Here is the second part of the lesson Henry and I had with Jaime. (1st episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsQ4XJD9yJU&t=18s) In this portion of the lesson we began focusing more on Jaime’s hand path which was making life difficult. At the beginning of the lesson he had a noticeable loop with his hands and arms. Along with the tension he had, this was contributing to some of the back pain he was experiencing after swinging.

Through various exercises and drills, we were able to simplify his pattern so his hands moved more or less up and down the plane to better align with his improved hip movements. By the end, Jaime was really putting some nice moves on the ball and the pain he experienced previously was reduced. I hope you enjoy this lesson and look forward to your thoughts!

that was cool who hit that ball I think one of the things I’ve thought about in the past is like really trying to Loop so I can feel my brain wanting to I want to go like this and then like like this so it feels good though I want to get rid of some of the arm Loop and you can Loop the the center mass of the head all you want I don’t care about that but okay yeah his pelvis is moving so much better now hang on go ahead no you’re going to hit okay I’m going to block you okay we’re going to start the the motion so just start your motion n don’t hit you got to stay away from the stick the reason it’s there is for you not to touch it there you go feel that I’ll move out of the way once you get the wind up so show me good now hit it yeah okay okay ready y turn it back that’s fine how’d that look Henry that was good let your let your head and eyes get down to the ball relax your neck yeah look straight through your glasses at it okay now stay inside of that there it is yeah I can feel that is that different yeah that stick really makes it like it’s very hard for me to not hit that stick so I can tell my brain when I put it there you like knocked it out of the way yeah I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to go along in no no no you’re supposed to miss it okay it’s here and you’re the goal is you’re going to turn inside of it okay now let the arms float let’s keep doing that so just inside the stick pretty good yeah that feels good it already feels better too on my uh like my back so let’s see that again turn see how I want you to wind even farther give me more stretch get that right pocket around farther behind you have we turned it into a golf swing yet yeah it’s getting better pelvis is in a way better position pelvis is moving bettering the ball with my hips well look at so you got to we got to actually put a wall in there this is really good yeah Booty’s back yeah chest is down now when you go through the ball we got some incline in your belt line yeah it’s going to come off eventually but this is really good now I would love to see your arms get up higher see how your left arm is under your shoulder plane so feel more this turn a little bit more like that okay now change directions by Falling Down and letting that just stay back okay but we’re you’re already going to be okay with your back now so you you can play golf with what you got so it’s got to turn in turn it in and then up was that better that was so cool turn it in up okay good I’m done that’s pretty good I got to watch one from on my own now so imagine that white sticks there you got to turn it in under it I need the arms up more at the top okay yes I started wanting to take a full swing yeah well you this is a full swing we’re just keeping the pace under control okay so I want full range of motion just you’re in control of the amount of that’s coming out okay so really turn that system in now do that one more time in up now let this all just float get your chest down so uh explain to me float your hands don’t they don’t do this okay I want your hands to feel like they’re just kind of hanging out okay and your the thing that’s going to aim that that club at the ball is your chest okay so how do you when you’re a hitter how do you control how high you swing the bat so a pitch is in a different place what do you do to control where the back goes you change the incline of the shoulder plane right yeah so if if the pitch is high boom I turn high if the pitch is down low yeah boom I turn down I turn at it right okay same thing here we want to you’ve got to go and get your torso pointed more that direction okay inside with your wind up hand in okay set up there we’re going to take the club out of your hands for a minute okay I want you to put your hands like imagine you’re holding a beach ball under the water okay now I want you to keep holding that ball under the water and just turn your body wind wind wind wind feel how you’re kind of pushing it away from yourself that’s staying in the middle of you but it’s following this Arc right okay keep winding wind keep going keep going perfect now you’re going to drop and unwind it you feel that yeah that’s what I want you to feel okay so you got to keep pushing that thing kind of down and away from you that way you never lift it up okay yeah not bad just wind a little longer for me so you’re going to turn a little farther you’re going to let your hands float up a little higher that was pretty decent yeah that felt really long for me like I felt like I was like it was good you