Red Bull drama intensifies as Herer and verstappen have a war of words Lando Norris reveals the true pace of McLaren against Red Bull and another Ferrari disaster class cost the clerk a decent starting position do consider subscribing to the channel let’s get straight into the latest F1 news josepher stappen has withdrawn from a Legends parade in Austria this weekend where he was supposed to be driving a Red Bull rb8 for stappen senior had been scheduled to drive a Red Bull rb8 as driven to title Glory by Sebastian fedel in 2012 but has pulled out of the event the run in the rb8 had been organized by Red Bull gmbh’s Thomas uberall and would have seen verstappen Take The Wheel of one of Red Bull’s most dominant F1 machines on the same weekend as his son Max contends for victory in the rb20 but verstappen has seemingly pulled out of the event of his own accord with Red Bull Racing Team boss Christian Herer having queried the decision with the F1 team’s parent company as the Dutchman earlier this year called for herner’s job as team boss at the height of the Fallout for from gmbh’s internal investigation while sources say Herer did not insist on verstappen’s run being pulled verstappen is said to have taken the decision himself when he became aware of her’s position particularly as a block on the publication of photos and videos of verstappen’s run is understood to have been requested a report from Dutch publication to telegraphs Eric vanharen quoted versten as saying in recent days I have heard from several sides that Christian Herer has done everything to not let me drive and otherwise to make sure that nothing would be filmed then I think say it in my face this way it doesn’t have to be for me I find it very disappointing for stop and branded Herer childish in an interview with formula 1nl saying how childish can you be there was going to be filming also with a drone but Herer didn’t want me to be filmed I’m completely finished with Herer it’s like a playground here I would have been allowed to drive in the end but I backed out I find this so childish of horer but I think it saids something about him sources have also told planetf1.com that the relationship between Herer and verstappen has not yet healed following the dramas of earlier this year with an offered handshake from Herer to verstappen allegedly not accepted when the pair met on Friday morning while verstappen senr is no longer taking part in the Run ghard Berger David card Johnny Herbert and Emerson fit aaly are set to tear up the Red Bull Ring in historic Machinery ahead of Sunday’s Austrian Grand Prix planetf1.com has approached Red Bull for confirmation on who might replace for stappen at the wheel of the rb8 the reemergence of tensions between Herer and verstappen comes just as piece appeared to have been restored between the Red Bull and verstappen camps months of speculation over Max for sten’s future has seen Mercedes emerge as a possible destination for the three-time F1 world champion despite having a contract with Red Bull until 2028 but with get out Clauses within his contract leaving the door open to the possibility of a team switch mercedes’s Toto wolf has made it clear verstappen is his primary target to replace the departing Lewis Hamilton for 20125 joose was spotted in The Paddock deep in discussion with mercedes’s driver development adviser Gwen lru and chief Communications officer Bradley Lord but for stappen confirmed on Thursday his intention is to remain with Red Bull next season you didn’t get that out of my answer before he told media when asked to State straight out if he will race for Red Bull next year okay yes but that’s what I said I mean we’re already also working on next year’s car you know yeah I think when you’re very focused on that that means that you’re also driving for the team speaking to Austrian broadcaster ORF wolf was asked whether he’s still hopeful of tempting verstappen over to Brackley as I always say we’ll keep our free seat free for as long as possible he said first and foremost we have to make our car faster if the car goes fast fast drivers do be you Mclaren has arrived at the Austrian Grand Prix boasting a new front wing and the change seems to be paying off in qualifying for the Sprint race Lando noris and Oscar piastri qualified in second and third with piastri stating that McLaren is back on the pace the McLaren results may only be relevant for Sprint qualifying but the success of the new front Wing has both drivers confident that the team can perform throughout the duration of the Austrian Grand Prix weekend Mclaren has been steadily narrowing the gap between itself and the dominant Red Bull Racing team for months and a new front Wing introduced this weekend has already given Oscar piastri confidence that the team has what it takes to challenge at the front reflecting on his third place qualifying position to f1tv piastri said I think the position is quite good obviously but the last lap there were a couple corners I could have tidied up I think it’s nice to at least know where the time is obviously a bit of a rough one last weekend so we feel like we’re back on the pace and the new front Wing was working well the front Wing is designed to improve air flow which will be critical at the short and fast