[Music] hello everyone and welcome along to racing weekly a podcast and YouTube show brought to you by ojer in association with v 365 at Steve Ryder as always alongside me and we welcome at Darby winning jockey broadcaster now Martin D colleague uh on racing TV how are you Martin how how much did you enjoy raset oh I’m good thank you but yeah brilliant watch a week I mean it’s Builders the Olympics of our Sport and it didn’t let us down did it no I mean there are so many highlights that we can probably look back on over the course of our racing recap but overall and a lot of people have mentioned cheltonham in relation to Ron Asar how how would you compare them I mean there was a lot of negativity coming out of it after chelham wasn’t there around field sizes competitiveness and and this was just fantastic I haven’t heard a bad word said around the whole week the attendances were up the atmosphere wandering around the course was fabulous we had a great action actually on the track and and no concern around the grounds no draw bias I just thought it was positive positive positive around the week will L Canad tweeted some some figures all 35 races with eight or more Runners 20 winning jockeys 24 winning trainers eight group ones six of them were won by less than a length like competitive racing it’s exactly what we needed yeah the not different people at the top this week or the last week was one of the big talking points but okay Aiden and Ryan dominated the trainers and the jockey uh standings but there were a number of names that came to the four some fresh faces uh that I think before we get into the nitty-gritty it’s worth reflecting on absolutely yeah I mean if we’re comparing it to chham um it’s just so much more competitive there was it wasn’t all ODS on favorites winning it wasn’t the same people yeah obviously Aiden and Ryan dominated Ryan had six winners but as Steve said there was 24 different winning trainers and um lots of different names going on the trophies with which is great and we had you know winners from Australia France and alongside that we had great stories you know Colin Keane riding a winner for his father and and them throwing him around the the winners you know the winner circle and um they like the young Lads coming through um Billy lochnan having his first winner so Mark Prescott having his first last got winner in how many years yeah since 96 was it P I mean extraordinary it just had it just had everything didn’t it well therefore it sets up nicely for this week’s racing r and we start with the first race on the opening day and that of course was the queen and it went the way of Sharon Martin he’s been a Revit I said revital is probably the wrong word he’s been a horse that has found a new level of form this season um connections were quick to point out afterwards that Sylvester D has been actually quite a big part of that Improvement in helping the horse gain confidence at home yeah I mean he’s he’s been brilliant this year isn’t he he’s only been beating once and that was uh Newry and the Locking where the pacemaker Got Away in front but yeah he started off winning on the first day didn’t he a on cter and he’s just improved and improved and it was a welld deserved group one win um and Sylvester I think his style has suited the horse he just always ridden him positively on the front end and um he just doesn’t lie down does he he’s just a Brave Horse he just keeps trying I’ll come to you in a moment on another subject I’ll start with Steve here because um when they came out the gates two horses decided they were going to go over to the right the rest of the field stayed left um of course one well both horses were very well faned one one of those was Big Rock who produced something incredible last year but hasn’t done it since no there has to be kind of huge I suppose regret from the ugard Centurian horses going leaving Christopher head I think there’s got to be huge question marks around big Rock’s performances and blue r s so far this year kristofh sumon yeah wanted to follow the Royal possession down that strip I I think In fairness to to Maxim G I think he kind of got stuck out there and eventually they both came across but yeah I thought it was interesting tactics which wouldn’t be performed again I thought the the race set out exactly as as most thought it would and I thought it would suit a closer with docklands and Mal June but Chon was just brilliant um Sylvester TOA probably didn’t let audience quite get the same rope as what he did in the lockinge um whether he’s going to um challenge the three-year-old in races like the Sussex Stakes later on I have a question mark over but solid performances probably does set the standard for the older MERS at this stage what was your view of of what the the two jockies did on Big Rock and Factor shal yeah I don’t know what they’re doing really I mean kristofh should know better um I don’t think there was a big difference in the ground but at that level you you need to be they became isolated didn’t they you need to be racing with the pack and um yeah it was a strange course they plotted and they both went there so um um yeah it was it was I think it did have an impact on on the result because they were just left on their own and but as Steve said you know you got to be careful what you wish for these owners moving those horses and they haven’t covered themselves in glory have they um and definitely the way they rode them it was a bit strange but the French jockeys have not covered themselves in glory this season I mean we go back to ramell in the guine I mean that was a clear case of uh premature ejaculation when he pick too soon I think you’ve gone early again yes tou sh um we’re g to just slightly break it up because we’ll stick to the Ming Division if we can um because obviously Steve sort of refers to Sharon being the standard set amongst the older milers now um rosalion won the St James’s Palace Stakes I thought for me the performance of the meeting in terms of eoin talent certainly amongst the older horses there were a couple of two-year-olds that did all right but I thought rosalion was outstanding I thought it was a terrific race maybe notable speech wasn’t quite at its best but in beating Henry longell I thought he established himself as the king of the three-year-old milers for sure couldn’t disagree with it um he’s been brilliant uh Henry Long Fellow bounced back to his best as Aiden said he would ran a great race notable speech you can’t judge him on that run he just didn’t you know he just didn’t put it together at all so I look forward to resilient taking on notable speech again at some point but um I think the three-year-old myess for me Sharon’s been amazing and he deserved to win that group one but when you look back that duckins was two L behind him dockland is a good horse and he probably raises his game ass he always runs well there but if I’d have told you last year he’d be second in a group one you wouldn’t have beli me would you not really no so I think if when they meet in the Sussex which we think they will I’d expect valian to to be beating Sharon I really I’m hearing that it’s possible that Sharon might go for the Jac lalwa and avoid the Sussex which we can understand they’ want to avoid rosalion if they can um because I think I say I think he is the king of the milers I think he will win anything over a m that he goes for this season presuming he doesn’t just get bottomless ground at some point um I think he’ll take all the beating yeah this was one of the most intriguing and most enjoyable races that I think I’ve watched not having a bet in because the way that the race unfolded you kind of looked at the pace M before and thought okay aen O’Brien they’re both going to try and dominate here and set the fractions in front and it’s rare that a horse like Henry Longfellow and and Ryan Mo get a relatively easy lead kick clear and get caught and I thought sha ly was brilliant brazalian again was a bit Keen in the early stages so he got some cover and went the brave route trapped through Henry Longfellow and then went from there I felt a bit sorry for William Buick he also notable speech was a bit Keen had to then switch round and I don’t think that’s his running at all crossing the line the the way that he kind of lost fourth place late on it would be a question mark whether he goes to the Sussex stakes and gets over that R quite so quickly but rosalion I think in that Sussex States a lot of people are saying oh he’ll be really suited coming off a