The Rolex Series returns to the DP World Tour as The Renaissance Club hosts the Genesis Scottish Open. This year is the third time this event has been co-sanctioned with the PGA TOUR as 75 players from both tours will compete. Rory McIlroy returns to defend his title and make his first appearance since his runner-up finish at the U.S. Open. McIlroy the claimed Hero Dubai Desert Classic earlier this year and was victorious in the Wells Fargo Championship on the PGA Tour in May. Since then, he hasn’t finished worse than tied 15th, which includes a tied 12th at the US PGA Championship and the solo second finish at Pinehurst. Tommy Fleetwood will also be teeing it up in Scotland. Across his last four starts in this event, the world number 11 has finished in the top ten on three occasions and missed out on victory in a play-off against Aaron Rai in 2020. He also claimed 3T at the Masters and has been no worse than a tie for 26th in his last six starts. Ludvig Åberg is in the field this week. The Swede brilliantly claimed 2T on his Masters debut in April and played well for a 12T finish at the US Open three weeks ago. Others to look out for include Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Viktor Hovland.

shot there is a bunker down there Little Valley in the green reasonably well judged it wasn’t easy having to land it in the little Hollow you can get it to chase up but this is as massive as it as it comes birdie at three gives it straight back there at for Mel Roy Rory unleashing on five he can reach but he’s just come out of it a little bit I think just coming off a bogey that’s all right there within two hardest hole on the golf course not surprised 500 into the brze big bunker in the middle of the Fairway generally they try and play down the right right hand side just where I think that done Rory he gets the 12 under two [Applause] behind just snuck in didn’t it he’s got a par five next he catch the bank on the right oh creepy creepy come on stay now sit sit see my dogs do the to so maoy second at 10 that’s for eagle will it come back will it come back it will try beautiful part a birdie like all right it’s the 78 hour that’s all is he saying stay in the air wants it to go a little oh and it has a beautiful iron shot from r 15 ft across the green it’s a bit longer than that I thought his T-shirt was a lot closer just come up Shy I think judging by that [Applause] keep ah head of steam up R left himself just a flick in go on get out on The Fairway now it’s a very good angle to the flag up this left side to 15 mroy as you say can a great angle [Applause] here meanwhile to mroy really good chance for Rory oh just keep coming keep coming that’s getting better and better isn’t it virally carbon coffee that’s exactly what he did he sneaked it around the tradesman’s entrance not had a birdie since the 10th but he’s given him some some chances hasn’t he my goodness thought he had that oh get in my hole this is right of [Music] right so few players actually get it on the little ledge at the back seen a few where that ball is on the Green it’s easy to knock this past oh sit down wand off the back and it has done very similar to Tommy Fleetwood a little bit earlier there’s no point being greedy on [Applause] this ooh that has the capital s in smelly beautifully done solid as a rock 67 for Rory [Applause] mroy around of 67 the last couple of days you said you’ve left a couple out there I suspect it’s more of the same yeah it is um you know 4 under through1 today uh and then yeah similar sort of you know the birdies dried up uh kept hitting good shots um especially the last few holes missed a you know like I think a three eight Footers on on 15 16 17 for birie that I didn’t convert and then um you know Boogie and the last so the last four holes I’ve probably played them the the worst that I could um which is unfortunate because I felt like I could have been right up there um sort of at 15 under around the lead uh and to give one away at the last is disappointing but you know depending on what the what the guys do coming in um you know I’ll be within three or four and at least still still have a shot if I get off to a good start tomorrow you’ve come from behind 14 times on the PJ tour to win since 2010 that’s six times more than any other player so you know what you’re doing how do you go about this mentally and tactically when you are chasing somebody’s ahead of you yeah I mean I think it’s sort of similar to what Bob did today you know you get off to a good start and you sort of try to ride that momentum um you know I didn’t get off to quite as fast of a start uh on the front line as I did yesterday um but that’s sort of what I’m going to need tomorrow going to need to be at least 300 through five um you know to get myself right up there around the lead and then from there just try to keep it going no one has ever successfully defended the Scottish open how special to have that opportunity yeah it’s good to have the opportunity um as I said I wish I was a you know two or three shots better off but um yeah it’s a it’s another opportunity to to go out there and and try to win a a very prestigious uh tournament
