History begins again at Belle Meade for the 92nd Tennessee Women’s Amateur

The history of amateur golf at Belle Meade Country Club goes back over 120 years, but its next chapter begins today.

3-time U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur, 1991 Tennessee Women’s Amateur Champion, and Belle Meade Member Sarah Ingram understand what this championship means for everyone in the field.

This week’s victor becomes the 92nd Tennessee Women’s Amateur Champion and the first to receive an exemption into the 124th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship for their state championship victory.

you’d be hardpressed to tell the story of amateur golf in Tennessee without belme Country Club from the countless State and women’s amateurs that have been hosted here to the very first US senior amateur in 1955 but this year at the 92nd Tennessee Women’s Amateur things are a little bit different the stakes a little bit higher I think that’s a nice uh added bonus for winning your state amateurs to get to go directly to the US amateur you get to represent your state um in the special this is the first year the USGA has offered this opportunity and I think it um I can’t think of anything better I’m very proud of BME um for their support of women’s golf especially um hosting the Tennessee State women’s am here um after having the match play here last year and it’s a it’s a special wonderful great golf course it’s a great test of golf greens are great it’s in excellent condition so I think they’re going to have these players and the winter that’s going to get to go on to the US Women’s Amateur is going to be set up very well for um play in The Amateur the road to Southern Hills beginning today at belme Country Club at the 92nd Tennessee women’s amateur