fast pace but I think this horse has everything this reminds me really of Sussex states where it was Toronado against Kingman and Richard Hughes was saying how should I beat him should I go a quick pace and try and draw him out or should I crawl and Sprint I don’t think it will matter I think radian will win the 11 to 10 offer with bet 365 for the stic states I’d actually be quite interested in um especially if the news that Chon will miss the race yeah at the moment it is indeed 11 to 10 Henry Long Fellow 4 to1 with bet 365 Sharon 11-2 Haram 11-2 um interesting to see whether they line him up against that against the stable companion in roselio what do you think of Sha’s ride sha Levy’s ride seems like he has the horse has helped Sha’s riding this season would that be a fair Comon yeah I think Shan has progressed to a top level Rider now he’s always been a good Rider but now he’s winning these Group One races for me the difference between the ride on rosalion and the Irish guiney to the St James’s Palace I think uh Sean just has become more confident and he realizes this horse has got Gears it’s like you know he he he trusts the horse now and it’s it’s like you say it’s um It’s Made sha ride better if if you like um but he’s just got supreme confidence in his horse and I can’t see him getting beat in the Sussex and if we look back uh Richard Hannah he did this with cfor Cliffs didn’t he he was beat in the guies he won the Irish guiney W to St James’s Palace won Sussex so it’s a pathw trodden for Richard Hannah he knows what he’s doing with this horse but Shawn is really it’s it’s been good to watch him grow with the horse and sha is going to be the top level now for the rest of his career I’m pretty sure of that interestingly back to the St James of Palace um I know the trainer the third horse Metropolitan he thought he was very unlucky in running and he made comments so I watched it back a couple of times and I thought I wouldn’t agree with that I could see I think there was some an Ruby did some Ruby I think someone did some analysis that might been Jason um on the run and you can make a case for being a bit closer but I couldn’t see him beating either the second or the winner I mean no rosalion kind of took his ground didn’t he so yeah so he got slightly trapped behind unquestionable and then had to then make his challenge but he didn’t never won no I thought that you read the comments so I went back and watched the race expecting to see something and what’s he on about but we’ve all done that in the past I think have you yeah especially Sport and Everton um Martin referred to an Australian winner and obviously it is great that we get the Internationals um as 401 the King Charles the Third Stakes uh Australia winning the race for the fifth time what sort of level Sprinter over five are we talking about I mean this isn’t the best bunch is it um she stepped forward a lot from her ha do reappearance I didn’t really fancy her for the race but she’s probably taken a step forward for the faster ground she beat the right horses if you look in behind Regional big EVs and believe in are the three that were kind of dominating in the market in behind her um the kind of the the path is going to be obvious for a King George at goodward the nth thought Stakes but you would keep an eye on the weather I think for her because she did really bounce off that faster ground but I think the fact that her kind of I I can’t really call her a mid-level Australian horse but she she was just on the brink of the top 10 out there and she can come over and win our Flagship five furong event at this time of the Season yeah she’s obviously a very good horse because she was I think in perrice had just beaten and she was the the top horse in in Sprinter in Australia um but she’s beaten Regional and big EVS I’d say perhaps big EVS you’d have a bit of hope that maybe at Goodwood he might be able to overturn the form because it’s a quicker five than than Asar would that be a fair call yeah I think it would be um it’s it’s good that the Australians have come over with a horse and they’ve had a winner which is great for sport anyway for rasco but it shows you that we’re weak in the sprinting division this uh this year and probably last year um because you know Regional big ABS they’re the best we’ve got and and this Philly is not a top level group one Philly at home in Australia and she’s come here and wipe the floor with them but you make a fair point on um Goodwood all downhill and then slightly uphill at the end it’s a little bit easier to get away so big EVS could turn the tables on her but she beat them comprehensively didn’t she did she the the visuals of her picking up in the closing stages was was something else so and she also raced away from them through the early part as well um I love the trainer Henry DW he posted some photos or there was some photos posted of him uh the day after and it was just of him on the phone dressed with his top hat on but in a t-shirt and shorts in a bar somewhere I’m not sure where it looked pretty uh I wouldn’t say unsavory but it looked like aan worse for where well he looked like he might have been worse for where that’s a better phrase um any I saw him the next day uh and I said to him I said oh it was great to see you here again I said especially after the photos that I saw on social media goes it’s the photos you didn’t see that was a real thing well why not they took a big RIS abely and he’s not a big trainer obviously is he he’s got about 40 horses so well done um on Wednesday the big race at aset last week was the uh Prince of Wales at Stakes um sadly White Birch didn’t run in it which took out some of the interest but AUST Rodan what can you say about it him other than when he is good he is a wonderful racehorse what was your view of it and what was your view of what is your view of aus Rodell as a as a potential is he getting to the category I he’s won these amazing number of group ones is he getting to the category of being close to great it’s he’s getting there it’s just it’s intriguing isn’t it whenever he runs it’s always is he going to win or finish last and there doesn’t seem to be much in between um personally I think race set up well for him I I think he’s better over a mile and a half I really do agree and um I think we had a pacemaker didn’t we snobbish the French pacemaker went off way too quick yeah and then Hans Anderson obviously the other Balo Runner just laid off him a little bit so they just forced a really strong Pace uh Ryan as ever was well placed on Augusta radan and um he was seeing at his best because it was a true Run 10 F on Race wasn’t it the list of group ones he’s won there’s something extraordinary obviously won the fuity as a two-year-old the Derby the Irish Derby the Irish Champion the Breeders Cup Royal aset Prince of Wales is T I mean that is some CV but you had an interesting observation about the start of the race that I think is worth worth hearing yeah it’s worth watching the start back because Ryan Mo gets a lot of plaudits and everything for the ride on Fairy Godmother where I think personally the horse got him out of trouble but what he does in the first 100 yards of this race is really really interesting because AUST Rodan kind of takes half a f step goes right into aler a little bit out of the stols but Ryan Moore is really really Keen to be prominent on him and I think that might be where he’s kind of spat the dummy out in the past he’s being held up in races and I think it’s really important for him less so the distance I think he was fine over 10 or 12 but I think fast ground and a prominent ride is really important for him because Ryan Moore is at pains to rush him forward to get a prominent position and as a result August Rodan becomes slightly Keen yeah and then because of the paac makers setting that strong Pace he then settles and I I think he only dosses in front I think he only does enough because the the first of all the the third horse Horizon door has a go at him sees him off and then um zarak M then comes and he does exactly the same again so I don’t think he’s ever going to win by a huge wide margin um but yeah he’s he’s really changed my opinion on him and I think he is a real force on Fast ground whichever the distance I know he’s sort of two to one favorite for for the King George next month and if it’s fast ground I I wouldn’t want to B against him well he’s currently two to one favorite bet 365 his St companion City Troy is 7 to2 ambiente Friendly’s 4 to1 blue stocking