Austrian Grand Prix track the new Wing geometry should better work with the woking team’s updated front suspension and better even out what the team considers to be an imbalance in the MCL 38 performance between low and high-speed Corners after the Spanish Grand Prix McLaren team principal Andrea Stella noted that all teams have been struggling to adapt this generation of car to compete equally well at various kinds of circuits this update seeks to rectify those problems the end result of these changes is a more confident Pier asked by f1tv if he feels he can win he said I think so I mean the Gap to Max is not massive and I know there were a couple big mistakes on that lap so we’re definitely in the mix meanwhile Pi’s teammate Lando Norris will start alongside pole sitter Max for stappen on the front row of the Sprint race grid asked how he feels about Saturday’s race Norris admitted I think reasonably good to be be honest I never got quite comfortable probably until my final lap so I’m happy with that it’s as close as it’s been all year so no difference it must have been a good lap by Max and it’s a good position for the race tomorrow will McLaren be able to take the fight to verstappen thanks to this updated Wing Norris is confident from what we see at the moment yes but otherwise I’m not sure Mercedes team principal Toto wolf has said that while fp1 was a good session for them sprint quality ifying was not so because expectations are different now within the Silver Arrows George Russell qualified fourth and Lewis Hamilton said he had a disastrous session in finishing sixth for Mercedes but wolf thought the team could have been in the fight for pole on Friday Mercedes have significantly closed the gap on their front running rivals in recent weeks as they have brought improvements to the W5 with both Russell and Hamilton having scored their first podiums of the season in Canada and Spain respectively Russell briefly led the Spanish Grand Prix last time out after a lightning start from fourth on the grid but Mercedes have continued to reel in the likes of Red Bull and McLaren of late as they search for a way back to the front of the field they admit they are not quite there yet but nevertheless their team principal had hoped to be in the fight for pole position over one lap at the Red Bull Ring ahead of Saturday’s Sprint it’s good to be at home wolf said to Sky F1 after the session weekend has gone well fp1 was a good session for us qualifying not so but it’s clear you know the expectations are different now we thought that we can play for pole and clearly verstappen was just much too quick and the McLarens like they’ve done in the past they were just able to put a strong lap in they will have the chance to do it all again after the 24 lap Sprint with qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix to follow as the drivers have a full session to set their grid positions for Sunday’s full race wolf admitted that pole may be Out Of Reach but that he hopes to put one of his cars on the front row if possible I think that Sprint is difficult to judge but when you look at the pecking order and qualifying that’s probably what it is also the race wolf said I think we are we are continuously developing the car and learning and qualifying is a different game maybe we can be closer to verstappen tomorrow maybe a front row would be a great result but everything to play for Max for stappen has identified a key difference with his Red Bull rb20 after setting pole position for the Austrian Grand Prix Sprint race revealing the car was in a good window from the start of the Friday in Spielberg having produced the most dominant season in F1 history last season setting a new record with 19 victories from a possible 22 races as he eased to a third consecutive world championship for stappen had been expected to crush the opposition once again in F1 2024 yet despite starting his latest title defense by winning four of the opening five races including three one-w finishes for Red Bull in Bahrain Saudi Arabia and Japan the team team have appeared increasingly vulnerable over recent weeks having struggled over bumps and curbs in Amelia Romania Monaco and Canada Red Bull had been tipped to be back at their best at last weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix verstappen collected his seventh victory of the season in Barcelona extending his lead in the world championship to 69 points yet declared that Red Bull’s dominance has completely gone after missing out on pole position to McLaren driver Lando Norris the Dutchman went on topr Express his frustration that it took a bit of fine-tuning again to get the car quick following the pattern of his recent struggles for sten’s problems appeared to be worsening after he slowed to a halt with a sensor issue during the only practice session at the Red Bull Ring but soon returned to the track to set the pace in fp1 before pipping Norris to Sprint pole by 0.093 seconds speaking after the session for stappen searching for his sixth victory at the Red Bull since 2018 declared it a good start to the weekend with the car pretty strong from the off on Friday he said it was positive day to be honest I’m happy we started off the day well the car was already in a good window little