welcome to episode 91 of the Nero show in today’s episode we start off with a game for everyone I’ve blacked out every tour to France bike and you got to see if you can guess what the model is would yper stoven have won that stage on the old Mone and what’s going on with concussion tests we do a quick tour to France run through China is pumping some big cash into the estana world to a team next year we chat through what their plans are for the new super team and Jesse’s back training what does it look like what’s the mindset like all right let’s get into it I got a game to start us off this week Chris I’m going to send you a link now I’ll send you this link so there you go it’s see I message there so open that up while Chris is opening that up uh if you’re point out that he did not show he was like purposely not showing me this I’ve gone all koi now if you’re listening to this at the moment uh only on a podcast player I recommend jumping over to YouTube quickly because you’re going to have to look at some images so what I’ve done is I’ve taken every two of France bike this year and I’ve blacked it out so you can only see the silhouette so there are 19 bikes Chris has to tell me what the bike is brand and model now given how much we bang on about bikes I’m expecting 100% success rate from you here Chris and the first one’s a gimme so let’s start off number one okay tell me you know what that one is come on now I think it’s easy because obviously I was messing around in Photoshop doing it it may be harder for you and everyone listening this could be harder than I’m giving it credit for um so this it’s a potential trick question but the giveaway was the the the top tube having that triangle angulation where it goes in and then comes back out to go to the handlebars there was a there was a brief moment when I was going to say S5 and if I if i’ not thought about it I would have said that but I would have been wrong because I know that is the biane ultra ping it there’s two other letters there yep Ultra um ult TR uh a good SL it’s the ultr RC congratulations that’s a good start that is the bianc ultra RC their aob bike let’s go to number two all right let me just talk about my my my mindset here so it’s a it’s a one bike to do it all um now so that narrows that down um I’m looking at the front of it and I’m I’m looking for a speed sniffer I’m I’m going to say that’s not a speed lead sniffer so we’re obviously discounting the sl8 um Next Step would be to think about the the canondale oh I I don’t think it’s the canondale um not a thick enough head tube to be the Propel um okay I’m going to say the arrow blade incorrect damn I reckon a lot of people would have got this cuz it’s the giveaway feature that actually is the canondale Super Six see the rear bit of the seat tube that’s the giveaway the thicker seat tube area above the seat stay seat tube Junction so that is the canondale Super Six it’s interesting because I I thought the canondale Super Six was thicker tubed than that yeah okay so that’s that’s a good one that’s a good one to to notice now actually number three that’s Canyon Road correct wow well you have ridden that bike you do own that bike so I would like to think you can get that one and number number four I’m I’m banking pretty highly that that is a is a sel5 tick correct sir number five and see this this is interesting so the fact that the arrow bikes are so obvious is is kind of almost a talking point from this okay so number five I’m going to say that’s the sl8 incorrect that is is the kago V4 RS I never would have got that I never would have got that you I think you’ll when you see the sl8 you’ll it’ll be interesting go look back okay next one I thought the kaga had slightly more drop seat stays in that okay all right fair enough moving on number six oh if you want a clue if you’re not sure you want a clue I can I can probably give you a bit of a clue my mindset is either a Merida recto no with gut Marita reacto it’s not it’s w a stage this year so far week one tour of the France oh is it the Cube It’s the cube yes so that’s the cube lightning Arrow c68 X interesting yeah I didn’t realize it had the rear wheel cutout to be to be fair you don’t get these in Australia so you wouldn’t have had much familiarity I got am I am I 500 yet I I think I’m about three out of six I think got to do better than five uh moving on that bike it’s also one a stage oh maybe is that the look aob that’s not the look aerobike that’s the MV Malay yeah mhm he y yep okay yes I get that I actually totally forgot that was in the I know that’s the other thing I probably could have given you a list of the bikes to choose from but we’ll carry on number eight number Ace Jesus they are starting to all look very similar now so that that seat tube super thin okay I’m going to I’m going to say that’s a giant Propel that’s a factor ostram the new one Chris Miller I thought you would have got that one I thought you would have got that one I’m in a lot of trouble number nine I feel like you know when you’re on those those game shows and the the real the person’s just getting the obvious questions wrong everyone at home going come after time um this is I this is a bit of a actually no this one is hard there’s a few that would probably fit this Marita reacto that’s the giant propeller that’s the giant Propel that’s the giant Propel yep look correct well done nice that was just you was zoned in on that one yeah I think the karma Wheels saved me mhm have been should have been looking for those from the very beginning yeah Marita reactor correct in the z i I had a hard time obviously it’s I’m not a graphic designer that’s the Dare that is the new dare no two ways about it come on come on I’m on a roll here we go here we go oh [ __ ] has it won a stage it hasn’t won a stage I give you a clue it’s not a it’s not one of the main Brands it’s one you’re going to have to kind of go through the teams and we need to give you these thing so you can follow along you don’t have to have to know it’s it’s I’m not I wasn’t expecting to get this one quite hard that’s the new or or orero written by Lotto Destiny number 14 if you don’t get this one we’re we’re hanging it up and going home Le Dogma yes sir oh that’s a Scot foil yes sir sorry apologies blank there I I’ll show you I’ll just show you oh that’s the speed sniffer I thought you would have got that okay thank you so the SL well done uh the Mima number 17 well done y um last two difficult last two are difficult are they okay oh oh that is that Cav’s bike is that the will Air no oh uh yes that is the van risle that’s the van rizle correct and then number 19 must be it’s one a stage record breaking will quite generic looking if I do say so myself even he was all about arrow for that yeah I’ll have to look back work I’m no I’m super disappointed on a few of them actually I’m very disappointed about the cannon you’re right that’s a standout feature that seat Tu that um seat post you got 12 out of 19 let not disappointed I want to I reckon there’s there’s going to be some 19 and 19s in the comments can say that much speaking of the tour yeah you got any other any talking points you want T chat tour a chat cracking cracking cracking absolutely cracking one word for it strata bankee stage was sick can we can we have that chat or is that too cliche to just do the standard is a gravel stage we can have we can have standard chats y I’m happy to thoughts then was very good I’d be worried if it was raining better than cobbles I think less dangerous than cobbles yeah less chance for things to go wrong than a than a cobbled stage so I didn’t yeah I didn’t mind it cuz I I would have thought you would be more of the mindset of no don’t need this [ __ ] in here we just want a wats per kilo Challenge from go to wo and the the least sort of variables the better I want to know who the best athlete is well I’ve said before I hate the Cobble stages M and it’s and it is it is really good to watch so it’s as long as nothing goes wrong you go oh that’s awesome but one year if they put a cobble stage in and it’s raining and some GC Rider crashes out and it ruins the GC for the rest of the tour and then everyone will go oh I don’t know if that was the right thing to do so I think each stage whether it’s cobbles or dirt and then how much dirt are there dirt descents climbs what’s the what’s the consist consistency of the the gra dirty stuff I think this one given that the weather was good was was fine good but at the same time you know if if it if it’s drenching rain that day how does that play out and then how does that then affect the rest of the race that that’s sort