three or four balls and he’d be really good and then he fall out of the groove again and so we had to kind of pick and choose what we were doing but what I would do before we’d take out some of those uh the shots that he would either dump the back shoulder or just hit from the hit in the uh in the heel of the club that we would uh we discuss what the the miss would be so he doesn’t think that he hits those things all the time and that’s the reality of the fitting right you got to show the bad ones and the good ones but show the and when it’s all said and done you got to show the the the potential that’s there to be had now if we have something that goes ex just an outlier that’s extraordinarily long I I take those out as well because those are just as much of outliers good as the other ones are bad okay so you get a more representation of what’s going on and we talk about what makes those makes those shots those good shots and what makes those bad shots those bad shots so that you can calibrate really quick forget it and move on and that’s the whole intent of this okay so that’s where we’re at So Different Strokes and these guys were you know they weren’t all the same per se we had uh like a a short medium and tall and the the medium had the faster swing speed the taller fella had a really nice swing speed and the shorter fella actually was wasn’t doing too bad himself he was swinging just a hair faster than I was and could still punch it out there if he wanted to he was just uh playing with some ill fitted equipment and that was causing some swing attributes that were poor and once we got out of that you know it was a matter of figuring out that you could manipulate the club in order to do some better golf all right so there we go we got all that now we’re on to let’s go to the comments to the top Mr Matt’s on Top Shot of 72 in this round Sally loves the new clubs glad that she likes them what does everyone do to get ready for a round of golf I like to skip the range and hit some chips and putts well for me I like stretching uh you know I got kind of an advantage being in here if I have enough time I’ll I’ll hit maybe five or 10 golf balls Maybe and just enough to get a a semblance of a Tempo going I’m not trying to kill the ball I’m just trying to make a uh all the what all the pieces all the moving Parts work together we can pick up speed when we’re golfing and then when I get to the golf course I do windmills with golf clubs in both this direction and this direction and then uh toe touches in or in order to stretch out the back and then the side lunges to stretch out the inner inside of your leg legs and then I take three or four good Cuts with the uh with two wedges to get tempos going and then it’s Off to the Races and uh normally that just helps me out now my buddy Bob loves to just bash golf balls on the Range in order to work whatever out but he golfs a lot I on the other hand do not and so he gets his rhythm by hitting more balls case in point uh I tend to I tend to get him on the front and he tends to decimate me on the back so he likes doing that kind of stuff so that and that’s what happens you know he just plays way better and I just don’t and and but if I was to hit balls like we went out one time so oh let’s go warm up on the Range and I warm up the range and totally lost my swing because I was trying to fix stuff that I didn’t need to be fixing so I just I just go up there and I pitch and Chip and that’s all I do just like Matt was talking Michael Moody says hi Jim and Robin ah Michael’s got one question for you is there a side for shafts or is it only the adapter at the end because I wanted to try my friend shaft on his driver but his is right and I’m a lefty and we have the same driver ah okay so if you were to so Michael if you were to stay in the neutral position on on regardless of who it is and whose maker it is it will work either way typically and I’ll say typically when you like if you wanted to put in a right-handed shaft in your left-handed Club after the neutral setting all the settings are opposite so if you went to minus one it would be plus one if you went to the draw it would be to the open and that kind of stuff but as a stable sh as a as a neutral you could do it no problem John Cherry greetings d w Jim and Ron fellow golfers nice round to Matt it was I do the same thing putting and chipping well you know it’s a proven fact that inside you know Dave pels did it he’s the number cruncher and inside 150 yards is where the most golf is played and if you can get laser like focused on there by golly the game the game feels easier to be sure and even just like we do you know when when my driver swing goes away and Bob tells me all the time that I shouldn’t hit it anyhow because the I’ve got a three hybrid a 19 degree that I’ve got cranked down one that when I’m swinging that one it goes as far as anybody else’s driver so you know why not and it goes straight I did those a couple of times playing at Crown Hill uh Sunday so because it was a shorter Par Four and it and it and it feels good to hit like that right it gets you in a good rhythm Emanuel there he is how was that Senior tournament that looked like a lot of fun hello Jim and Robin and the rest of MC golf gurus here and great round to Matt it was a great round alrighty here we go hey Jim and Robin got out today with the Buddy shot at 83 David Jones that’s awesome man way to go we like to see a lot of these guys alrighty here we go Alon Alon sorry when good evening Jim when should you go get refitted for clubs you play two years you play two years every year or does age matter age does matter alron so in reality what I you know the funny part is we always say 50 is the new 40 and then 60 is the new 50 as we get old old because well getting old sucks that’s not very I mean that’s just what it is and and eventually if we’re not working out speed swing is or sweet yeah our swing speed is going to go down and and so or if you if you’ve had some sort of massive medical procedure and we’ll talk I’ll give you a few examples anyway the oh what when would you go and get refit a couple of a couple of time times when I would think about getting refit uh if you were like if you got fit at 16 and you’re like 20 20 or 22 I would get refit because you’ve gotten stronger bigger taller all that kind of stuff if you get into your 20s and you go even you know even through your 40s unless you’ve had some sort of serious medical issue hit you to slow you down or or the other side can go you’ve gotten bit by the golf bug and you’re practicing regularly and you’re and your game has improved dramatically then in either case I would get refit now when you start getting into your 50s things start itching and getting tight and things like that and if you haven’t been fit since your early 20s about a 50 would be a good place to go all right then maybe about 65 is after that and now these are all just I’m giving you Age based what I’m seeing a lot of people here and I do have an older community uh of when it can happen now I’ve got a guy that’s he was 84 years old and I’m telling you he could beat the pants off of me any day he still hits the ball out past 200 and His short game is laser like so each person’s a little different now that being said um there are times when equipment improves so much that it’s worth to go and what I tell people is there’s drivers irons and Putters all right in the driver I would say for just about anybody about every four years there is something that’s going to change in a driver that could help you golf better now not every year but about every four years okay because each year they have a technological Improvement but it may not be the Improvement that you need okay I’ve had guys come in here with you know with older callaways that I just couldn’t knock out of the bag because they just hit him so well and then a technological leap happens and now I’m beating it and it’s just one of those things you get comfortable with now with irons between four and six years right between four and six years uh in the four and six years is all about the the four and six years is all about um again technological advances and the technological advances on this one could be you know we’ve had the the out the outcoming the outcoming of the hollow body iron the hollow hollow body iron has been a real Boon for the golf industry in that it’s got that cool look in the bag like the blade that everybody likes but it’s more of a players distance club and a lot of people can gravitate towards that the folks that are coming up in their golf game and the folks that are playing that were playing well and coming down in their golf game in swing speed not necessarily score so you can do something like that and then in the putters and the putters are in that six-year Cate maybe four every once in a while there’s something that comes out in the in a component form and what I mean by that is uh when super stroke grips came out man those are game changers right they’ve been out for a generation now uh the next one is and here is of recently low torque putter shafts low torque putter shafts have been a game changer for a lot of people I’m here to tell you it really does work and then what we’re seeing is how the and then what it gets down to is Cosmetics balance and uh balance and the way that it looks some people like a long uh sight line some people don’t some people like all that gobbly g on the outside of a mallet putter some people don’t um and the one of the biggest game changers in the head was uh from Sha tulan and a zenneck and allowing those mallets the mallets to tow dangle so that a person that was straight back straight forward but would open and close all of a sudden had this really comfortable club that they could use and it would and it would just make putts so that’s where we would go hopefully that helped all right for you Matt every round is just a swing with my Tempo and feeling go putting