My review of the new Wilson Staff Dynapower Forged Iron that sits along side of the Staff Model blade & Staff Model CB irons. This is a popular iron that packs a punch, forged head, good looking, powerful yet provides control.

so in golf we definitely see some of the brands that just fly a little bit under the radar that maybe don’t get the attention that they really sort of deserve I’ve got an iron here from a particular brand that I think is a really fantastic iron it’ll suit a lot of golfs through looks feel and also performan it’s ticking a lot of those boxes that a lot of Club golfers would really want out of an so as a golfer what do you want to get out of an eye in know think for me personally looks are really important I like a goodlooking golf club we have our own preferences on look obviously but for me looks is very very important then it comes to maybe the feel of the golf club how does that ball feel off that club face does it feel very hard is it very soft is it clicky is it more muted in the sound and then obviously we’ve got to look at performance of the golf club a lot of golfers are striving to get maybe that little bit more distance that big ball speed but at the same time they want some control uh in that in that shot as well so I feel this iron that I’m sort of looking at here now is going to hopefully pack a lot of those punches in a way tick a lot of those boxes welcome to the Wilson Dino Power forged iron that’s a nice opening shot there so the din power Forge din power massive Legacy with Wilson huge history as a brand the dino power name is back which I really like that what Wilson done but obviously now in a very modern looking Golf Club packed with some technology so just before we carry on with the rest of video just going to ask for your help if I can and if you haven’t subscribed already I’d love you to do so I’m trying to reach up to that 100,000 uh subscriber Mark which would be very sort of nice it’s a big goal of mine so I’d love it if you could just take a second or two and hit that subscribe button below so as we always do let’s have a little look at the golf club so from the back of the club for me it looks fantastic this sort of little uh satin uh brushed sort of badge in the back here really sort of like I’ve done a review of the CB and the blade IR which we saw the Wilson uh logo lose the Ws and it kept the shield but no letter in it which just looked unfinished looked a bit too just unfinished really for my eyes so it’s nice to see the Ws in this particular head going forward that might be dropped out as well I don’t know from the back it looks great very polished on the back of the golf club and then Sole and then we turn it around onto the face got the satin Gro with a polished heel and toe section into that playing position and it’s a typical sort of iron that we see this category this sort of maybe players power I in category in a way great shape of the head Med to thickish Top Line as we generally expect in this this category uh a little bit of offset but not a lot but a really nice sort of rounded toe not a huge blade length from that heel to the toe sits really nice though I really like the look of that to be honest very sort of neat looking Golf Club but with a bit confident inspiring as well with that top [Music] Edge oh that’s a good strike that’s better than that first strike first one was a little bit low in the face that was a better strike very straight nice high tow flight great ball speed as we going to expect going to talk a little bit about that and a decent spin number 18 180 carry so 79 I’m hitting it’s coming in at 30.5 De of Loft which is very very sort of typical in this category and type of iron so we look at the tailor made p790 massive iron there you know that Hollow construction again it’s that nice look forged uh but with that forgiveness and that power that comes in at 30 and a half so sitting exactly in there with a lot of the other brands in terms of the lofting so really what I’m looking for in this particular iron it’s obviously some good ball speed and we can see some visible text straight away there with these power holes or power slots as they call them in the Sol of the club we’ve see that on quite a few models now from Wilson so obviously keeps that flexing for maybe those slightly low in the face sort of strikes helps to keep that ball speed up so then we look at the word forged on there and quite refreshingly this isn’t just a forged face this is a full forged body so 8620 carbon steel and it’s forged so hopefully that’s going to give us that little bit of that feel which I sort of got through that shot there uh that I’ve just hit so the other Advantage with Wilson is the price point generally a little bit less than your bigger Brands and that’s really because they probably don’t spend anywhere near as much on tour as other brands out there so you’re going to get a bit of a saving but you’re not going to get sacrific on the quality of the components of the [Music] clubs yeah so well it it wasn’t flush that but it’s flowing very nicely just slightly left on there great ball speed again 128 launch good spins just come down a fraction with a slight pull but that’s not a bad spin I don’t think for an iron in this sort of category you know the first one’s around 6,000 the first two I think around 6,000 that’s just dropped a little bit with that slightly shot face which obviously gives it a slightly pull uh but typical sort of spin i’ would like to sort of see there which is refreshing again sometimes how you get more distance sometimes the spin gets really low especially in the more game improvement irons as well when the Loft gets obviously a lot less coming into land you can see that land angle there just short of 50° around that 50° map that’s fantastic know that Ball’s coming in with a bit of stopping power there right that’s a good test of the power slots in the bottom that was low in the face on that strike wasn’t quite as flushed so see yeah I mean ball speed has dropped a little bit there I mean that wasn’t a greatest to strike a little bit low on the heel spins maintain dropped a tiny bit of distance but not too bad at off that slight Miss and that’s something that you’re going to get with this type of iron just a little bit of help on those misses you think about maybe the next Iron along from this would be the CB the staff model CB iron gets a little bit smaller not as much help we haven’t got the power slots in the bottom of the golf club there so the help is just taken away from you a little bit so there maybe this might have that slight advant Advantage if you feel like you need it Nice Shot nice flight y so really likeing even though with that slight strong off really sort of nice uh sort of flight on there again going back to that word Forge and like say 8620 carbon steel is forged here but I would it doesn’t feel quite as soft as the CB and that staff model blade iing you know we’ve got that cavity we’ve got this sort of badge in the back just changes the sound for me a little bit little bit clicker but it’s still quite a nice feeling Golf Club so quick run through the main Tech in there we’ve got a variable face thi so again helping with SP speed across the face on those slight misses obviously as we mentioned we’ve got the power holes in the in the bottom that flexing low in the face strikes again trying to help that ball speed and then we’ve got a all that low CG placement so we’ve got a little bit more weight low and also into the toe of the golf club there which is going to allow you to get some height on these uh sort of flights and like I say get that Landing power when it comes in so probably just want you to have a little comment down below with regards to your thoughts of Wilson as a brand where does it sit in that Marketplace is it something that you would go and try just say no I’m going to go and look at those big Brands out there um I would always say give it a go for me I think it’s a great brand and as I said at the start of this video definitely brand that probably just sits under that radar a little bit when it comes to picking some new golf clubs the quality is good they’ve got a very good new fitting system now with some AI technology so they’re backing up the quality of the IR with some really high quality components you know a nice array of shafts to choose from obviously you got your grips as well so the whole golf club is pretty highend as you would see with a lot of the other big Brands so availability wise in these I we’ve got three iron all the way through to pitch and wedge and gap wedge now the three iron is a custom option only so standard STS will come in at 4 iron through to gap wedge in that’s all in right hand in left hand there’s no three and four iron availability so it’s a five iron through to gap wedge for you left-handers so the Wilson Dino Power Forge iron I think that’s a cracking iron which will suit a lot of golfers probably from that mid single figure handicap up to even sort of maybe 20 handicap there depending on your ball striking um definitely go and give it a go put it on your red out to try tell me know what your thoughts appreciate you watching the video as always and hopefully catch up you all very soon

