the big question today is how firmly should you hold this golf club before we start don’t forget hit that link below to my website to sign up to go on the waiting list for lessons with me here at whittleby Park Golf Club Now massive question today how firmly do we need to hold a golf club in our hands so many different views and viewpoints of this some say you got to hold it like a baby chick so it’s really really loose some saying you got to grip it like you’re trying to strangle someone one but no neither of those work I’m afraid we have to do this when we’re holding that golf club we have to hold it firm in the fingers but Loose in the wrists firm in the fingers but Loose in the wrist the question is how firm well let’s P it like this we could be swinging this golf club I’ve got a seven IR in my hand here we could swing it s 70 miles hour 80 miles hour some swing it even 90 miles an hour now the thing is we still need to hold on to thing because at 90 miles an hour that thing could easily fly out of our hands so we have to hold on to the golf club with some degree of force so we really have to feel like we’re gripping hold of this golf club clasping it as you were but what we have to make sure happens and this is where it gets a little bit complex but I’m going to keep it really really simple is we need to hold it really firm in our fingers really firm in our hands but we need to allow the wrists and the elbows to do their work for us so we’re holding arm holding this pretty pretty tightly able to make some circles with our Golf Club using our wrists so I’m not going to let go of it no chance of letting go of it but we’re just making good circles using our bit of our elbows but mostly our wrists so I’m not letting that tension I’m creating that firmness I’m creating in my fingers go up my arm into my shoulders I’m letting that firmness go into the hand or go into my hands but stop here when we get to the wrist I’m allowing my wrist to do their work for us because if we don’t use the wrist if it’s really tense and tight then we can’t be we’re not able to swing the golf club remember as I said in previous videos we need to allow the club to be swung using our hands and our arms our body just goes along for the ride however if we’re really gripping hold of it but all that tension is going up our arms and our shoulders when able to use those arms as effectively as we can do and we have to use our body to work that Golf Club into that golf pool so make sure when we hold on to that golf golf club yes we are gripping it pretty firm but we’re allowing to make circles with our wrist we’re allowing the golf club to go around in circles using our wrist but still holding it firm in our fingers so when you get up to your golf ball next time we notice how we can if you do these little Waggles notice Jack Nicholas does these little Waggles what he’s doing he’s taking the tension out of his wrist and his arms he’s taking the tension out of his wrist and his arms arms to really allow the arms to swing that golf club for him so I don’t want you to get up to that golf ball and go really really tense and tight make some circles with the club beforehand still gripping it firm in the fingers but make some circles before we pull the trigger back and then go and we’re just nice and loose on the way through but still holding the thing firm we don’t want to feel like it’s going to fly out of our hands we still want to hold it firm but Loose in no those wrists
