[Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] oh that was solid Contact welcome to event 9 of season 4 and the itm New Zealand SED Grand [Applause] Prix [Music] W flying car Mach the world’s best yes Power by Power by Passion alling oning with imp it everything it everything we [Music] are this is event N9 of the season and sale GP has once again arrived in Christ Church for the itm New Zealand sale Grand Prix the Waters of the Southern Hemisphere have a long history of testing the world’s best Sailors in challenging conditions but things are looking good for racing today the league is fast approaching the home stretch of the season and following today’s racing in Scenic Littleton Harbor only four events remain with massive crowds and excellent conditions anticipated for today the the pressure will be on the 10 International teams that are in the hunt for the event Title Here In Christ Church the kiwis will most certainly be looking to defend home Waters and keep Pace with the winners of last event Australia looking forward to some great action with me are Emily Nagel and Stevie Morrison I’m Todd [Music] Harris during practice on Friday there was a big incident between Spain and emeres gbr it was fairly clear that the Brits were in the wrong thankfully no one was injured but the umpires penalized the Brits who now start this event on min eight points and there was more Fallout as gbr also suffered a four-point penalty on their season standings so after eight events it is the Australians that lead the way on 66 points New Zealand hold on to Second eight points back Rockwell Denmark reside in third place the next three teams Spain France and United States are all separated by three points with Emirates gbr now dropped to Seventh Place Canada the winners of this event last year sit firmly in eighth [Music] place unfortunately with the absence of racing on day one due to the presence of mammals on the course the local crowd still enjoying what the event had to offer and now all eyes will be on day two with each race that much more important no practice or racing yesterday means the teams are fully prepared to go full on from the start today we are now working on a slightly revised schedule we will have three full Fleet races and then we will go to the event final where only the top three teams on points will compete s GP Awards 10 points for the win all the way down to one point for last place before we go racing Stevie Morrison has a preview of today’s [Music] course the teams need to be behind the line as the clock counts down to zero it’s then a speed race to mark one after the first Mark the course opens up tactically at the gates the boats can turn left or right there’s no Genesis Island this time there is an obstacle with those Channel mark is forming a boundary that the teams must avoid the f50s are only fast when they sail at angle to the wind so tactically the course opens up they can choose their own path trying to find the fastest way around it’s a steadier Breeze today so it’s going to be a boat speed race it’s about accuracy of setups driving the boat hard to finish first in front of the fans well this is maybe the largest ticketed event in sale GP history as the fans continue to make their way to the prime viewing positions here in Littleton Harbor and we are just about set to go racing under 3 minutes away we now check in with a fourth member of our broadcast team she’s an Olympic silver medalist as we take a look at all 10 boats out on the water as they are ready to go we check in now with Lisa Daron well all 10 f50s have been out and training the wind is looking fantastic we have East nor East Breeze blowing around 20 kmph gusting over 30 so f fantastic for racing we’ve got 24 M allpurpose wings but they’ve kept the light air boards in so plenty of surface area for those flight controllers to manage in in practice it has been quite interesting some of the newer teams are struggling with all that extra lift but it should be a RI a day out here absolutely fantastic I know all the sailors are Keen to to get racing they’ve had awesome amount of training and it’s going to be an amazing day of racing here in New Zealand coming up on 2 minutes to go before the start of the first of three Fleet races scheduled and then we will have the event final race management firmly in control and they are monitoring all the conditions across the board so Emily with that configuration that we talked about with this weather what does this look like out on the water for the 10 teams yeah so as Lisa mentioned this is kind of top end of the range of the liir boards and because they have such a big surface area there should be no issues for the teams about getting up on the foils but it will be an issue kind of keeping that control um will also be a Drager which mean to be slower so teams will need to take that into account for the pre-art and that first leg under 90 seconds to go before the start of race number one again we are scheduled for three Fleet races condensed scheduled today and then only the top teams will race in that event final Stevie 15 now to go and I got to think the teams everyone’s feel a little sporty wanting to get after this first race wow I just so excited to be back up me you hear Lisa down there I mean she is absolutely froing with excitement about getting Racing 1 minute 5 the box is a little bigger for the start today teams are already on that run in here one minute to go now before the start of race number one here in New Zealand it’s just worth drawing your eye to the start line the red line left hand side of screen and that blue triangle coming off the start that’s the theoretical perfect place to start should give you the best compromise of distance versus speed to mark one all the crews know that though so really the priorities hitting that line when the clock goes zero at full place and the maneuvering now is crucial Germany have chosen to cut back early their starting was here we go it’s heightened on board it’s tight in the middle oh there could be a collision in the middle of the line there oh my word Rockwell Denmark and Canada Rockwood Denmark had to keep clear oh I don’t know what happened there big moment anyway back to the boats Australia bottom of line well positioned New Zealand top of line the two big guns firing here with 15 seconds to go New Zealand are going to be fast and loose at the top of line Australia how’s going to their timing going to be with Char Scott coming through 6 seconds to go New Zealand winded up at the top of the line France winded up the bottom of the line watch Rich turn white we go New Zealand absolutely flat out at the top of the line they’re going to struggle to control the boat with those big foils from here France on the inside should lead at mark one but it’s going to be a Sprint cont delier and France very fast off the line as they approach Mark number one and we are off and racing here in New Zealand Switzerland have managed to find a way through there Nathan alridge is First racing on the tiller of the uh Swiss boat great job Australia in the pack New Zealand on the outside of the pivot there they’re going to tactically struggle and dapier well he’s one of the pre- race favorites in big Breeze and he’s led the fleet away New Zealand need to get into that boundary for protection all the boats start to turn but they got to keep clear of Australia there on board Canada big big contact what those was Unthinkable there they weren’t in the boundary I don’t know that Canada can turn in front that’s a massive acent there oh my major major damage to the Australian boat that’s a day Ender potentially there I don’t know what they’ve caught have they caught something in the water France lead away to the bottom Mark they’re going to turn left trying to keep things simple Great Britain turned back on the right of way here France Switzerland New Zealand up to fourth so we’ve got confirmation of that the Australian team hit that Mark that’s what we saw turned upside down underneath the boat so the safety crew on the scene they’ll attend to Australia remember they are the overall leaders on the season with an eight-point lead over New Zealand but right now in race number one it is France Switzerland emeres gbr and New Zealand your top four it’s a big moment there because really Canada had to keep clear of Australia and Canada have turned at the Mark they’re slow oh it’s a big big incident we’re going to have to get the umpire’s take on that cuz that seemed a busy busy moment but the most important fact right now is France out in front and they’re going to try and sail this course as simple as possible coming back on board right hand side of our screen look at this tight moment in there oh huge moment in the pre-art that’s the United States and Canada Canada needed to keep clear of the United States there if there was contact it could be a absolute smus Board of penalty points here we go Australia they were forced to turn away here they set up for the turn you can see a sudden turn needed to be made to keep clear of Canada but he justs that Mark wow massive contact huge huge contact we’re going to see if we can get the r back racing we’ll hear more from them soon but I think they just you see here Canada turn away from New Zealand but they turn straight into Australia and Australia have the right of way that’s unbelievable moment unbelievable for the Aussies a lot of drama to unpack on the first two legs of the first race here on Super Sunday so back to live racing action we are on L three of seven and is still contanda here in the French out in front Stevie am all the people talking about this race and the conditions the experts really seem to favor France in these very tricky conditions with this heavy wind we’ve seen it before their Maneuvers especially in this Breeze are second um we see them entering all their Maneuvers with one of the highest entry speeds and also a very high rate of turn which means they’re losing that minimum amount of distance every time they change direction and more importantly Emily they are only seven points out of that third and final spot on the podium for the overall Denmark currently holds it down with 52 points the French sitting on 45 points three back of Spain who sit in fourth yeah it’s definitely a very tight leader board at the moment especially now that we’ve had more incidents today there are going to be more penalty points on that board which definitely going to mix things up that could be a blessing in disguise as well for the great GID who obviously already have minus eight points but if you’ve got more teams getting penalty points it kind of helps them a little bit there Game Changer though Stevie for the Australians and I don’t know how they just obviously didn’t see that or was that just in their well yeah I think just to clarify what happened there that the Canadians in New Zealand had got into the protection from the boundary Zone they were entitled to turn despite turning onto what would traditionally be not the right of way they turned Australia had to give them room on the boundary so it is Australia’s problem that it happened and yeah they’re going to have a big job getting back in the race but yeah no foul Canada no foul New Zealand in that situation just to clear it up nice the chatter continues the voice is relatively calm despite the chaos down on the water it is still France out in front Nathan out in the Swiss Stevie sitting in second place and Emer gbr they are in third it was really interesting just there where we saw them drop the board and we saw the bow of Emir gbr just dip down and kiss the water and hit heard on board them just go whoa and it’s just the adjustment to using these liir boards and finding correct setting that they need to be dropping them M because if they’re slightly too negative on rake when they drop that foil sucks the hole down and clearly there just a little more than expected this would be a huge reward Stevie if somehow France can get themselves into the event final they have come so close the last few events missing out just by a point or two and here they are taking firm control of this event on race number one remember we’ve got three Fleet races and then only the top three teams will go into the event final later today yeah I mean the French have done a nice job in these windy conditions and they like an open course the way they like to sail the boat sail it pretty fast and free often sailing a bit more distance but they just are able to really let it rip and these are perfect conditions for the French out there at the moment they’re trying to minimize those Maneuvers now and they’re also tending to stay offshore a little bit they’re slightly clearer wind away from the shore and the French are making the most of sailing and more wind the French nearly pitcher perfect from the get-go and they are pulling away from the rest of the fleet we go down the water Lisa what can you see and and did you have a good view of what happened with Australia can yeah I was actually sitting