I think we’re live hello everybody and welcome to Forever rugby on forever Sports my name is Cal and uh well let’s get the curry cup underway shall we I can’t remember the last time I watched the curry Cup in all honesty so I’m kind of excited about this um certainly when I used to live in South Africa um the curry cup was actually for me it was on par with um with Super Rugby back when I used to live there so I mean I’m I’m Keen I’m actually I’m looking forward to this um so yeah it’s I think it’s G to be a a good one um just need to check something quickly am I in the right wait hang on let me just make sure I’m in the right no wait so it should be working now um so Lions versus the Sharks or rather sharks versus the um as it is a home game for the the Nadal JS the Hollywood BS ja um and I am wearing a Jersey from what I can only really think was 201 maybe maybe earlier um this one is an old Jersey but it’s actually one of my favorite ones they had um so I don’t honestly this is an interesting one because I don’t know much about either of these well the lies are fairly unchanged because they don’t have that many spring BLS but uh a hell of a lot of sharks players I probably won’t won’t really know um or at least weren’t heavily used during the URC um so what we’ll do is we’ll go through a couple predictions we’ll go through head-to-head stats um and then we’ll go look more at the teams that will be you know the players that will be playing for either side um so looking at Head to Head uh funnny enough on um rugby pass they’ve got a poll for who people think is going to win 83% of people have said that they think the shark’s going to win uh I think these people are not uh not thinking that this is not the URC they are they’re thinking these are the URC teams um because I think we have a far less chance than that um of winning this game um it is round one of the curry cup we’ve already seen the pumers um uh put the grias away comfortably um but head-to-head in the last five meetings the uh the Lions have the better the better of it three wins to the Sharks two uh the average points scored is 32 for both side so interesting that but two other interesting stats only 20% of the time has the team scoring the first try one and only 40% of those of those games have resulted in a home win so that stat is not looking too good for the Sharks today uh although in the last five games um both teams have won three of their last five however the sharks are coming off the back of two losses whereas the Lions went win loss win loss win so they’re coming off the back of a win um but in terms of last time these two teams met each other last year the Sharks won in June uh last year uh by eight points 29 to 21 the year uh then April so two months before that the Lions won by 12 points follow the year before that um the Lions won the second encounter on in June by 6 points 3832 and then the game before that in February the Sharks won by 14 points uh 31 points to 45 um so it’s it’s interesting each year um over over the past two competitions both team have won once which is um which is quite nice and it’s uh it’s usually last year it was the home teams that won but then the year before that it was the away teams that won so it’s it’s it’s really really interesting stats there um in their last five games both teams have two wins um however TR in Tri scored in the last five games the Sharks Only scored 16 whereas the Lions scored 19 um the sharks in their last five games have a points difference of one bear in mind this is curry cup not URC um whereas the Lions had a points difference of 35 so um much much better for them there um the Sharks scored the first try twice out of those five games whereas the Lions scored the first try four times out of five uh the shark scored first points once in those five games whereas the Lions again scored first points four out of five games and in the raced to 10 points in those five games sharks did it twice Lions again did it Ford out of five so I think uh and certainly The Bookies are giving it uh that the Lions probably have about a seven-point um uh advantage over the lion over the sharks um however the Sharks did win their um their their last home game against the Lions um and they finished second in the curry Cup last year um Li lost eight out of their 14 matches last season so not a good not a good record last season for the the Lions um let’s have a look yeah so the Sharks did have a good season um last last year 10 out of 14 um games won um and they finished three points off the top uh in the in the semi-final they lost to the pumers um and I think the humors went on to win it um I think I can’t remember uh so sharks are one of the most affected sides with lot of Internationals so this is a basically an entirely New Look side um and don’t forget Dylan Richardson won’t be there because he’s with Scotland um and however the Lions um they’re change they are while not being affected by springwalk Internationals things like that they have rested most of their URC players after a long season um so it it’s going to be an interesting game the the teams are you know very very different to what we’ve been used to seeing in the URC um and I suppose recent years um which I think is it’ll be a good thing I think I think it’s exciting um the sharks have been desperately needing to bolster their second uh their their depth and their