and chipping that’s where it counts 250 year Drive same as a two foot putt there you go hey look at Who’s Back Helen B look at that long time no chat no doubt buddy hopefully things are going well for you Robins talk glad you’re he the woods will be shut in a couple days look at that hello hello hello Matt says nice Sally actually said she wants to practice now uhoh you got a golfing partner now buddy look at that now you have to find somebody take the kids to soccer and [Laughter] volleyball yeah Willard’s back how you doing Jim and rum’s been a while we got some returners yeah definitely right here Jim heard Robin before I heard you yeah see K AG green with me he’s can’t agreen with me M alrighty Stephen what do you say buddy being the first group out is awesome my group is the first out most Saturdays and Sundays shut in the 80s both days there you go there is something I don’t know what it is it’s just about you know and if you get in the right rhythm with the rest of the groups you’re not waiting on anybody anyway you get to see those people I think you know I’ve come to the conclusion I’m an empathetic golfer and that when I see people and I I eventually I start I start emulating swings and it takes me a while to get back out of it and when I go out there I don’t have to do it so uh hopefully that’s it Willard says chipping and putting have one of those orange whip things you know what I think there’s credit to that orange whip thing particularly to get tempos and muscles loosened up I think that’s could be a good thing hey look at that Alec old one’s not prop gun have you been no I have not I have not built anything from sub 70 they’ve not sent anything I wish they would some of that stuff looks very intriguing uh what I’m seeing the internet is a blaze with the fact that Vice golf is throwing some stuff out there uh I haven’t gone to their website yet but I have a a sneaking suspicion that right-handed or left-handed stuff may be at a minimum but we’ll see Mr P Ola what do you say Sir see what’s the biggest difference between the Shogun shafts and the Ventus blue I rotate between the Ventus and evenflow on my Wilson Oh on Even Flow green on my titanium driver okay so Stephen I did a a Shogun review in fact it was probably the very last video so if you go look at that you’ll understand but I’m here to tell you that and in those fittings that I was showing to you when we hit the driver I just you know I throw it out there hey you want to hit a uh an exotic shaft that’s why I label exotic Shaft or an elite shaft he goes well yeah let’s try it out and I give him the shun and what I think would work and in every single case so far I get this head turn and I get this and I’m like what he goes really like what and they go that was the nicest sh that was the nicest freaking driver I’ve ever felt like two guys said the two guys without prompting both said the D the driver feels like you’re hitting butter it just softens it up and they’re not lying it does and and so yeah the so what it what it comes down to Stephen is it now the Even Flow I can say this beyond a shadow of a doubt is the quality of the graphite and the quality of the of the assembly there is no contest all right now the Vintage the guys at Fuji uh the Venus I don’t know what the material is but I knew know they take their time to put stuff together but from a quality assembly point of view I think I still give the nod to the Shogun I just don’t know about the type of graphite that the ventis folks use they could very well be using it now it is hard not to hard not to you got to you’ve got to recognize the fact that Ventus is an extraordinarily popular shaft and all their colors right the blue the black and the red so what they’re doing over there is awesome I just think that this this gives the these shuns give it a whole different feel and in a lot of cases even a tighter dispersion all righty r y boy hello there first time well glad you’re here emailed you reshafting an old word bird with an AJ Tech that I have an AJ Tech really it’s been a wow is that was this the warb bird that with the uh not the steel shaft was it no that’s not the same oh okay we can do it if you got an AJ Tech that’s been ages since I’ve seen one of those that’s as old as the warbird but that that we can do warb birds are easy at least that’s what I think Robin saying welcome back Matt I walk straight at the first te and go for it two old way shots warming up I don’t think mommy would allow that K I think she’d probably be a little more proper well after five months of searching and one month of confirming I have made two changes to gain 30 yards per hole 17 to 20 yards golf is really fun gone from a seven to a plus nice shot of 71 well good so are we gonna are we going to hear what that what that change was that’d be kind of fun welcome back there Mr Willard thank you Mr Matt that’s a lot of watch time I know it is now I do get metrics every year from them and uh it’s funny that that 6.5 I