right on the boundary and saw it all happen I mean these marks are dark blue they’re hard to see and it gets super congested after mark one everyone’s trying to execute that first jve with boundary protection or not so you know I’m surprised there aren’t more incidents on that turn normally and that was a massive impact they’re just dropping their jib now and backing off that Mark but yeah real impact on that team and they’re going to be gutted cuz these are really their conditions and to watch everyone else be a to sail around like this uh it’ be really tough for them but Brans are just showing us how it’s done out here in New Zealand they’re pushing every moment but this the course with Branson coming head to-head now and this really changes the dynamic Stevie Emily because Australia is the overall leader after eight points but Stevie you said this could be an event changer for them they could be done for the day we saw Emir gbr get the eight points dock for the Collision on practice day so it takes them out of it so really we’re looking at eight teams battling for three spots at the end of the day yeah I mean it’s uh you know the Australians are possibly the only boat in the fleet that can afford mistake like this they’ve got that that much of a season lead at the moment but right out there on the course at the moment we can see New Zealand are managing to really find the fastest route around this course they’re closing down on the French they were way back in the pack they’re tending to sail on their own they’re trying to keep their own space stay out of phase with the other boats would be a priority and when they next turn the boat here line show we’re nearly level when they come back together with the French they’ll have the right of way good chance for the kiwis to take the lead right now yeah and I can tell you at the moment the kiwis have been averaging 57 km an hour of speed around this course the French second fastest at 56 and check this out if you look at the overall season standings if New Zealand would go on to win this event get the 10 points that would take them to 68 points the Australians would get one point for it being here that would put them at 67 that’s an early F mate that’s an early I’m just saying yeah it was a lead change there big gains by the New Zealand crew they’re very much in Phase With the Wind shifts here they’re minimizing distance on this up win leg well and yeah generally got better boat speed they’re well set for gate five they’re probably going to need to do one more maneuver they’ll turn right France have the ride of way as we come into gate five but the kiwis look like they’re far enough ahead at the moment very impressive performance here from the kiwis who also had the least amount of training time at the start of the day today as they got a little bit of foil damage when they were on their way out to the race course all sorted before the race started but here we go tight moment here France have got it wound up look at the speed 2 km an hour New Zealand have to keep clear they choose to dip behind it’s going to be neck and neck at this final turn down wind Mark here right of way at the moment with France in the lead New Zealand second there’s nothing in that great speeds there as New Zealand touches 80 km an hour and they split the course so now it is all on who will take the win in race number one gate five is complete and the French now going back and forth with the lead with the kiwis well come back together New Zealand are going to have the right of way in terms of they’ll be on starboard attack with wind coming over the right hand side of the boat but France are going to be on the inside for this final turning Mark is a big moment here kiwi’s in France deer’s not going away he’s not handing it to the locals leg six of seven on race number one and kandel up here on the left side of your screen here comes Peter Burling and the kiwis and this will be a tight Crossing As Stevie pointed out the Kiwi is having the right away yeah that was a sensible as a wise head on young shoulders D La Pierre there I think he thought about pushing it inside the kiwis but a second in this first race is a solid start don’t get yourself into an incident where you risk losing more places kiwi’s nailed it was no mistake on board that New Zealand boat down there if they don’t make a mistake you just got to continue to make the next right decision and D Pierre that was a wise move look at the fans they’re going to be loving that the black foils bring it home now it’s final 100 200 M to go as they will cross the line the first race of the itm New Zealand sale Grand Prix in Christ Church goes the way of the home team the black foils get the win in race one France with a very impressive race they check in in second place so that’s 10 points and nine points going to the kiwis and the French Spain will finish in third that’s huge good work by Spain Great Britain good result for Jo Scott I tell you what that was an ominous performance by the black foils cuz that was not a great start they hit the line well but they were a bit out of position being at the top of the line on the outside of the wheel coming downwind and they just sailed the whole way back through the fleet it was really dominant display by the black foils there Phil Robertson and the Canadians involved in a lot of drama there on that first race they come through in fifth place and it looks like Germany will hold on to sixth man so Germany claims six and it looks like Nathan outage who was sitting in second place for a time being he will come in seven oh we got some confusion here at the Finish think the I think the Germans and the Swiss have gone the wrong way through the Finish there that motorboat to the top of the screens the Finish Line Switzerland and Germany oh bit of an error here big error in fact big error they’ve sailed the wrong Finish Line USA they got it right through the Gap there chaos of course You’ got to remember back to the beginning the Australians took out the Finish Mark so they’ve changed it up put the rib in as the top end of the finish and I think Germany and Switzerland have made a mistake there we will sort out what we do know is the first five teams are through clean that’s New Zealand France Spain Great Britain and Canada and there is the situation that is the league leading three-time reigning and defending Champion Australians winners of the last event Stevie that is not good no that’s um that’s really not good I mean everyone’s safe on board we’re going to get a replay on board the Australian boat here of course they had to turn suddenly you can see they’re not really ready they’re not expecting to have to turn that boundary came up real quick and and I almost to me looks like he could see the mark but he just had to avoid a collision with the other boat and uh yeah it was obviously look at this ankle look at that oh my days but yeah he’s thinking I’ve got right of way here but there’s a boundary to the right hand side of our screen that New Zealand and Canada get are allowed to turn even though they’re turning onto what would traditionally not be the right way so they avoid that Collision but oh my word big impact and that’s the best of the best there well I don’t know if there is much more of a key moment than that but plenty to talk about and there was The View on board let’s go back to the start guys this was impressive and here we have just how France nailed that start line they were set out up at the back all of the chaos going on in front of them there was not a lot of space at the bottom of that line but they timed it perfectly they hit the line at 67 km an hour k at the top of the line just over 70 the two of them stretching away from the rest of the fleet well here we go we see Canada Denmark massive Collision there Canada have the right of way Denmark have to keep clear but Canada themselves had a big input with it packed with the USA really tight in that pre-art probably the tightest bit of pre-art we’ve ever seen there will be penalty points awarded for those collisions I’m confident of that but yeah France as Emily said kept himself out of trouble how often is that the case sale clean sail smooth sail fast and contan D Pierre did a brilliant job of that but we see in the top of the screen there New Zealand look they’re right back in the pack they didn’t get the best of starts not the worst of starts but not the best and that’s that huge impact they just avoided it on board New Zealand and suddenly the fleet owe it up for them and they were able to sail on through we come back on board Australia doesn’t take a lot to talk about there does it what a massive moment in season if they don’t hit that marker do they hit Canada well if they carried on straight they hit hit Canada and we’ve got a far bigger incident yeah so I think you know it’s the lesser of two evils but for Australia seeing their biggest Rivals sailing through the fleet to take the wing while they’re hung on the Finish it’s going to hurt great result for the black foils as the kiwis Win race number one here at the itm New Zealand sale Grand Prix Christ Church giving the fans a great reason to celebrate on Super Sunday yeah black foils indeed France who led much of that race they finished in second we know that for sure a little bit of confusion at the Finish Line because that finish marker was taken out by the Australians after won lead so it’s New Zealand France Spain Great Britain and Canada that are in safely in the top five and we’ll have to sort out how they finished after that well there’s the Hometown Heroes there we’ll take a short breather here and let the fleet get sorted away as Canada will get themselves sorted out as well we’ll find out what kind of damage was done but this was an opportunity yesterday and the day before with all the teams here in New Zealand to step aside and get some activities off the water here in Christ Church all types of activities to keep you entertained once you come off the water in New Zealand and the question is do sailing skills translate to the land our course today is going to be from four right in front of us here with the orange one something there just U give it a little bit of loening down there cuz you that’s where you might end up on the electric uh the line is just with a chicken flag and the piece [Music] okay 3 2 one he guys thank you so much for that good competition so um overall what congratulations it was really good fun yeah definitely challenging it we had good win conditions as well for the for this activity and yeah it was really nice I think it’s great it’s you know it’s a great thing here in crush it’s great for other people to get involved in as well yeah SGP for this city is amazing it’s just so fantastic for everybody and to be part of it is just hugely special for us so those skills on the water do translate onto land as the crowds continue to get themselves the best position we’ve got two more Fleet races still to come and then it will be on to the event final here in Christ Church but a lot of drama on race number [Music] one on the latest episode of racing on the edge we delved into the career of one of s’s big stars that hasn’t recently had a permanent sale GP driver role this is n chance to make a statement I am worth hiring I remain one of the few that can topple the mighty Tom slingsby we know this boat can perform with Peter burlin but can it perform with Nathan adid and it’s like asking a driver who doesn’t have a seat in F1 to come and drive the Mercedes or now the Red Bull and have some fun and do some hot laps and uh and see how you go it’s been a very hard cut the use for me to to be honest to to be in a supporting role when you’re in the prime of your career it’s hard to do that and you hope that you’ll be able to find a drive again in the future it’s it’s not happening at the moment and maybe this weekend maybe good result here in Sydney might change things for next year I guess Nathan’s got a bit to prove uh considering what he did to nikolai’s team in the last event thanks you’re welcome I was waiting for someone to say that but it’s all good this is a much different scenario because he’s going in with a team he knows very very well oh what a decision by Nathan alridge I can only think he might have seen something that nobody else has and Stevie as predicted the final is going to be decided amongst the Australians the kiwis and the Danish oh what a St what a mistake by all of the crews the kiwis they had all the opportunity and they threw it away hold Waters Tom slingby works his magic Hocus Pocus Australia takes the win in Sydney yeah I I wish it could have had the uh the fairy tale ending but just just bear bear with me for one second I’ve got some other news to tell you too I got another offer while I was here this weekend I can’t can’t tell you till I get home [Music] though car machines driven by the world’s best yes Power by Nature Power by Nature we all GP all kinds of drama developing on day2 here at the itm New Zealand sale Grand Prix in Christ Church in Littleton Harbor Collision from Australia they look to be out of the next race and maybe the rest of the day Denmark also is done for the day because of damage to their boat and we are now 340 away from race number two well we’ll take a deep breath we’ll sort everything out get all the boats that are able sail into position while we do that have a closer look at our beautiful host City Christ Church New Zealand Christ Church isn’t just famous for its stunning Landscapes its vibrant art scene and attractions bring together a unique balance of Heritage in modern architecture it’s also a true Foodies Paradise indoor markets out Fresco brunch spots and rooftop bars the city is full of culinary Delights every corner is bustling with color indigenous culture is woven throughout Christ Church adding to its warm and welcoming feel for visitors that get to experience this wonderful [Music] City well what is normally a 10 box view of 10 International Teams getting ready to go race now becomes an eight as you see the Australians on the top left they are dead in the water just City there and Denmark now having problems and they have been withdrawn from racing as well so it’ll be the eight teams battling for three spots in the final Stevie that’s uh Emily that’s what a way to start race one this is going to have a huge impact on the season scoreboard let alone the event scoreboard so with Denmark in third overule if they don’t score points for this event or score very few points for this event that could knock them off of that third place position equally for Australia you know if New Zealand come first or second here they could be tied on the overall leader board so Australia and Rockwell Denmark currently sit first and third in the season standings after eight events and this was the start stev and there was so much chaos in there it looks like Canada getting right up close and personal with Denmark here is again yeah the wom would both must keep clear Denmark must get out the way can I think basically I’m surprised the way Denmark is setting their crew up here there’s no one down in that LD position looking as we come on board that’s the front the bow of the Danish boat there’ll be water going in through there that’s why they’ve got to get the boat in it will be taking on water but of course great safety measures here so the boat will be safe but they’ll be Keen to get out of the water as soon as possible but yeah mistake on there they they didn’t see them but I just think they could use the crew better in that Pro position positioning wise to actually be able to observe what’s around him it’s so chaotic in the priest is that similar to what we saw in practice racing between mgbr and Spain in my opinion we’ve seen it a few times I’m definitely agreement with youv a lot of the teams need to start thinking about having a person to L in close quarters so situations well the good news is everyone is safe it is just damaged to the boats and that can be repaired so Australia Rockwell dead Mark first and third in the overall after eight events they are done now it is eight teams battling for three spots and let’s remind you the Emirates gbr are already down eight points because of an incident taking place during practice when they collided with the Spanish so deep breath we’re set to go race number two Stevie down to the final 30 seconds a little more breathing room for the te a bit more breathing room I mean we didn’t have a lot of action yesterday I feel we’ve had three days worth in the last 12 minutes of racing but France and Spain Opportunity Knocks here this is a massive moment to try and get back in it denma are up and racing have they managed to affect a miracle repair well that would be incredible work by their sh crew if so it looks like they’re racing to be 13 seconds to go New Zealand well positioned France in the middle of the line a little bit more it’s all about acceleration now Phil Robertson the rocket at the bottom of the line on board Canada how’s your timing Robertson he winds it up on board Canada go perfect start Phil Robertson Nathan outridge perfect start on the Swiss boat but the Canadians are going to have the fastest angle to mark one on these big foils they will control things New Zealand out the back again Mark Number One race number two Phil Robertson and the Canadians they take control of this race with Nathan out and the Swiss on the outside there we goary we go talking about boundary there Phil Robertson that means he’s got to maneuver away as soon as he’s within 80 M of that boundary he’s gets protection for those boats on the inside to turn but for Canada that’s not a worry right now they are way out in front perfectly positioned great start by Robertson and in front of the fans that’s a pretty slick maneuver hear the voice of Camp James there the wing trimer talking to Phil about how he wants to sail the boat what mode do we want how fast do we try to sail boat he said we can come down turn the boat away from the wind if you need to it’s going to make it easier to make this next gate too I’ll get now two one here we go gate two you hear the voice of Phil Robertson and Canada with a slick maneuver through there switzland will come through second and at the last minute Spain decide to go to the other side of the course with France Emer gbr the USA they’ll come to the left hand side following the Canadians and the Swiss yeah that turn up at this bottom Mark is a big moment these foils they get a lot of lift on the foils all of a sudden as they spin the boat around and all the boats not quite able to make the easy turn tricky for Denmark in seventh but in last place at the moment the winners of race one what a moment we’re seeing on that left hand side of the screen it’s a lot lighter in sha and there’s a big shift we saw as gbr came Round The Mark with that right hand turn they ended up pointing directly at the fans on screen so that could have been a big loss for them there we see 2 2 km an hour of pressure on that sh side 30 upshore where the Canadians are how about the game for the Americans they have now moved up in the third place with Canada in first the Swiss in second Nathan out at the wheel now let’s go down to Lisa Darman and Lisa the biggest surprise I think for all of us is seing Denmark Nikolai sad and their team pulling the full Lazarus rising from the dead they get in the start box at the very end what can you tell us about the Danes and how they’re able to be out there I to than that I what I can tell you is they’re missing the front of their boat half of their B got chopped off in that in that situation the one way that I can think H is not in the water so it’s not taking ow sorry apologies losing Lisa there we’ll get back to her in a second Stevie I think what she’s talking about is if they’re foiling 99% of the time they don’t have to worry about having that front end yeah no pressure Rasmus cner the flight controller on board that for the Dan so they really need these points if they can get them right now but it’s tight we’re early on in the day here but of course we’re already thinking about a race to the final the points are already crucial New Zealand look they’re off the back of the group and here’s the points and here on the bottom left is that race for the final Canada currently leading the charge with 16 points as the currently stand switzland just on the edge of qualifying at the moment how big would that be for Nathan OU to come on board at his first event and get them into the final they currently sit dead last in the overall standings so we’ll see if the when whisper can work his magic and get them some much needed points right now we’re on leg three of seven race number two and it’s emeres gbr Canada Switzerland France and Spain your top five yeah it’s a real boat speed course out there today Nathan likes a Shifty course he’s got to keep clear of France here bottom right hand corner of our screen the Swiss are going to potentially lose out to the French as they come into the top but it’s Great Britain Jes Scott first taste of leading in s GP must keep clear of Canada early maneuver spins away and most of these boats look like they’re going to turn left will the Swiss split away from the fleet yes they do they look for space on board the Swiss boat but dapier wow that French boat’s fast today and the Swiss are going to have company as oh big away wow Spain comes into view right behind them oh they got slow on board Switzerland they were slow into the maneuver then they had to try and turn the boat away costly error there complex maneuver but they did not execute it well they got slow not enough lift on the foils and they nearly pitched over the front big big error on board that Swiss boat and they’re now back in the pack as we see Phil Robertson he’s going well but dieo B on board Spain bottom right hand corner of our screen they’re back in the race turns on to the right of Wayman tack there and he’s going to be coming back at the fleet with rights gbr currently the fastest boat on the course 55.9 km an hour average this R but Canada and France still pushing hard behind remember it’s all about accumulating the most points over three races 10 points to the winner one point for last Canada now on the league we saw moments ago EMily doing her projections of who would make the top three if it stood right now but still one more race still to go Canada has the lead em gbr in second place with the French in third oh we just saw a last minute decision by the British to dip behind the Canadians we’ve course got an obstruction those Channel markers in the course the boats are not allowed through between the red and the green on the screen that we just saw there so the teams have all got to avoid that Jo Scott last minute decision he just got out the way but the Canadians look like they smoothed things down a bit here they turn right Great Britain right France right and Spain are going to be the first to split away last minute decision but they’re going to open the door for Spain Spain have the right of way no problem top right of screen New Zealand have the right of way Switzerland have got a miss them wow tight tight moment there oh no love loss and the Swiss are high on the foils here they’re going to be loose on the mark rounding oh it’s getting messy on board that Swiss boat look at it go big Ease on the wing needed this getting fast and loose out on the race course pushing the envelope Nathan out and the Swiss there and they bring both holes now down safely into the water and that was certainly a moment the Danes now looking to pick up possibly another position position then that just means points in the overall with the damage boat meanwhile out in front it is Canada on top Great Britain and then Spain and France and this is how that race the final looks at the moment we have a fullway tie all on 16 points Canada Spain and France to make it through as it is uh the tie rate comes down to the last race so at the moment kiwis are the bottom of that pack in this race so that’s because the Kiwi kiwi sit in fifth place but Emily that’s a lot better than they were what 10 minutes ago when they were in eighth and nth exactly and look at this again look you see how most of the boats are sailing towards up the screen and New Zealand are sailing left to right on our screen and they’ve just done a very good job we call that they’re getting out of phase if you can be sailing on their own they’ll be sailing at their own optimal speed they’re making the progress towards that next Mark as efficiently as they can and that’s how they’re able to gain through it’s clever tactical Sailing by Burling and Li mcki at the back of that New Zealand boat they’re in it but they need to overtake another place if they’re going to make themselves take the lead in this rata but of course there should be a third race out here today kiwi got to be licking their chops with an opportunity to really close the gap on the Australians who lead the overall remember the Australians three time reigning and defending Champions and the black foils are hunting down more and more points and right now they’ve got France and Spain in their sights here L five of seven they’ll go through gate number five they’ll come back halfway up and then the finish line let from France oh there we go we see Spain just turned directly in front of Spain but big moment France have dropped back behind New Zealand winds rotated right towards the right hand side of our screen and we can see the boats on the right of the screen are sailing nearly straight up the ladder line extra distance there missed the wind shift the French and they’ve lost a place that could be huge in the race to the final but of course we should see another race to go and New Zealand are going to have to do another maneuver to get round the gate and BR have the rights over New Zealand here as they enter this top mark But New Zealand look like they’re going to be clear ahead tight cross coming has Burling judged it right DLI Pierre has the right of way I think he’s maybe