[Music] so what did you get if you get an engineer with plenty of time on his hands in lock down Bruce nice to meet you introduce yourself Bruce and you know a little bit about your background and you know obviously where where we going yeah well I’m I’m Bruce Logan uh worked in engineered normal life uh over 40 40 years offshore oil and gas uh working as welding fabrication at the beginning doing the pipe work in that offshore and then uh went into valve sales and then uh designed a part designed the valve with an Octan shaft uh that was a bit of a difficult uh position and I decided there was more than just evolve to do yeah uh so I started my journey when I was at the 2018 open at KUSI yeah and uh Rory matoy happened to go in the bunker and the camera zoomed in on his soul that said nasty yeah uh that got me thinking and I started sketching out uh a golf shoe we Octan dimples which is created yeah uh so that then led me on to thinking there’s more of the O and and focused on the go so I then created a butter grip fantastic pu with silicon Co and the dimples there are there to represent what is an Octan Ty grip what we what he’s quite Fascinate about these dimples is that you you know you sometimes hold a foot of grip and you just you don’t really feel the grip too much it’s weird I don’t know how to explain this but you really can’t stop like putting your hands on it and pressing and getting a feel for the grip and it almost makes it the you’re conscious about your grip pressure and you don’t want to just squeeze it you’re like you get here and it’s so so soft that material like nice and cushion it it does have a very tacky grip and there’s quite a lot out in the market now uh some of my local golf shops uh Pro Shops stock them so downfield and Dundee for for Brien edel V uh there’s codian f as well we’ve got quite a big audience in America and Canada the world have never seen this product before no so I can’t wait to share it with them guys that’s obviously coming to a gol so from from that Octan uh design I then thought I I’ll brand it for other clubs so I’ve got akur Loney uh coming which is one of the main shops in St Andrews yeah and Royal Dorn have purchased the license for there so I can brand in there and then there’s the football side of yeah so Rangers is my first brand uh closely a follow with a hian and Celtic uh following on and hopefully Newcastle United who have a demo as well yeah but but the Octagon technology goes through into other product isn’t it like these grips it’s another product where I’m fascinated we I can’t over grippy you know just it’s so fely yeah it’s hard to explain for guys own but it does give you a lot more confidence when you’re going through your swing when you’re at the top of your swing many of us amateurs feel that ah did that move a we bit and that’s how it went left to right or whatever so you do get a very positive feel of the octen grip it’s hard approved uh so the octen dimples represent is what is the octopus t tentacles yeah but using in the octen format and so uh the Potter grip I’ve got coming out soon is the Octan shape so this will be ideal because your hands not round it actually takes the shape of an octogan so because of your fingers it it wraps into the shape very well yeah so it gives you a good feel and it’ll be good on the uh giving your pendulum movement but also on broomstick Putters or the new type of Putters where they’re wanting a long length yeah so the want a long length butter so this will come in a 400 long yeah and a 280 long and for broomstick two part’ll have a 150 and a 27 can tell he’s an engineer can’t you it’s all fought through but there’s a couple of interesting his eyes the most I think your best technology is in your Putters and your wedges yeah you know well there’s a mass choice in Putters and and it felt a shame for me to create grips without adding a putter style to it so I used my name which is Bruce Logan so Ben Hogan’s a a big golfer that he’s got his plaque at KI won the kti open so it’s not Hogan it’s Logan I like that but show let’s just show them the feature cuz there be a lot of golfers out there that break the back to get the ball and when you showed me that I thought what a perfect bit of engineering just to pick the ball up it’s a little bit of pressure cuz when you said it picks the ball up power think you know it Scoops it up I’ve seen that before but you just put a bit of pressure on there you have it yeah again the size and dimensions it’s quite straightforward but because you’ve got an octagon shape it’s quite easily to grip the ball you might say straight forward I’ve never seen that before well that’s uh that’s a very positive feature so uh yeah I’ve got three different designs of Potters the standard blade which uh was my first creation and 1871 that represents for for golf club which is the oldest 18 whole course from design to completion as a Tom Morris course which then got redesigned By Braid so it’s on the braid tour so I was president of for for during the for 150th year uh when Co was on so never got the full benefits of being the president I think with this groove technology you could have a big offer from a big brand at some stage for this yeah well I’m willing to Relic to some of the big guys but obviously I’ve got for Ms it’s IP protected if you could just explain a bit about this club face it’s a bit special so so the Octan feature that starts on The Sweet Spot and it’s just a range of octans coming out in their shape so when you’re hitting the ball Square you’re you’re getting this area here which adds to grip and spin which is another trademark name and then when you’re in the bunker and you’re opening the face you’ve got these flat lines to create the grip and spin it’s like diagonal Groove so it’s it’s for when you’re cutting across the ball it’s going to come out square so when you’re opening up that club face we’re not all full nichelson you’re not going to get that left to right spin as much you’re going to get more of a square spin you you should get the square spin but the stopp and reaction on the green is helped by the the spin that the grooves uh create and obviously the lower professional guys can get that pool back light F so this will help even the higher handicaps to stop quickly yeah and get a bit of grip and spin to come back I’d also like to mention about my daring poter all right so so this is the daring poter it was created under a friend’s name who had pancreatic cancer it was able to come off again I keep my Octan features on the on the putter but this base plate here can be removed so I’ve got a number of corporate Brands can go on I’m speaking to Newcastle United just now to see if they can add my poter to their range of corporate uh equipments and I’ve got Rangers soonly followed by haban and uh hopefully Celtic’s coming on board as well and getting Celtic on board being Kenny they’ll gle’s old club I’m hoping to get Liverpool so so yeah this this pter can can offer corporate Brands their identity on it whether it be sky or BT or some big companies that do it’s a very smart move I think um you know for anybody that makes product like this it’s a no-brainer really and I’m small enough to be flexible enough yeah whereas a lot of the larger Brands they’re they’re producing them in thousands and they don’t have that flexibility so I’m here to be flexible for corporate businesses large golf clubs so Royal doru uh one of the brands that I’ve added to the range so there it is on the putter here so same same putter just the different base plate and then I’ve got the Royal Dorn butter as well being were uh you could definitely sell the covers yeah you know well Royal DN offer their covers I’m allowed to do as a package so if a customer buys they get the Potter grip and the head cover yeah but could the buy these covers from you yes yeah it’s an agreement so I’m very upfront so that’s the Royal dnu uh branded design so I can make with all the various clubs logos and Designs same grip same concept and the iron grips can come with the crest logos on the top as well so whether it be Newcastle Liverpool Celtic hibs whoever yeah brilliant Bruce I love it and you know what with you being an engineer I think this is a brand worth following because what the future old wanting well I might be protected now so uh it’s just a matter of I will license to ping yeah or uh M golf any of these type of brands that want to have a product that can compete with titless tailor
