hey what’s up everybody this is Charles to banson and welcome you guys to another episode of The Dreamers Pro Show we’re cover thing from Sports Hot Topics classic debates to entertainment we give you guys a fresh perspective on things and I we see them today we got a hell of a show in store for you guys before we get into it uh please make sure you like the video and subscribe to the channel also we have a Sur we would love for you guys to fill out we have a pin in the comment section only take about 3 to five minutes and you have some opportunities to win some Amazon pretty cool Amazon gift cards anyway let me get into this topic um here so as you guys know we have officially reached the conclud usion of this NBA season um the finals are over and we have now crowned a new champion in the Boston Celtics as it turned out turns out I received you know the email that I think all of us receed from the NBA where basically Adam Silver said we just witnessed our what is it I think we haven’t had a back-to-back Champion since I think Miami I think Miami so we’re looking at what at least 12 years 14 years something like that it’s been a long time right but with that um now comes with the reflection of what ex what exactly took place and in today’s show I want to talk about two things number one I want to talk about the abysmal NBA Finals ratings and I also want to focus a little bit on um the horrendous coverage from ESPN uh throughout the finals because because ESPN was the was the network that covered the finals I first of all want to get into the the the ratings because um it’s something that really surprised uh that really surprised me and I want to read from a what is it this from awfulannouncing.com and it says Celtics Mavericks NBA finals in 2024 NBA uh playoff ratings slump for 2023 uh the 20 uh 24 NBA Finals marred by several blowouts will not go down as a classic the finals weren’t much to talk about in terms of ratings for ABC either Sports Media Watch reports they were the least watch finals since 2007 excluding the two covid uh the co error series the Boston Celtics 41 win Series win over the Dallas Mavericks averaged a 5.8 rating and 11.3 million viewers on ABC ESPN simoc cast game 3 that’s down 3% 3% in viewership from the 2023 NBA Finals featuring the Denver Nuggets in the Miami Heat on the 2000 only the 2020 2021 NBA Finals both impacted by Co featur lower ratings and this year’s finals was the least watched in 2007 when the San Antonio Spurs and Cleveland Cavaliers Series Drew 9 uh 3 million um viewers as a whole the 2024 playoffs were down significantly from 2023 according to according to sports Media Watch this year’s playoff average a 2.4 rating and 4.5 million viewers down down 11% and 12% per respectively from 2023 ESPN reported Tuesday the NBA Finals led the networks’s ratings for all five nights the series aired and and led all the key demographics in addition the the release reports this series boasted the highest share of audience ever uh ever in the key of in the key of 18 to 34 demographic and then it went on uh to say another thing and then it says wow uh it said NBA Finals game five which saw the Celtics claim a record 18 18th Championship averaged 12.2 million viewers and Peak with 13.8 million viewers while that’s impressive versus other programs it’s a 6.6 decline from game five of the 2023 NBA Finals the Nuggets win over the heat average a series of 13 um a series of a series High 13.8 million viewers on ABC and the most watch game five since 2019 so that’s what that article had to say uh there but there’s another aspect of this which is the coverage from ESPN um because a lot of people have been complaining about it and we want to read from a front office Sports uh article but before we even get into that today’s video is brought to you by sponsor prize piix which is the largest daily fantasy sports platform in North America prize piix is really simple instead of just selecting a team you just select two or more players pick more or less their projected stats and then you place your entry for example this week I’m selecting two entries Stephen Curry for more than 25 points and then I got Anthony Davis for more than two blocks and Damen Lillard for more for more than four three-pointers made price piix is also the only daily Sports platform with an injury insurance policy so for example if you have a player who gets injured in the first half and doesn’t return to the second half that player gets automatically rebooted what I also love about price picks is that offers weekly promotions like taco Tuesdays each Tuesday price picks discounts select player projections up to 25% to provide even more value so go to price.com clns and use code clns for a first deposit match up up to $100 that’s go to price.com clns use code clns for a first deposit match to of up to $100 and remember whenever you support support to sponsor you’re supporting this channel thank you so let’s get into what this report has to say here it has the headline ESPN’s Upson down NBA season ends with finals to forget as the as the major networks and streamers are fighting over multi-billion dollar NBA media rights the ESPN uh Colossus has wrapped up yet another finals the network is reportedly set to maintain its rights to air the finals through 2036 but the 204 series was marred by several veral noticeable hiccups throughout its final coverage some were minor like on Monday’s night announcer Mike Breen mistakenly identified a random woman in the crowd as Celtics player Drew holiday’s wife for which later he corrected and apologized the real Lauren holiday is as well is is a well-known and accomplished professional soccer player ESPN has drawn backlash for its adhey halftime show with about two total minutes of air time devoted to Studio crew um between uh extensive commercial breaks in game one and from the start of the finals there have been a lot of criticism about ESPN’s halftime show which is not really a halftime show it’s about 20 second long content uh nuggets positioned around commercials uh it’s like the popcorn shrimp of Studio shows the pregame show was also widely panned for its actual content covering topics from Dan hurly’s coaching decision to analyst Mike wil bonds Tim Hardway Jr needing to Step Up in game two in which he ended up not playing a single second all of this comes while the network is drawing some of its lowest finals viewership in years despite a slight increase in regular season viewership the Maverick’s one win of the series in game four was the least watch Finals game in the traditional June slot in 20077 according to sports Media Watch then the article then goes on to say a few other things ESPN’s lead NBA broadcast team has dealt with uncertainty all year the network fire jeffan Gundy who won a ring as a Celtic uh consultant and is headed to the Clippers as an assistant next season and Mark Jackson replacing them with Doris Burke and Doc Rivers but Rivers uh lasted only a few months taking over the Bucks coaching job in January he was replaced by JJ reick who may end up with a similarly a similarly brief tenure in his role if he takes over as the Lakers head coach so this what these articles had to say um number one the NBA just landed this new lucrative uh media deal that’s going to give them about $76 billion over the next 11 years 10 to 11 years and I just I I I still don’t know how they were able to Triple their revenue and have these and have these type of numbers in the finals I just don’t know now in the case of ESPN’s coverage of the finals I think they made a gross mistake letting go of Mark Jackson and Jeff and Gundy it was a gross mistake um and you’re seeing it now like let’s just be honest the crew that they have right now Mike Mike Breen uh Doris Burke and JJ reick they’re good but then I’m Mark Jackson and Jeff F Gundy like let’s just be honest for a second I think that was a blunder but now as the article um alluded Jeff and Gund is not going to be the lead assistant for the of what is it for the Los Angeles Clippers um and I think Mark Jackson is doing something else I think it’s with Cameron and Mason all of them so look um this is what people feel they feel like ESPN didn’t do a good job hopefully they take the criticism they listen to it and try to improve for the and try to improve for the coming finals that we have coming down the turnpike so these are my thoughts on this on this information here what I want to know from you guys what do you think about the NBA Finals rating what do you think about the coverage of the NBA finals from ESPN whatever you guys think please leave your thoughts and comments in the comment section and we catch you guys on the next show peace