round it’s really really he’s who perfect judgment by the kiwis and Canon has all but checked out I think I just became the favorite kiwi oh Phil Robertson he is an optimist that man isn’t he I can’t thinking I’ve seen an awful lot of black foils signs in the crowd not too many Phil Roberts and masks but he’s going well at the moment defending Champion here of course and this summary here is from that previous downwind Lake and we can see how the Kau up and moved themselves into third place so previously downwind they averaged 68.1 km of average uh average speed and also sail the shortest distance so the Canadians looking pretty safe but not NE necessarily the fastest boat on the course so Canada at Mark number six they’ll have the straight shot to the Finish Line hopefully they’ve sorted that marking out so everyone know Spain comes in on a funky line there Stevie they’re going to have to just peel off yeah they’ll make it and they’ll take a turn so it’ll be a battle for second place between Spain and EM gbr Spain is slow Great Britain are going to have a lot more speed against the Spanish look at that nearly 20 km and hour faster they should be a to defend from here as they build speed but Canada are going to get it done race number two at the itm New Zealand sale Grand Prix goes the way of the Canadians with a kiwi at the wheel tight behind but Spain are going to get it in second the black foils are coming fast behind the Brits but that’s going to be second place for Spain third for Great Britain and the Hometown Heroes well it’s Fourth but they came from last all the way to Fourth and that is huge news for the Spanish team as that will put them in first overall at the moment for today France who looked like they were going to be a threat again here in race number two they’re going to have to settle for a fifth place remember it’s cumulative scoring so France will pick up those points for fifth they’ve got a second and a fifth think of it like golf in Reverse you want to get more more points 10 to the winner one for last place of course Australia unable to sail in this race Denmark somehow is out there and Denmark may be getting eight points because right now the D sit in E the USA in ninth yeah I mean crucial points they’re going to still struggle to make the final at this event but season points it’s crucial United States they’re off the foils there’s been a few handling errors on board that us boat struggling these breezier conditions we see the germ sixth place that’s a good result big gust of wind hitting the Swiss and the Swiss they were in that race just a little bit Scrappy but probably no surprise for a new crew on that one Nathan outridge well he’ll be happy enough Ro Den said I guess he’s just happy to still be a float I that that’s right I was on the board up but I think it was in the air Miracle of Miracles the Great Dan gets his boat into the mix and they pick up another point so that is huge they finished in eighth place the Americans As Stevie said had some uh unforced airs there and they will finish in ninth place no 10th Place finisher because that would belong to the Australians who are done for the day the I can get from here right now where the are well lot to unpack in Fleet number two and Emily it all came down once again to the start and this start was a little less congested from before cuz there’s just less boats on the course but the Danish being a late entry there was plenty of space on the line Canadians lined themselves up perfectly for that Optimum position on the line and hit the line with the most speed out of everyone well yeah here we go you see the Swiss there’s a complex mover here they tack the boat through the wind then try and turn the fed away from the wind they got a bit slow and they just struggled to judge the amount of lift needed in those big foils at the Mark there costly little eras are so costly at this level and here’s little era by the French they were well set up for a right turn but they probably sailed an extra 70 80 M there open the door for the black foils to get back in the race black foils where they crossed in front of the Swiss another little error by the swis they’re getting it they’re in the race but some eras are pretty crucial and the kiwis they’re not getting off the start line yet but once they get into the race they’re not making too many mistakes they couldn’t catch Canada but it was a good one so two races complete and the leaderboard looks like this it is Spain Diego botin has his team in first place they’re even on points with the kiwis but they won the last race with a higher placing so they get the tiebreaker and then it would be Canada in a top three position with France again Stevie and Emily one point out of making the final in fourth right now but again we have one more race to go so it’s New Zealand gets a win in race number one Canada gets the race to win but it’s Spain that has been the most consistent with a third and a second and that sets us up for an all important third and final race Stevie give me a quick prediction I predict it’s going to be pretty tense and uh it’s not going to be all over until it’s over I mean I just think the start if the kiwi can get off the start line they look fairly unplayable out there today they’re the fastest boat on the race course Canada Phil Robertson well he loves it he wants to be the favorite kiwi and uh and he knows how to do it he did it last year and even so I’m not ready to write off the French team or the Spanish Spanish has been sailing really well today and the French are so strong in these conditions so we’ll see how it all plays out in the third and final Fleet race here at the itm New Zealand sale Grand Prix Christ church and then the top three teams will race in the event final here in Littleton Harbor massive crowds on hand and we can now take you kind of behind the curtain we’re going to take you into HQ row and this is where all the coaches for all the teams are sitting they all have the same data they can communicate with the teams out on the water and there it is the Brain Trust for the sailors of sale GP and that gives us a good opportunity to talk to one of those coaches none other than Chris Nicholson the dead Mark coach first of all Chris how is your squad able to get up and saing and what do you know about the extent of the damage yeah you can see like we were late in for that second start um we’ had a couple of different reports that we weren’t allowed to sell and then we were allowed to sell um you know we’re happy structurally with everything that was going on with the boat um and in then yeah there was no no dramas to go to go racing but uh caused us to be late for the start so today we’ve had um you know after what was a really good warmup and a solid prep work we’ve um we’ve had very tough first two races we just need to now uh regroup and have finish this with a good result now so you’re thinking it’s really just a dam damage limitation job for this reg now Chris yeah essentially you know like it’s it’s too too too short amount of races to for anything else to happen now but um you know we’re certainly at the point like just trying to keep points points to a minimum here uh Chris just on another note we’ve seen the New Zealand boat seem to sail through the fleet well what how are they managing that do you think I think they’re probably sailing how we warmed up and um keep keeping clear of trouble and and executing very well that’s that’s where we need to be Chris Nicholson the head coach of Denmark Chris we appreciate your time we’re glad to know that your crew is all safe and we will see them in race number three albeit with a bit of a damaged boat Chris Nicholson Denmark’s coach appreciate the time so there’s a live look out on the course we are coming up on 3:30 to go before the start of the third and final Fleet race and then it will be all on as Emily will crunch the numbers and we will see who the top three teams are but Emily you know they’ve all done their math I they got to think okay it’s got to be the start or nothing yeah I mean all the teams are going to be going out to get the best start possible because we’ve seen it makes such a difference if you can get to mark one in first like the Canadians did in that last race with 3 minutes to go we go down on the water Lisa Daron are is with the Canadians Phil congratulations on that race but you’re both looking a bit worse for where yeah she’s taking a beating oh my gosh that race one was uh demolition derby not really s GP that we know but yeah it’s obviously never intention is to crash but I think by Mark by the bottom gate we’ had about three crashes and sort of been stuck and piggy in the middle of and all of them so yeah not ideal but uh nice to get a win on the board there good bounce back do your team does your team thrive in these conditions uh it’s pretty nice we like up range of the lobs um yeah suits us really well and we seem to have the boat pretty dialed in uh obviously the importance is the start and we we got a nice on way there quick turnaround obviously got another race and then the final just keep pushing yeah got to keep pushing pretty hard hopefully more of the same and uh hopefully we make the final as well we’ll leave you to it Phil thanks for that nice thank you well there you go Phil Robertson feeling pretty good on things here we’re getting ready for this third start and of course it’s going to be a fairly massive moment just 1 minute 54 until the start out there we’ve had news come down to us that that collision with the Danish cuz they caused it they’re going to get themselves an eight-point penalty taking off the event here so that’s more bad news for Nikolai sead really hurting this event and I imagine that will mean season points so eight points for the violation of rule 14 and that is one of the rules where we do not like these high foiling very expensive carbon fiber F50 catam to come together and we had multiple collisions in race number one so huge race here race number three we’re under a minute 20 to go Emily everyone is going to keep their eye on that preferred line but we’ve seen multiple strategies play out here in Littleton Harbor what do you think is going to be the option or the strategy on this third race well I think the key is having space to accelerate towards the line but also getting as close to that Optimum uh Point as possible we saw just how well the Canadians did last time perfectly on that blue triangle under a minute to go now Spain will be the last team to enter the start box no penalty there and everyone makes their way to the Back Stevie the same question I got to Emily we’ve seen multiple strategy we’ve seen people hug this bottom line we’ve seen people come from the very top and just scream it towards the line I think yeah I think what was definitely a feature is if you’re down towards the bottom that been on overall the winning strategy with these big foils you can’t get the top speeds that you perhaps could do if you had the high speed board so they got to sell extra distance if they’re nearer the top of our screen they would have a faster angle but they’re going to struggle to do that Germany aggressive move down the line no SC that New Zealand are further down the line dapier winding it up out the back Canada they wind it up now 13 seconds to go it’s all about timing New Zealand got to watch out for Canada but Phil Robertson he’s just shooting straight at the line Germany well positioned I think de Pierre and the Spanish France and Spain at the bottom of the line watch for the line to the white perfect start there wow incredible timing by Diego bourtin with the pressure on Spain and France are going to be one and two at mark one incredible work side by side as they come to Mark number one Spain on the inside France on the outside both of them looking for a big performance here in the third and final Fleet race one out the back again was New Zealand Todd but they’ve managed sneak themselves down on the inside they’re directly in line behind Canada at the moment who are directly in line behind Spain New Zealand they’re back in the pack but France Canada Spain New Zealand this is the race for the final and it’s absolutely on a knife edge right now perfect sailing conditions here in Littleton Harbor and we’ve waited a full day to get this kind of action and it is all on Spain France Canada USA who just gets a penalty and then the Swiss your top five who there a bit loose on that maneuver on board the USA the boat’s throwing itself around in the background they’re out of control on board there struggling to get it down USA had to give room on the boundary so they got a penalty there they’re sneaking up around but out front France they choose to head back towards the fans and it’s going to be really tight New Zealand with the right of way on the right hand side of us screen Switzerland are threading the needle oh my word Nathan alridge he’s got to keep clearing New Zealand Oh my days that was close thinking is going to be in trouble there New Zealand are out