sixes Luxemburg sevens passenger 10 you’re looking at that and Isa jur who we’ll talk about later his 12s looking at that considering who you’ve got at the top of the market and you know there’s a doubt whether the city of Troy would go for this race after that and Aiden was very keen to say he would have tried to avoid he suggested that running the two against each other City try August R is not on the cards um do you think AUST Roda you said better over a mile and a half did you buy into the theory Ste I think Aiden o BR might have mentioned as well prominent is really key to him he’s got to be in the race um towards the head of Affairs yeah um sorry Steve no um because he Ryan took him out of a forward position in Santa Anita when he won the brether cup yeah that’s he jumped he was on he was close up and he there’s a bit of interference when he come down the hill and he crossed the road on the turf and Ryan was like this horse has got lit up and keen and it was getting a it so he took him back and he put him asleep on the rail like three parts back in the race and it was a brilliant well judged ride but Ryan took him out at the sharp end and put the horse asleep and um and then he W through into his race on one I just think when he turns up he’s unbelievable what stops him turning up then we knew that we’d be we’ know more than Aid no’ Bri what would be the common causes I mean you’ve written horses that have got yeah you know win just blown out yeah it’s fascina I don’t I honestly don’t know I remember watching him in the King George when he trotted over the line and I was like well that and I was like this s’s going to be retired yeah and then Aiden’s like oh I did this wrong I did this I’m going to get him back and he does he gets him back I do think he’s top of the ground a mile and a half is is you know I think that’s his Forte I person I think he win the King George I really do what’s your what’s your opinion on pacemakers because obviously both Hans Anderson and snobbish were were beating 40 lengths trailing back 26 length from Nord North in eighth like is that obtaining the best possible finishing position in that I mean Wayne Lorden even accentuated that by going wide on that I I I like Pacemakers in races but what what’s your opinion as as both an ex jockey and as a pundit now I’ve said for a while I’m surprised trainers don’t use pacemakers more and I think it’s better for the betting public in terms of because you know you’re going to get an assured Pace Emily upj would have won coronation if she had a pacemaker and so I mean this the Philly what’s her name nashar she’d have won more races there’s plenty of horses that if they were just given a an even Tempo doesn’t have to be flat out Gallop that they would um be seeing to the best so I I I actually think if you look back to oh when godolphin and Balor were taking each other on they had pacemakers and some people said oh it ruins the races I personally don’t believe it does I think it makes it more straightforward and it would give the betting public more confidence if they think this horse are the best in the race and they know they’ve got a stable mate who’s going to ensure a consistent Gallop that’s surely got to give you more confidence to back your judgment if you’re talking about great races you go back to the King George of the mid-70s and one of the greatest races of all time is bastino against Grundy and I think I think um dick Hearn ran three pacemakers for bastino to try and drag it completely out of Grandy because bastino would stay all day and he nearly did I mean obviously Grundy was never quite the same horse after that because he was asked to go to the depths of his ability to get through that but yeah pacemakers have generally made I think most of the time they make it more interesting certainly as a viewing spectacle it’s like 2010 2011 they’d like see the stars that Bor run two or three pacemakers you then had Franco come along and you had bullet train run as a pacemaker against Winds of Palace for for St Nicholas Abby like you just knew that it was going to be a strong pace and the best ORS would win yeah they were all pacemakers for see the stars in fairness we talked about Aiden O’Brien’s Brilliance at regular intervals through this uh this podcast through the season um and to the four again in the Gold Cup on Thursday kyprios now we knew that he had serious issues we knew he had that infection and it kept him on the sidelines and then he came back he had a couple of runs last year wasn’t quite the same horse um but actually the extent to which he was in danger of you know surviving then racing I mean Aiden was adamant in that he had had to teach him how to walk shot run everything again been remarkable to come back and win the goal cup yeah this has to be up there with one of his training performances and he had him spot on as well we had kind of different opinions lyia and on on our preview around I was confident that Kos would be the one to beat and Lydia had her rations around him I think William Buick probably would have loved Ben W de to had a bit more control of K corer because he was controlling the race and then K scus kind of got lit up on the outside but the way that Ki prios traveled into the race was the real real thing for me because he’s he’s always in the past needed needed encouragement from the saddle even in the cad round when he won by 20 L he was pushed along for the last half a mile or so but the way that he traveled I thought Ryan was in complete control and yeah I thought it was a great race to watch a good ride from Ryan Mo but an even better training performance by Ed o’ and how good a stay is he as he became the third horse to regain the Gold Cup title in in history well that tell that stat tells you how hard it is to to win these races The Gold Cup and kyos is is the best and he when he burst onto the scene and he just looked like he was going to be the best and then unfortunately he had that injury didn’t he um I think Ryan’s learned more about the horse as well I don’t know if you it’s two contrasting rides when he was beaten by trollman on different ground and last year in the champion stays um Ryan sent him early didn’t he kick for home and Frankie sat and then came back and got him so um I think Ryan’s realized you know not to pull the trigger too soon he’s got to get m ated but he didn’t he he was didn’t really want to hit the front did he no he actually said after the race in a brilliant interview on ITV um who interviewed him not L to say andaro um but he actually said in the interview after the race immediately he said he thinks he he nearly got it just right he kind of didn’t quite time it to Perfection because there was that moment that troller man just came at him again but he’s he’s different class ker us when he’s did his best he’s too good there’s nothing that can beat him around at the moment anyway and if he remains in that type of form and and now Ryan has learned more and more about the horse I mean even when he won the Cadron remember he swerved off and then he went into the paddock again still won by still he’s got I don’t even think we’ve seen him at his best in the go cup I think I think he’s better than that and there could be more to come but Tran’s up his game now because he was beat a length by kypros I know he beat him last year but he was um he ran poorly in Dubai well he didn’t run poor he fourth wasn’t he in Dubai but Kieran schumach said he didn’t handle the fast ground that day but he clearly handled a Ascot yeah so we could see more interesting battles between them two it’s going to be interesting to see how they campaigned Kos because he he had a real hard campaign didn’t he he went from winning this to the Goodwood cup to the IRS leder to the cadran and now that he’s back from this injury is whether they yeah really kick on with him I I wonder whether they’d go the sort of Yates plan would be maybe two more runs this season and then build up to the C cup again next year similar sort of story um you could imagine he could be a horse that could win four goal cups um next year would have probably been the fourth if he was Fit and Well and was able to run in the race last year okay um I think s William needs two and three quter miles but a fine run back in third what about vban he’s an on stayer isn’t he yeah he didn’t stay trip did he he he ran a good enough race though to think if you send him back to Melbourne yeah fast ground he bounced off it but yeah came there looking slightly a danger but just