  1. Too many announcers trying to get their 10 second quip. Plus, I have a problem with Stephen A. Smith being so confrontational. I like the guy, but his criticisms of the Joker were way off base.

  2. All the talk about the coverage of the NBA Finals is pointless. You should check the temperature of the room. I took it upon myself to ask strangers on the street if they were watching the NBA Finals. most of them said that they only watched the highlights after the games. I made a point of asking kids between the ages of 10 and 16 and most didn't have a favorite team or player. Nobody knows who won last years World Series. The Elephant in the room is football. Basketball, Baseball, Hockey are in serious trouble with TV rating no matter who broadcast their games.

  3. Player movement, load management, huge decline in college basketball players being recognizable stars before enterring the NBA, younger generations moving on to other forms of entertainment, have also contributed to big decline.

  4. I don't have the facts available to confirm this, but my first guess at a problem here would be game time. 8:30 Eastern is an unusual start time for an NBA game, requiring fans to change their habits to watch a series that just wasn't all that interesting. I'll watch good basketball even if I don't like the teams, but not if you're going to make it hard for me.

  5. They are anti EU and get every prediction wrong haha it was insane
You make so many errors, do you not proofread. Amateurisch

  6. At some point the players themselves gotta take the blame for turning in bad products. Take Luka for example, there’s no doubt about his immense talent but his game is hard to watch with the persistent flopping and whining to the refs. And yes that all star weekend has become shit, and that’s all on the players

  7. The start times has a lot to do with it as well. An 8:30 PM (ET) start means an 8:45 start and an 11-11:30 finish. Kids have school, most adults work, I know if its not my team I'm not staying up that late. I get the later start is to accomodate the west coast, but what happened to after noon games on weekends?

  8. Sports are entertainment for most fans. Allowing the entertainment platform to be hyjacked for political, racial, or social protesting is a good way to destroy the fan base. Go ahead, and tell me that I’m wrong, just be ready to see more significant loss of the fan base.

  9. Is it just me or watching Doris Burke and her funny and phony wannabe Marv Albert accent annoying to the point I had to shut off the volume. Give me grizzled vets like Van Gundy and Mark Jackson. These guys are so knowledgeable and experienced that I want to hear what they are saying. Going woke with women announcers just on the basis of gender is hard to watch and listen to. I want to watch but it pains me to turn on the TV knowing what's coming.

  10. It’s because of the ESPN model destroys sports conversation when Businesses pin money over everything. Espn model ruins sport talk and if It wasn’t for their monopoly on sports real people wouldn’t watch

  11. Nba is too woke. Lebron is terrible at bringing in fans. Nba was way better under Jordan and Kobe

  12. NBA is simply not that interesting-too many rule changes favoring offense. Throw ESPN in the mix and you see the results. I know many guys who will never watch ESPN on principle.

  13. Wait….so the NBA purposely steered the league in one direction alienating a decent chunk of their audience and people are confused why their ratings are down?

  14. the 2007 finals was a sweep but it wasnt that bad. The eastern and western conference finals that year were better than the actual finals.
this is because, we didnt know lebron choked that hard yet

  15. I hate the NBA and Silver. I really do not like the players, I hate their woke victim image. I hate the players flexing their egos to move anytime they want. Nobody around me ever talks about the NBA. I have Boycotted them for over 5 years. LeBron damage to the league is probably permanent. The NBA cares more about the CCP than they do American fans. The NBA is a Communist China Boot licking phonies.