niggle with the sensor but we fixed that quickly and then heading into qualifying I think the car was pretty strong I could push of course there will always be areas where we can do better so we’ll look at that tonight but definitely a good start to the weekend with Norris alongside him on the front row and his teammate Oscar piastri 3/10 back in third verstappen is wary of the threat McLaren posed this weekend and he believes the 24lp mini race on Sundays will offer a clue to how the Grand Prix will play out after verstappen acknowledged that McLaren had a quicker car in Barcelona last weekend he said at the end of the day when everyone is pushing flat out they are again behind me so for sure they’re quick as well we seem quick in the high speed which of course is nice around here hopefully we can keep that going also tomorrow but of course the Sprint race will give us an early indication of how the pace will be in the race for every car so I’m looking forward to that Charles lir was left questioning what happened with his engine after it went into anti-stall in the pit Lane in the final part of Sprint qualifying in Austria after the majority of sq3 saw the drivers waiting in the pit Lane for their one and only run of the session the remaining 10 drivers were queuing to get out on track for one lap of the Red Bull Ring to set the grid L clerk was among the final drivers in the pit Lane but his Ferrari went into anti- D mode as he was emerging from the pit Lane forcing him to restart his car when he eventually emerged from the pit Lane he was tight for time to cross the start Finish Line in time to start a flying lap in the final part of Sprint qualifying and was meters away from the line when the checkered flag fell this led him to hit his steering wheel in frustration when he found the session was over before he could set a lap what the hell happened guys L clerk questioned over team radio with race engineer Brian and bosy responding we took the anti-stall L clerk then replied thank you but the anti-stall kind of stopped the engine the engine switched off I don’t know if you noticed but there was no engine speaking after getting out of his car the Ferrari driver was left frustrated at what had happened but had not had time to discuss with the team before speaking in the media pen after the session he said I don’t know what happened I got the anti-stall and then everything switched off the team told me that will speak when I’ll be back in the garage but obviously I went straight from the car to here so I don’t know when asked what was possible without that setback he responded we weren’t super strong but definitely better than P10 so it’s a bit disappointing but we’ll look at what happened and tomorrow we’ll try to have a good Sprint race to come back in the front Ferrari teammate Carlos SS qualified up in fifth for Saturday’s Sprint around the Red Bull Ring with Max for stappen set to start on pole for the 100 kilm dash around Austria Christian her has weighed in on the future of Daniel Ricardo after Red Bull adviser helmet Marco indicated Liam Lawson is set to take his seat heading into the Austrian Grand Prix weekend Marco said that kiwi driver Liam Lawson is set to succeed Ricardo in the RB seat according to Austrian publication kleinet sidong Marco has revealed that the energy drinks shareholders are Keen to see RB return to its roots as a team to train Young Drivers having produced the likes of Max verstappen and Sebastian fedal in its previous Toro Roso guys and that he says means RB will have to turn to Lawson in the near future he said the shareholders have made it clear that it is a junior team and we have to act accordingly the goal was that Ricardo would be considered for Red Bull Racing with exceptional performances that seat now belongs to Sergio Perez so that plan is no longer valid we will have to put a young driver in there soon that would be Liam Lawson planetf1.com stands Red Bull is yet to exercise its option on Lawson but a resolution could be found before the summer break to secure his future whether that is for an F1 2025 race seat or a potential mid-season swap with Ricardo remains to be seen But addressing the prospects of a potential driver swap at RB and whether Ricardo’s seat truly is in danger Red Bull team principal Herer said the Australian still has time to deliver I think anything regarding drivers are going to be dealt with in-house before we talk to the media about it he said they’re all red bull racing drivers and every Red Bull driver knows that there’s always a pressure that there’s always a scrutiny but Daniel is in the seat and it’s down to him to make the most of that and then it’s always as we see in Formula 1 things are always fluid RB team boss Peter Bayer sitting alongside Herer during the Friday press conference in Austria echoed his colleague stance and said Lawson’s progress within the team is keeping him in the conversation for the second seat Liam is part of the team he’s our test driver he’s in the simulator he said he’ll be in the TPC testing of previous cars we’ll do our job to develop Young Drivers but the decision on the second seat will be taken quietly and we’re not in a hurry but berer made a point of emphasizing just how much of a contribution Ricardo