didn’t get the trip he also got really worked up before the race as well so I think all in all was a decent effort um let’s change T from obviously one of the longer races at the Royal meeting to uh sprinting and the Commonwealth Cup on Friday saw in AAR and justify the uh decision to supplement him for the race sadly Elite status came out of the race vanique came out of the race so a little bit Hollow in some senses but I’m huge you know I’m a fan of him as a sprinter I thought he was Majestic through the race I mean Tommy must have been thinking this is as good as it gets and as easy as it gets yeah for his back cuz there wasn’t really a moment’s worry was there um really high cruising speed you can put him anywhere in the race he has no no question marks around ground he won the Sandy Lane on soft he won this on good to firm I mean The Season’s very much plotted out isn’t it for these for these threey old sprinters you’ll go July cup PR Mor geese Spring Cup back here for Champions day and yeah he’s five- two favorite with bet 365 for the July cup and he’s a worthy favorite isn’t he yeah well he is when you consider the vanique and Elite status the two horses that he was due to me um they’re next in the market is six to one and 8 to one kin Ross 8 to one Buccaneer who also miss Race 10 English Oak 10 Regional 10 I mean he’s got the potential to really stamp as Authority on the sprinting division which you would sort of suggested I know five fell on six fell on slightly different things but overall we don’t have a truly Top Class Sprinter but he would be the leading candidate to do that I think we do have a top class Sprinter I think he is one I love him I think he’s I think he won that with a lot in hand um and don’t forget he wasn’t piing far in the guies no and it was only the last half of Fong so he probably a seven Fon horse as well but I just think he’s top class he just I I thought he’d beat vanique when he won to Sandy and I really did um he’s just progressed from two to three he looks a bigger stronger horse than van that’s it he a physical his physical presence is majestic I think what price you for the July cup 5 to2 to 5 to two that’s generous I I don’t think he’ll get beat I’m with you um he and rosalion I think we point we said said it earlier in the season they’re both grandsons of re 3 the dam and again in another very good interview on ITV last week why did you make that face when I do because you know self-promotions no promotion I don’t know who did the interview but it was with SH Muhammad oade Al mom the best bit about it was that both horses are going to remain in training next year I did hear that yeah that’s great which is fantastic a half at one time I thought rosalion could be a sprinter he’s that quick and he’s got you know how would you price it seven fogs a roselan fast ground rallan yeah I’d have him very short to beat anyone shorter than four to six having one to two would you yeah in a sharan is good enough to win a group one or seven I’m convinced of that but against a Ros alion he give him a lovely toe through with me he might just have a bit too much but what a position to be in they’ll surely keep this ini year at the sprinting Division and you know I think R’s ultimate go is the brus cup mile that’s the and that should suit him down to the ground at delmare yeah um all right any more observations on the Commonwealth cup because the other point about that race and I’ve mentioned it on this show before the race has been it’s subject to scrutiny under the pattern um obviously with a couple of horses coming out it’s really important that Narin establishes himself as that horse because it’s for threey old sprinters early early on in the season anyway suppose with June but um I think it’s an important race I think it’s yeah I mean Lake Forest I think he’ll progress don’t forget he was a good winner at the gym crack I think and William haggis’s team he’s been having plenty of winners and but they’ve not really fired on all cylinders yet this season and I think Lake Forest could springboard from that second in the Commonwealth to to go on and win some nice races Jess was probably a bit too key as well in third like I thought he was over that tendency CU he he looked he looked better last time and more tractable under under Jim Crowley but yeah he he was back to his old tricks of being too Keen early on all right let’s talk about the coronation Stakes uh no Fallen Angel sadly uh taken out of the race late in the day uh portal Fortuna uh turned over the form with El Mala and ratell from New Market did you see that did you see Porta Fortuna having that I thought of all the runners at New Market she was the one who had the most straightforward W run and that there were no excuses but do you think she went under the radar a little bit P vuna we talk about pedigrees in um with horses but the o’ban family I mean this just unbelievable and donica great training performance you know he decided to miss the Irish guiney and said no we’re going to keep her fresh and get her ready for Royal Asar and that Philly I mean she’s been everywhere she’s she’s kept her form throughout last year and this year I think it was a great training performance and a great riding performance from Tom marand as well and I mean it was a really stylish win I thought yeah I think a lot of the horses in and around be interesting to see what how the season unfolds I’ve heard that El Mala will probably Step Up in distance for the Nassau and what what would you do with opera singer since she’s been tipped for the arkc in one or two places yeah I I think she will need to go up in trip I’d go to 10 Fong first though um something like the nasau stakes I think pretty probably probably come too soon um but I she stepped forward loads from her Irish 1,000 Guin it’s nice to see the the big four finish in the first four places where Matel was obviously really well backed with theim Murphy on board and I I think aelian lra could probably say was it aan lra um New Market yeah can probably say ah maybe I didn’t go too soon could no excuses for there was no excus he been happy with that result that’s for sure yeah but um yeah it did look like it on all the tens purpose he did go to to soon a new market we’ll never know but ocean rode a quiet a race and for me she just didn’t didn’t have it did she she didn’t pick up no she ran well she ran well but pter Fortuna was a convincing winner of the race if if she gets fast grounding in the family she’s 3 to1 favorite with with that 365 for that she she takes him beating because she’s obviously got that new market form as well hasn’t she from the Chev part yeah operating a 4 to1 a l roller eights she obviously ran well in the French in the Irish guine uh Laurel eights elala 10 butus think it seems as if the Nassau was on her Target as it might be for opera singer do you see opera singer as a potential AR course I don’t know it’s is it in a pedigree to get that far there’s stamina on the downside there is um I actually think she was only beaten a length by Porter forun and she had to work harder from stall nine Ryan had to really it’s a big difference because the winner was drawn five and Tom just slotted in behind and I know it was a great race winning move it’s kind of halfway he moved off the heels the horse in front so he he was just one off the rail so he he wasn’t going to get stuck behind the horse that Dro back on him Ryan had to work hard from stall now to get there and then he’s you know he’s only beaten a length I think he would have run a bit closer with a better draw I think she got plenty of speed to be looking at a mile and a half but just going to have a look at the arc prices uh cyia try 5 to one look to Vega 6 economics 12 e AIA 12’s August 14 opera singer 16 to1 with bet 365 currently for the arc deas tipped by how long ago did you tip deas about three four weeks ago yeah 50s at the time yeah 20s now yeah was impressive the other day yeah he’s a proper Arc course yeah like yeah I love him the AR picture just changes so much though doesn’t it from now till till then there’s a lot of water to flow under a lot of bridges a lovely phrase that is thank you thank you let’s talk about one of the Feelgood stories at aset and it came on Friday in the Hardwick Stakes is of Jura from a jockey’s perspective um obviously Jorge Scott a first Royal AET winner and Callum Shepard though the there was a lot of emotion from him after the race yeah it wasn’t a Jos but you know it’s as a jocker you compete in every day and Callum