New Balance 574 Greens v2 is an Affordable, Workhorse Golf Shoe

After taking the New Balance 574 Greens v2 for an extensive one week spin in Myrtle Beach, I am thoroughly impressed with what @newbalance has been able to upgrade and improve in their golf shoes in recent years. Coming in at a price point that severely undercuts the competition in the golf space, we should look forward to New Balance Golf continuing to gain traction.

welcome back to part for the course this is my first shoe review in quite some time to be honest there’s not been a lot of golf shoes that have come out over the last year or two that have really gotten me excited which is why I’ve slown up on my shoe reviews but this is the Genesis of this channel one of the things that I really enjoyed doing when I first launched I want to get back to that I want to have shoes that make me excited and I think I found one I recently went on a trip to Myrtle Beach I said hey perfect time to go sifting and finding a shoe that might work I had a gift card from my mother from my local Golf Galaxy Dick Sporting Goods went into it looking for something open-minded kind of looking for a versatile shoe that I could wear with multiple outfits on a trip and not have to pack multiple golf shoes to match up with that one of the brands that has gotten me excited over the last couple of years is a new balance and I am not new to New Balance I have a pair from a couple of years ago that I will go over as well they have been really dropping some good golf shoes interesting colorways the thing about New Balance is the profiles and the kind of the shoes that are synonymous with their brand cross over to the golf space very well that doesn’t keep them from dropping some original looks and things that are unique to golf but I think they’ve gone back to their unique DNA which is classic Silhouettes and things that you are familiar with if you are into the New Balance brand the shoe I’m reviewing today is the New Balance 57 for greens V2 if this is your first shoe review with me there are three different factors that I base a shoe on that’s rockability the ability to change it up with different outfits um does it catch people’s eye is it just kind of a a solid shoe that kind of thing from a fashion standpoint golf ability can you actually play golf in this shoe is it good for golf or is it just something that you just decided to buy or is it going to be good for the sport that you’re intending it to and durab ility how does a shoe hold up over time and through multiple wees different conditions Etc does it require a bunch of cleaning after the fact just to get the shoe back in order for your next round or do you have to go through a full cleaning cycle this past week when I Tri this shoe in Myrtle Beach was the perfect opportunity as I played multiple rounds played one Upon returning home as well so I have 4 and a half rounds under the belt with this shoe to give you my honest feedback and how it help hel up over the week so let me get into the rockability aspect of this I give this about eight out of 10 I’m a fan of the tan kind of brown accents of this shoe as well as gray which can be mixed with different you know outfits that aren’t necessarily committing you to wearing one color up above and you can just put this shoe on with multiple things um and I really enjoyed that about this shoe again I wore it four times with one bag of clothes that I took with with me and it worked well with all of them this particular colorway of the shoe I’ve only been able to find it through Golf Galaxy SL Dick Sporting Goods it’s not available on the New Balance website so you might have to venture out for some different colorways look online see what’s available I’ve seen different retailers have different colorways available of this shoe with different accents and and colors so definitely a shoe that if you don’t like this particular color there’s options out there ail able for you again the 574 is a classic silhouette for New Balance if you like it you’re going to like it um I tend to find that people either like New Balance or they don’t there’s very little in between but I think this is a solid shoe that’s not going to offend anybody it’s very well adapted for the golf side of things if you’re in the New Balance family I think this is a must pickup for the golf side of things then we move over to the golf ability side of it I give this shoe a 9 out of 10 and once I laced the shoe up it was forgettable in terms of you just put it on and you go play your round and you don’t think about it ever again until you’re done with the round so my feet tended to feel a little bit warm after it was all said and done but overall while playing the the shoe felt great um I was able to turn I played in some early mornings with a lot of De on the ground you know a lot of watering going on in Myrtle Beach I got rained out one day um you know played six holes tried to kind of battle it out until it was too much but the shoes still held up in the turf without any slippage I cannot recall not one opportunity through all the holes of golf that I played where the foot did not feel stable onto the ground I like the flat profile of the sole as well I’m very grounded it’s a feel that I enjoy particularly over other kind of more dressy golf shoes like a foot Joy where your foot might be on a slant has a heel where your um heels higher than your toe I don’t love that feel I play my best golf with a flat-footed golf shoe and that was the case with this particular New Balance shoe again I mentioned the wet conditions this also included playing off some pine straw occasionally it was a good shoe I really felt like I could play tons of rounds in this shoe I didn’t get the opportunity to walk because there’s not a lot of that in Myrtle Beach but this is also a shoe that um you could wear throughout a walking round as well as I had to play cart path only on one