second string side because they have been critically poor in the last couple of seasons to be honest I’d say the last four or five seasons the shark second side has been fairly useless um so what we’ll do is we’ll go through the home side um and then the away side of the we’ll go through sharks then the Lions I’ll pick out players I think are going to do well I’m certainly going to comment on players I’ve never heard of um and uh I think I’ll give I suppose a 15 verse 15 where or 23 vers 23 how I think this is going to go so the sharks in the front row we got um Abraham Reena Daniel and quy Mona so two fairly well-known names in the sharks um I’m not a quy Mona fan I think he’s bang average in all honesty um second row CIA laru and ranil Hugo Ral Hugo is good he’s a very good player Tino maver at six I like him as well Janis poita and Nick Hatton at eight Nick Hatton it’s a Hilton boy uh so he went to my he went to my school and he actually might I don’t think he at at Hilton when I was there I’m pretty sure Nick Haden a Hilton boy certainly there were two debutant um for uh for the Lions I think at the end of the URC that were um that were Hilton Boys uh then we got Bradley David at nine Lionel crer at 10 and man that guy is getting on um yako Williams or Joo Williams at 11 Mari Costa at 12 um Diego apis at 13 and I’m Keen to see him play at 13 y pent I mean he is really fallen out of favor in the last two seasons he was a starter for like a whole season for us in our first string side and now he you know he’s playing K cup um and then hakeim Kun at 15 he I don’t know anything about him so I’m really interested to see these players that I don’t know um then on the bench we got Karen fur and everyone knows him Fatu G um Mand Mand uh R fun SI ninga Tian fi aleno vaki and Muller dup so a bunch of players on the bench for the sharks that I don’t even know um so interested to see how all of them go it’s certainly going to make my job challenging when I’m trying to figure out who’s playing what number uh then onto the Lions um we got Morgan ner yaku vaki and um skum in the front row rard roots and Ruben Schuman in the second row Jared Ken Ron fent and Eisen Esther Hazen in the back row Nic oain and Cade Volo nine and 10 R rabs Matan um at 11 Zander dupy 12 Manuel Manuel Ross at 13 Baldwin Hansen at 14 and Giani Lombard at 15 and uh there’s one name on the bench that really excited I’m glad he’s at the Lions uh M Brandon at six uh Reserve hooker um SJ cza at 17 um H hio pman at 18 Ruan struy um at 19 Renzo dupy 20 Leighton horn another horn God they’ve got so many very horny team um at 21 rard Yona at 22 and the person I’m most excited to see in the Lions because he’s going to be in the URC next year tapa mafura he’s over from the cheaters and uh honestly I rate this guy very highly I think he’s a class player and I think he has a really good future at the Lions and I won’t be surprised if we end up seeing him at the sharks in in the coming years uh just because the Lions never managed to hold on to their talent for very long um so those the teams head-to-head uh looking at the two sides I think the players that will stand out for each team uh I think Tino maver is a class player I think he’ll do well Nick Hatton will do well um and I think Diego apollis will play quite well in the Cent partnered with Murray Costa um then going on to the Lions I mean let’s see I think uh m m is great um Gian Lombard’s good and who else Yakov vaki is great but I’m very keen to see tapio Maura get a decent shot uh on on the uh on the pitch I’m I’m I’m very keen to to see him get a decent bit of a run out there because I think he’s a class player and has a bright bright future in uh in South Africa um sad for the cheaters but not not uh surprising okay that’s okay no we’re not we’re not we’re not doing that um if you had if you hadn’t seen already the uh grias were outplayed by Los pumis uh let’s see thousand good luck for the CHS let’s see Abraham cman good day everyone time for curry cup 24 yeah uh back in the lines today when is the game between Weston Province and bulls not sure is masuku playing Curry cup doubt it because he’s in the springbox squad um Sharks win where’s the live stream um well it’ll be on Super Sport it depends where you’re watching it from um Dolph I don’t know I I you know it’s you you don’t have to watch me you can go and do what you want um lions and cheaters Just DE feed for sharks yeah that yeah kind of um where can you watch the game Super Sport or grab a a VPN and watch it somewhere online um but the game is what starting in about fiveish minutes um and I’m Keen for this one I I I’ve always loved the curry cup uh it’s certainly gone downhill recently um Joshua Miller Lions I’m a sharks fan and honestly I reckon the Lions today um because the Sharks depth has always been in the recent years has always been atrocious um oh my God stop um and yeah they they just have not the the second string players have not looked anywhere up to the standard that we need you know they’re playing they’re playing second second fiddle spring box they should they should you know be at least challenging them for their positions but they aren’t they they they don’t have a hope in Hell of knocking a springwalk out of their position um one I assume he’s injured but one player I’m surprised is not not there is um uh Chuka Vincent Chuka um but you know he might