he took that really hard losing a ride on ambient friendly and everybody most people in racing thought why did he need to lose the rid forget about who’s going to replace him that’s that doesn’t really M like Callum had worked really hard on that horse cuz he was very keen in in in the spring and he’d been in riding him out and um he he he he was part of the team and he helped the horse become where he is and he gave him a good ride in the lingfield um Derby trial so to lose that ride hit him hard so to bounce back and ride a win at Royal aset by his emotions and you see how much it meant to him and it was great it was good I’m really pleased for him it’s the best way to um pick yourself up off the canvas and of course he he paid tribute and um acknowledged obviously how tough it’s been since the loss of Stefano kerki as well um so his emotions must have been all over the place as uh was evidenced um after that success but the quality of the performance I thought was quite striking I thought it was certainly more impressive than I thought he had in the locker after that I know he did well in Bahrain and then he won it good with I didn’t see that no I was right to take on continuous but did it with the wrong horse yes um but yeah George Scott’s training performance him for what he did for Bahrain brought him back here was a non-runner in the Brigadier Gerard stakes and then ran the day after for for a bit of better ground um goodward perfectly positioned by by Callum Shepard stretch clear four length at the Finish like it was it it was a really really good performance I can see exactly why they want to come back for the King George um he’s 12 to1 with bet 365 for that race now I mean I wouldn’t be in a rush to take on orust ran as I touched on earlier in the show but he yeah he deserves his place in that lineup yeah what what did you think of the horse performance I thought it was a great performance um and the hores just progressed it’s good training you know he he won three races in barain didn’t he and he’s just got better with each run and he won nicely at Goodwood and he stepped up again to to take the Hardwick can he win a King George doubtful for me I think that might just be a step too far at this stage but he deserves to take his place for sure absolutely um uh Saturday the big race of course was the Queen Elizabeth thei Jubilee stakes and who won the race last year caused a surprise has won it again again causing a surprise In fairness swing Along R ran a mighty race and she looked like she had the all in trouble but then you look behind and Hasen Murphy traveled really kindly on cardom he said early part of the race didn’t travel that well but then he came onto the bridal um I don’t know what to say about cardom I mean who would have thought this horse has done what he’s done in the last two seasons yeah he’s the epitome of inconsistent isn’t he extraordin finished last but on on his reappearance of she Murphy doing his best Jamie Spencer impression um yeah I mean the fact that he’s 16 to1 for the July cup with bet 365 kind of says it all because you don’t know what to expect with him but the straight mile at the straight six fongs at Ascot obviously really suits but yeah I I wouldn’t still be in am to back him yeah it wasn’t it wasn’t the sort of race that you’re going to think yeah this is strong form is going to work out I think it’s just a testament to connections that they’ve kept him sweet um I think uh the the lad leading him up was just saying just just just love it’s all you need all you need is love that’s what the Beatles said Thank You Martin he was an eight listen let’s put it into context for me it wasn’t a group One race I’m being critical I know but I think it was a poor um I think it was a poor race for the standard and for the prize money and for kadim to win it the age of eight yeah three pounds lower than he was when he won it last year wasn’t exactly in great form but he comes alive at Ascot he loves the track and it’s amazing howy horses do run so much better we spoke about doland’s finishing second you know he obviously loves Ascot and card him Jim Haye said earlier in the week of his two Runners he said don’t rule out this body you know he loves it here and and he proved that yet again but I I think it was a pretty weak race I really do for group one standard I think that’s fair um so those were the the main races through the week but as you can imagine there were a host of performances elsewhere that deserve a mention um I’ll start with you Martin and I might just focus down on the two Aiden O Brien tal Phillies Fairy Godmother and bedtime story both in their own ways hugely impressive Fairy Godmother from that awkward position through the race with Steve I think you know even Ryan would admit the horse got him out of trouble I think he did didn’t he he said afterwards I think Ryan’s face said it all you could read his mind he’s like what I what I sat on here you know I’ve ridden in many many races I’ve won races I’ve lost races but that Philly should not have won that race she shouldn’t have won that race she was halfway she’s over racing there was a point where Ryan went to go a little bit closer he just asked her to move closer a couple of feet and she just took off and then he’s had to reain the back and then he’s gone one way then he’s gone the other he must have been thinking oh my this the worst ride in history when he’s got to the two- pole he must have think and then all of a sudden when he switched her out sort of four lanes width and four she just took off hands and heels I mean that was a stunning Victory she must be top draw which one if you had to choose one definitely her over bedtime story yeah bedtime story was I mean she was impressive and she just kept Galloping the away she was always handily placed and she never had anything go wrong for it she had a clear sh and she was by far the best in the race and she’s battered them but what that Philly did was just special you you shouldn’t be winning races like that I’m sorry it should not happen yeah she is just an airplane and you know Ryan has been brilliant all week and um but even when he does make a mist M AK or two like with that Philly she just got him out of trouble and yeah there was no mistakes on bedtime story Ryan’s been riding everyone to sleep all week so it’s probably apt that may we told a a story about his fairy godmother maybe he did uh but that was a dream it was a dream come true Ryden her fairy Grand that I’m telling you that was just that was an unbelievable win it was uh if you are interested in the 1,000 guine betting for next year with bet 365 bedtime stories three to one and Fairy Godmother is six to one really yeah is that because of it’s a mile suppos you showed a lot of pace didn’t she I think she’s got a pedigree for a while anyway so yeah it’s rare that they’ve got a night night of Thunder isn’t it yes so it’s rare pedigree wise looking at pedigree the pedigree of bedtime story is is quite interesting being obviously Frankle out of Mecca’s Angel like Mecca’s Angel won nine races all over five furong in her career obviously a couple of non thorps but yeah you’d all automatically think a chesham horse would go up in trip but yeah I couldn’t dream a backing enough or anything like the Oaks at the minute so how do you see those two Phillies are you with Martin that Godmother’s the one it’s all about price in this game isn’t it yeah and at a bigger price yeah I I was I was bl by Fair god mother I watched races at at different places at Ascot in the week and I was right down on the course and obviously the way that ascot’s set up they race a bit higher than where you are yes and Ryan Moore obviously was closest to us on this side and yeah the way that she properly quickened on that ground was yeah wildly impressive okay um what else did you want to mention from last we ask I’ve got a few beaten horses that I think is worth keeping an eye on a winner was obviously English Oak and there’s been a lot of talk around the July Cup in afterwards and whether he’d have to pace for that I think you might be slightly trying to do a Gareth Southgate and put a square peg in in a round hole with that I think he’s a s, on horse I think races like the lenux the city y be more his his bag than going straight into Ed Walker say he’s going to walk work backwards from the foray that would be the logical step I think he sees him as as a seven furong horse as well I I get why they think the six furong division is weak and they they want to have