Wilson Profile Distance Golf Ball Review | Another Wilson Winner

Wilson makes some of the most underrated golf balls on the market. One particular area that Wilson really excels in is the cheap two piece market. We already know the Wilson Zip is one of the best there is, can this ball compete?

hey guys what is up welcome back to the channel I have another golf ball review for you today and we are doing the Wilson Profile golf ball usually these Wilson golf balls like this sometimes really surprise us and sometimes end up as some of the best golf balls on the channel so I’m excited about this one let’s dive in okay so Wilson has a really big Market when it comes to these know inexpensive two-piece golf balls um a lot of people go to Walmart and just kind of Overlook them you know they think they’re for really high handicappers um and sometimes that is the case sometimes that is how it’s supposed to be um but they have probably six or seven balls at a time that they’ve got spread out over different retailers online um and I got to admit the Wilson Profile when I came across this bald not too long ago it kind of surprised me because I had not heard of this one before um as many people on the channel know the Wilson zip which is a dollar a golf ball ended up as our number two golf ball out of a hundred so I mean like it is possible for these golf balls to be really really good sometimes um but again Wilson has so many of them that it’s hard for me to keep track you know they have chaos and they have Smart Core and they have profile and they have zip and they have there there’s a lot more in there and sometimes it does get kind of confusing so either way though we like to review these golf balls a lot of them have done really well in the past sometimes it’s really just hit and miss but but I’m always excited to try another one and let’s dive in here let’s start of course well let’s start with the price okay uh so most of the time with golf balls espec especially in this Wilson kind of Walmart two-piece line whatever you want to call it budget um they’re around the dollar or golf ball range but I was actually pleasantly surprised to see that one first of all the only place you can get this golf ball is Amazon and two it’s at a price point of $31 and some change for 36 golf balls which ends up being around 85 cents a piece which is really really good I mean that’s I had to go back and do some research and that is the least expensive per golf ball I’ve ever tested before um I’ve tested I think one time a 95 Cent or 98 Cent per golf ball but 85 cents 86 cents per golf ball is by far the cheapest and that’s insane it hopefully the performance will keep up but when the value is that low if this golf ball can even just kind of keep up that’s pretty good that’s pretty good I’m not going to lie so let’s dive into the design it’s going to be pretty basic actually it’s really not that bad I like the font they use Wilson has I wish uh I like Wilson’s staff logo better but they have that Big W up top Profiles In Blue actually I like the font looks pretty good um more of a modern style opposed to a more traditional style with the more upper echelon of their golf balls come around on the side there and it just says distance that’s a very uh poor excuse for an alignment tool but I don’t expect a lot it’s it’s a cheap golf ball but here’s what I will do though I’m going to take my golf dot here which I actually have these I love them for this well terrible terrible pour by the bartender but it’s on there now so as as you can see now we have a decent alignment tool all right yeah so that’s on there other than that it feels kind of plasticky it does feel cheap um but like I said it is cheap so let’s go ahead and go out to the chipping and putting green and let’s see how it does around there all right so Wilson Profile here um I really don’t have any expectations I mean it’s a two-piece distance ball I mean my imagine I imagine what’s going to happen is it’s just going to be pretty much no spin oh yeah actually maybe negative spin I mean that was not a good hit but yeah zero spin in there let’s try again all right I think I’m just going to move to the putting motion because the ball’s coming off so hot yeah wow it’s just it’s so hot you know I’ve already used this ball for quite a few shots um I’ll try to wow it’s it takes such little effort to get this golf ball To Go the Distance you want it um now that’s not necessarily a bad thing that could be a good thing for a lot of beginner or intermediate players no you’re not going to get that stopping power but I tell people all the time especially you know newer golfers you don’t need stopping power necessarily it’s only when when you become an advanced golfer and you start being able to kind of place your shots exactly where you want them that’s when you can start thinking about that but when you’re a newcomer to the game