be injured he might be doing other things he might be just being being rested after the long URC season um but hopefully this stream will work and we’ll get going soon um do let me know in the chat where you’re watching from um yeah cross boarding I don’t think muku is playing um Curry cup because I think he’s with the spring box um I think he might actually I to be honest I didn’t even check the most recent Squad um it’s not up yet and it’s still on the kind of rainbow rainbow display um you have faith in your squad fair enough I mean I don’t after shocking URC my discontent is something to behold yeah I look I’ve been a sharks fan for too long now I’m also an England fan so you can understand my frustration you know before the World Cup last year like holy crap both my teams sucked come on um at least England have turned it around um but yes certainly nothing much to cheer about in the past two years for me rugby wise anyway um uh yeah right okay so the they come on why is this not started yet um right this is pissing me off so I’m going to while I’m trying to Fig get that to work I’m going to find another stream no that’s just not it oh my God right okay I’m still trying to get the stream up this is not going not going ideally right fine we’ll check this one now of course it’s not even going to be on there nope not even there helpful oh my God okay see it’s already yeah exactly four probably know have known what’s going on for the last 10 minutes I haven’t but you know we can finally get started um and I I tell you what it’s it’s been a long like I said it’s been a hell of a long time since I last watched Curry cup and I am Keen I’m Keen to watch another game um is their fly is the lion fly half the second choice for the stormers uh who is it Kade Volo he his name rings a bell I’ve definitely seen him and commentated on him before oh I mean the Shark Tank looks very empty I mean it is very very empty and I I I I don’t really blame the fans for that I mean if I could I’d go watch why not watching Robb’s great so it’s a scrum down to the uh sharks David Davids will put the ball in solid scrum from both sides Davids gets it out pink coming off his wing ported by maver Davids getting it to the forwards David again recycling quickly K whips whips It Wide to Kun Kun drops passes it in an unfriendly pass and it’s knocked on by who’s playing on the other Wing by uh y yako Williams another player I don’t recognize good quick hands from um from can yeah there’s a lot of players for the shark side I don’t know apparently yako Williams was Craven weak player of the year last year hopefully that’s a a good sign but we will see apparently he’s still at school at Glennwood oh but okay also guys while we’re here what um what uh International are you most excited for this weekend I’m guessing you’re going to say the spring box versus Ireland which will be an absolute cracker but I’m really Keen to see how England will go against New Zealand I’m excited for that good carry from the Lions then a box kick by their number nine Nic oain Williams coming up for it he takes it well but then it’s tackled hard Davids gets it out forki David again here’s K CR is going to launch a bomb P to Chase he goes up for it and it’s Fallen well for the Lions and here is uh number 13 Manuel Manuel Ross R they’re shifting it in field now they’re almost up to the 22 good good counter there from the lines Nic oain off to vaki who pops it off St to rard Roots stay again stain goes deep this time to nordia Lions losing a little bit of shape in this attack stain Volo in the in the Midfield feeds dup C lions almost into the 22 now that’s going to be a penalty against Williams yeah no sorry Davids he playing playing the halfback and would you believe it the stream is frozen because of course has no we go Bradley David giving away the penalty there against his opposite number Nic oain so the lions are probably just going to take a take the three here it’s right in front of the poles on the 22 um a clean shot I don’t agree with that because Nichol stain was standing in the Rock thing is I don’t I wouldn’t count him as the halfback there because he’s he’s standing in the ru he’s not behind it he’s standing in it as if he’s trying to clear out uh but um Cade volher I imagine will be lining this up yep it is he’ll be lining this up first kick of the match almost 15 minutes gone in this first half but that’s purely because we didn’t get access to it for 10 minutes so Volo has he missed that no he got it so the first points of the on the ball for the Lions now remember 20% first try uh scored 20% of the time that means they wins they the the these teams have won in the last five outings so it doesn’t mean much who scores first um or certainly hasn’t in Pre in recent records um but you never want you never don’t want to Score first um so Lions will be happy with that 3-0 um not I wouldn’t say on the board early certainly not on the board early but standable considering they’ve got no URC players and it’s the first game of the Tour Tournament so Lionel crer will get us underway again he kicks I mean his box kicks are huge he kicks very high and long Falls for um Ruan fenter Nic steain off to Ruben scan niiko stain told to use it he carries it a few Paces before box kicking and he will find touch no touch called so it will be a line up to the Sharks Nic stain claiming that a shark a shark’s hand