on an average each year I I beat well over a million and uh it’s it’s fun to see the that the numbers are actually paying off Mr Jones thank you so very much sir the back porch is oh Matt saying our back porch is awesome it’s a great space yeah you we’re not quite done yet buddy but yeah we like it and the furniture is is for tall folks Matt so you’d like that one as well and there’s Kent going yeah you talking again Robin again again and and there he is he’s Still Loving the clubs I’m glad to hear it I want to see what 20 yards is you got everybody’s antenna up buddy and how’s that son of yours doing did he make Senior Chief yet it’s been a while alrighty Matt that’s really great s liking them one it yep barbecue look good you know what and it was pretty good I have to say so myself I’m my dad is a big rib Lover he likes that stuff I’m a I’m an okay r rib guy I I don’t mind making them I it’s just uh and I like eating them like right then and there I’m not much of a next day rib eater but I took some for lunch today and I’m really glad I [Laughter] did Mr three putt I feel your pain brother 75 degrees in north Texas with rain had a blast playing with my daughter today both shot 78s well ‘s got serious game there partner well done all right there’s Lawrence what do you say man like not a prop gun there you go yes I did and I’m sorry hey yukon’s back what do you say dude oh and I like the new one that’s pretty cool new logo like that Frank what’s up when you put up the charts you get real quiet well I’m going to try and I’ll try that out and be better at it what’s in the glass man looks like maybe you got what goes with what goes good with olives Waka no maybe some Jen [Music] sounds all righty Jim Reynolds shots 86 yesterday at mapa Hill Golf Club in Marathon New York came with one and a half of my fir oh came within one and a half of first hole in one well done sir glad to hear [Music] it Robin saying hello back RSG hello Jim Rob from St Louis outer bands of the hurricane have arrived yes that that’s a no joke that’s a no joke hurricane man I had Sunday had five birdies on the front as you say I threw fertilizer all over the back nine with five doubles you know what you got to wonder why how that happens a tale of two sides I don’t have to say Bob keep me kept me in check this time around and uh we both played you know both played I think very well he shot an 80 I shot an 82 and you know we both we both stumbled in a few places but for the most part played some I will say some very fairly consistent golf Herman’s here man we got a whole lot everybody’s back from vacations and stuff had nothing better to do than watch MC golf thank you well done Jack King he’s in Lumbard and it’s raining there it’s not raining here as you can tell now sat was it two days ago two days ago no it we had a we had a week week and a half of just absolutely miserably hot weather it’s in the mid 90s the humidity was up it was awful and we were out and I was working on the barrel and and it rained yeah there was Fourth of July and and it just came down like water pouring out of a boot and it was everywhere and and out of that it just got really really cool and the first night it got down in the 70s which You’ think oh my gosh it was great except for it 5,000% humidity then after the humidity burned off and it stayed cool it was really nice to the point Bob and I went golfing and it was in the 60s it turned around by the time we were driving away in our car was in the mid 80s which I think is just fine heck King Matt usually hit some putts and Chip and through the bag there we go Dean Dean’s in here he shot an 82 look at that in the hot muggy weather there you go all right the clubs I built for him they’re more accurate than the previous set you want to read it here so they can hear you you sure just asking go ahead okay just want to make sure Sor these are all CLS by you yes then my previous said I think I’m a I think the plus two is working for me getting more distance nice oh getting more distance from the driver having some issues getting the hybrids up in the air compared to my old ones but it’s getting better shooting 82 buddy that’s pretty good I’m happy for you well done here we go he hits about eight to 10 wedge shots than chips and putts there we go all righty can you just get Dino Power Forge heads with no shafts well Jim I can you can’t that’s the that’s how this that’s how this game rolls matter of fact they look a lot like that there they go these these guys are really quite nice they really are got it like the bar stool type chair okay so the reason why I get him is because of literally because of my status Jim that’s the reason why and I’ve been doing it for a while and we have a business and this is what we do and it took a while there this is no like you go to the rep and go oh yeah this a good thing in in every case when I’ve been able to get what we’ll call components and OEM heads I was literally talking to vice presidents of companies in