the back France Canada Spain and this race to the final is really heating up now as it currently stands we would see Spain France and Canada this is thep penalty Switzerland relative New Zealand uh P Port T Bo not keeping clear Stevie you saw that one coming so Nathan ad have to give away and the kiwis will pick up another position the Americans stuck in the middle of the course and they look not to be moving both holes in the water well yeah USA they’re just struggling to control the at the moment they’re struggling with their Maneuvers out there new team of course tricky day on these big foils but yeah Switzerland penalty is exol they’ve dropped back behind New Zealand and we can see just how close the Ks are to making that final they need to sail through the fleet and gain another position if they want a chance that final that has never been a problem for Peter Burley and the kiwis and the fans that have turned out almost 20,000 of them would be sorely disappointed if the kiwis do not make the final but right now Canada sit in second place on points all even at 25 but they are the defender of last year’s event and their driver Phil Robertson he weat by birth W this is a big France have got a big lead now it’s France is to lose in terms of a place in the final Spain and Canada were their neck and neck the black foils are found some space we’ve seen a day when they’ve got space they’re able to really work their way through the fleet about 100 meters behind the Spanish at the moment I think they need to overtake the Spanish to hope to make the final the main protagonists are 1 2 three and four in this race but once again kiwis have managed to get themselves in space managed to get themselves out of phas can they manage to get themselves into the final all eyes on those top four boats Emily and the points are still holding steady but it does look like kiwis are closing that Gap the question is will they have enough time to overtake one of those top three votes big moment coming up here Todd Canada are going to have to look to turn but Spain will have the right of way if Spain overtake Canada then that’s a problem for Canada Phil Robertson has got to pull a rabbit from the Hat here he’s trying to use the boundary for protection it’s tight oh he’s managed to get away forcing the Spanish away using the boundary of protection there great work by two-time World match race champion Phil Robertson and it’s so tight as we get to the top of the course three legs to go though plenty of time for the kiwis to get back in it but they’ve got to make it happen soon and they’re getting chased down by the Emirates Great Britain so France is safely around Emer gbr gives way and it’s going get awfully crowded on the right side on the inside you’ve got Spain on the outside you’ve got Canada that kiwis decide to the other side and EM gbr goes with them but Spain have pass Canada here Canada must keep clear of Spain that’s good news for kiwi fans as it sits at the moment I think that will knock a point off the Canadians New Zealand stick with their strategy of taking out of phase staying away from other boats trying to sail clean they’re still in fourth but I think it will be better for them with canadae Spain ahead of Canada but this one’s going to the absolute wire as we see Canada and Spain in a match race down the boundary so the points do improve for New Zealand as they’re now TI but they lose that tie break they do have to get ahead of Canada in order to make it through to the final there copy that well it’s really tight and at the moment 50 m in it New Zealand come away from that Shoreline Canada Crossing clear ahead but there’s generally speaking been a nice little gain to the bottom right hand side of our screen can the kiwis find the Magic Touch to get back through Spain look like they’re going to struggle to make it past the boundary without some more Maneuvers but France still a Pierre clinical right now sailing away on that French boat so Emily to check your math if New Zealand gets past Canada so they finish in third Canada finish in fourth it’ll be New Zealand going through yes exactly Spain and France looking very good right now they make the turn down at the bottom of the course chatter on board the French Squad look how fast Spain is coming in oh and Spain shut the door on the Canadians there they block them they want to take the same turning to try and limit the opportunities of the can Canadians getting past New Zealand will I imagine turn right they’re going to try and keep themselves sailing their own pass there’s a few mistakes on that Canadian boat been a bit of white water around it but still a 50 m lead as the Germans are back in the race New Zealand big upwind leg all the fans on the shore surely going to be cheering on that New Zealand boat can Burling tuen Co make it happen big last up win leg for the Kiwi as they pass the adrenaline Lounge it is the black foils they are not trying to hunt down the Canadians the winners of last year event and look at the fans on their feet look at the maneuver Todd absolutely perfect that boat is locked in it’s on Rails but the Canadians still ahead at the moment Burling there nice work he says he’s happy with that they’re coming back they’re chasing but Spain are doing a great job against the Canadians on the boundary are they going fast enough top of screen New Zealand here they come 54 km an hour they’re within 20 M of the Canadians Canada has the right of way but further up the course when they come back together in about 30 40 seconds time it’ll be New Zealand with the right of way so this next split that we watch here is going to be crucial here come the black foils and they do dip right behind the Canadians let’s see what Phil Robertson does he’s got to sense what’s happening here they are currently almost dead even with the kiwis but look at the speed on the top of the Canadians about 57 km an hour there compared to 49 for the Canadians obviously the maneuver slows you down and as I said before with these big foils it takes so much longer to accelerate out of these Maneuvers how about the Germans Emily could they affect where the Kiwi end up because they are coming on strong with Eric KY they have closed the Gap they only going to affect it if they overtake Ki well right of way now with the kiwis and look at our ladder lines here it shows that the kiwis are back ahead of the Spanish potentially ahead of the Canadians as well Burling and toque they’ve got this thing on fire at the moment France are gone race win should be on the cards as long as there’s no more mistakes for the French New Zealand they have the right away Canada must s behind but crucially Spain have dropped back to fifth one more maneuver is going to be required for New Zealand one more maneuver for Canada before the top gate and it will be Canada with the right of way as they come into this top gate and as you can see there bottom left those are the points with these current changes this would put New Zealand through to that final and Spain on the outside still plenty to play for though as they get to this top gate well the Spanish really bailing out the Canadians as they have dropped back to Fourth unable to hold on to that second position tight Crossing there the kiwis and the Canadians they get a good look at each other it is now second and third Canada and New Zealand New Zealand no longer needs to get past Canada to get in the final as Spain is dropped back to four a poor maneuver there by the Spanish and that’s meters and meters of distance they’ve managed to lose in that maneuver The crucial thing here is Canada France and New Zealand to stay ahead of Spain and then it’ll be those three votes so it’s not too important where they finish as long as they’re ahead of Spain but New Zealand they’re just on a charge but no look at this it’s a 500 met lead for France and with the Spanish out into fourth that’s huge news for the kiwis cuz that would put them on 26 points overall and ahead of France on the overall leaderboard as well so here comes France they make the turn for home and that will give us three races three different winners Emily’s points crunchy look at New Zealand they were in fourth and now they look to be in first if the results stay the way they are right now New Zealand France and Canada would go on to the final but Liz give credit where credit is due France will get the win in race number three clinical Todd absolutely clinical by Dill Pierre B and Co they’ve absolutely now that Jason Saunders on flight control of course he’s a kiwi so he’ll be looking forward to a final performance here but the pla foils I mean Peter Burling it’s not like he’s been able to start a lawn mower at this event so far he’s been nearly at the back of the pack at mark one so far but the speed the Tactical ability the space finding they’ve got themselves there and they’re going to have one more chance for one more start here in New Zealand and if he can get off the start that black CL BS fast second place goes to New Zealand and race three Canada will hold on for third and with that that secures our top three there the kiwis French and Canadians will be the boats that go through to this final race how about Spain they were sitting in first place overall after the first two races they dropped to Fourth which isn’t a terrible finish Stevie and Emily but that takes them out of the final just think pressure continuous pressure mounts up and the kiwis okay they didn’t start very well that’s for sure but they’ve sailed the boat so well they just is not making mistakes and they’re fast the whole way through the race and that pressure I think just to on batin he just could feel them coming he knew there was no room for error and they made a slight error unfortunately so race one goes to the kiwis race two goes to Canada race three goes to France numbers have been crunched and now the final is set and it will be contan delapierre Peter Burling and Phil Robertson battling it out in front of a massive crowd here in Littleton Harbor take a deep breath we’ll debrief but let’s first take a look at some highlights again the start was critical and all the boats were speeding towards the line except for Germany who caused a traffic jam for the Canadians allowing the Spanish to get the perfect start Canadians slowed down but managed to re accelerate and get into that top three we saw got tighter gate too as we see New Zealand Burling had to take a voiding Accent on Switzerland oh there you go Switzerland have to keep clear and that put the kiwis back further in the pack fairly crucial moment Spain were going well they were up there but unfortunately it’s where you finish not where you start that [Music] matters wow what has turned into a great day of racing full of drama throughout if you’re a fan of Australia and Denmark not so much and we will get to more on that as Australia had incidents in race number one Denmark also had an incident one and they also docked eight points the Americans did not have their best day of sailing but we are now set for the final and once again the black foils and their fans are stoked they are into the final France will join them and Canada The Defenders of last year’s event here in New Zealand they are also back in the final we’ll have all that when we return to Christ Church and Littleton Harbor [Music] Lisa Dar Manon is sale gp’s reporter and presenter on site and we took a look at how she does her job during the race weekend I help produce social content throughout the weekend I’m in the mix Zone speaking to the athletes after every race day and I’m on the water providing color and insights in our live broadcast so we just go through the running order for for the day so um I’m talking to the guys in London who sort of run the show and then we go through the order so basically I know at you know 5 minutes into the show I’m doing my weather report and then uh straight after race one I’m trying to get an interview with the winner and and then normally we’re delayed and the whole thing goes out the window um and we just we just wing it but yeah we do we do this every morning um before we go live on Earth this is my TV boat so this is the chase boat that um I do all my live broadcast from so we get out here about an hour before racing um the teams have just started sailing and my job is kind of the eyes on the ground for the broadcast is to to figure out the racetrack just like the sailors are doing their practice laps to figure out what they’re going to do do you see this race having enough win that we can see some overtaking still in the lad legs definitely I think it’s all to play for around here when it’s Gusty when it’s Shifty it’s it’s not the survival conditions we were expecting it’s all about playing the IAL game and nobody’s safe out here takes the win in Sydney heading to Australia that’s did you hear how epic the crowd was when they did the overtake it was like absolutely when you got over dations to took a while but now you got the monkey off the back of the Wi on the board yeah no we’re