had touched the ball um from his box kick but referee not having it Yer goes to the mid the middle Davids to CR CR to Costa to P pentre Davids here’s apollis oh it’s a brilliant offload to crer CR into the 22 and uh he still got it and then it’s knocked on oh a why hold it and it’s Williams who knocked it on but not his fault it was kind of thrown at him um but really slick hands there from the Sharks really good hands apollis with a brilliant offload to crer crer did not need to throw that off the floor but good signs from the Sharks good signs looking they’re looking to attack they’re looking to shift it which is good to see nothing more boring than watching the shs kick the whole time uh Wonder because this is not a streaming um channel it’s purely a commentary Channel um I watch the game and then commentate on it that’s what we do Diego apollis is probably the one I’m most Keen to see in this game and he’s already getting some medical attention nothing too serious I think uh I think it might be his ankle uh yes he’s getting his ankle strapped so I imagine he’s going to get the top of his boot strapped as well um so I think it’s probably just a little ankle twinge so it will be a scrum down to the Lions let’s come down to the Lions and uh let’s see if Diego apis was had to go off anytime soon probably gonna be replaced by aleno vaki or mupy so many players I just don’t know actually now I know exactly how my parents feel because they don’t know any of the sharks they haven’t known any of the Sharks players for quite a while now because they’re too they were too used to the uh the era of John Smith J JP Peterson Coy Montgomery and it’s was a while ago now so Nic stain will feed the scram and um try try to set a good e a good platform for an exit for the Lions ref go let’s see will there be a reset or will it be solid no the scum solid very solid from both sides Lion’s trying to get a shove on but can’t do so Nic stain fires it off to his Center in mupy no into Zander dupy uh there is walot who no pressure on him gets a clearance kick away it’s not that great he gets it just outside the 22 and so the Sharks will have an attacking line out just outside the Lions 22 uh not bad for the Sharks excuse me I’ve been up since it’s like 6:00 a.m. so um oh what’s his name meeri breaks off give it to um to Davids Davids feeds Costa Davids off to Hatton Hatton beats one gets himself into the 22 good run from Hatton Davids rer and penalty to the Lions not releasing from Raina and because of not continuing to not release the ball Rica got marched back 10 and uh that is just such a stupid penalty it’s so unnecessary and um yeah so now Volo will be able to take a huge amount of distance with that penalty and he has so Lions will now have an attacking line out deep in the shark territory almost up to the 22 and uh see what a silly penalty can do uh lions are going to throw to the front they’re going to set them all but they’re going to break off with Jared K he feeds Thunder dup C niiko stain’s going to fling it out now four so rard Roots Advantage for offside for the Lions that’s a free play and they have a fairly easy shot at goal great turnover by the Sharks number two but uh penalty Advantage already given so um I’m imagining that Lions will take a shot no volot is going to go to the corner oh and he’s hooked it he’s kicked it dead and he has voler has kicked it dead so the the shars will have what uh 22 Dropout almost yeah 22 dropout crer will take a 22 Dropout and that is a huge let off for the sharks lions will be very annoyed with that Lions letting it let bounce and we’ve got another Frozen stream so that’s nice this is going well but I’m glad glad the Lions didn’t go for polls there very glad the Li didn’t go Falls uh lions are on attack now oh it’s over the top of pent here’s M he’s got he’s beaten three tackles now he’s eventually brought down stain BH ships it off this is good from the Lions it’s come back on the shark side Hatton Hatton gets it off The Davids here’s maver good tackle from the Lions player not rolling away away he was trying but he was trapped just got caught on the wrong side there did the Lions player um let’s see so number that was Ken Jared Ken being penalized for not rolling away good kick from Lon crer brings play almost up to the uh the Lions 22 was a good tackle on Mavis from Ken though yeah so that kick from crer was brilliant literally half a meter out from the 22 brilliant kick from CR so um throws to the front here is David David off to crer CR to Costa Costa to Williams apollis through the middle Apollos gets it off to Williams Williams is going to score Sharks score the first try and that is a brilliant move from the Sharks and that’s almost the most excited I’ve been about the Sharks this whole season not obviously the curry cup but I mean in general including the USC and yako Williams scoring his first Curry cup try and it is beauty absolutely sensational Williams had so many hands in that move Diego Apollos getting a break through the center and then just Chucks it back outside to the man he got it from in Williams and he’s over so crer lining up his first kick of the match he’s being rushed here a bit oh and he’s he’s waited too long and he’s not allowed the kick so the uh the rules have changed it’s no longer a 90c conversion it’s now 60 and he used his time and I tell you what this ref’s not taking any [ __ ] either he’s um he’s like no that is the rule and that that he the Sharks won’t get that two point so it’ll be taken down to Five Points here’s crer he launches a very high bomb really high that had a huge hang time volh and then it’s Lombard Lombard kicks to the right hand side but it’s Fallen straight to the dry scorer who flings it in field prier again he’s going to kick little wobbler that’s going to fall to mwan he jumps infield and catches it they kick back downfield to the sharks they let it bounce and that is a really stupid mistake Williams slips but he dummies one oh it’s a a knock on from Giani Lombard what oh my God lucky there was a knock on there because the Sharks were about to throw themselves into the deep end hugely both Williams and P pentre just throwing the ball anywhere but that’s one thing I am happy about I’d rather them try something and you know if it works out it’ll be incredible um but then then just you know be very boring and and kind of meticulous um the this is a young shark side and they need to they need to learn how to play some attractive free flowing rugby sharks need to get back to that so yeah the kick has been scratched off so the score is Five Points to three so David gets it out the back of the scrum here is Costa Costa to pentre pentre kicks forward kicks infield too get gets the ball to Grass Lombard to um har Hansen he’s held up at the moment he does get to ground stain oh it’s loose but it’s it’s gone to hand and uh here’s ra Ras AR is R not Ross maver trying to make a nuisance of himself sharks rocking over getting the penalty on halfway the Sharks getting a penalty through great counter rcking by Tina maveri I do like maver a lot I think he’s a very good player that’s jacked so crer kicks to the corner good to see the Sharks actually going for the touch line more often and actually backing themselves to score some tries um really nice to see they have some talent and it’s showing um I’m actually quite excited about the sharks from seeing what I’m seeing now now can the Sharks replicate what they did about five minutes ago and score another one that’d be great so you still throw in they go to the front to the r ril Hugo who was Captain for a little bit don’t forget um y has it at the back the mul’s not moving so I think David’s is gonna have to take it out he goes blind crer crer runs into the number 14 Davids gets it away Williams looking for a second can’t quite make it Davids sharks I think getting a penalty for offside now sharks trying to use the power game Yer goes about 30 30 centimeters out Hatton look like Hatton no it’s laru lar yeah could see laru they pick up and go again it’s Rea I think he might be over there but no they feed the ball back L I think he’s over there sharks might I think have scored the second sharks have scored their second try and I tell you what this I wasn’t expecting I think it’s laru could laru yep C Laro gets the shark’s second try of the game and crer will now know he’s only got 60 seconds to take it Butch James calling for a yellow card for Yakov basaki for a very cynical offside but sharks do get their second try and they are looking bit like they’re looking fairly dominant which is not something I’ve said about a shark side in a long time 30 30 minutes in and we could be 123 up and that I’ll be happy with crer oh and crer hits the upright and bounces away so the score will will stay 10 points to three but two tries in the first half so far it’s a good start from the Sharks and thing is like the nice thing is they’re playing with intent they’re going to the corner and coming away with tries and that is just so uncharacteristic of the Sharks recently so it’s nice to see so Lions kick it just inside the Shar 22 Falls to Hatton um David oh Nik niiko stain can come around and steal the ball kick that turned out great because it bounced in field but skipped off the surface and made its way out so the Sharks will need to start again they got seven minutes they got seven minutes could we for the win yeah and they’re going to go for the corner and crer kicks to the corner oh okay so it’s a late tackle no I would say that’s not a late tackle that’s a fortunate penalty for the Sharks uh but we’ll take it so do the Sharks now try a mole which hasn’t worked multiple times I don’t think so I think they should try use their backline I think release the backline so infan goes to Hugo in the middle they do set the all and the Sharks bring their own ball to Ground Three fre Costa Costa at the back to uh oh my God and Muller dupy drops it so cold knock onto the Lions good carries from the Lions players but just since these changes have been made in the backline the sharks have looked so much less uh clinical not clinical uh just basic skills that is such a poor drop from mul dup to see a high tackle against him so less than four minutes to go sharks are now looking a little bit like they’re not going to make it and I hope they do I really hope they do but this is looking risky first contest but In fairness very good game from both sides very good game from both sides uh not I’m disappointed because we should have won but it what a game and yes as as as what James was saying it kind of deserved a draw but promising stuff from the Sharks and that’s what I’m excited about promising stuff from the sharks um but we need a we need like a muku or something or Jordan hendri in
