at golfing Focus we firmly believe regular amateurs do not take nearly enough advantage of the lessons that can be learned from the golf equipment choices of the best women golfers in the world and given every golfer in the planet plays a golf ball without fail we thought it was the best place to start to do a deep dive into the golf bags of the top LPGA players so in this video we deliver the results of our in-depth analysis of the golf balls chosen for the top 100 Pros in the LPGA Tour highlight a key difference with their male colleagues in the PGA Tour and also reveal the surprising choice of one LPGA star following her split from Bridgestone welcome back to the golfing Focus Channel everybody and when it comes to golf ball choices tiess Prov v1x is the most used golf ball on the LPGA tour with 39 of the top 100 Pros using it including 2023 Player of the Year Lily of you Georgia Hall and Danielle Kang titless provie 1 is the next most played ball chosen by 31 a group which includes Jin Yong Co Leona Maguire and Allison Lee tiller Ms tp5x the choice of world number one Nelly Corda and trixon Zed star balls are the best of the rest with four Pros each using them and overall the top 100 use 11 different golf balls produced by six manufacturers when golfing focus last took an in-depth look at the most used golf ball in the LPG tour 3 years back we found that 41 of the top 50 LPG tour players used either a ESS prov1 or provie 1X this year golfing focuses analysis of the top 100 again highlighted a clear majority 69% of the top 100 LPGA Pros therefore continue to use titless golf balls in preference to the other brands and interestingly this percentage is almost identical to the one we found when we anal Iz the golf balls used by the best Pros on the PGA tour but while the size of the majority of the best LPGA Tour Pros playing titless golf balls is less than that which we found among the top senior Pros on the champions tour what was notable was the preference in the lpj tour in line with their senior male colleagues for choosing a prov1x over the prov1 the individual reasons Pros choose their golf balls is wide and varied and is also of course influenced by sponsorship deals but the dominance of the firmer and slightly longer playing provie 1X on the LPGA Tour compared to the PGA Tour is a definite point of Distinction what is also crystal clear though from our in-depth analysis is that titless place is the number one ball amongst the best LPGA players remains without question despite the dominance of tiess golf balls among the choices of the best LPGA Pros not everyone in the women’s tour of course uses a prov1x or prov1 some big name up for golf balls produced by the other big manufacturers Callaway is the next most common golf brand after tiess among the top 100 LPG tour players with 11% using either the Chrome tour Chrome TX Chrome soft or Chrome soft X balls 6% by comparison op for both Srixon and Taylor Made balls respectively including Nelly Corda and ca’s changed from the Taylor Made tp5 to the tp5x has clearly paid dividends the world number one’s 2020 four major win at the Chevron Championship further cemented her place at the top of the women’s game as she joined anaka serom and Nancy Lopez as the only players to win five consecutive LPGA events as rickon golf ball was also notably the ball brand of choice of LPGA Superstar Lexi Thompson until December 2023 but in perhaps the most surprising equipment change for this season Thompson has now partnered with maxxfly and chosen to be the only one of the top 100 to put their T golf ball into play endorsement contracts are obviously a significant factor when it comes to what equipment the LPGA Pros choose but according to Thompson the maxfly tour has given her that big extra confidence around the greens and a few extra yards off the tea it will be interesting to see how her results pan out throughout the season with this new ball but for now she Remains the only one of the top 100 Pros choosing a maxfly golf ball when it comes to LPG tour Pros one question would of gets asked as whether they use women’s equipment or as far as this particular topic is concerned women’s golf balls women’s are ladies golf balls and inverted commas are a category of golf balls that tend to have a lower compression in other words they are softer than other balls which are harder and therefore have a higher compression rating we go into the detail of ladies golf balls in another one of our videos when we look at the question of whether women’s golf balls go further than men’s but the key point to take away here is that ladies or women’s golf balls are simply marketing terms made up by the golf ball manufacturers as a general rule of thumb golf balls with higher compression in other words hardness will suit golfers with higher swing speeds while lower compression I.E softer golf balls will be better for slower swing speed golfers and because amateur women golfers typically record swing speeds of between 60 and 80 M hour which is slow in the overall scheme of things what you often find is that golf balls are labeled as women’s golf balls because the manufacturer has designed them to suit players with lower swing speeds but given the average driver swing speed in the LPG tour is around 96 mph and long hitters such as Maria fasy have recorded swing speeds of8 mph which is not far off the average PGA driver swing speed of 115 M hour we can see straight away that a golf ball at the soft end of the scale will not suit LPGA players LPGA Pros are among the top 0.1% of all golfers in the world and with their swing speed they would lose a lot of distance amongst other things if they played softer golf balls designed for slower swings speed golfers and that is why the most used golf ball in the LPG tour titless proy 1X has a high compression rating of around 96 and no LPGA Pro in the top 100 we analyzed chose a golf ball with a compression of less than 86 there is a lot of physics going on when it comes to golf balls but the key part of software golf ball design is that by compressing more under the low pressure of slower swing speeds ball speed Loft carry and therefore distance will be increased the rest is just marketing when it comes to women’s golf balls and indeed it is interesting to note that Callaway’s Reva golf ball is effectively a ladies version of Callaway’s super soft Max ball it is the same ball just with different packaging color choices and Alignment patterns so that’s it once 1. Surprised Bridgestone doesn't get more love considering they've partnered with Tiger for so long. The Bridgestone Tour B X really is the best ball all-around IMO

  2. I’ve switched from Pro V’s to Wilson Staff Model, and I’ll never go back. They’re longer off the tee, with better spin around the greens. Phenomenal, yet very overlooked golf ball, in my opinion.