of my thing is like not all no no two gravel roads are created equal and so no two gravel stages are created equal I think they got the mix just about right there was just enough variability in the sense that okay there was a couple of those little segments where if you were on the left hand side of the road it was like a sand pit and you’re on the right hand side you got a good run I think that that’s sort of variability is is acceptable and certainly now given your most of the teams are running 30 mil tires tubless that kind of terrain is not out of the question of a lot of these cyclists and I do think I do think in 2024 it’s acceptable to count your skill in that kind of terrain as part of the overall challenge of winning the biggest bike race in the world it’s it’s I don’t think bashing yourself over Stone cobbles in northern France is that because no one else is doing that but a lot of Road Riders now will do you know little gravel segments here and there and I do think it’s fair enough to ask the person winning the world’s biggest bike race to do a bit of that to to see if they’re capable of doing it and I think that showed even in the results of that stage that the GC guys weren’t totally out of their depth in fact you could argue the world’s best bike rider proved himself to be the world’s best bike rider and dominated it just couldn’t get his Rivals to work with him but that’s a whole other the chat um so yeah for me it’s it’s not it’s not a conversation is a gravel stage good or bad it’s if you get the gravel stage right like then definitely like a gravel stage through Devil’s cardigan no yeah not not a good idea um but a couple of a couple of segments through there no rocks a bit of sandy stuff where you can kind of put it in the gutter and you know Jonas’s rear wheels fishtailing around because he’s a bit of a Hubbard and he’s light I like that like that to me is kind of cool why isn’t there two of them or three off-road stages why is there just one I mean it makes for a great TV why not stick three of them in there why not just make it a gravel race and put everyone on gravel tires well actually there is something in that like is there a call for there being you know all these manufacturers make a make a gravel setup why not actually have a gravel stage that is a gravel stage and it would almost remove some of the variability if they were on bikes that was were actually made for for gravel so I don’t know Sprint stage with gravel in it gravel bikes and the T FR there you go Sprint stage with gravel in it well there’s so many Sprint stages I don’t if they get the mix right and it’s not crazy cobbly it’s just that basically what they did I have two of them but one of the last week when everyone’s even more tired I don’t know could be could be right I was it the most compelling stage you’ve seen it was easily the most compelling non-mountain stage I’ve seen in years on par with those crosswind ones you know the one where sagg rode away with Chris room on the flat like 60k an hour maybe that but yeah this Rivals it’s up there yeah 100% um couple other little talking points I want to have a well I want to have a suck about one of them and that’s so I think it was the stage prior to that where or maybe it was the gravel stage it was the gravel stage that pav COV came off um luckily by the looks he actually ended up crashing into a grass Verge oh vof vof sorry what who did I say COV oh sorry yes vof apologies um so he’s crashed and he’s if you actually I’ll play some of the video if I can find it but he’s got up off the bike and you can see him visibly stumble and cyclist being cyclist just gets straight back on his bik no sorry the mechanic comes up offers him the new bike he’s straight back on the new bike and away he goes no concussion test nothing and you can see like his his helmet has been hit like to me that is absolutely disgraceful that in 2024 we still just allow that to happen like other other sports other contact sports are paying so much attention to this and in the world’s biggest bike race according to Remco the most watched sporting event in 2024 didn’t say that can we give that one up sorry it’s not an Olympic year or anything rco um but it’s not even in the top 10 just my point like that’s that’s just completely unacceptable and this is in the same week that we have another fatality in in the sport it’s just not good enough and yes I know there are challenges around it with the way the the race plays out but I’m sorry but rugby has pretty much got its head around the fact that in a World Cup final it might be players being sent off they’re accepting it so I think we need to get get to a stage where we’re grown up enough to pull a guy out of a race of a stage get them a concussion test and you know what they can start the next day yeah let them I was going to say well if you pull out you’re screwed because you don’t get GC T but they could have a rule where they let them let them start again and then it’s like and then you hear the argument oh people start taking the piss out of it like what just just do a Chris Miller in a crit and fall over and then bang their head against the ground to try and make it look like they’ve had a concussion like what are you talking about here so no I think I think that’s that’s pretty poor and that definitely needs to be addressed that’s my Su about that you got anything else or cuz I got I got quite a few you run with that you got plenty here um not race not race stuff but um a bit of equipment stuff did you see the new s workk shoes I’ve seen the photo you put in that is so this is RAM Co even P it is what like what are we doing here this this is is is he riding through transition like I do not understand how we’re we’ve gone back to velcro straps we’re back on velcro this is quite the Revelation um doesn’t like what you got a flapping that looks like it’s going to be flapping In The Wind that front vco strap little overlay I don’t quite get it looks an update to the S works that Sprint shoe they had the one that had that grubby white insole that got all dirty that was kind of interesting um idea of the shoe being really stiff Sole and then you just crank that sucker down so it’s super tight on your foot okay and so clearly they think going back to velcro is going to be the way forward would not see me on them but throw the issue of that that that velcro strap in there um I can obviously they’ve decided there’s an arrow advantage to not having two Bowers so that’s potentially the reason for it but I’ve never understood the black like um top part of the shoe cuz it just makes it look like because they tend to be then running a white shoe a white sock sorry and then you’ve got this sort of weird black tongue section of the shoe to then go into white I just it’s always for me looked crap it looks crap I reckon when you’re riding and you’d be looking down and you’ll just see this black strip running through the middle of the shoe that’s just a No it’s it’s not a pro look I’m sorry Remco you’ve you’ve youve failed on this particular occasion um yeah so for me that’s that’s not not up there with with some of the best Aesthetics seen at the tour some of the best Aesthetics seen at the tour giant have massively upped their paint game so did you see any of these this is sick that is wow so I’m looking at the giant Propel of Dylan Kagan and they’ve done this cartoon sketch sort of artwork on the frame and it looks like someone’s edited the photo in post but that’s right that’s the paint is it so I was exactly the same when I first saw this photo it wasn’t until I saw the guy standing behind it and I’ll bring the picture up who’s an real human standing there that I didn’t realize this wasn’t a fake like AI generated image it’s easily like it actually to say it pops out of the photo a complete understatement it’s it’s quite incredible actually and so they’ve done this one and then they did Michael Matthews bike as well which was another kind of silvery finish with kind of a little bit of green and gold on it um I just you know we give or people will use the throwaway line of yeah but it’s just a giant a loss and sometimes it’s very sort of spoton but they’ve they’re pushing back and they’re pushing back hard with some pretty sick paint jobs do they make these available though that’s the question because I saw changor R other day about uh the S5s and they’ve done their new paint for this for this year or maybe it’s the 2025 2024 mod and it’s black matte black gray and then the team color if you buy the frame set only so is this actually going to make it onto the floor somewhere where you could buy or get