some cases more in order to prove my point and and and it’s been a while Wilson’s been good with us they’ve been real uh they’ve been a real supporter um Srixon was a real supporter they were they were the actually the very first company that were able to do it with and then we you want to tell them yeah go ahead and tell them it was the same guy our same route was with Shon now he’s with Wilson for 20 years now there you go you got to talk a little bit louder so they can hear you I don’t have my own mic that’s really but you got to talk a little louder I no go oh okay and then the and uh and and but when they when the when the purchase with uh Cleveland got in there it muddled things up really bad and they finally got it back together and we went back uh mauno that was even harder still they are very very picky to the point you get the idea that they probably don’t like what we do because a lot of control comes out of their hands however they recognize the fact that a select group can actually make these golf clubs to the point and I and I don’t want to like I’m bragging but I am is that you know we got it I was number 19 in the world to get this and it we’ve never looked back I am I am buying heads and it’s a good product I’m buying heads at a rate that are would would rival a lot of regular mom and pop shops or even smaller shops from Muno now Callaway say well why not in Callaway and I can I could do Callaway like that I just choose not to because I believe the program that we’re currently in is far better than the proponent catalog and that’s the only reason why otherwise I would so there you go hopefully I didn’t go too far off track there you go she’s answering Peter what do you say Sir hello from mtle Beach 7574 72 over the weekend you know one day I would like to actually do that I don’t know if I got to you know I’d have to go up to the red teas I think in order to make that happen uh trick to beating Bob on the back n is to hi putter or switches putter I know and you know what he does that and you saw it Peter Peter and all three of us golf together down in Myrtle Beach and I’m here to tell you uh when Bob gets on that Putter and it was funny uh we were on one he he steps off his putts and he gets to one it was it was uh 39 P was it 39 feet it was a handful of paces and the going joke the going joke is at 40 foot I just give it to him because I know he’s going to make it but at foot he’s putting them all putting them all and I he stepped him off and I said oh you’re about a foot inside your range you going to make this he just looks at me looks down putts and drops it in the jar like it was nothing you just kind of sit there and you just go how can you how can you defense the 40 foot one putt you just can’t and it’s funny because we just get the biggest laugh out of it because it’s just it’s the truth because when he gets going it is amazing alrighty my do Rex tropical storms heading towards the fitting room be well Jim and you well you too buddy stay safe that’s what we want to make sure everybody’s good in the storm’s path Dan Z saw the new Callaway Opus wedges in person over the weekend I’m trying to figure dude I’m glad I’m gonna use you as my my news source because my folks here are pathetic I mean that’s just the only way to say it they’re pathetic and I’m sorry but you know now I will say this in their defense even though I just called them pathetic is that we’re in a very rural area we’re at the very ragged edge of this guy’s territory so we see him once a year only by requirement and that’s fine I just need to see him and we can go test them or whatever and and we’re moving on because we you know I’ve dealt with these guys I’ve met with them several several times and we can get there and it just I I know I haven’t got to your looks fantastic part of it but that part just it kind of it grinds on me a little bit and uh and even asking hey how about you send us some pictures oh I can’t do that just yet but we can talk about it well why would I want to buy it without seeing it I mean really so here we are all right now that I’m done complaining like a little girl all right oh look who’s talking you want to tell them again you want to keep talking on this one I’ll get I’ll get you I’ll get your microphone and you’ll just put you right over there someday someday huh all right we’ll talk talking we’ll just see how much overt talking there is all right they look fantastic still unsure of whether they will truly be oh yeah I don’t know they they’re talking like there was going to be two for sure uh two Coatings and typically that means silver and black but we’ll see I’m glad they look good do now Dan did you see the you know what the J grind is in the full toe do they have anything that looks like that I’m here to tell you guys and gals the Jay grind with a full toe that is my Max Daddy and since they’re called that it works but the the J grind is like the old tour grinds where they relieved a lot in the back but hardly