has made to the team since stepping in to replace Nike Dev last year well he certainly has helped us tremendously he said looking back last year when he joined the team he brought a whole new energy and spirit into the team and he has been extremely helpful in reporting Yuki tooda Yuki has just stated that very recently actually that he still keeps learning from Daniel and it’s part of our job as is a mission from the shareholders to develop drivers that’s what we currently do certainly this is about performance we do luckily have a couple of options with the junior program but we’re also not in a hurry to take a decision for next year’s lineup we’ve confirmed Yuki which was very important for us and the focus currently honestly as you can tell is on the car and to go into the summer break and have a quiet discussion Lando Norris has refuted suggestions McLaren have the fastest car in F1 2024 adamant it was only his tire Delta to Max for stappen that made it appear that way in Spain although Norris once again had to settle for second place behind verstappen 2. tws down at the checkered flag at the Spanish Grand Prix the Britain had been catching the Red Bull in the final stint he says that’s not because the MCL 38 is faster than the rb20 it was purely down to Tire Delta Norris ran longer than verstappen in the first stint 23 laps to 17 which opened the door for shorter stints after his two pit stops he was on the medium pellis for 24 laps compared to verstappen’s 27 and then put on the softs for the run to the line for 19 laps to verstappen’s 22 Norris emerged from the pits after his second stop some 8 seconds down on verstappen but with his tires three laps newer he was able to close the gap to 2.2 even after reviewing last weekend I don’t necessarily think we had a much quicker car than Red Bull he told the media including planetf1.com I looked quicker than Max because of my extended stints having a decent Tire Delta over him I think six laps in the first part and four laps in a second around Barcelona it’s a big difference it might only be four laps and for people who don’t know it might not look like anything but four laps of Tire Delta to another car is quite extreme in terms terms of lap time difference so that was actually the time difference between what Max was doing and what I was doing not that we were miles quicker on just an outright lap basis I think that we had a good strategy that we looked so much quicker having declared after the previous race that he was missing 1% that would allow him to achieve more Grand Prix wins Norris was asked where he could find that he believes it’s the tiny little things that are making the difference in his battles against stoping and Red Bull such as those couple of meters at the start in Spain I don’t think there’s an easy answer to it he said even my start was not a bad start it was just a couple of meters not a perfect start of course I think at the time maybe it was a bit over critical on saying that it was a bad start I didn’t have a bad start typically my starts have been very good and very consistent and one of the best and up there with one of the best but I want to be the best so just in every little area there’s all these little things just a little bit more preparation or a bit more practice on Fridays or Saturdays and getting these things nailed down but my start has not been bad it’s just max was a slightly tiny tiny better one and that tiny difference made the biggest difference in the world on our actual finishing positions so honestly I think I was really a bit overcritical and it’s not with everything there are so many areas along the race where things can go wrong so I don’t think we need to overreact in any way again like I said after all the reviews we’ve done I’m very happy with how as soon as we got through turn one and even the reaction in turn one I could have easily tried to be a hero and gone around outside of Max and that only would have caused a crash and I would have ended up taking George out so I think I was smart in doing that after turn two everything was very good even our strategy I know we got a lot of criticism on strategy but that’s from people who have no idea what they’re talking about so I’m very happy with probably 99.5% just a couple of meters off the line cost me last weekend there are just tiny little things I needed to tidy up and as a team we have to do a slightly better job he added but a lot of it was at the level that it needs to be so we could go on and win some races I definitely think that’s possible with how the team is performing how I’m performing so far how I’m perform thanks for watching the video see you in the next one

  1. Christian Horner indeed said those things in Austria, this is sick. On Dutch television it was clearly visible to Jos Verstappen what this has done to him, but believe me Max Verstappen has the last laugh. Christian Horner has the behavior of a losing and spoiled child. Yes Christian Horner shout and act, but in the end Redbull falls apart because of you

  2. Not sure about this.. Jos making a mess.. Giving up that drive due to Horner not being a fan is weird and unreasonable.. Definately showing absolute weakness from Jos and would not be suitable for a lead role in RB in my opinion..