a go at that but yeah I I’m not sure whether on that faster ground okay over six fongs would be for him um just a quick shout out for Gavin Cromwell he had two Runners at the meeting U Mighty Erin finished a slightly unlucky second in the Queen Mary at 50 to1 and my mate Mozzy finished finished third at 12 to1 on the first day so two Runners and both to hit the frame at Big prices both beaten less than two length I thought was was a good training performance and he’s worth noting whatever he runs at the meeting next year I thought Holloway boy really caught the eye in the Royal hunt cup didn’t get the clearest of passages through stayed on well finished fifth beaten two and a quarter length he’s by ules he’s never raced further than a mile so I think if they step him up to a mile and two next time I thought they might go for something like the the John Smith’s cup but he’s not in that which which surprised me I’m hoping to see him over over 10 furong sooner rather than later uh I thought indelible was just on the wrong side of the track in the Sandringham she was beating three and a quarter length at the finish the handicapp has put her up a pound so he’s trying his best to try and put her up from there um she should be winning off that Mark sooner rather than later behind English Oak I thought the one that caught the eye was Carri the one huge eye capturing third absolutely flew home when he got a gap on the stand side um I was tempted to put him up for the bumber cup still a double figure price I think 10 to one would bet 365 for that um he won on the rolling Mar over seven furong a month ago off a mark of 99 he was only two pounds higher here the handicap has left him unchanged despite finishing a close third I think it have finished second behind English o with a clear run um and then a horse that didn’t run at Ascot but got a form boost with Perfect part in from the Hillary Needler that form has worked out really really well the second morean finished a close fourth in the Queen Mary and Aviation time the third finished third in The Winds of Castle so even though she was 125 to1 that form was working out really well and because she went off 125 to one she could be overlooked on her next start all right that’s fly Train by Bryant Ellison anything else you want to mention from as Martin um Illinois thought was a decent winner of the Queens vs we’ve still got one classic left yeah The Ledger can he go on and win The Ledger as last year’s winner did yeah I thought it was uh it wasn’t flashy but it was a it was a good enough performance I don’t know what the price price is for the ledge out do you think they might put head gear on was a bit wward in the finish I thought a pair of cheap pieces might be he’s 5 to one second favorite at the moment behind Los Angeles right yeah I I just thought the way he won was in the style of a horse that it’s a good possibility they put headgear on but I just think he had loads more left in the tank I think he’ll progress I think I think the Ledger would suit him just I just watched him win I thought you’ve won that what did he win a length a length and a quarter but I thought on another day and different circumstan he could have won two or three lens yeah I just thought he was one for the notebook for The Ledger all right I mean there were a host of performances we may touch on Pledge of Allegiance a little bit later on uh running line I think this sort of track ASA really suit her I thought she got a terrific ride from Rim Murphy as well um a tip of the hat to side bin s 39th winner for him in what has been a trying season Wild Tiger uh winning the hunt cup for him uh Doha with her pedigree and looks like she’s going she’s improved quite I think Ro Becka is very patient through last year and it’s been a slow approach and it’s paying off now um so that was that was quite smart and I really like the performance of kandan in the in the King Edward that was I mean he won with six lengths and be interesting if he came back for the King George I think they out have they already yeah Champion Stakes apparently I I kicked myself when I looked back at him because I I kind of looked through his form and went ah he’s won a couple of heavy ground races in France and I completely missed that he was by Glenn Eagles and might actually improve for the faster ground so as soon as he went clear I went oh no you’ve missed one there he can’t run in the AR can he no no what’s the race that sir was used to run it was it the dollar the dollar so that’s open for gild so they could yeah they could do that or 10 fongs I think he’s got plenty of speed it was rare like he made up a lot of ground he was of settled in in the last three that was really impressive he he he bolted upand one can I mention one please Martin Prince of Wales alaa yes I thought was very unlucky I don’t think he’d have won but um he wasn’t beaten miles and um he just got stopped in his run twice he’s a nearly horse this Val he’s it’s going to land for him one day because he’s he’s he’s good enough to be group one to win a group one he was very unlucky in the Irish Champion Stakes yeah didn’t get going soon enough exactly yeah and Jim Crowley had a nightmare of a run in the Prince of Wales could we see him York maybe well he’s in the eclipse and we were talking about this earlier whilst we were waiting for you um sorry just joking traffic traffic mate but we were talking about the eclipse so City Troy’s four to six favorite August r five he’s not going to run um they don’t want to run them against each other passenger may or may not run 5 to one white birch 7 to one may or may not run is he all right luxemburg’s unlikely to go up against City Troy he’s more likely to go with a g red on over a mile and a half Horizon door is that a big danger Emily upjn is due to run this weekend Henry Longfellow not gonna run he’s going to run the Sussex obviously isn’t he ala at the moment is 14 to1 for that race I thought each way he would be an interesting yeah that’s that’s too big a price each way yeah he would have been I he could well have been second to austa ro down the other day if you watch the race back twice he got stopped in the end you could just see Jim oh having a May and he’s just been so unlucky when it drops for him he’s going to get his head in front he’s going to win one of them big big group One races hugely Progressive until he ended up running in the RS Champion he finished fifth that day didn’t he yeah that was his first run as well of the season so Jim was um Jim was said he should have won the Irish Championship Stakes that’s what he told me yeah I was thinking more the Lin of York if he goes there but I can’t see him beating City Troy in the eclipse but each way massive that’s way too big okay well well I think that about wraps up this week’s racing recap now before we get into our weekend preview just to let you know that our sponsor bet 365 have a best odds guaranteed offer it’s available on every single UK and Irish race from 8:00 a.m. on the day of the race if you take a price and the SP is bigger bet 365 will pay you at the bigger odds full teasen sees can be found on the website and so to this weekend and the big race uh certainly Newcastle is the north umberland plate um so Mark Prescott looks like he’s got seemingly uh a strong hand um we don’t know absolutely for sure at this stage whilst we’re recording this definitely who’s going to line up um but Pledge of Allegiance could do uh Trooper bsdi um true legend all could represent him um alfons LR is the8 to1 favorite at the moment with bet 365 along with grand Providence Pledge of Allegiance also co-favorite pidn who ran in the Gold Cup 10s um whether he’ll turn out again zofie Chester Cup winner 10 Duke of Oxford 12s uh one Smooth Operator 12s Yashin 12s and then 14s baros um I’ll start with you Martin what do you fancy here I fancy Duke of Oxford shame said oh L I know poor Michael Bell yeah I I I think he was second in the all weather championships um and he was very unlucky in the Chester cup it just was a you just put a line through it it’s a nightmare of a race sometimes he’s he’s off 90 he’s got eight stone six I think if he gets a a good draw I think he’s got a massive chance I think Newcastle will suit him much better as well I think that style of racing that that all weather track suits him he’s a strong traveler normally he can he’ll have plenty of time up the straight at Newcastle 12 to1 with bet 365 that’s two votes for Duke of Oxford Steve yeah I respected his chance is like you said