so happy to to win it’s our first win of the the season hi just wrapped up in the Mi Zone it was an awesome day for me on the water I think it’s just been so long since we’ seen the boats actually go fast and it was it was really fun to watch and awesome to see the the home crowd cheering everyone on Shar Island waves flying car maches driven by the world’s best yes Power by Nature Power by Nature we all GP welcome back to sale gp’s event 9 in season 4 this is the itm New Zealand sale Grand Prix Christ Church at Littleton Harbor on behalf of Stevie Morrison Emily Nagel Lisa Darman and I’m Todd har we are under 5 minutes to go before the event final and that is only the top three teams on points that will race it off so plenty of room to move around the course as the fans have packed the stands largest crowd in sale GP history it will be the black foils of New Zealand France and Canada The Defenders of last year’s title beautiful day of racing in Littleton Harbor as we have reached event nine here in season fours the itm New Zealand sale Grand Prix and there’s the confirmation of the leaderboard Peter Burling does an absolute magic trick on that third and final race he gets his team into first place France consistent all day long they’re in second and Phil Robertson wins the points because on the tiebreaker they finished better in that last race ahead of Spain so Diego botin is on the outside looking in tough day for the Swiss Emer gbr and USA and of course Rockwell Denmark dock the eight points and Australia had a collision on the very first race so we all catch our Collective breaths we make an account of what’s going on and before we go racing Lisa Daron is with the overall leaders the kiwis P we congratulations the crowd was going wild every time you over took a boat there yeah um I think it’s it’s so nice to get racing today after to sat still yesterday and you really show what this venue can do um you we’ve absolutely loved our time down here in Cross they been amazing host the fans have been absolutely amazing and hope we can put together one more good last race to to really give them something to cheer out on their way home well you haven’t got off the start line but you’ve been pushing the boat every moment is it going to be a little bit easier with only three yeah we haven’t felt overly comfortable especially in the start area we kind of got ourselves in some really good spots and just haven’t quite executed the the final bot but hopefully she get easy with three Vates and um yeah we asking can we have a little repeat Battle of last year have a great race and good luck cheers so Peter Berlin and his crew are ready to do battle here in Littleton Harbor there are the three boats that will take place here in the event final you’ve got New Zealand on the left France in the middle and Canada on the right and there are the French STV I’ll tell you what you got to feel good for the French because they have missed out on multiple events by one point are losing on the tie break this time they are in and we are able to go now on board with content delapierre he is the driver for the French team content congratulations you guys are into the final after being so close for so long you guys have looked fast all day long I get the feeling that you really enjoy these conditions stand by ah content delier we are so happy to be with you you got your hands full and hopefully when you get a moment you can speak with us but uh Stevie I don’t know if this is the best time to chat with him it’s certainly not opportune I’d say looked like he had a couple of jobs on there uh getting the boat done but he did say satet which is let’s stop so maybe he’s slowing down to talk to us might be worth one last go to all right we’ll get a shot at it content DEA Pierre Todd Harris Stevie Morrison Emily Nagel with you content congratulations you guys are into the final what have the conditions been like and how have you guys been able to find so much speed here in Littleton Harbor yeah finally in the final like it’s been a while and uh I think that the team is super happy uh now it’s another game the final is very different from the fits and uh I can assure that the W fren team is really focused to win it and contan you seem like you’re sailing the boat pretty fast uh is that a change you’ve made to the team or just you’re happy always in windy conditions that you know how to sail these boats aggressively uh I don’t know we change a few things technically but uh it’s quite normal we do it uh it’s a normal Improvement but um I probably think that we believe more on what we are able to do and and that change a lot content we will let you get back to work as you get ready for the third the final race and we wish you a very great opportunity to take a victory here in New Zealand so content delapierre and the French are into the final as he said finally into the final it’s New Zealand France and Canada that will battle it out here in Christ Church so before we go racing here in the event final that defending champions of this event is Canada Phil Robertson their driver we are coming up on just over four minutes to go Phil been quite a day do you think the fact that no one raced yesterday kind of lend itself to everyone being maybe a little more aggressive on those first two races yeah I guess so it was pretty wild wasn’t it um plenty of action a bit of uh demolition derby but uh yeah good to be back in the final and have a crack at defending this title Phil we heard on the on pre-race you did an interview saying uh could potentially come in hot at the boat and full Robertson style I’d argue you’ve almost been a bit timid on the start line so far today what little special have you got lined up for us uh in this next one well the plan to win the pin so I’ll see how good I am at there good man put your money on the line I like it Phil have a great race nice thanks all right so Phil Robertson and the Canadians as he said they’d like to defend the title here that they won last year and they have looked good Stevie and Emily the starts have been terrific and they put themselves in a great position every single time good opportunity now to go back down on the water and Lisa Darman and Lisa it has been fullon for three races certainly worth the wait what can you tell us and what’s your latest Intel on the conditions well the conditions have actually picked up throughout the entire day it’s it’s over 30 km per hour across the course we’re really at the limit of these light air boards but you can just see how chaotic is these teams have not had any training and they’re pushing the limits to meet the Ki they’re looking dangerous they are really pushing the boat around this racetrack they’re they’re finding a really nice path that offshore side we have seen so away from the grass hand does have a little bit more Breeze but yeah it’s going to be a really tight battle these three boats are really shining in these conditions all right thank you very much Lisa we are now 210 away from the event final starting remember we had three races today where normally we would just have two so it was all on for three everyone excited to be out there racing and now we have reached the final the event final here in Littleton Harbor again it’s New Zealand France and Canada Australia they are not in it nor is Rockwell Denmark those are the two top three teams that will not be racing in the final it’s only the second time St the Australians have not been in it so now let’s look at the French and they are loaded well there you go look at Jason Saunders there on the French team has a uh mared together with man on so has a French child but he’s kiwi so he’s going to be looking for a good performance out there and I think the flight controllers have got a big role to to play out there today and how hard you drive the boat how high are you willing to fly the boats and we said those big foils have got a lot on same Andy Maloney on board the Kiwi boat there but I think it’s been Burling and Makai that have found their way through the fleet really well with that space But can they start the boat this time and with under a minute 8 to go before the start of the Race Canada will be the third team that will profile Phil Robertson of course kiwi by birth the winner of this event last year Stevie he’s got some good people around him including no other than Paul Campell James yeah Paul CJ’s been a nice addition to the team but again Billy goodam I can’t help but look at him big Good’s got to fly the boat aggressively and what I love there in Phil’s interview he just said what he wants to do we can judge him on his plan the plan he said was to win the pin end of the line what does he mean by that he means the downwind end the end that’s going to be closest to the bottom of TV screen that’s because from the top of the line they’re struggling to get full Pace but Berlin wants it too he tries to turn inside the Canadians Robertson defends cuts down across the kiwis now here we go what’s the next play Robertson’s well positioned but New Zealand will have a run at him and dilip Pierre looks like he’s going to go on his own and he’s going to wind it up on that French boat now New Zealand one more turn down they attack the Canadians again does Robertson defend or does he open things up it’s 9 seconds to go Canada must keep clearing New Zealand burling’s timed this well France are coming at PACE how’s your timing Peter Burling at the bottom end of the line perfect from the kiwis there on the inside they have control they should lead from here at War one but there’s going to be some tight rules incidents France must keep clear of Canada Canada must keep clear in New Zealand but the Canadians are out the back the French are the fastest boat on the course right now over 80 km of hour of speed the Kiwi is also very quick and have the inside at Mark number one it is the kiwis the black foils are up and foiling with Pace Canada sits on the inside France on the outside Stevie this is a big moment leg two of seven well they Robertson called the best place to start but he just couldn’t quite execute it burling’s timing was absolutely spot on he attacked him with 10 seconds to go there was no defense left now big decision at the bottom here do you save a maneuver on this leg with a left turn or we’ve seen the kiwis make a gain by heading back towards the it’ll be interesting what Burling and T choose to do this is the first time they’ve actually had a choice looks like they’re going to keep it simple with a left turn Canada will follow I anticipate France is surely going to look to split the course no they’re going to stay with them their whole Fleet are staying tight and if you’re on board that New Zealand boat you are over the moon to see that New Zealand the winners of race number one Canada won race number two and France won race number three so all the winners are out there today and Canada is the first to turn away well yeah they just say just sailing behind someone Todd you’re in Disturbed wind you’ve effectively got less potential horsepower someone’s blocking the wind in front of you there and that’s why Canada have chosen to get out so they can sail their own race sail with their own speed but it was a bit of a loss early on on the leg for the Canadians and France they’re going to be struggling to overtake the New Zealand boat by just following at the B at the boundary it is the kiwis the black foils they make the turn content delir and the French they sit in second on the course as it stands right now did Phil Robertson make the right call to split away early we’ll find out in a minute doesn’t look like a great call at the moment it looks like the wind’s rotated right he’s got a big left shift at the top he’s really turned away from those lines but he’s struggling look how slow they are the wind’s got light on that left hand side and that’s what Lisa told us there’s more wind towards the bottom of our screen should be good news for France and New Zealand and it certainly looks at at the minute Canada off the foils and so far we are seeing the is sailing beautifully out of the Maneuvers they are accelerating so much quicker than the French and that’s saying something for the boat that previously was the master class oh yeah but the New Zealand boats spent most of the day sailing in Disturbed wind we’ve not really seen what they can do and right now look at that that was a massive loss that extra maneuver the wind got light on Canada and they now need a mistake from those two lead boats they’re just at the minute that both teams New Zealand and France are stretching as wide as they can on the course they’re sailing right from boundary to boundary that strategically is to save Maneuvers every time you turn the boat like this you lose speed you lose distance so if you can minimize maneuvers you get yourself sailing around the course pretty quick but look at the speed of Canada right now it’s increasing now at 58 km an hour where the kiwis are going 43 the French drop now to 39 yeah they’re just sailing a slightly