there is no shame being off the green taking I have a a 54 degree wedge here but taking like an eight iron or something and just bump and running it like this I mean and I mean again a little too much I mean a little too much past the hole a little too left it it’s crazy how hot this golf ball comes off it almost gets no air whatsoever I’m going to open the face a little bit I’m going to try to get some air opening the face here I’d really liked it I’m just going to do a little putting motion is that the one oh that’s beautiful okay I it took me a few tries there’s a learning curve with it cuz like I said I’ve been testing these really spinny golf balls so now that I went back to this I have to kind of find find my groove again and I have to find the right and it’s just crazy you know on on a golf ball before where I had to do this on this one I have to do this and it’s that’s a learning curve because I’m just I’m used to the ball stopping uh again I don’t know what my expectations are with this one I expected to feel pretty Dead coming off of a mallet uh but oh wow I yeah I killed it wow I I I mean I thought I really tapped that I really thought you know when I hit it I almost thought in my head ah Nick you got to hit it uh yeah no that’s wow this golf ball has a ton of spring off of it I mean I’m just going to try to hit it as soft as I can really you got to be kidding me it’s still going to roll past the hole um I I guess I’ll go a little softer okay there we go finally one short I goodness uh okay so now the blade putter boy a lot easier to find the pace with the blade putter for sure that Mallet was just clobbering it all right so General thoughts uh look I know I was getting frustrated there it’s not the golf Ball’s fault the golf ball actually all things considered I was decently impressed with uh as far as feel off the wedges and everything it felt pretty darn squishy and just really soft but also real smooth not soft like you know like super soft like a 30 compression like a Wilson deal but just felt you know soft like like a nice little comforting pillow at night or something like that really impressed with that but if you’re looking for spin here good luck that’s that’s a zero I mean that’s just a zero there’s not an ounce of spin the way I I gauge spin when I’m out here on this practice green even though it’s not a real green is you can tell how the ball reacts after it bounces the first time a lot of the time what I’ll see is the golf ball with a high spinning golf ball will bounce and you’ll kind of just see it frozen like a knuckle ball cuz it has so much spin that now it’s counteracting and so it’ll just kind of stop and then I can see after the roll and everything this golf ball not an ounce I mean it it from the moment it’s back spinning it hits it just front spins like there’s no there’s a complete smooth transition and that’s not a bad thing like I said it just it’s a learning curve you really have to get used to it the last six or seven golf balls I’ve tested all have been pretty decently High Spin and now all of a sudden it’s not checking up anymore and so I have to kind kind of redo my game and that takes time and that’s another reason why I tell you guys so much to find a golf ball and when you find a golf ball you really like start playing it to get consistency because a lot of you guys now are like oh I find what I can play in the yard or I find you know I go out in the woods whatever I find I play well this is the differences you could run into ball a you hit bounce bounce stop Ball B you hit bounce bounce takes off other side of the green down into the sand that’s going to cost you Strokes you can’t tell me it isn’t so interesting there off the putter that’s where I really started to get frustrated with the golf ball it feels good it comes off the club with a really nice roll but boy is it hot I mean I just could not get the pace it’s another one of those things I’d have to come out here and spend two or three nights you know just kind of getting used to the feel and how it goes and how it reacts cuz I’m just not used to that I’ve been playing a lot of tour balls they have a totally different role a totally different feel not used to it Mallet was or Mallet was good for the most part blade putter was just okay um again there’s nothing bad about this golf ball but like I said learning curve was definitely different for me and it could be you too so it performed well just not what I’m used to all right so if I have to describe the feel of this golf ball you know cross all full shots I’m pretty impressed um you know these two-piece golf balls a lot of the time they have a lot of spring to them sometimes they’re a little too soft and I overc compress them especially now that my swing speed’s gone up just a little bit but the reality is this is a d distance golf ball it’s a little firmer than a lot of like the 50 Elite or even