any in the toe and man oh man is that I’m telling you what people say that if if anybody wants to tell you a wedge grind doesn’t mean anything they’re full of crud uh that works just for me I’m able to get the ball up in the air now it’s great all righty James guer great stuff here well thank you what’s your opinion on driver shaft length for low handicap golfers been struggling with a solid contact lately using a standard 5’7 Yahoo okay so James here’s the deal unless you’re about 6 and a half to 8 foot tall the driver length is far too long all right now I’ve been on the tour trailers I’ve been on the rifle trailer I’ve been on the cavalary trailer been on the strickson trailer and several different different areas and I’m here to tell you nobody plays a driver over 45 A2 Ines nobody okay in fact and I did and I did a study on this several years ago from golfers that were four foot and some change to I actually had an NBA guy in here and the average under the the best under the bell curve the best driver length was 44 a half all right 44 and A2 so between 4 4 4 and a half and 44 and 3/4 is the sweet spot for a driver and the if you want to go a little bit longer it was 45 you want a little bit more control was 44 that was it outside of that all the rest of those links were horrible now you get to 46 and it was good for only a select few and that’s it and I mean one percenter type things and that was it so I called the guys back on the tour trailer and said hey what are you guys building they said 44 and2 44 and 3/4 tip it and inch send it and put in the clip keep in mind the e here we go am I unmuted now we should be good to go keep talking we should be good to go now M okay so I know the damn thing just went into mute all right so there you go so I don’t know where we left but the bottom line here James is 44 and a half better contact better contact means longer drives no matter what I will take better contact over a mile hour gain swing speed all day me I’m 6254 user driver 43 and a half hit 60 now my two changes up from 240 there you go that’s impressive going shorter link May benefit and and and they do and that’s a fact and I I don’t know where you heard me if whether or not I was I’ve been on I’ve been on tour trailers before James and every last one of these guys nobody’s playing a 45 inch or better they’re all a little bit shorter okay there he is Jim two changes my stance from Square to dropping back a foot dropping back oh dropping a foot back gain me 10 yards really oh so you’re going you you flatten that out a little bit okay and then was the swi to the jumbo Max Ultra gain another set really well done man man jumbo Max like to hear that one wish there’s a way I could take a screenshot hold on a minute what’s this well yeah it’s not really a screenshot but watch this this is a screenshot yeah well it’s not the real that’s a screenshot I was taking a picture of the screen bud so there we go screen there you go Sun 67 Saturday the little sent me a picture of him in his group and his scorecard in the arrow holding former you will never see those irons again Peter not ever wow good for him man I get you guys get going you’re almost going to be that un feedable pair oh that’s good times in life just ain’t fair I know man I little Brett needs to have those clubs confiscated no doubt oh there he is my son’s doing really well thanks for asking he’s at C deployment and almost done alrighty dude I just so you know what I know your his dad and you’re proud I’m proud for him too anybody makes Chief that is a lifetime achievement as far as I’m concerned now to be able to go out there is okay humidity has been killer in Jersey I tell you what it’s been everywhere Lawrence it’s been it was awful here today the last couple of days after the rain’s not been bad but before it was just brutal you could hear you again see I’m asking her to join now Kent because she you know it’s one of those where you start talking about halfway through the sentence and and so there I might as well just give her I’m going to get you know I got that road thing where we can plug it in and I get two mics on one receiver maybe we’ll do that next time we’ll need yours we’ll need something okay Peter I’ve been reading a lot about how Club Fitters and manufacturers using hot medals to help players hit farther is that true hot metal you mean is hot metal uh I mean hot metal Munos I I’ve been getting a lot uh I mean I’ve been getting a lot of I’ve been getting a lot of good responses from uh the from the hot metal pro and it’s got a little bit bigger soul and a little less offset and it’s a little stronger and that’s what’s been going on now and if you’re talking about you using a hot metal I’m not sure what they’re talking about now what out there people have been using and it’s called the chromal and chromal as you would know is a is just another way of describing a steel it just has a little bit more chromium in it than say uh nickel and that would be the