this is the famous driver that Tiger Woods used to win the 1997 Masters and relative to today’s equipment it’s hard to believe that tiger actually averaged 323 yards off the te with this club in fact at just 21 years old Tiger burst onto the major scene that week beating the field by 12 strokes and setting a 4-day scoring record that would stand for an incredible 20 3 years considered Cutting Edge technology at the time tiger’s 9° king cobra deep face driver is made of stainless steel compare that to today’s modern drivers that use Aerospace grade titanium and it makes you wonder how tiger went 18 underpar at austa with this old club now obviously tiger is the goat for a reason and everyday golfers don’t hold a candle to his ability or do that today we’ve infiltrated this charity golf outing to see how far a few everyday golfers can hit tigers’s 1997 driver all right guys so this is the challenge for you this is the driver tiger used to win the 97 Masters first thing is guess how far do you think he averaged off the te that week with this I would say 270 look say 309 oo getting better getting closer 327 oo 323 with this thing steel shaft it’s stainless steel head none of that titanium we’re used to now want to see if you guys can hit it Y for the challenge I mean I’ll definitely try let’s [Music] go this is body built by Bud Light you you want to guess your carry number like 240 220 220 carry 231 total on the rap soda all right pretty good start for our first swing of the day I’ll tell you good [Music] hold on we’re waiting for those carry numbers they’re coming right up oh good contact there hey Sean want to buy you want that for the rest of the day it’s time for an update 213 yard carry 229 let’s go dude nice shot that’s solid still 100 yard but that’s crazy I got to hit the gym again all right obviously amateurs are one thing Pros are another we got the pro here we’re going to see how far he can hit it so small he’s got a swing on him assistant Pro here there you go there is zero forgiveness in that club wouldn’t be mad at that 218 Parry 227 total not bad I wouldn’t be mad I would mad it’s a fre one yeah it really is isn’t it it’s amazing that you know in 97 you know he that’s in that 323 323 with this no forgiveness just nonstop Bam Bam Bam absolutely that’s why he is who he is yeah beat the FI by 12 Strokes that week crazy I hit a draw and I just cut that thing I don’t know how all right we’re going to switch up our t- shot location we’re now moving over to the sixth hole I love this hole because it’s all forced carry so like there’s no room for error all Woods left all Woods right and they have to carry over all that junk I’m actually curious to see if anyone can fly this over that carry I’ll be impressed oh yeah wow you cleared it all do you do you hear the sound difference in that thing we got numbers on this oh we got numbers let’s see what 195 total just because it was low I think all right guys we’re waiting for the next group to come up now we just got to give it a crack for ourselves I just don’t even know how high to tee this thing the club face is so small give it a rip Nice Shot I gave that thing everything I had oh let’s see what we got 26 carry 229 total I carry my usual TSR usually about 240 so I’m Lo I’m losing about 20 25 yards with this thing let’s go find some more people I thought I’d never see this today but you have the same driver I guess [Laughter] so oh come on carry it carry it 151 carry 170 total yes what a shot can I take this and there we go 204 carry 223 total swing I love to go get him TIG 143 ball speed there 228 total 228 212 carry all right before we get out of here I just want to try hitting this golf ball off the deck I don’t think tiger used this thing off the deck ever maybe he did I’m going to try to hit I’m going to try to at least get it in the air let’s see how far I can hit it not a bad shot all right I’m going to go get that ball guys thanks for tuning in we’ll see you in the next video

  1. I had that same driver, it was a great one. It was actually the Greg Norman driver first and Tiger was a bit of a Norman fan at the time. Things changed.