  1. Michael, I'm 59 and a 9 handicap. Switched a couple of years ago from T200's to the D9 Forged w/ graphite shafts. I couldn't be happier. I have a rather slow swing speed, and I absolutely love the Wilson irons. I find the sweet spot is a bit larger, and the club face is extremely soft feeling. Have to believe the Dynapower is close, if not more refined that the D9, but I love my decision going to Wilson's. Love your content. Thanks!

  2. I picked up a set of the V6s used for ridiculously cheap and fell in love with the feel. I upgraded to the 2021 CBs when they came out and learned a harsh lesson in the long irons. I'm now in a split set of the Dynapwr Forged and CBs and couldn't be happier with the mix of performance, feel, and forgiveness.

  3. Great Irons….. Great. Customer service is really bad. Ordered a custom set of these on June 12th, got the receipt and card charged the next day. Haven't heard a thing since. Tried calling them, only to get a foreign call center that was absolutely no help. Messaged them on their site and after 6 days got a reply that they received my message but nothing about the content….. and still have not gotten a response. Their site has had a progress of my order of "customization in progress" for 3 weeks.

  4. I don't need new irons I don't think. Last time I tried some they didn't perform any different than my TM SIM Max. However, I really like the Wilson and if I do get some I want to try these and the regular, unforged version. I really like the polished look. The brushed thing is way too over done.

  5. I had always passed on Wilson in the past, but I've been hearing so many good things about their clubs that I'll take a look when I need new clubs.

  6. I have the D7 forged irons in graphite shafts. The new irons look much better, but not sure if there is very much difference between the D7, D9 (Forged) and Dynapower Forged.

  7. Decided to go with the CB forged over these, felt like the stopping power with more spin was what I needed over distance. I carry a 7 around 145/150 normally.

  8. I would have got the D9 forged only for the power slots at the bottom. The rubber loosen over time on some of the clubs, it doesn't impact the performance once it's cleaned out, but it's a bitch to clean. I had the D7 irons for 5 years before I went for I recently went for Callaway Apex 21 as I wanted tighter dispersion.

I was hitting an 8 iron 135 to 180 and I needed it tighter, where my new apex 8 irons goes better 135 to 150 depending on strike.

I love Wilson however!! Only for the power slots they would have been in my bag.

  9. Had the D9’s hit them way past anything else but couldn’t get past the slots in the bottom, want the cb’s but strong money, they look absolutely stunning though. Money isn’t an option but i’m tight, typical yorkshire lad. Got the Dynapower driver and 5 wood fully customised

  10. I prefer the aethetics of the previous model – the D9 Forged, and have a 4i and 5i in the bag. I got my hands on a demo model CB and blade from the 2021 line to test at home and on course and fell in love with them. So, now, I play a blended set of the 2024 blades and CBs, with the D9 5i and 4i. Wilson have always 'nailed' it with their irons and now they are getting a bit more YT and social media attention, perhaps they'll make a real 'comeback'. I'd love to see some non-contracted Tour players give them a go.