interesting colors CU if you look at cell for example awesome um two of France colorway to match the kit the blue with the yellow logos looks awesome and then the ones you actually buy when you you know want to go buy an S5 or gray and black yeah gray and black so H um don’t know the answer my guess is no I don’t think uh grun of vegan’s uh Dutch national champs bike is going to be available to sorry I didn’t I to that I totally missed that that this is because he’s the Dutch national champion totally I see now you got the colors in there I didn’t even realize oh okay right that makes a bit more sense um what else have I got for you um uh so that gravel stage that we were talking about epic day Gasper had it Mr stoven y perfect perfect attack 8 nks to go he’d been sitting on after the those first initial attacks from I think Derek G and thrown one down and Ben Healey had thrown one down and then it was just this almost predictable Counterattack move no reaction gets the Gap second group dynamics is going to play out and he’s going to ride away and solo victory for Tre little Tre in an an iconic tour to France stage well sadly Jesse he’s on a Mone gen 8 and he didn’t have his Arrow bottles in and he was pulled back and I was actually uh well sure I wasn’t the only one who was absolutely shocked that he was pulled back and I reckon I reckon he hangs on if he’s on the Gen 7even I think he he had massive regrets that he didn’t have the big thick Arrow bike underneath him I’m zoomed in here there’s Arrow bottles on there oh there are at least at this section of gravel at some point in the race he was running the bottles now that’s the thing as well the team are running those bottles as their food Zone bottles it looks like they’ve got hundreds and hundreds of them because that’s their bottle it’s not just a showpiece on the start line and then they’re on round bottles it does look like they are at least attempting to run those so I I actually got to give him credit it’s one of those things where bike gets released and it’s like it’s so fast because it’s got this part and then the pros never actually use it had a fair play for using that um but but I’m sorry you’d be demanding it if you’re the rider at this point like if you’ve taken away my aerrow bike and you’re saying the only way to get it to be the same speed is to run these bottles I’m sorry but there a must must be on my bike at this point I 100% agree but we’ve seen yeah plenty of times that that just doesn’t happen so yeah but would he have won on the he he probably would have yep I’ll go there this next segment is sponsored by FAO ASA you’ve been testing one of their new products I want to chat through your experience with the asoma MX mountain bike off-road pedals pretty stoked that FAO is supporting the show and supporting us with this segment here because as people might have known we’ve been riding for Vero ASA pedals on the road since 2020 since they sponsored the team neero Continental uh they’re the only pedals Road I’ve been using for the last four years fantastic product recommend them all the time so now to be able to chat through in detail these new pedals you’ve been testing pretty cool experience the yeah I mean there’s there’s a couple of reasons I sort of chased these up obviously the first is I was starting to do a little bit more off-road and kind of that was a that’s a thing that I wanted to get to and the flexibility then of being able to use a pedal power based system which allowing me to use different chain Rings all that kind of stuff so there’s a lot more flexibility and what I found so far riding a bit off-road is like flexibility is a thing because you are often doing an adventure ride or something like that where your gearing is entirely different to a flat gravel race so that was one thing the second was the actual specs of this and I do I do want to mention this real quick because I when we first saw and I think we actually talked about these products when they first appeared was the fact that there’s no more pod pod’s gone the Pod is gone now this is It’s it wasn’t a massive pod on the road side of things and actually for the road the Pod has never caused me an issue it’s quite small sits up against the crank so yeah what’s the advantage of not having a pod for off-road well Offroad you’ve got one less thing to whack essentially so there’s there’s far more durability inside it but what they’ve actually done is is pretty cool I’m not going to use the classic YouTuber phrase of uh it’s a game changer but it is pretty cool so all the actual electronics are entirely enclosed in the pedal axle so it’s completely sealed they’ve got metrics and Peak talk talked about this and he was he talked he gave me numbers of specs of How It’s enclosed in there essentially saying that nothing is getting into this axle so obviously from a pedal accuracy thing that’s really good from a durability P perspective Ive that’s really good and also it means that the pedal itself so the one bit that’s on the outside that potentially could get damage potentially not likely to but is is actually enclos enclose none of the electronics and hence I think I think it’s like €60 or something around that to actually replace that pedal yeah I’ve had this I found the same Ro I replace those Asom pedal bodies and then it’s all the electronics in the spindle sealed in and you just swap your pedal buts if you happen to to wear through them um so essentially that means they are bulletproof they they really are a completely bulletproof product and they are actually really light they are the lightest power meter pedal on the market so they’re lighter than the Garmin ones and lighter than the SRM ones what I want to talk about just is is the actual pedals themselves because they are pedals and so they need to perform as a pedal really well and what is surprising when you first open these and look at them is the build quality of them and it’s entirely um it’s made by Acoma the CNC Machining of the actual pedal is really quite fine it’s really nice I have mashed these about as much as and that was the reason I wanted to go cuz everyone talks about do you run road bike shoes or do you run mountain bike shoes I was always going to be a mountain bike shoe person running gravel because I know I’m going to put my foot on the ground I’m going to need that kind of flexibility of put my foot on the ground it’s muddle over the cleat there’s muddle over the pedal I need to then be able to clip in I’ve had no problems with that and there’s a really nice little finish on the pedal it’s like a little almost like a sandpapery section that I don’t know if if you may have not done much of this but when you’re trying to clip back in on a steep incline you’ve got crap and [ __ ] all over your pedals all over your cleats You’ you’ve only got like a split second to try and get it into that thing before you actually need to get power down and traction down and get moving and these little rough Parts on the pedal allow you to get that little bit of extra traction and grip on the pedal to clip in and get going again so for me they had to perform well as a pedal and they have done that nice that’s what you want to know what about then accuracy side of things the technical actually power measurement side that’s why the road ASAS have been Market leading and Market changing what what’s the numbers what’s are they are they just as good I just wish there was a road model of these already yeah they’re just totally absolutely spoton um and you know I so I was originally running them in conjunction with a a stages left-sided power meter which I did rate as a pretty good solid solid readout these have matched all the numbers of of that stage’s power met and I don’t know most people know this at this point but stages really is no longer there so that even just taking it to the next step of what options do you have if you’re running say a grx group set now for power you’re now limited down to again the pedals being a really good option and they’ve been absolutely Rock Solid bulletproof yeah I mean for I also have a reputation for that they’ve built over many many many years and hours of testing so yeah I’d be confident in yeah last little quick thing I want to say just about the pedals um really low stack height so you’re about a 11 mil stack height reason that’s kind of helpful is it means your sort of seat saddle height across your road bikes across all your Different Bikes can be set up pretty similarly and the Q factor is really nice really small so again it’s not like you’re getting on a bike and it feels completely different because it all kind of feels