the Wilson zip it actually is just a a tad firmer now it’s not clicky it’s not you know shake your hands when you hit it wrong it still feels really really good it’s soft it feels like a rocket there’s a lot of bouncy ball effect here um really love it a lot I’d call it like a eight out of 10 it’s really a good feel I enjoyed hitting it Miss hits really didn’t offer a lot of feedback just because of how soft it is but boy when you hit it in the center you feel like it’s taken off like a rocket so let’s see if those numbers now translate to that let’s start with the 50 yard pitch as always Back Spin uh 5554 that’s EXT extremely low um and it doesn’t surprise me just because again this is a distance golf ball it’s a very inexpensive golf ball what’s going to happen is and I I noticed this too is that uh when I was going through looking at the backspin I noticed that the ball had an extremely high launch um a lot of the time with my 50 yard pitches you know I’m getting around 25 to 27 launch angle somewhere in there depending on the ball sometimes it’s you know low spinning and sometimes a little higher this one was like 32 35 so what this scoff ball is doing is it’s sacrificing its spin for a higher launch which if you’re a newcomer or intermediate there’s nothing wrong with that you know 5,5 uh 54 spin is not going to stop on the green and rip back to you but if it gets up high enough it’s just going to kind of sit and sit right where it is now if you’re playing at a windy course if you’re someone who plays with wind all the time you know you’re on the The Coast or something might end up getting you in a little bit of trouble cuz this Ball’s going to launch a lot higher on these you know wedges and and short irons for sure but eh okay so let’s go ahead and dive into the nine iron as far as your uh stats here 1.29 on your smash factor which is phenomenal uh that’s that’s the best I’ve tested so far I’ve only tested 10 to 12 golf balls with smash Factor but that is the highest by far 27.6 which is slightly above average 127.71 ball mph speed which is above average which is awesome 6,779 so see if you worried about the spin a minute there like oh my goodness it won’t hold a green it’s not going to spin enough as you can see once we get to the full shots it actually is spinning just slightly below what I normally get and then if you look at that launch 27.3 it’s doing the same thing I was just talking about which is it’s compensating for that little bit of lack of spin by just going high up in the air which yes that all evens out but again if you’re playing like I I play at a place where 10 15 mph winds pretty normal it’s tough when you want to keep it out of the wind but if you’re in a pretty stationary area that’s fine also I would like to mention that even though these numbers aren’t fantastic my average swing speed here with the club uh Club head speed 78 as you can see that’s actually pretty low usually I’m around the 80 Mark so I don’t know if that was just a bad day or what but I’m actually 2 mph lower with my swing speed but I’m still getting better than my averages so those numbers if I had a little bit more swing speed would be phenomenal there’s a couple times I got 135 138 the potential is there for sure so let’s go ahead and go to the seven iron 1.39 which again smash Factor that’s the best I’ve tested so far um 16.1 on your distance gained 5 yards 161.5 gained you know 5 yards 115 ball mph speed that’s three more than my average 5,793 which is actually right there with average so again you know spin wise now that we’re hitting full shots not so bad and then a launch angle of 17.6 so it did launch a little lower um I have been launching my seven iron pretty low lately but that’s that’s lower than my average so again really fantastic numbers there I love to see that a lot of the times I’m really surprised by these two-piece golf balls sometimes they just kind of come out of nowhere and do really well and so far these numbers are very very good hopefully we can keep it going with the five hybrid let’s dive in 1.42 on your smash factor which hey that might sound like a broken record at this point but guess what that’s the best I’ve tested so far 183.0 I gained about seven yards there which is really good uh again got 186.65 point5 excellent ball speed number love to see that 4,826 on your spin just slightly below average and it launched 15.2 which is just slightly below mid uh but still pretty decent for a a hybrid for sure so um again those numbers maybe not you know fantastic but they’re very good especially considering the price range we’re in and especially considering the type of ball it is love to see that a lot uh let’s go ahead and you know the driver makes or breaks it so here we go driver smash Factor we are looking at 1.44 which is average I mean that’s average from what I’ve tested uh 223.000 that’s an average number 233.356 or 15 