the Chester Cup bad draw um I thought the winner of that was the kind of the obvious one zofie um you’ve kind of got to forgive him as disappointed running this last year he sent off 9 to1 off a mark of 95 was only a pound lower this year but he won the consolation race the year before that so he has got form over this course in distance orbe it off a 10 pound lower Mark but I was just impressed with his his run in the Chester Cup last time on his return from hurdling and there might just be a bit more to come for him I thought he was a fair eway price at is he about 10 to one we bet 365 in this and yeah I just thought he was kind of the solid one Harry David was all right again okay zofie 10 one with back 365 Duke of Oxford 12 those are the two plays between the three of us for the north umland plate the Irish Derby of course on Sunday uh the big race of the weekend at the Kura uh ambiente friendly needs to be supplemented but that’s the intention and currently 5 to four with bet 365 Los Angeles 6 to4 um not sure about Arabian Crown I don’t no heard um Roger ven’s Keen to run matri 8 to one possibly ability that ancient wisdom might go de a mile 14s and 14s um ambiente friendly versus Los Angeles or do you see outside of the two no I do think it’s between the top two in the market I I thought Los Angeles straight after Epsom I thought was was ideal for this a no Brian’s record and this is ridiculous he’s one a record 15 times like I don’t think Epson would have suited Los Angeles he’s a big son of Camelot he was kind of a bit angsty in the parade ring um down at the start I think to the certain extent I think he was on his last chance actually going into the Stalls and whether he’d run or not um I don’t think he was in love with the track at Epsom I know that he’s got kind of three length to find with ente friendly I thought they might drop in trip with ente friendly He travel strongly in his races I I thought 10 furlongs might be the way to go with him I thought this big Galloping track long straight would really suit Los Angeles and yeah I thought six to four was is a bigger price than I was expecting straight after the race albeit obviously now that amb an friendley is likely to be supplemented you got I think I think Ambi friendly be hard to beat um I wouldn’t be concerned about the mile and a half I can see your point for maybe dropping back but he was second to a good winner wasn’t he beat everything else easily he beat Los Angeles Epsom I think he’ll beat him again I know Aiden said we’ll see another a different horse but he says that way every horse doesn’t he and he’s right most of the time but Ambi friendly beaten fair and square and um I actually I’m not criticizing Robert havin he wouldn’t to beat the winner and Derby but he kind of sat and waited it was sometimes you can overweight yeah the horse is going to stay or it’s not as long as you don’t kick half a mile out but you need to get your your revs up you can’t just go from sat still to everything and he kind of just he probably I think in hindsight would get him rolling a bit a little bit earlier and I think the track will suit him so I I really struggle to see him getting beat I think Mator run a big race for a price do yeah I thought he was impressive at Leicester I I was saying the second came out and got beaten off 77 in a handicap I know he beat him eight lengths and he yeah I tipped the second that day as well but I was impressed with him and I thought physically he looked great and he looked like he’ll improve from that I think Roger var’s probably the one New Market trainer that his horses are flying they’re all flying there a lot of them big yards are slightly slightly out of um out of form but I think matori what price is he he is 8 to one oh I thought he was bigger than that I think he’s a to one because there’s a bit uncertainty about some of the others and who’s going for the race I’m with I’m with you I like ambient friendly as well my my reading I think everyone knows the Cara mile and a half is a less demanding mile and a half than the Epsom and he traveled the bet he travel like the best horse in the race he was the last one off the bridal even cyia Troy was at it before he was um the only thing that nags is the aen O’Brien record at the Cara and the fact that he’s likely to have three or four runners in the race yeah he he will have a team plan and team tactics but the good thing about Ambu friendly is he started to settle much better now and uh they put that new bit on him they put a ring bit in him which gives the jockey more control and he’s quick out the gates and he’s got a lot of early pace so Robert havin will be able to get the best position or wherever he sees fit is the best position so if he wants to race handy or you know the horse is a lot more amable now so um he’s the right type of horse to be riding if you’re riding against three or four Bal do runners if that makes sense I see because he’s got he’s got toe hasn’t he yeah he’s got tactical speed to get you where you want to be get you out of trouble and travel strongly so yeah he’s the right type of horse okay uh another group one at the C this weekend is the pretty poly Stakes it’s possible could be strong British representation in that with blue stocking uh Emily opj also looking like she’s heading there if I’d said to you at the start of this year that come middle to end of June that neither inspiral nor Emily upjn would have really put up a performance in was a four races between them now the season that has bothered the judge I mean it’s quite surprising I mean I think this is a great opportunity for blue stocking me too if you remember on our Dante Festival review I said this race straight after because I thought she’d improve for the 10 Fong yeah I thought this dropping trip there was always question marks around her her finishing effort over a mile and a half but I think I think last time that that dropped to 10 furong really sued as well as the application of the cheap pieces I know she wore them on Champions day yeah um but I I was really really impressed with her she’s got form when she goes over to Ireland as well she was second beaten half a length in the Irish Oaks and yeah she won by six length beating Rock Solid free wind like yeah I I it’ll be interesting to see who rides because Colin Keane rides a fair few of the the kind of jmont horses that go over to to Ireland rer in the Irish Oak so whether Ross or or Colin King goes over it wouldn’t bother me I’d be with her I think she’s around the even money favorite Emily upjn I don’t think the the drop to 10 fongs will will be a hindrance to her because she’s a strong traveler in the race but I was really taken with blue stocking last time yeah it’s the Emily up John who ran against Padington the eclipse turned up she’d be a strong candidate but is she the same Emily up John and you mentioned about the New Market Stables not really certainly John Goen or the John and th Goen team not quite firing as well as they can yeah I mean it’s crazy to say cuz did did John and T they finished second in the trainers championship at Royal ascar but they’re not having a great season by their own standards and they’ve had a few of the top level horses that have just been underperforming but Emily upjn if she comes back anywhere there like a best I mean she beat West over in the coronation that race that form of that race win this race by about eight lens I personally think she’ll turn it I think she’ll win I do I take on Blue stocking every day of the week I think blue stockin’s a solid horse I mean she didn’t win a race last year she finished placed in a lot of good RAC few more though she seemed to be reluct to get it done yeah and she put a bit of distance between herself and the field when she won at York free wind is a decent horse but it’s not group one for him I think she’s going to have to raise a game quite a b B blue stocking I think she’s well worth taking on at even money is that what she is now yeah around even money yeah I I take her on all day and I think Emily up John dropping back to fongs it just means the pace of the race will be more generous so she should be able to switch off if it’s the smaller field the better there’s eight Runners Emily upjn could sit last switch I think that’s where Kiera made the mistake at Epsom um CU she when she won the coronation last year she sat last of in a good field cuz she just gets tooo competitive if she race upsides other horses she gets too Keen she over traveled her Epsom and that was a