about the same setup um last thing you can crank the um you can crank the tension really high if you want you can back it off a bit there’s quite a bit of flexibility in terms in terms of that the clip in tension for the okay y so a lot of adjustability around that and yeah I’m I’m pretty stoked with these actually I’m going to continue to ride them we’ll talk a bit more about them once I’ve done some more stuff on them but yeah pretty happy balisimo I will mention if you do if you are interested in the MX power meter pedals there’s a link down in the description be great if you did use that link because obviously that would support the show and yeah thank you to FAA for supporting today’s episode of the nuro show now be remiss for us to not mention Cav breaking the record 37 36 35 35 I think that’s right where does this stack up for you Chris always ask this existential where’s where is it in the list of Jesse Coyle cycling moments is it where is it is it anywhere does it have you already forgot about it what’s the hierarchy I want to know like what’s the on the list of Jesse Coy’s procycling moments you hang on so you’re you’re getting me to guess bikes so I’m telling asking you all right on the list of iconic memorable procycling moments that will live with you where is it it’s right at the top of the list said that with no conviction whatever mental like I’m not going to be I’m not going to be going to sleep in a week’s time going oh remember when C got his 36th win so I’m just not particularly sentimental but what he did of the two years of like slogging his way through a season and going to the tour and he didn’t win and they had to do a whole another season he’s getting old turning 40 is objectively incredible does it am I going to have a poster of C in my bedroom or my wall phone wallpaper you going to be telling Ash one day or remember the day no I’m not that I it’s just it’s cycling things move on I no it just doesn’t really no I’m just not that kind of I’m just not that kind of guy but yeah so there’s no there’s no particular moment like in terms of so you just have you’ve moved on from sagar’s World Championship wins because that was for me for me that was when he won his third that was the one I went oh I’m sort of living through something that’s particularly special I remember thinking that for at least a month or two after being like I’m lucky to be alive to see this type type thing I get that I’m more of an actual like race scenario that picked the I’m more of like a visual sort of thing like yeah it was amazing win you know he picked the lines and got the Gap and then came through was it was good but I’m remembering more some of the more memoral things for me is like um remember Ian stanard versus the three quickstep Riders I can almost that 10minute clip on YouTube I can pretty much go attack by attack that sticks with me in my brain because it’s more of an actual amazing visual kind of feet c one it doesn’t I’d argue that you might be the only person in the world when asked to to list their most memorable iconic moments in procycling has given Ian stanard at I think it’s omloop I’m G to go on a limb and say that has the most iconic moment Fair Play Just he’s like at 70 rpm just just riding one speed and they’re all like like flies coming on and blowing up and you just towels them up no you’re right I mean for no particular reason nibber winning Sano for some reason lives in my mind is the how the hell did that just happen sort of moments yeah no fair enough um but it is yeah it is kind of it is still mindblowing to think 35 of them I think also part of it is we wouldn’t have been fully engaged in procycling for the bulk of that we would have come in towards the there was obviously that one season at quickstep where he came back and and won a bucket of them but I certainly wasn’t there watching The High Road days and the the invention of the lead out train and that sort of thing at the time so you see at the they’re interviewing at the end he was kind of stilling at high and then Vin kurov who manages the team comes over and sort of Embraces him does that like how are we does that have some stink for you do you think find it weird that like a GU of a two-year ban for blood doping they then manages a team is then celebrating probably with the rider that’s achieved you know one of the most the greatest Feats most stages in the tour to France and then you know within five minutes of the Finish you know an X doer is on there beyond that like backed him like the remove if you removed the history of vinura of you would think this guy is this incredibly um uh what a what a incredible soul to like to to back have through all these downs and back him through in the second year uh to answer your question yeah it stinks the high hell I can’t look at him straight like just every every time yeah you see him it’s just a reminder of of that era so and it’s not that whatever that era is era um but the fact that you’re still there that’s what I was going to say it’s kind of yes that’s say it’s not it’s just the pure look I’m not saying anything I don’t I don’t know it’s probably not doping but it’s just the look of it is just odd You’ think like for we’re always proclaiming how the sports it’s a new generation and it’s the younger Riders and it’s much cleaner and it’s all cleaned up that they still haven’t cleaned house from some of those guys I I can’t get over that it’s just a very I think it’s a bad look most people the thing is most people don’t know who’s that most team cars have a an ex dooper in there because there was an entire generation of them and yeah we we winge about this every year that piss off we don’t want you anymore but I actually almost feel like it’s flipping around the other way and again Lance was my biggest hero got me into the sport and it’s interesting at the moment his podcast is now for the first time being so it’s now in the NBC app so I think the way it works in the US now is so peacock which is the um NBC app spin-off which does a lot of the cycling content so the move is now in that of family of content so you can view it on mainstream platforms which feels to me like it’s the first step to Bringing Lance back into the the fold I actually don’t have a problem with that at all at least I’m involved in a managing a bloody team I I I actually don’t if he’s outside the the inner Realm of the sport he’s just a now he’s a commentator entertaining interviewing current not a sorry not a commentator he runs his own media you know podcast he can say what he wants if people find entertain that’s fine if Lance Armstrong suddenly was you know the sports director of a team you’d go uh why why are you involved directly in the TOs and throwings of a pro Rider uh I that’s I feel like there’s a that’s a big difference between those two things that’s fair enough that’s that’s a pretty fair split to make yeah I’ll accept that but I just kind of thought that was interesting that the mainstream media have started to Money talks like it’s a super successful show so clearly it’s going to but yeah in kurov in there and yeah I don’t like it oh actually do you want to link that into some of the vorov news or potential vorov news theana stuff yeah that was that interesting that came up um yeah let me this was a cycling news article that came out and I’ll just kind of read through it because it’s it’s very kind of breaking news there’s not a lot of detail so we’ll kind of run through it and so the the title of this cycle news article is Chinese brand XDS carbon Tech invest in aan Kazakhstan to create new super team uh by line of the article says team will use Chinese xlab bikes Caden Groves expected to be first major signing so cycl news understands that the shenzen based company will become a major investor in the team for a period ranging from 5 to years the Chinese registered team that’s what they’re saying next year it’s going to be a Chinese EST is going to be Chinese registered with funding from this carbon manufacturer will have a budget in line with the super teams of cycling’s top tiers such as UA Emirates and Vima Lisa bike as part of that they will then switch suppliers of bikes from Willer to xlab which is the in-house brand of that carbon manufacturer which is pretty big news firstly that we’re going to have another apparently super with these massive budgets can then sign more Talent new of itself but the fact that this is going to be a a Chinese registered team and a Chinese registered team whose major sponsor is a carbon bicycle frame manufacturer it’s kind of crazy and they’ll be running a Chinese China bike they’re going to be