faster wider angle at the moment Todd New Zealand to desperately trying to make it up to this next turning Mark without another maneuver that’s the main priority for the key at the moment France chasing in but New Zealand if they can get around here I imagine France will follow them and they’ll feel very much in a controlling position on New Zealand it’s all about keeping it tidy and now it’s the Kiwi on to leg four of seven here in the event final of the itm New Zealand sale Grand Prix trying to win their home event France does in fact follow the kiwis and now it is Canada that has lost distance despite the speed and the speed picks up for the kiwis look at this approaching 70 km an hour the French currently with the fastest average speed around the course slightly closing that Gap with the kiwis but will it be enough that’s just classic of the French they like to sail the boat fast but normally the consequence of sailing the boat fast is you’re sailing a little bit more distance it’s always a it’s always a little way up do you sail less distance or do you sail faster and New Zealand at the moment what I like about the French right here is they’re just the kiwis continually are making the Right Moves so don’t do the move and give them the Race easily at the minute the French are staying there once we’re halfway up the next up wi leg dapier is going to have to try something he can’t continue to follow the kiwis but at the moment it’s not a terrible strategy because you just keep the pressure on the kiwis and you see if they’re going to crack under that pressure certainly something that does not happen very often Peter Berlin cracking under pressure but to your point Stevie this really is the first race that they’ve had this all by themselves out in front no one to have to deal with as Lisa talk to Burling having that extra space wasn’t really confident about their starts but today it seemed to work and here they are gate number four yeah here go the French now the’s making his move D Pierre chooses to do the extra maneuver down here splits away Burling turns right back towards the fans and this is it this is D Pierre’s move he’s split in the course he’s hoping for extra but look at that they’re a bit High they’re a bit loose on that rounding it was a tricky rounding but they’re messy they’re messy on the French boat there they’ve got slow should be good news for the kiwis but when they next come back together whoever is ahead I think will look to take the win here because they’re going to have a big Advantage apparently we have slightly more pressure on that offshore side as we’ve seen before with the French but not a lot no and it looks like a game to me to New Zealand to be perfectly honest right now looks like potentially 100 meter move I think the French had to do that I’ve got no problem with that from D Pierre he needed to try something but they just didn’t execute it well it was a messy rounding at the bottom not the easiest thing to do the jib and then turn the boat up two Maneuvers in a row but they just didn’t do it smoothly 50 m is now 120 M this is the New Zealand black foils this is their chance to bring it home in front of the fans now if they take the win here it’s not just the event that they are going to win they are going to take the lead on the overall season leaderboard and a very tight maneuver there by the black foils the kiwis and their sponsors looks like they are bringing it home the lead now has shrunk down to 100 so the French have picked up about 50 m but again they are running out of real estate as the kiwis will get through this next gate then they’ll head back up the course Phil Robertson getting back into play but he has run out of time as well he’s got a massive deficit to second and first yeah Burling did that extra maneuver there to ensure that he controls the final decision into the gate so he was happy to sacrifice a few me to give himself tactical control here he’s going to turn the boat now one last time before this top gate right on top of the French and then it should now be one turn down wind and they’ll be lined up for the final Mark so yeah lost a bit of distance to gain a lot of control there classic safe match racing move from Burling on the French and it’s Advantage New Zealand D Pierre and the French cre need a kiwi mistake to have any hope of getting the win here now how easy we making it so France follows New Zealand hoping that Peter Berlin and his team possibly make a mistake have a sloppy maneuver and they can capitalize but right now it is over 200 M that the kiwis have the lead they have waited a long time for this one and they are on their way to claiming the title here in Christ Church last maneuver here Todd can they nail it the boat smooth look how level that platform stays both holes similar distance above the water silky move they then tip the boat slightly on top there’s a lot of water over them avoiding that Mark oh that was a little bit Scrappy by the kiwis oh but the French are Scrappy in the background as well they’re up in the S maybe fatigue it’s been a long day out here on the water but right now the black foils are locked back in they’ve got the heel locked back in the French are charging but it’s going to be too little too late on board this French boat going to be second for France as the black hear the crowd on the shore that sounds like half of New Zealand standing up to applaud and they bring it straight in towards the adrenaline Lounge here in Littleton Harbor all of Christ Church on their feet say hello to your winners it’s the black foils with the win nothing the kiwis like more than a homeown win and France bring it home in second contel laier well he’s a pragmatic guy for the season massive massive moment for the French that could put them back into the top three back into that dream of making the ground Final in San Francisco later in season 4 but have a look at that for the New Zealand crew Burling he’s pumped the fans are pumped water day racing and look at the size of the crowd that turned out they were disappointed yesterday that there was no racing certainly worth the wait today action from the very start and it is the home favorites the black foils that get the win here at the itm New Zealand sale Grand Prix pretty happy with that one that was clinical he nailed the start he hadn’t got off the start line all day he executed the start that Phil Robertson told us he wanted to do that was the favored position can you do it yes you can and from then on well it was faultless wasn’t it they’ve looked fast all day their Maneuvers are really good they’re just clinical at keeping that platform very stable people and yeah kept it simple New Zealand gets the win look at the fans that have turned out and that was certainly worth the trip today perfect conditions the sun was out the wind was up and the winners once again the black foils Lisa Daron has made herself down and available with Peter Berlin and we sent it down to Lisa well Peter already ched to me so I’ve actually got BL Blair what an amazing race that was how St to you that crowd was absolutely epic ah it doesn’t get any better than that race we can win it home um beautiful conditions crowd what after yesterday’s disappointment for everyone so St to put on a good show today we said we would hope we do it and we we’ve done it the pressure was on but you guys absolutely delivered do you thrive under that oh absolutely we uh you know we got into a tough spot in that last Fleet race to actually make the final just held it together and and um yeah executed a good start and then a clean race from there so absolutely pumped we’re going to drop you off to that crowd for the champon moment enjoy BL we can’t wait we’re going to thank [Applause] you so Blair 2 having a visit with Lisa Dara now the team will make their way to shore in the prizegiving Stevie emilyy no one’s leaving they’re all sticking around for this party pretty pretty confident they’re relatively happy with the uh the all black black foils winning here that’s definitely what the fans are one one look for so here are the Stan we talked about it Stevie I said there’s a chance and look at New Zealand they take advantage of Australia not being able to race they now are the leaders 68-67 Spain is in third France in fourth Rockwell Denmark in fifth the USA now sits in six with Canada moving up a spot Emer gbr tough for them to take those four points they drop back to eighth place and then Germany and Switzerland so that set things up for an amazing home stretch with four events to go Emily yeah four events to go and it is still so tight especially between that third and fourth Position will it be the Spanish or the French that are able to get up there a Heroes welcome as they make their way to the shore here at the itm New Zealand sale Grand Prix what a day of racing here in Littleton Harbor and for those broadcasters that need to leave us you can always join us on S gp’s digital platforms for continued coverage here from Christ Church so what a day of racing event number nine goes into the history books and the itm New Zealand sale Grand Prix belongs to the hometown team it’s the black foils that come in and get the job done congratulations to Peter Berlin and his crew and now they set sail for the next event in [Music] Bermuda well what a race it was Stevie they just were slow methodical and I think the thing I heard the phrase I heard constantly throughout the day is keep it simple yeah it’s that’s isn’t that one of the easiest sort of U sayings to say really keep it simple but of course that’s pretty hard when you’re up against the best in the world and this New Zealand crew where they did not keep it in any way shape or form simple in the pre-art they didn’t get off the starts well Burling alluded to that himself but they got off the start line when they needed to in that final race and of course it’s Winner Takes all the final race they got it done but yeah they just sailed smooth they found space amongst the chaos and that’s so hard to do and I’m pretty sure they’re going to be more than happy to be amongst this chaos little maai Maloney Blair T the whole crew out there this is the Heroes welcome that I’m sure they could not have anticipated at the start of the day and then absolute Chaos on the water ensued multiple collisions the Australians get taken out on the second leg of race number one and look at this look at the amount of fans that have stuck around and they are certainly not going to miss this party oh they love their sailing in New Zealand and I mean there’s nothing they like more than a New Zealand team you know you think of New Zealand you think of sport you think of the All Blacks you think of the black Ferns and now think of the black boils it’s part of that New Zealand Dynasty that they’re growing and this could only help look at the fans I mean this is the biggest ticketed sailing event we’ve had in s GP and it’s just unbelievable to see and of course you’re going to stay around standing room only as they make their way to the prize giving area and we are just moments away from the trophy being handed off to Peter Burling and Company it has been quite a season for them for the Olympic gold medalist two-time America’s Cup winner as the kiwis third place incendia I know that was a bitter pill to swallow they wanted to upset the Australians who defended their home Waters but they come across the tasmin sea and now it is all about the black foils bit worried for a minute that he was going to start playing the drums Todd but he’s sticking to what he knows which is opening bottles of [Music] champagne cl to Li maai on the left side of the pitcher everyone trying to get themselves into position to get the best pitcher feeling this is going to be all over the New Zealand Instagram feed not a bad shot that and here we go we’re going to get the prizegiving ceremony take place in a moment to and it will be the honor of Sarah Johnson the itm CEO presenting the first place trophy to the black foils [Applause] got to be honest with you stepen Emily I got a bit of fomo we’re missing out on maybe we’re missing out one of the best parties of the year yeah that looks incredible looks like uh some party down there and well what a tonic it is after yesterday slightly slow start but that’s got to be one of the best days we’ve seen in s GP one of the great spectacles we go bubbly he’s got the tricks [Applause] practice makes perfect though that’s three out of four in a row now for the kiwis they’re on a roll slingsby’s got to watch out and more importantly to Emily’s point it is New Zealand now that sits a top the overall standings by one point so the three-time reigning and defending Champions Emily they’re in a little bit of trouble yeah the pressure is on but as we know it is all down to that final at the end of the season [Applause] got to be in the top three to make it into the Grand Final in San Francisco of course that’s coming up July 13th and 14th a long way off we’ve got four more events and I have a feeling this party may