We use weighted balls to add variability in our training!

all right want to talk a little bit about about variability here uh weighted balls we like to use weighted balls just above and below the bandwidth of a normal throw like 4 oz 5 oz 6 oz maybe up to 7 oz but we also like the unpredictable nature of it and so as we wrote about in our book uh constraint SL approach to baseball coaching Rob gray and I mentioned that it’s probably good to make those really random like you can’t predict what what kind of ball you’re going to have so we like to do this double play exercise it adds a little time pressure to the back hip and also we can we can mix in a little variability with different weighted balls so Billy’s going to show us the variability of weighted ball double plays there we go with a 6 o ball there this one’s a 4 o and then we mix in a base ball but we would do those in no particular order just randomly mix them all up really good way to add some variability to your throwing and work on back hip internal rotation Dynamics