sters on China bikes next year apparently a lot to unpack it’s massive new I got to say when I first saw this I went XDS carbon who the hell are you like I kind of thought that we were in the the crowd like if there was going to be a Chinese manufacturer that got involved in procycling I would have thought we’d be like oh yep well let’s review some of their old models and we’ll talk about them because we know those BL those we had very little clue and um I think you reached out to Joe to sort of get some kind of information about these guys and it seems like this is a a big Factory they are yeah so I probably shouldn’t say the brands but they of the we have discussed of the few um actual factories the plants that produce the frames this is one of the big ones over there so Joe was kind of I was kind of saying what I asked him I said well seems so weird that you know a Chinese frame manufacturer is going to have the tens of millions of Euros a year to fund a super team and he’s like no no they they they’re huge wouldn’t surprise me if especially given the co boom domestic Market the amount of frames they be they’d be producing millions of frames he goes they probably would have the cash to do it uh so I I I’m surprised but yeah apparently the profits of some of the carbon frame manufacturers must be very tidy if they’re doing this sort of thing again this is a weird one because like on the one hand I’m so so stoked that there’s here’s another player different country different different world getting involved in World Tour racing that that is got to be a good thing fact they’re getting together with a stanner and our mate vinokurov who’s probably making buckets from it always yeah as we just sort of said doesn’t quite sit that well with me in the first place and there is I will say there is another little element to this that is there is a a little undercurrent here of I don’t want to say sportswashing but this is certainly something that potentially is going to be backed by the the Chinese government and that is potentially a little bit irksome to have another national government involved in in the sport seeing as we’ve we’ve already got a few oil ones involved is that where things end up that we just sell all the teams off to catch R catch cash Rich Nations I’m not sure that’s cool but is that any different to some billionaire spending their money on it that’s a whole other chat but yeah at least it’s h the only thing I would say there is at least it’s in a country where cycling is expanding and it is this is a good way to bring more people into the sport it’s like uh you know some like like uh Bahrain like how many Road cyes are there in Bahrain it’s just irrelevant whereas like a China based team cool there’s like a bazillion people in China there’s a lot more people just coming into Road cycling so from that point of view regardless of the you know the whatever the the freedom of the people in the country whatever I just I I do like that going the Asian direction is I of like that as opposed to you know a country where no one cares about cycling anyway of like that it’s kind of funny I was the the the in inner ring which is cycling website did an article digging into some more details and they posted here so what’s XDS this sort of this Factory um and a photo that they had on their website and you can clearly this Frame it’s swinging around this conveyor Bel on the Factory’s got an Ora logo on it so so we can we can say that without divulging information because they put this on their website is at some stage they produced frames for OA CU they put up a photo with the frame there I can see I can see Jess Jesse Co on the uh the coaching staff here I reckon this is your in to the World Tour why cuz I’ve written a Chinese frame yeah yeah is your coach that’s it I’ve got experience I reckon that’s I reckon you’re in here XDS reach out we’ll uh we’ll discuss we’ll discuss contracts who’s going to win the Tour to win the Tour do you still think I I don’t think my heart’s right I think Primos could be happen to Primos so excited for him I think he’s lucky so we’re recording this at the end of the first rest day I think he’s probably lucky to be where he is at this point um I don’t I can’t see a route back to to contest with the the top two what do you do you think the podium is we on the on the dirt oh my God it oh God he kept getting dropped I could just move forward what are you doing like how hard is it just ride further forward I love his interviews he literally says nothing I Haven listen to absolutely it’s just oh yeah today yeah no we got through it the question could literally be anything oh yeah no today well we got through it you know we’re good we’re good like okay cool cool um yeah no I don’t think it’s I don’t think it’s on for for Primal unfortunately do the tables turn does does yonas suddenly find 15 watts in the back end turns tabled ah you’ll come good he was undercooked at the start he’ll come good I reckon he’ll come good Remco Remco yeah we’ll see there’s a world where I would really like to see Remco in this there is a world it would be cuz I think if he did it would be some incredible stage I don’t think it would be a capitulation even even his attack on that gravel stage I haven’t seen him do that in a grand tour like be that aggressive before like he raced that like a classic maybe that’s not the best way to approach a granter I’ll give him that but I don’t know there’s there’s there’s a there’s a way he wins this that’s that’s a a pretty cool story ah other little bit you put here so Jonas is on tubs that how they don’t Reserve don’t make tub let’s hang on it just just just relax oh this is a Chris Miller fact we are operating in the world of Chris Miller facts here IE Chris Miller Instagram DMS oh and yes so there are there are uh 30 mil tubulars that are still made in fact they’re still on the reserve um on the reserve website currently okay very very difficult I did some proper pixel peeping on it very very difficult to spot because those Cony tubulars do balloon out quite a lot like the like the tubeless ones vior vioria sorry one so it is hard to tell but that would make perfect sense to me because there’s there’s the missing 200 Grand yes that would make that would solve the which really annoys me because what no don’t do that to me don’t get me excited that this is achievable with a normal human setup and have gone back to tubs just you could run you could get a set of tubs you could but they’re crap I’m not doing it they’re crap so no no I’m I’m totally off that if that’s the case okay so I I’m waiting final there is there I am going to actually get the official word on this mind you I have a I have a contact on the inside on firstly what is the weight of his bike in climbing setup correct and what are we missing is that the what’s there’s three setups he he’s he’s set he’s got three Mountain setups so he’s got the R5 which is just essentially has he used that yet no okay um and he it’s they’re not predefined to what stage he he will kind of tell them with how he’s feeling legs that kind of stuff um so he’s got three he’s got the R5 set up he’s got the one we saw and then then he’s got the S he’s got the S5 sorry I’ll start that again he’s got R5 with the one by yep which they have to add weight to because it’s it’s very very light they then have a normal R5 setup with 2 by normal um with the 30 mil tires and then he’s got the S5 climbing setup so they’re the three climbing setups obviously then he’s got the flat stage just R5 setup but that tends to stay the same and also the other thing I’ll mention is we were kind of right remember when we were talking at the beginning of the year where sep cus was writing a one by in say Parry n but I don’t think that’s right he was on a Solo solo he was running soloist one by that’s what they were doing they were testing different configurations for the stage just gone so okay no I don’t think anyone actually did that and rode the solo they all ended up riding the S5 um because they could get the tie clearance on it from what from what I understand but we were kind of in the ballpark with the testing different setups but the the yeah I’m not going to but The Soloist just isn’t as good as the S5 so it’s more capable in certain areas but for a pro cyclist it’s just not as fast so you’re not going to choose it if you give the opportunity all right Jesse you’re going to read out today’s subscriber question because you haven’t done one for about six months know and it’s it’s it’s for the people that don’t care about aerodynamics I’m so sorry because it’s another bloody aerob I didn’t pick