difference Al’s here from the space coast well done sir we got them all returning got it got it got it got it got it picking up her ah kiss is here okay alrighty now I’m back loud and clear can you hear me now there’s Mark can you hear me now oh that’s pretty good sorry too late to the party too many clubs to regrip no no there there you go Mark gota like that if you got you know R grippin is a is a certainly a a Cornerstone for a business to be able to do that that’s very good no doubt all right Lawrence I ended up cutting the AF blue shift down a quarter to half inch longer than the mini burner oh okay well quarter inch isn’t going to be too bad a half might be a little something let me know let us know how it worked out alrighty funny thing is I got fitted for a driver with 457 length shaft they never tried me in different lengths I will definitely try going shorter so that’s the thing so James here’s the thing title I will say this Titus makes a good golf club all right otherwise they wouldn’t be in business and they they’d go out of business if they didn’t make a good golf club they’re very traditional in their look I really like the AP line it looks good and clean right I don’t know about the TS drivers I’ve never hit one I get plenty of the T I get plenty the AP clubs in here to be sure okay uh the putters you know Scotty’s Scotty everybody’s going to like him uh but uh one thing that they don’t jack around with is length they very rarely deal with length they think that if you uh if you have it at a length and you hit it in the heel it needs to be flatter if you hit in the toe it needs to be more upright when cutting off a half an inch would solve every bit of that problem so that’s probably the reason why you didn’t get fit with anything else now J the other thing I can say here buddy is that you know 45 and a half if your swing is massive flat then that might be okay but even flat at 5’6 that’s a heck of a chore so I would try that well if he means Hot Melt yeah un mute the sound if uh if he means Hot Melt there some folks do use Hot Melt and that’s all Hot Melt is for is it’s not for distance necessarily Peter pardon me Hot Melt is used primarily for adjusting swing weight okay and that’s really all it’s for and and you can put it in there now hot milk can also be used if you had some loose fragments in a driver head you throw that in there and it will trap it like rat glue Ron Griffin man there everybody’s here micole Michigan well how you doing buddy that’s what I told him there buddy I told him choke it down and we’ll see what happens so there we go well look at that it’s like old home week here man everybody and we had a lot of re returns I appreciate that guys don’t forget to hit the like And subscribe if you would tell your friends let’s get some more subscribers out there so we can do this honestly I don’t have a video this time around of all this work and building we’ve been doing I should have videoed something of it but it was more important to get the golf clubs into the golfer hands than anything else uh maybe we’ll start with a A fitting series of of clubs and we’ll talk about length and we’ll talk about lie and we’ll talk about that kind of stuff and we’ll go with and we’ll go with that that sounds like an idea what do you guys think maybe talk about some of the basics of Club fitting and reasons why certain things work for certain people that sounds like that might be a might be a way to go I’m kind of liking that idea I’m kind of talking myself into it we’re going to get there hey you got and there he is he’s telling everybody be having a good weekend all right guys I’ve made it down to the bottom and again thank you guys we missed Charlie he wasn’t here and we missed our friends from Scotland that normally chime in hopefully they’re okay as always guys we’ll see you next Monday look for a video I’m sure I will throw something out there and as always let’s see your scores go low

Bourbob, barbecue and golf
What else is there in life???
I just had the lie on my set of Mizuno's adjusted, +2, I played with them and noticed that my strike was better, don't think I toed any shots, but I was pulling the ball left, the right distance, but def left with my irons. Would starting or aiming more right with a +2 adjustment make sense since the toe is more upright now?
Have to watch the replay, Jim. I lost power for two hours and wouldn't you know it, it happened 15 minutes before you were due to go live. Thursday–77, Saturday—82, Sunday–81 and finished with a birdie on 18.
Those T-Bones look like you needed Oversized Plates to put them on…Lol!
Baby Back Ribs—Now you're talking! 😊
A bourbon barrel to store your bourbon in—how quaint! 😉
We call that "salty language," Jim!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Peter…🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣It was bound to happen. Congrats on your Son's spectacular round with YOUR irons!
Mute button…
Great live, Jim!
Hmmmm T-bones on the barbe! 😍😜
