Senior Golf Tips From Legend Sam Snead

as you get older uh you use your head I think a little bit more and uh you’re a little more cautious um well that’s that’s good in the way but uh it’s when you’re young boy it’s gung-ho let me add it I’ll go for the green but as you get a little older you don’t do that I said you’re a little cagier a little smarter well I think that is what helps the seniors to hold up if you go to practice te uh when you’re older and hit a lot of practice balls uh you should stop at a point where you’re doing well don’t keep hitting balls and first thing you know you’re going back to where you started and then maybe even worse but stops when you’re hitting it well the only exercise I know for a golf actually for the go is trotting or running and if you do some form of just strengthen your wrist uh do curls that’s great uh push-ups or bad cuz then all you do you strengthen your back muscles and when you have bulky muscles you don’t have Speedy muscles you have strong muscle but uh you’ve lost a whole lot of speed it’s like you’re trying to pit up uh Dre horse against a racehorse he’s stronger than a race horse but he can’t run and after all hitting the golf uh ball uh Club head speed is what puts it out there and the more Club head speed you have the other you’ll hit it the old saying you get out of the golf what you put in it and if you don’t practice you don’t expect to go there and shoot 70 71 72 either because you lose that fine Edge uh you lose the touch around the greens and uh then you have more three putts and and uh you’re in more trouble and and you get exasperated and you said oh this game is for the birds so uh if you want to play and enjoy the game you have to put a little effort in You Can’t Play Holes way ahead or you can’t play the holes that you’ve already finished you have to play the Hol you’re at you put the ball from A to B that’s your intention you don’t think of anything else I’m going to put you from here to there and you concentrate on what kind of uh shot it is or what club you should use and make the shot forget everything else you you make your shot don’t say oh I’m going to put this out I’m going to do this if you do you you’ll come off of you’ll do something strange but just try to make the best swing you can put on it I visualize the shot going what kind of shot I I want to make and I visualize making that type of shot uh for instance if I’m going uh in Against the Wind with a uh uh and I must keep the ball down play a a low shot I visualize uh how to go about that before I get to the ball I can see it go and and then all I do is just get up and and make the effort I don’t get over the ball and then try to figure well which way am I going this I want to know which way I’m going before I step up to the ball