the question Chris picked it so go and get pissed off at him hi Chris short question what’s the best aeroframe money can buy based on your eurobike experience looking for a new bike that’s from Jordan so Jordan I just made that name up I think you just made that name up I don’t know where you pulled that from um so the fact that the person said the best aeroframe money can buy has me thinking we’re talking a we’re talking a China build no I thought you’d say the best airm money can buy would be just no budget oh that’s a no budget just no budget yeah not not best AA bike for the money I had a different I was kind of going along the lines of all right if we want to answer this the best aeroframe money can buy you’re not just looking at speed because the wind space t500 the any of those sort of ones if you just want to go under 210 Watts until magazines aot testing you know probably not that hard but if you want to do that and still be light and not be riding a plank of wood seems like that’s where the money’s coming in a little bit more difficult to get that now what bike gets that performance but also doesn’t weigh a ton rides pretty well that is the million dollar question it’s the million dollar question I mean the default answer for a lot of these qu questions becomes a giant just because the price point it’s too heavy wow okay the unless you get the SL model okay yeah with the integrated seat post y I’m talking you know if we’re kind of top of the top ones the non integrated because people don’t some people don’t want the integrated seat because you have to know your seat height and then it’s can be pain to travel so I understand I like theg SE I understand people don’t want it so if you’re think going okay well let’s get the one with the regular telescopic seat post it’s too heavy yeah Fair Point you’re not going to that’s not up there so my other criteria for this that could this could just be me is that a lot of the good ones like the canyon a road CFR or the SLL S5 they all have some proprietry handlebar stem setup so in my opinion for like the best of the best if I would prefer it without that so you can run whatever fancy super narrow custom one carbon bars you want or whatever so what has the weight aerodynamics and ride quality of a S5 or a canyon Aid CFR but still allows you to run a separate handlebar stem not sure that exists I hate to say it but an S works sl8 is probably the closest thing and that’s very light the problem is if you’re wanting now that said best aerrow bike and then the problem is if you buy that it probably rides really well and you’d be really happy with the weight and you can run whatever handle bars you want but you would still be looking at something like the new dare and going now this person’s asked for an aerobike and my experience at eurobike y so I.E what was it Euro eurobike that’s the way I was viewing it okay yeah so then the problem is it’s not going to be it’s not as fast as an out andout aerrow bike so what what’s coming to mind there any is there anything that ticks that box not really because once once you start going the route of the full out aerrow bike you you are being being locked into integrated proprietary integrated front ends certainly at a non-china build spec I mean that’s so where I kind of started heading with this chat was wind space were there winds space were at eurobike and I’ll be honest I kind of had forgotten about now Trigon was there as well with some pretty eye popping bikes and I was potentially going to be suggesting that but again you weren’t really talking about B what’s the def definition of an arrow bike for me that bike doesn’t quite fit that bill and so no I I think the answer the answer in terms of what I saw there is you are super Limited in terms of of what you can can go and find like the simpl on Pride same thing it had a very priy integrated bar and stem and by all accounts the actual um purchasing options around that’s a really weird brand can I just just total offshoot so I went to try and find the simplon pride and have a good good look around it and and potentially even ride it on the the track there but that brand so they have their test track bikes all out there two big tents I’m like fantastic here we go simplon Pride for the boys fantastic it’s all ebikes it was 95% ebikes and commuter Bikes their brand is that’s what I think we didn’t fully appreciate the um when what was the tour magazine Fell’s name again um Roger no Robert when we were talking to Robert he he was kind of saying we were really surprised by this little Brands line I can see why now because that brand is entirely e by commuter stuff and they had like one it was was literally like the simplon pride was like in the corner no one was like even looking at it like everyone else was just taking out the ebikes so anyway so you didn’t get to ride it I didn’t get to ride it cuz it wasn’t even a test bike it was just like oh that’s Steves over there well don’t know whose that is so anyway so sad times for Chris who who wanted to have a good look around that um but coming back to my point is uh no that’s probably not a best money can buy stalk had a good look around the stalk one their aerob bike not really a fully fledged aerobike really really light but very very expensive um qu quite Boutique as well and yeah the Scott foil again proprietary no you can so I was going to say with the Scott foil RC you can put on separate handlebar stand oh interesting now was was Scott at eurobike yes okay you can put separate handlebars and Sam on the Scott foil and the RC version actually is pretty light mhm um totally unscientific when uh geologist YouTube guy uh Jeff NorCal tested it against his wind space he noted that it was significantly more comfortable so you’ve got the ride quality thing um the problem is it’s not that actually that fast it looks really fast two magazines got it at 206 Watts that’s like an SL an sl8 is I think 208 so it’s know like an aads 202 I mean I I I totally understand we’re splitting hairs but maybe but that’s probably as close as I could think of of that sort of blacked out top spec Scott foil it’s going to be pretty light I’m on I’m on weight weenies right now some guys built one up in a size 56 with the crw 5060 wheels and it weighs 6.7 kilos yeah right built wow yeah and that’s with pedals W wheel Like Cocaine like I don’t know what’s it’s just like they just knocks 300 grams off every build waste so he’s done a he’s done a actually I’ll send you this link if you want to put a photo in from this this was this was in 20 December 2023 I’m kind I’m looking at this build I’m going you know that’s a probably a pretty nice that’s pretty light for as I said uh a couple of weeks back and it people liked it for a chunked out Arrow bike that’s pretty impressive so I that’s what I’ve come up with I’m actually surprised that at that weight that’s that’s that’s impressed me a size 56 too yeah no 206 Watts I’d take that yeah take 206 yeah um I did kind of wonder why Buzz seems to have gone a bit out of the wind space but it never really crossed my mind to recommend wind space bike and this was kind of noted to me by Peter the guy in the cycling Hub he did a review of it detailed review of of their new wind space agile agile yep and like Fally got couple thousand views but I remember the days when like wind space reviews were 100ks yep the the the level of excitement about like I think cam like cam nichols’s Channel apart from the giant TCR his channel was like built on some really good wind space reviews and even um the NorCal Channel had sort of done comparison reviews of it and people were really into what’s this wind space brand like all about it long ago no so cam Nichols three years ago he’s got three videos with winspace that are over 100,000 views each three of them and that was only three years ago I remember them like I remember when they came out and we were like oh wow like what is this and now we’re only yeah we’re only three years removed this is so this specific bike’s their agile it’s it’s their one bike to do it all like I didn’t even know it was launched I mean even um so Grant had done a few first look videos yeah sorry performance First Look videos again like 8K all right and that translates to my sort of interest on it as well so I don’t know whether it’s just the fact that you know you got the Telos of the world the Yos of the world that are sort of all filling that space and that people don’t need to know anymore that is this actually going to snap in two yeah is that all it is maybe so potentially that’s a good thing that that that weird curiosity of what the hell is this