actually got your body to turn now always seem to let the wrist kind of soften up for you his wrists are just a little bit rigid so turn it up now we’re going to really feel a little bit more of feel how I loaded this part of your y you’re going to feel a little more Trail wrist extension that’s an exaggeration but okay and then in transition now your wrists are really loaded okay so feel a little of that for me turn it in up yeah okay bullet draw overdid the the twist but that’s good let’s have you aim a little bit more toward the red flag you’re aimed like yeah okay good so turn it in and up sweet you can hit draws now what’s your normal ball flight fade yeah yeah yeah big wipy one it’s good you see the difference in how his body’s moving I want to keep feeling like that right back pocket is getting farther around behind you and then as you so do that again wind it up now you’re going to feel like in transition it goes that way so your butt kind of goes on a 45 okay yes okay so ball forward feet a lot squarer than what you’re comfortable with that was different right yeah oh yeah you’re moving away from it instead had it so wind it all the way up and freeze for me good now in transition I just want you to feel a little flex your arms are kind of feel like your arms are kind of stretching up as you as your pelvis drops that creates a little bit of up stretch in your arms y now everything just goes around Wham okay pretty close give him some aim sticks take it back to me slowly so I really want you to feel that it’s under that that first part of the takeway so your hands stay in remember when you attach to your so you’re really feeling feel out that’s all kind of together and as that’s happening we can start beginning to load this just a little bit okay okay the issue he runs into and he wants to go in is he wants to make his arm go in he needs to get his Center to turn it yeah yeah okay so your arms basically stay that triangle stays intact for a little while okay we shift to the right we wind the triangle so wind wind wind keep winding keep winding now elevate it now go ahead and hit it okay that was different yeah you feel that yeah so I want you to be really deliberate for a minute in how you wind that triangle up don’t watch it I’ll tell you if it was good yeah hit the start line you could just have his right arm under the left set set up there you go yeah feel how you I can see your left arm now okay I really feel like you turn that triangle in wow yeah game on that was cool got a golf swing that was so good now make sure you give me enough winding of torso that last one was more winding in the arms not enough winding in your actual body there you go how wound you are there we’ve got to get you to wind like that so be really deliberate in how you start this first two or three feet that swing was pretty darn close that was good yeah that feels a lot more uh athletic and free flowing versus like cuz I think I actively try not to hinge my wrist at all like I think I just I think I try to just like lock this out and then do things almost always when you don’t use your wrists and hands enough it moves to the next segment in the chain which is elbows yeah so then you start seeing yeah like this pull behind you which pulls the left arm too much into you and you’re just bound up so we want to let you know your wrists have got to do their part they’re kind of important sound of that is just like oh that’s really Co rockets that one had a little freedom to it yeah it did he just started get it to start right at that orange stick okay and get to kind of stay out there too close that’s really good that feels yeah no that looks like you’re not going to go home crying that you have back pain that feel that feels totally different yeah cuz what you were doing was definitely hurting you 100% yeah wow that was cool that was cool who hit that ball that was pretty good give me one or two more like that and I’m done she just doesn’t quite get the turn finished and the loading of the wrists finished and that’s why you started a little left oh he’s got so much more speed now too and it’s like not even drying I can feel it it’s just very hard for me it’s super unnatural right so like I’m I’m thinking a lot but I can totally feel how much one how much better it is too much how like Feer it is is and I think I can start to feel the the finishing the turn thing is that’s hard for me like like I said it feels like you know I feel I have to feel like I turn to hear probably to even just get to hear cuz I’m so used to being not doing that well you’re used to using your arms your arms are the and he’s told me that before like he’s like dude you’re just like he uses those [Laughter] pipes the problem is little skinny guys who can turn really nicely can can kick your butt oh yeah oh yeah that last one was really good did you see that yeah started on a nice line hit it solid it’s good finish off on one really nice one okay so that that one you just hit you created the nice trigger but you went this way so see how this this is all lined up over here yeah it’s got to get around behind you it’s got to start going back the other way that’ll go with more of an inside side takeway too yeah if I don’t wind up that hip see where everything wants to go yep it helps you okay yeah and it draws nice job sweet that’s all I got