particular day and involved quite a bit of walking still held up incredibly well durability I’m going to give this a 9 out of 10 um again I have worn this shoe four and a half rounds and that’s dirt that’s you know mud from overwatering that is you know dewy conditions and after each round you know I took the towel that I used to kind of wipe down my club the microfiber leather that this shoe is constructed of wipes off very cleanly it’s almost waterproof and you’re just able to kind of get dirt and grime off with one quick swipe there’s not any materials on the kind of main upper of the shoe until you get near the sock liner that are going to stain and retain a lot of dirt and grime and I felt like I didn’t have any of that to contend with with this shoe wipe down very quickly the only areas that tended to retain some dirt were the uh upper part of the out soole so on this white portion where there’s some stippling and that was able to kind of retain some dirt even after throwing it in the washing machine when I got home that did stay that would take a soft bristle brush and some soap and water to get some of that off but honestly not really bothersome at all I’ll probably go a few more rounds until I end up doing that doesn’t bother me just makes the shoe look a little bit more aged and worn which is fine um I don’t need it to be sparkly white every time I step out um and also the sock liner kudos to New Balance for always providing a kind of plush sock liner and rarely do you see an allh sock liner which is a big criticism that I have of certain shoe brands particularly Nike always coming with a super white or you know maybe slightly off-white sock liner here we have a gray and it’s heavily p ped to keep you know your foot comfortable me I have ruptured my achilles in the past and so certain shoes will tend to dig into my kind of Achilles area on my right hand side creating some blisters did not experience that all week wearing these with ankle socks which I thought was the better look of these shoes and again after a quick wash the sock liner was back clean and that kind of gray did very well over the week with sweat and just dirt and grime not piling up so overall um in terms of durability of the shoe I’m not seeing any breakdown or areas where I’m seeing you know strings hanging out again this is 4 and a half rounds that this shoe has held up incredibly well which from a durability standpoint not much that I can complain about outside of those you know so and sock liner issues in terms of sizing of this shoe I regularly wear a 10 and A2 I have previous New Balance shoe that I’ve purchased in 10 and A2 it’s very comfortable on foot um in the store the 10 and 1 half was the display model and I couldn’t find the secondary shoe um outside of the one that was in the box underneath the display um the display was actually empty for this particular shoe I did find a 10 tried it on that particular day I was wearing a sockless kind of look and tried it on and it felt very comfortable had room to spare so I figured when I got home with an ankle sock um a no-show sock that it would be very comfortable as well and sure enough it was be mindful that with a thicker sock a crew sock that has some padding to it it doesn’t fit as comfortable however after breaking in it’s a little bit better this shoe I would say in my opinion fits about a half size smaller than your normal um fit I would try it on in store for your own um feel and what works best for you um I have a medium width foot I don’t have a wide foot at all and this shoe felt incredibly comfortable throughout the week again put it on ultimately forgot about it um it doesn’t affect you in any way where you’re feeling things poking you it’s an incredibly comfortable shoe over the course of a 4-Hour round highly recommended and that doesn’t even include the value which I think is the biggest proposition of New Balance and this being at a $99 price point point it’s a Workhorse of a shoe one that you can wear week in week out round after round and get great value for $99 you’re not going to find a lot of shoes that aren’t on sale just retail priced for $99 I think it’s a steal of a golf shoe so if you are into the New Balance look you like the comfort of their shoe running is their DNA this is the shoe for you I would pick it up without hesitation and wear it all summer find a color that you like that fits your outfits things that you wear on the course and you will not be disappointed I’m not endorsed by New Balance I just love that their product has evolved over time as I show kind of their spikes on this old shoe and so this area which has some yellowing and Plastics that you know oxidation over time New Balance has corrected and moved away from materials that don’t work for the long term with their shoe so I highly recommend them as a brand any company that evolves over time and gives you value for money is one that I can get behind especially when it’s comfortable and it performs at this level watch out for New Balance they’re coming in pretty dang hard you’ve seen them with collaborations between malbon and other brands and I think it’s very fitting for them to Market in the way that they do get their name out there so people will see them as a viable option in the golf space which I think they very much achieved and gotten to over the last handful of years again I’m always looking for shoes that are exciting hopefully foot Joy comes out with some new stuff Nike honestly has been a little bit stale for me although I am looking at possibly picking up a pair of the Pegasus and that seems to be a good shoe this year so plan on getting back to these shoe reviews I miss doing them I miss kind of giving shoes a nice little run and seeing what they have to hold we’ll catch you on the next one peace you get a lot of stuff out of this channel y’all little business knowledge you know a little technical golf knowledge