is G kind of died down a little bit I I also think that there’re still only frame sets I feel like it’s just matured like there’s just not that many people You’ kind of everyone’s seen them not changing that much and like yeah more brands are going to come out doing them but it won’t be until I when they if you can start do if they do direct to Consumer complete builds where you can get them easier that when people are then shopping around they’re probably going to go to the more because how many people are like Trace V in the garage with a frame set it’s kind of Niche so when that starts to happen I reckon you see like another wave of that interest but right now it’s all still frame sets and what when did that wind space t500 come out out for like three four years it’s kind of what about the new one no less less interest yeah I think the new one actually looks pretty the aike or the the agile the agile it looks kind of looks fine yeah but then like it’s not an option like because it’s only G to it’s only going to get more popular if people are legitimately shopping around for it but who buying a new bike you like and you you’ve sold me on this concept like the way you sat there the other week talking about like how you were able you pie putting this on and that on you decided not to do this you wanted to do that like I actually came away from that thinking that’s that’s cool I love the I really like the idea of doing that yeah but I mean the vast minority of people that can be bothered or even know what even care most people it’s too much so but they are the YouTube that’s why the YouTube numbers surprised me because that’s the YouTube people I would have thought that are rather oh [ __ ] the new new wind space is out let’s like get a get a full review of it no seemingly not so or is it just the problem that now everyone knows what wisp space is people less inclined to I think that’s it because I wonder whether they’re actually spear oh what’s the sick of spear Dave Arthur did a video on everyone’s sick of spear because no one knows what it is yeah yeah yeah all just coming out of the same old it’s different brand on him all coming out of XDS P Talk’s going to be on one he’s getting on the China program what’s he going to be on he an Instagram story the other day he’s got one everyone’s you just got look at you look at you is there full fomo Chris Miller just cuz you’re mainstream bloke no there’s a there’s a weight limit on the Tas you got to be over 80 KS to ride it I reckon that must be what it is so I know that’ be interesting very interesting to hear hear the big man’s thoughts I’m very nervous what if we have have completely different writing yeah he’ll rip it apart and you’ll be you’ll be there going best best ride ever this is a won’t try and do the accent but yeah um didn’t didn’t manage to catch up with him there’s there’s rumors though of a peak talk to an an under appearance oh okay send send money to a GoFundMe page now link down below Peak that’s a long it’s pretty good though to I know you’ve never been but good it was fun especially like if you’re in the northern hemisphere in January oh that’s true it’s a lot better than the northern hemisphere in January bikes riding them you um you ride bikes um and sometimes you ride them pretty fast you you’re intending to ride them progressively faster as the year goes on one way me saying you’re going to so this kind of interest me so I I’d like to know what your goals are or when when your goals if you have any are on the bike for the next four 6 8 months and like how you approach approach that from a okay there’s my goal I’m going to start training now type thing and throw into that mix the fact that there are more variables in your life now than there were a year ago MH and how you factor that in does it factor in do you just have you just lowered the the bar completely to make everything a little bit more achievable so what when are the goals what are the goals uh next one has been is Amy’s Grand Fondo so that’s mid-september so what I’ve been doing prior to up until this point is just training for for maintenance just so I don’t completely fall off what does that look like and what is that like cuz I I think it yeah sorry what what does that mean it’s not I ride three or four times a week and hopefully I’ve if if I’m just sort of tired I’m just turning legs over I’ll just do endurance for an hour hour and a half other than that I’m just doing it I’m I’m literally just doing a zone four effort doing an effort so that’s you it’s like and because I live so close in Centennial Park like my ideal maintenance week is 4 hours of riding and it’s almost 100% in zone 4 and so do the mass there an hour riding at low Zone 4 so let’s say it’s 100 TSS per ride I do let’s say I do that four times a week that’s 400 TSS I’m still losing Fitness at that rate but that that maintains most of my fitness aerobically so that when I then kick off training for you know next thing I’m not starting from you know so you find Zone 4 to be a really valuable place to be from a maintenance perspective the most efficient like not necessarily technically if I wanted to main int actually more intensity is better in terms of Maintenance it’s just that when I’m uh I don’t like this is purely personal I don’t really like doing V2 Max work especially I’m not fit it’s just horrible it hurts so I but but you know lock me in you know for for 30 40 minutes doing an effort around Centennial Park at a nice speed and it’s sort of uncomfortable but it’s not lung burning pain I find that more sustainable to do couple times a week for a few months while not tell me to G and do like sets of 303s or something not going to happen it’s just too painful so uh but there perfect well I would be doing more of a mix and doing more zone five zone six work so then you said late September so we n weeks away n weeks away this it’s my birthday this week I’m turning 30 so it’s after that so from next week eight full training weeks until Amy’s Grand Fondo thankfully I’ve actually been doing like a decent amount of training my has been ticking up because we did that candille I lifted a little bit from there I got eight weeks to kind of dial things in a little bit and what will that look like I you know let me because it’s not planned out so it’s it I can’t it’s not like I would show you uh firstly I will ride more often that’s the main thing so instead of riding three or four days a week and that means in there there’s usually my average maintenance week there’s like at least two off back toback off days in a row each week which try and avoid that when I’m training so try and go more often so maybe instead I’ll try and ride five days a week so there’ll be increase in frequency I’ll also try and increase the volume too so right now I don’t do any long rides I haven’t ridden more than two hours for ages so I’ll try and bring in a a longer ride I’ll do that this is off the top of my head because I haven’t planned anything anything um I also to lose a few kilers because right now I’m I think I’m still 8384 kilos and Amy’s grandf was healing it starts up a 20-minute climb not super steep but I’m in a w defer if I have to try and get 84 kilos up there so I need to tidy things up diet wise so that’ll be a diet thing okay and I L when I say tidy things up I literally mean I know what to eat to get my weight down I know why I’m 84 and not 78 so I will make the diet changes and then slowly my weight should come down if I’m back at 80 you know in September that would be nice so so three three four kilos off that would be good um the thing is though I don’t have any outcome goals for any of this I don’t have a weight goal I don’t have a fitness goal it’s all process changes and habit changes wherever I get to that’s so good I is my threshold going to go up 20 watts 30 Watts 10 watts am I going to lose 2 kilos or 5 kilos I don’t even know it’s just I’m making all the I’ll make all those changes I’ve already started my training frequency to test this new bike but yeah basically from next week it’ll just make be making all those changes if I stick to it I know that I will be in a better position in September but I don’t know like I’m don’t not chasing some yeah that’s interesting like cuz it’s having known you and watched you do you know insane training blocks obviously before whenever that Nationals thing was and then seeing you since then like abbreviated version versions of that you’ve always improved so you you like you’re like a switch the switch goes and then the coil curve begins where just every week it just slowly gets better better and better and better and yeah