okay Eric we are going to talk about today how to start the golf swing we go I see so many players ask me okay what starts do I feel like I move the club head the hands the shift the pressure now we know that there is if we’re chucking everyone into the lab a specific sequence that the best players in the world all do yep however the golf swing is done in less than a second right so we need to have a certain drill or exercise which will help initiate the golf swing in such a way where we don’t need to think about the complexities and you have a fantastic exercise that I saw on YouTube channel mate talking all about how to start this golf swing in such a way that everyone can do it yeah I I just call it Dynamic takeaway drill um basically we’re going to start just here we’re just going to get start forward because you know we want to see and you’re going to notice here the pressure shifts that car was talking about that we don’t have to think about when doing this you’ll just start that club forward there and then when this club goes back you’re going to notice the body has to take it back like not moov you don’t see me moving this with my hands do anything like this the only way for me to get from here to here and you know I say it’s pointing the center field when we get to here and that’s our big checkpoint yeah we get here toes down a little bit and we’re in the center field and that’s what we’re trying to it’s hard to do it wrong yeah perfect perfect and the the only thing that you probably will get wrong here is just moving the club that without rotating your chest so when you get set up here guys what I want you to do is make sure that your head is staying relatively in the same position and just rotate imagine there’s a big Spotlight coming out of your chest your chest and your Club head moves forward and we’re gonna say how much a foot two yeah I think you want to get in front of your foot by probably front foot by a foot yeah yeah perfect so and then from here i’ like to see it get over here a little bit too yeah yeah yeah yeah perfect from here now I’m in this position I’m feeling like I’m active right the whole purpose of this is to kind of do it in one motion you don’t want to go Okay now what’s next from there set up rotate the chest slightly forward now I feel all of a sudden because of that movement I’m actually getting a little bit of pressure starting to load up or feel like it wants to load up in that trail side hug and you see this with the world’s longest drivers as well if you watch my recent swing speed video series of trying to break 130 mph uh Steve furlonger had me all about pushing down as hard as I could here to start my driver swing and I actually was doing exactly what Eric’s telling us here it’s not just for Speed it’s just for sequencing which then leads to this effortless speed isn’t it yeah I mean that’s how we want to get speed it’s through sequencing at first right effortless perfect so from here rotating forward and then it’s almost it just encourages me to feel like I’m going to have a little bit of a pressure shift but then as I go back Eric I want you to make mention to the flow of that motion it’s not snatchy at all is it no I mean and that’s the big thing we want to learn how to do in the regular takeaway is that we want to move this with our body first feeling those pressure STS you’re talking about you you’re going to notice doing this drill we’ve moved more into our front foot yeah we got to be if we’re going to move backwards with pressure we better be on our front foot to move back or we can’t go there yeah so you’ll notice with this is we should to move the pressure before this club I didn’t do anything and look at the handle the club face gets out here the handle gets closer to my thigh but I did not do any movement all I did was pressure shift to get to here yeah and then after that we’re turning to get it up and there’s a reason that you will see a lot of the best golfers in the world have a bit of a hover motion with their golf club before they take it away they’ll have a waggle they’ll be stomping their feet lightly up and down and then if I actually just push that weight forward well now all of a sudden my body’s in motion to be able to essentially facilitate the movement of this golf club to put it into a position where it is going to be loaded ready for that next piece coming into the down swing yeah and it’s going to feel light yeah you’re going to feel so light up here yeah it’s just you know you’re in a good position when it feels nice and light too and we see so many recreational golfers almost have like the club stuck in the ground because they’re just vibrating with tension over the ball and this is a great exercise to bring awareness now I think Eric what we’re going to do is we’re going to blend this into a bit of a two-piece thing what we’re going to do is we’re going to make sure the players at home are waggling the club head up and down we’ve got a secure hold but relaxed long arms is key from there we’re going to make sure that we move the chest in the club as one piece together and then that’s going to start the flow of the golf swing to then position the golf club back here so the answer to how to start the golf swing Eric is really through Dynamic constant motion you don’t want to feel about the segmented pieces of it because it’s going to get too complex but simple little exercises like this make make a big difference don’t they yeah I mean you can feel exactly how you’re supposed to do it I’d love to hit balls this way too I me it’s a great way to hit balls you’ll just do it up here just a little bit above you’ll take it away and it’s a great way to hit balls to get used to this feeling all right let’s put myself to the test Club into me having it a little bit more forward that’s going to enable me to want to get that pressure so Club up chest and Club forward I’m beautiful