downfall if there’s seven or eight runners in this race on on Saturday she could sit last and beat these I’m confident there all right uh so we had a look at North umberland play Irish Derby and Pretty Polly is there anything else this weekend that either of you want to start with that you want to mention right now yeah there’s a group three at Newcastle on Friday over Maron 2 Che Coline is is enter in that she was an unlucky second Epsom behind Bree both her and Royal dress ran okay in the Duke of Cambridge that form yeah wasn’t inconvenienced from there she’s W from one on the all weather she won a maiden here a year ago they ski Ras got to come to this race and the Step Up in trip to 10 furong should suit her I expect her to run well against her Elders in receipt of the weight allowance for that um and then one that’s quite interesting in the in the 340 on Saturday is salvio um was a really impressive three and a quarter length winner at Windsor in first time blinkers over six furong last time like that is the best performance he’s put in by an absolute marile so if those blinkers work a trick again the handicapp has put him up eight pounds but he two from two on the tapita including winning an obice race under a penalty over five fongs here um yeah he’s currently 14 to1 not jocked up yet so probably not an anti poost um bet at this time but if he was declared I thought salvu was interested in the 340 and then just something to I was going through some of the Irish entries and the railway Stakes Aden o br’s going to probably have a short price favorite based on his his two-year-olds but looking at it he hasn’t had a winner in the race for the last five years in those five years he’s had 10 Runners including beaten favorites of 5 to six 15 to8 and 5-2 so maybe one to take on if you have an Aiden Brian short price favorite in the raway stes okay I certainly endorsed the sheet Colin bind stepping up in trip I thought she was hugely interesting in the hoppings um anything else before we get to our Best Bets a bit later on um I I think king of Conquest will win a listed race at New Market I think he’s um you how dare I say he looks like a certainty oh he’s 11 to8 for the Fred Archer and a Eric who’s second him last time was three to one I mean and he beat him easily at Goodwood didn’t he I think he he will be winning it’s continuous is he going to run in uh the Kur on Saturday he was a horse I was a bit disappointed with last time yeah quick turn around I’ll be surprised I think might save him for something else yeah but um yeah all my eggs are going to be the Emily upjn basket okay Emily up John um yeah I’m with king of Conquest king of conquest and CH Colin bander the two horses I was interested in this week king of Conquest I think it’s a straightforward task you look at who else is up against Chrystal Delight although he’s been very good this season he’s got to find more um I don’t think they’ll run Kamari against king of Conquest DOA Legend hasn’t really recaptured his best and then kind of hoping that the others produced something that they haven’t done so far so 11 to8 at the moment it looks too good doesn’t it and it looks a stepping stone race for for something else probably a trip trip to America imagine um yeah obviously I mentioned about she Coline in the hopping so uh that’s a brief look at the weekend’s action before we get into our Best Bets of the weekend just to let you know a free-to-play six horses challenge it’s available every weekend with prize polls available for five and four correct predictions as well as a jackpot for all six T’s and C’s apply it is time now for our Best Bets of the week and Martin is our guest so Martin gets the opportunity to go first my best bet of the week comes in the pretty po Stakes Emily up John to get her season back on track I think she wins she’ll sit last in a small field and she’ll come around them and win going away she’s a multiple group one win Philly and she’ll do it again straightforward Emily upch against Blue stocking what about you Steve yeah Mar is going for one to bounce back to form um I’ve also taking a chance um in the criteria Stakes at New Market on Saturday it looks as though the race could cut up wit Hunter Tyber flow kin Ross and Mr Sketch all have other entries over the weekend neither Pogo or poet Master are yet to be jocked up either so it could be a race that cuts up significantly I’m going to have a Last Chance Saloon on nostrom um I’m really hoping a combination of a gilding operation and the return to New Market could spark him back to form now you want a group three at the Mar at two then finished third in the jeur behind Chine who obviously went on to win the 2,000 guine one on his reappearance last season on the July course that was an impressive three length win on good to firm ground now his last two runs have been an absolute disaster but they’ve now gelded him if that does the trick he’s still rated 112 on his revised rating so he still nearly the best horse in the race I think 9-2 is a very fair price to find out if he still retains that potential okay um I have been thinking about Tyber flow but it appears like according to the jockey bookings he may so as we’re recording this program uh Tom Maran booked to ride him at New Market in that Criterion States but uh no one’s booked to ride him in the chip Chase which of course is the race he won last year so I presume that he may be going up against nostrom Noble Dynasty and Pogo in the Criterion in which case I’m going to hold fire because I would have preferred him in the chip CHS I’ll be honest he won the last year obviously he had that horrible fall at York and I thought considering what he did at hok last time out going back to the chip Chase um would have suited him down to the ground he won it staying on really strongly in the R so I liked him um so as a backup I was going to put up King of Conquest I thought the 11 to8 right now was a a gift um I think king of Conquest will win the Fred Archer at New Market on the weekend um looking at the opposition there’s nothing in there to be concerned about he thumped a meric last time uh and of the others they will have to improve enormously what they’ve shown so far so uh king of Conquest I know he a shorty I don’t often give shorties but fingers crossed he gets the job done um that’s just about it um Martin just before we go how are you enjoying your second career it’s good yeah I’m getting paid to talk nonsense I’ve been doing it for free my whole career so yeah no it’s great I’m it’s great to still be involved and obviously a Mis riding and especially the big festivals and stuff but really enjoying it you went to you did go to ask got on the weekend I was there on the first day yeah yeah and then I was working at um some of the other tracks okay uh Steve you’ve done a fair tour of the big events this year have you got anything Newcastle no bit bit far from me okay so I’m going to try and avoid getting a duck at the cricket this weekend Oh a duck last week what a shame that hard hard yards when you get a duck and then it was a hot day so you just fielded in the sunshine yeah fielded for 40 overs got least you worked on the tan yeah well that’s it for this edition of racing weekly brought to you by odd cheer in association with bet 365 thank you very much to Darby winning jockey uh Martin DWI and cricketer Steve Ryder for joining me on this show as always if you like what you’ve heard or watched in this or any of our previous episodes leave us a kind review on Apple podcast or in the comment section on YouTube we’re going to take a little break and then we’ll be back with a preview of the Irish Oaks meeting and Jamie Lynch will be our special guest but for now from the team here bye-bye [Music]

What happened to middle earth
LET THE GREATEST OF ALL TRAINERS TOP HAT JOHNIE G . AND HIS EQUALLY TALENTED SON THADY ( WHO PERHAPS NEVER RODE A RACE HORSE WHILE TRAINING LIKE THE ORDINARY IN LATE SIR HENRY CECIL ) PLAY THE JEWISH STRADAVARIUS AT THE EXPENSE OF A LA FRANCO DETTORI BECAUSE OF A COMMENT ABOUT A LAME AND OLD HORSE IN A GROUP 1 EVENT .
JOHNIE G. SHOULD BE BESTOWED WITH A KNIGTHOOD WITH THE CURRENT TOPIC OF ISRAEL AND PALESTINIAN WAR EVEN AT COST OF THE GAME BEING INSTRUMENTAL IN RELEGATING THE ASCOT FESTIVAL TO A ABIMONAL STATUS BECAUSE OF AN EGO .
EVEN I CAN TRAIN RACE HORSES WITH A PROVEN PEDIGREE .
Was a tremendous meeting..not for me with 7 bleeding 2nds..khaadem helped to avert a total blank
But the racing was ultra competitive plus a few brilliant performances