I I again I’d be interesting to see if that continues but me but but me at dinville is not even close to like me Nationals oh God a year before so it’s an improvement from you know it’ll be Improvement in September from me in this episode but that’s still probably 20% off oh God you like actual and that’s the other thing that is kind of unfair like when you are an elite athlete and then you don’t totally rack it when you start retraining again I only need to my level 20% off is still quite good and I’ll get there really fast so I it’s it is quite un it’s not unfair because I put the work in to do that but it is not you know it’s not realistic like that rate of improvement is just ridiculous I admit that yes but do you ever get because one of the you don’t see many people stay in the sport who were pretty like good Elite athletes they tend to sort of drop off and do you think a lot of that is because the mind [ __ ] of well that’s what I used to be I know I can’t be that person again because of life and actually being okay with that you know what I mean like I’m not going to mention names of people but I know plenty of people that we used to race against who have essentially ractice like they they might do the odd weekend ride but they’re certainly not going to try and do Amy’s Grand Fondo like yourself and I think well I think those people that were that good probably do just sort of burn out and move on they want to move on different so I think it’s quite a rare and then a lot of people that are still hanging around but and are quite good are probably more of the guys that never were like fully Elite on the cusp or they’ve gotten into it or they might be quite talented but they’ve got it into it a bit later maybe they’re a master’s guy I just think it’s my journey is just unique it is from where I’m at now so it’s just not that common like yeah most of the guys that were as good and as fit as I was probably just either in the world two been paid to ride podcast 6 years later still training you know se you know with a good man of flexibility where they can still train quite a bit yeah it’s just not it just doesn’t happen so it’s yeah it just looks from the outside people probably looking at St going what is this this guy hardly trains it’s like yeah but no one really does this it’s just odd yeah like even to to yeah like Richie Port has stayed fit and I did yeah I can say now I went for a ride with him in Akuna Bay there a couple of weeks back and he was saying all the people there they were kind of industry heads and they’re all doing the chat of so amazed you stayed fit like you know I just shocked you stayed fit and Richie’s like that’s like this is what I do I’m not a like I’m not a electrician I’m not a doctor like all I’ve ever known to do is to be a fit athlete like I I can’t just stop doing that I have to do that well he did do that for a while cuz remember there were some photos of him from maybe a year and a half ago blow it was a good blowout HEI himself back in shape as he oh he didn’t like it didn’t like it okay yeah and he he’s just a competitive [ __ ] like he just really is competitive and he did take the Akuna Steeps side K that day which is some good there’s some good wax up there like some good Riders of had a crack and it’s like that was literally he’s just like oh I’m going to go for a another lap I’m like all right cool whatever next minute he’s come back and he like just put 15 seconds into like a two-minute K that has been ridden a gazillion gazillion times and it was like a training ride for you know Matt denim’s on there like it’s it’s a top list of guys and I can tell you right now that were not good not good conditions on a segment that is condition like useful so especially the the false flat bit once you get over the top of a coona and it goes goes on supposedly someone’s flagged his ride oh no yeah ah there’s there’s a few other [ __ ] but even that’s quite a rare very of because what most of the X Pros it’s just full blowouts like Do you think that some of those massive review numbers were…click farmed?
Sorry gotta double post this week (again).
Jasper did a two part video tour of the winspace factory a week or two back. I thought it was really interesting to see.
Not to knock the pedals but 4iiii cranks are a reliable superlight option. The lightest option for adding power.
remco might lose ten minute in a high mountain and second day go in breakway and destroy whole peloton and wear yellow jersy, cool story
I think Stuyvens attack was stupid. I don't know why he attacked, out of that group I would have backed him or Turgis in a sprint against any of them…
subscriber questions… best aero bike money can buy (aero, lightweight, can change bar/stem options) – Pinarello Dogma F?
once again the Tour "gravel" stage like Strada Bianchi proves you don't need a "gravel" bike LOL #spendmymoney
Best aero bike 2024? I reckon it’s my 2019 rim brake Trek Madone SLR8 built up with Shim DA 12sp and Enve SES 4.5 wheels. Weighs 7.3kg all in and you can run any bar/stem combo you like. 🔥
S5 allows a separate handlebar and stem, they have an adapter for it
41:30 jayco, UAE, Movistar, etc tem diversos governos metidos no ciclismo já…
Watching with my wife who know nothing about cycling says “so what, he’s like John Candy in Cool Runnings” re Vinokourov backing Cavendish 😂
Another excellent delivery lads. Enjoying these longer chats you are putting out.
Stannard's win was iconic. Quite agree with JC!
Stannard winning against the three QS hitters is definitely in my top 10 most memorable cycling moments.
On the Aero Bike discussion, the Cannondale SSEVO4 lab71 tests faster than the SL8 with it's hidden cables, and is a hair heavier. Plus you can put whatever fancy bars you want on it. You can run the Lab71, put CRW wheels and a Farsports bar on it, GP5000TT rear and Aero111 Front tire, and you'd be right near the UCI limit for a bike faster in the wind than an SL8.
Little less comfy than the sl8, yes, but technically the question didn't come from that.
Also, I was the roadsuit you guys shipped to Massachusetts a couple weeks back, fits great!
27:54 Can anyone comment on one sided and two sides? What is the difference?
"best price money can buy" = "price is not a consideration"
The father, the son, and the holy spirit: Bjarne Riis, Michael Rasmussen, Jonas Vingegaard
I got 1 out of 19. The stress riser created by Trek is a wonderment to me. In another life I designed machinery in a manner that avoided stress risers..
Great pod. Loved the gravel stage I thought it was super interesting, next time would be great with a few hills to spice it up, but a gravel stage helps break up the monotony of endless boring sprint stages. Definitely don't want to see "chunky" gravel, but some light gravel is cool. No cobble stages in the tour please. Love that Favero is supporting you guys, you deserve it. Love when Jessie talks about his training too. Thanks!
Video of Vlasov: yes he probably had a concussion, however the stumbling was more probably because of his foot position on the grass/road transition and that he broke his ankle.
Best aero bike ? Giant Propel SL . No competition.
Cobbles and gravel… Stop it! It´s 2024 for crying out loud.
The white Giant is awful!
Jessie, very excited to hear you are doing Amy's Gran Fondo. I'm a newbie cyclist and an absolute 'super' MAMIL. I was laughing when you said the first climb is a 20 mins effort. I am doing all sort of calculation and I would be happy if I can finish this climb in 70 mins. My only target is to finish this event within 7hr 30min time cut. 😂
It will be fun to hear your post event episode.
a bit of an additional info. on XDS. if you were looking for a bike shop in china, you are more likely to run into a GIANT, MERIDA or XDS in that order by popularity.
The fact I got all the bikes 100% Right 💯😂
I'm amazed Chris didn't get the Giant with those ridiculous bottle cages
Those shoes look like they are made 15 years ago and for beginners
Greatest pro racing moment – Mathew Hayman winning Paris Roubaix – a domestique does it on his own!
I realized after today's tour stage that chris looks exactly like a shorter jasper philipsen
The cycling moment that lives forever in my mind is stage 11 of the '22 tour, when Jonas and Primoz are giving Pog 1-2 attacks with hours left in the stage. Incredible.
Wanna feel great for Cav's record but has a massive smear riding with that team.
7/19 😂
The black and white s works shoes are traditional colourway for the development shoes. It’s advertising
They did the same with Cav white special edition years ago. His bike had black logos but the retail ones were white on white