continue on for a [Applause] [Music] [Applause] while [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] are CH I can’t say this you been absolutely amazing I know well fantastic day of racing we had to wait a little while to get it but when mother nature turned it on she turned it on Full Tilt great weather great win and once again it is the black foils the kiwis that come down the home stretch and they get the win not only getting into the final but claiming the victory ahead of France and [Applause] Canada so let’s take a look at the highlights first off in the final throwing it back to the start we saw the kiwis early on realized they needed to take a controlling position they got the low Canada slow them down the Canadians got the Rolex best time start Crossing that line first but the Kiwi had more speed overtook them by Mark one well then from Mark one they did a nice job it’s first time they managed to get to mark one anywhere near the front of the fleet and of course it just gives you control of your decisions doesn’t it and they kept the course pretty simple from here they set themselves up with one maneuver down to gate two and that maneuver was well executed I think they’d have been so happy at this point in the race to see France and Canada follow I think France there that was maybe their moment to split away but it was the Canadians that chose to split away first but they split away from a position of weakness incredible scenes there what a stunning shot and these maneuver there just so the platform on that New Zealand boat is just so smooth France took the opportunity to split but unfortunately look at that the platforms a little wobbly a little unstable they did split but they didn’t execute that split and well if you make mistakes black foils aren’t going to left you off the hook they got it done so we take a look at the event points remember it’s 10 points for the win and those 10 points go firmly in favor of the black foils New Zealand gets the win France Canada top three Spain just missing out but they’ll get seven points Germany good performance for them and they consistently now rate in the top five Switzerland with Nathan aders now board they got some work to do but Nathan ad will get it sorted out and then Emer gbr and of course USA Canada Germany and Switzerland so there it is Championship Standings this now after nine events it is New Zealand with a one-point lead of Australia Tom slingsby is going to come back hard when they get to Bermuda Spain now sits in third place but really the Battle Is On Top between New Zealand and Australia and then everyone will be fighting for a top three position so they can make it to the Grand Final in San Francisco come July and you got to think Emily Spain’s in that running France is in that running possibly Rockwell Denmark maybe the USA on the outside yeah I mean definitely the Danish just need to win an event and they’ Rocket up that [Applause] [Music] scoreboard well debriefing continues the French still out on the water and Lisa Dar Manet still out on the water as she catches up with Team France finishing in second place well conton you finally made that final and you pushed the kiwis right to the end almost got them yeah yeah that was really close and uh now it’s a really good feeling inside the team I mean we were we were there for the win but I think we we put pressure on them and it was not easy for them and uh the learning curve of the French team is really really good so yeah really good timing and Kevin there were a few difficult moments obviously you had the big foils on it was Gusty the wind really picked up uh was it a good timeout here yeah it was on the edge with the slab and the 24 meta Wing me was uh we never reached that that speed with that configuration so it was tough for us especially for the Grinders yeah and Manon it was a little bit of an easier RAC trck didn’t practice day what kept you so busy there was so many collisions but you guys stayed out of trouble yeah it was pretty pretty unstable win but yeah we managed to find um yeah good good solutions to to play with the wind and your fourth overall now so you got to keep pushing are you looking forward to the next few events yeah exactly uh as I said it’s a good timing uh especially for the end of the season and uh and yeah looking for the championship I’ve just heard that you’re just one point behind Spain who’s in third so you’re very much in the hunt for that final yeah exactly really good uh experience here in K chur uh San Francisco is still still a long way but the dynamic inside the team is uh is really good now and Kevin there are a few people that were like what’s happened to the French team are they still good enough but you guys always had belief in yourself yeah of course we we have to till the end he still four grand player remaining so of course we know we we are not going to give up now and Manon you had little Louie here cheering you on as well was he in the stands what sorry you had your little boy cheering you on yeah I hope he’s going to he wasn’t uh sleeping when we during the final but anyway he’s going to be happy well thank you all so much congratulations and we’ll see you in B Lisa thanks thanks all right thank you very much Lisa and now it is on as we make the move for the final four events and it will be a good one as we make the move to Bermuda it will be the Apex group Bermuda sale Grand Prix May 4th and 5th taking place in bermuda’s Great Sound one of the most beautiful places in the [Music] world and for the first time two one second to go and we are looking forward to getting to Bermuda Emily especially is excited to get back home as we look forward to the Apex group Bermuda sale Grand Prix that’s May 4th and 5th what a day of racing here at the itm New Zealand sale Grand Prix in Christ Church from the get-go stev it was absolute chaos yeah a bit cars wasn’t there and it’s going to have repercussions on the season fortunately the Canadian boat was okay us boat turning up into the boat there and of course the Australians are three-time champions with well that’s going to be that’s going to be a memory we remember for a long time that Mark right in the way there on that first down wi leg the Australians just didn’t see it or didn’t realize they had to avoid the Canadians not entirely sure what happened we’ll find out that but New Zealand managed to work back through the fleet that’s the story of the day for me I think New Zealand not quite getting off the start start line but finding space and able to use their speed and a race number two it was Canada this time but things again Emily got a little bit loose yeah we saw it across all of the boats a few crashes off getting the boats filled with water and with the big foils on it was hard enough to get that acceleration going so the last thing he wanted was to fill the holes up with water and when they came to the line it was Canada that would win race number two Phil Robertson looking to duplicate what he did last year here race three Stevie it was all on everyone anxious to get points well it was a race of the final wasn’t it Tod and at mark one but it looked good for Spain for France for Canada and New Zealand were back in the pack I mean there was some tight moments there in the pack we saw New Zealand having to avoid the swi it’s just so tight at gate two but now we work on through the race and by the final up wind the black foils made the cross they just pulled it out of the bag when they had to D La Pierre was absolutely imperious in that race but when we got to the final it was all about this bottom end of the start line Phil Robertson told us that but Berlin got it and he hit it with speed and continue to lead the entire way around the course we saw just how perfect every single maneuver was looking at the numbers they were losing 30 m every time they turned a corner while the French still good were up at 50 so it’s those little differences that made the ultimate L the kiwis were just that much better today and it’s the black foils that get the win so that will wrap things up from the itm New Zealand sale Grand Prix in Christ Church Stevie final thoughts and predictions as we go to Bermuda well expect the unexpected we’ve had one day racing Russell CS look at him he’s enjoying it down there who isn’t enjoying it thoughts are it’s not over till it’s over and the kiwis are on fire Emily you excited to get back to Bermuda I mean I think it’s going to be the best event of the year but I might be a little bit biased but May bermudo good wind and it’s still all to play for well what a race it was the action came fast in practice unfortunately Emirates gbr they suffered a collision Denmark had their problems as well but we turned the page and we look forward again it’s the Apex group sale Grand Prix May 4th and 5th in bermuda’s Great Sound that’ll do it the black foils get the win at the itm New Zealand sale Grand Prix on behalf of Stevie Morrison Emily Nagel and Lisa Daron I’m Tod Harris Saint so long for New Zealand we’ll see you in Bermuda welcome to event 9 of season 4 and the itm New Zealand sale Grand Prix big big that’s Unthinkable there the black foils get the win at race one I think I just became the favorite kiwi kiwis French and Canadians will be the boat that go through perfect from the kiwis it’s the black foils with the [Applause] win

It‘s so fantastic to be able to see the races like that. Thank you! 🙏
"Look at the speed!" "But they are sailing a wider angle!" The solution is simple. Show the VMG. It's the only number you need to show. Without VMG you can't understand sailing.
Kiwis, Kiwis, Kiwis thats all we hear. Canada is very competitive but even leading they focus on the damn Kiwis.
Enough already!!!
What happened to the penalty points for the crashes in Race 1?
What a loss for Australia! Impressive race from Spain though! Nice win for New Zealand 🙂
very well sailed by NZL! great performance at home 🙂
Black Foils Matter! Great Job NZ!
First Race, Switzerland going to P2 to P7, they have a penalty. NOT ONE Word from commentray. Why? Those commentators are the worst
Wow best racing ever
Did do nine?
Why are New Zealanders suddenly being called "black foils"? They all have black foils.
Either shut up, or cut the on board feeds. Far too much going on, so we can't make head or tail of anything!
The Black Foils? Shouldn't it be The Black Cats? Or are they superstitious?
Nice
Race 1 finish @16:40, Race 2 finish @40:40, Race 3 finish @59:59 Final finish @1:22:40
Nathan Outterigdge- The Chamelian
Great to see that smart minimum maneuver sailing. Little bit of home ground knowledge. Cleaning up. Black foils- red socks
The course designers need to learn from their mistake. They put Aus, Canada & NZ in that position. Fortunately the Australian's chose the lesser of two evils.
Compare this racing to that of Abu Dhabi. Chalk and cheese. Give me this racing any day.
Wow now the Black foils lead the way in the Championship well done, keep pushing it guys and keep building. Bad luck Australia ain't over yet.
did anyone else notice Germany and Demark didn't round the mark that Aus had a fight with.
Lack of VMG continues to hurt the series badly. Your viewers are not stupid, so why treat us like we're dumb? 🙁
You could even have the commentators continuously refer to it as "Velocity Made Good" – you know, to explain the graphical acronym. Once you have heard those three words, you do not need to know any more. It is entirely self-explanatory. Like "Kilometres Per Hour".
Great race! One of the most fun races I've watched.
why is it that i had to wait until today in Australia to see the full racing of day two?
hahahaha thats my team🎉👊🏽
Team Nz
Iam'ma so glad two have X'd Yu'r insurance, makes itt much more funn, lik'a fresh aire Kidd's, yepper's, real racing family,. Cheer's! Ash'ent Mariner, An'na The Troglodyte's Down'Under ❤
Well done Team NZ; best for all your future races. To the French; REMEMBER THE RAINBOW WARRIOR ! Just a reminder that the only person to damage the "America's Cup" was a Maori 🙁
The only team the Americans can beat is a team not racing! Go USA!
VMG please and thank you. Also you NEED to sort out the poor quality of the helicopter shots. I've seen better video from Ukrainian drones in a warzone.
The US Is embarrassing
Couldn’t get past the introduction music
A few signs up around the city wouldn't hurt anyone would have loved to watch this in my own city especially being international teams racing fuks me off lol
How many dolphins were sacrificed for this , choosing a marine sanctuary to race idiotic
Lot of practice make it perfect. Go kiwis. Road to Americas cup 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
THAT WAS EXCITING AS HECK.
one annourcer is horrible.
Watch out for the Taniwha. He'll bite your Raho.
Ride-over-rider, 'Slingers' Tommy Slingsby gets slung-out. Picked-off by the mark. Cannibals ate him. Tongue-wavers. Cheers. Fix the boat.
Can we stop calling them the black foils…
US boat is an embarrassment to sailing. No wonder we can't win an America's Cup anymore.