with the driver we’d be looking at you know some serious driver distance numbers I mean seriously some some really high ones that’s just such a low launch I mean it might even be around the 250 range if it had just gotten some more height so um little disappointing there but still really good numbers you know I mean nothing to scoff at okay so before I get into my closing thoughts let’s talk about the durability so looking at this golf ball you know it does look beat up in places I can kind of feel it but it actually feels pretty smooth all the way around it feels like uh it would still do a lot of good but what’s hilarious to me is that normally with golf balls I do around 60 to 80 shots just for my durability test kind of a round to see how it goes I actually use this golf ball in a different video that you’ll see pretty soon um that I did a driver test with and I ended up hitting it 63 times with a driver for that video so now we’re at I think let me see it was 7 was to say roughly roughly about 130 shots with 75 of them being off of a driver so now when you look at this golf ball knowing that yes it looks a tad beat up but I got to say the durability is really darn good this is going to last you quite a while it’s definitely going to last you around if it makes it to that but let’s be honest if you’re using this golf ball more than likely you’re at least using losing a couple around in conclusion you know it’s hard not to be impressed it really is and this is why when so many I see I see all these new comments from guys we have a lot of new subscribers by the way welcome if you’re new love that you’re here but a lot of people are coming on to the channel and commenting on uh the overrated golf ball list that’s blown up and I see all these comments that are like I can’t believe you called the Kirkland overrated you know we’re only playing it because it’s so cheap you know I mean if if I could play a better ball I would but I just it’s so cheap you know I I can’t afford this it’s just a good value and my argument is always guys I understand it’s a value you’re paying a $150 to $1.75 a golf ball but you’re losing distance you’re losing yardages and the the the reason I I harp on that is because this is 86 cents a golf ball and I just gained all my averages you know is it going to stop a green as much as urethane maybe not it’ll be close maybe a yard or two difference most of the time that’s been my findings when I’m out there seeing I mean it’s a yard or two difference when something like this comes along but 86 cents a golf ball and so I’m like why would you lose distances and lose feel and lose experience and play a a bottom 100 golf ball when for a least expensive price you could pay 86 C it’s there I mean is this golf ball going to be in the top 10 probably not but top 20 top 30 absolutely absolutely it will be I mean how can it not it’s extremely cheap it goes straight it goes far it goes High it compensates Wilson does such a phenomenal job at this Market they really have it dialed in on what golf balls need to do when they’re priced at this range and how to offer a good value now I do wish that Wilson would take it back a little bit and not just release so many different kinds like I said chaos 50 elit Z profile Smart Core uh you know I mean you name it they just have all these different ones and it’s it gets confusing I wish they would just kind of come out with a couple and stick to it but hey I I can’t complain it’s another winner from Wilson really good there the only bad side is maybe you know if you don’t want to buy 36 of them and you don’t want to spend 31 bucks but even then you know it’s not as bad as the sugar cube because the sugar cube was 27 golf balls for $65 and so that’s a little harder if you want to try it like 65 is a lot of money but 31 bucks for a dozen is really not even that bad but Al loan for 36 golf balls so guys as always keep watching keep saving keep learning until next time

  1. Great advice. All about consistency in golf. Find a horse and ride it. To me, its all about how it feels off the putter and I prefer a urethane ball for that. But for sure these would probably be a great winter ball.

  2. Great video. I don’t think you ever mess up. I agree with your assessment concerning Kirkland golf balls. I love and use OnCore golf balls. If anyone gets upset with your findings, they should do their own research. I think the best Golf Balls for my game are the OnCore Vero X1. I am currently a 7 handicap playing Mizuno 923 pro irons and Titleist tsr2 driver. I don’t always agree with your findings but the numbers don’t lie. Keep up the great work. My Grandson and I love your videos.

  3. For the cost of the ball and the results, seems like a good buy. As you say, Wilson make too many balls and have no consistency. Some are excellent balls others ( Wilson Ultra) are a waste of space. These appear good value Nick.
