best series of the season with a three-game sweep of the orol and we’re underway on a Tuesday night next closest team is is the Chicago White Sox at 410 triy to hold up his swing he goes too far says Alex McKay the first base umpire and brown has a strike out of the first batter he faces little pop up on the in field and Mauricio Duan barely has to move and puts it away to Ryan McMahon 14th pitch of the inning and he grounds one to the right side where Jose altu has it and makes the play for the final out now tuve as usual going after the first pitch he’s ready To Go’s been go like gber like they did in Mexico Altuve on an 02 pitch hits one past Ezekiel toar into left field and the Astros have their lead off runner on here in the [Applause] first there goes out tuve and the pitch bounces away Altuve slides in and now he’ll stay at second base as Hunter Goodman tracks it down near the on Deck Circle Altuve picking up his team leading 11 stolen base of the Year 10 and now Altuve has 11 up the middle base headit Altuve around third here comes the throw by Doyle and it’ll be they cut off Al to B slides in safely it’s one- nothing Astros we talked about Alex swinging a hot bag first inning it just everything just blew up from there there’s a sharply hit base hit to right bregman gives it a look but he’s going to hold up as Sam hiler gets the ball back in three hits to start the game for the Astros now gner up the middle another base hit Here Comes bregman being waved around another chance for Doyle bregman safe it’s two nothing Astro over Boogie on it take a too big of a swing this one into center field yordon is going to tag up and try to go to third on Doyle do has had to make some competitive throws early in this game yordon will get there without an attempt as Jeremy is the first outties that he did last year Astros with only two lefties in the lineup but the righties are riking Jake Myers another base hit Astros lead this game three to nothing on the third RBI single of the inning talk to him again someday as duban golfs one into the left field it’s towards the line it’s not deep enough to be a home run say Cade will make the play and he will be out number two so the Astro is getting very aggressive to the back stop and no chance for Hunter Goodman to make a play on either Runner asro scoring three so far Chaz will make it five as he sends one to center field Jake Meers will cross the plate behind Yer Diaz five nothing [Applause] Astros there goes Chaz on the first pitch it’s up and in and the throw hits the mound the two Astros lefties in this lineup grounds this one to the right side it will be a five-run inning for the Astros in the first on the ground slowly hit towards bregman Alex will make the throw in time to get Rogers for the first out last pitch at 97 so he’s got some extra fuel in the tank when he feels he needs it well there’s the first walk all out by Brown not only in this game but in his last three starts Wing in a Miss wow Hunter Brown punching some tickets picks up his second strike out tonight that was 96 two outs and two strikes this ball sent into left field on the move L peredo still going towards the corner and he puts it away on the warning track for the final out of the Inning on the ground in the hole that’s going to be another base hit Altuve up to 97 hits on the year he’s two for two tonight takes a fast ball down the middle that’ll be a called third strike and Gober has his first strike out of the game but that would that would just expand his notoriety across the league if he went into a home run dirty this one’s popped up [Applause] foul cuz you start showing the easy power that he has he had an RBI single his first time up hits this ball on the ground to short flipped by to bar a second and that’ll do it for the Astros in the second had a good conversation with Spencer arti in you know getting ready for tomorrow he brought up an Hunter Brown and how much Hunters helped him because of all that he’s been through the tough start to his season and he’s trying to you know hang in there with a guy 20 and 21 oh yeah dot him up Hunter Hunter knew that pitch was a strike as soon as he let it go now here is Bretton Doyle Doyle put one in playoff Hunter Brown it goes to Altuve deflected by Hunter and that’ll do it for the Rockies in the third right here to finish out this home stand playing good baseball and they have been doing that he said there’s ton of excitement and the plan is to just keep playing the way they’ve been play been playing and then he said we worked our butts off to get to this point an issue in your bull pin and you’re trying to cover those many that many innings but they may be in a situation to where they may be looking for starting pitching Comber is kind of settled in here after that five run first 2022 as he Skies one into right field playable for Sam hilard gber has recovered after a tough start to retire the last six batters if anybody’s going to do it it’s going to be Jose al2 Tovar will have the first hit of the night for the Colorado Rockies not hit very hard but Ezekiel Tovar muscles one into left field for a leadoff hit here in the fourth McMahon ground one towards duban nice Shand pick short hop pick and he goes to Second the throw hits the netting which is going to be an error on Peña jery tried to get quick to turn a double play and his throw gets away tonight but there were ry’s pitching in that last series for Baltimore Peña can’t quite get there out of his reach that’ll go into center field and that’ll be the second hit of the inning for the Rockies again not hit hard maybe a broken bat for Rogers but first and third nonetheless pretty good hitter in Nolan Jones at 98 got him 97 following 98 Hunter Brown picks up a much needed strikeout to keep Runners on first and third hits this one into Center Jake Meers is there lines out to Center to end the inning settle you down out there for your starting pitcher and right now Austin’s made one deep right off the bat of McCormick hilard right at the wall is going to make the catch that was instant energy that night yep 3-2 pitch is a strike in the bottom of the zone now gber has one in each inning after a five run first 69 and 18 His Highest total since that mvp season here’s a broken bat that’ll go to Ryan McMahon for a one two three inning nine in a row sent down has been batting better as a lefty than a righty this season as he lines one to Alex bregman for the first out hit hard that makes up for a couple of broken bat hits last [Applause] inning got him that is five strikeouts for Hunter Brown he stays Primal 99 for Hunter for his fifth K pitch of 99 milph this season that one’s in the left field playable for Joey lero Hunter Brown in the second and since then he’s retired the last nine AK 10 in a row retired as this ball will be playable in foul territory as Michael toia puts it away that one’s hit on the ground to short Ezekiel Tovar position in the perfect spot and two more quick outs for gber here in the fifth Monday Jer goes down on strikes Austin gomber been perfect the last 12 batters he has faced home off day and then six in a row before the All-Star break swinging a Miss Hunter Brown continues to roll he’s got exactly one strike out an inning and six in the game is that good in those four starts and in the right hit pretty well but playable Taz McCormick is there Tovar who has one of the two hits for the Rockies retire for the second out now for Hunter Brown wow just in just missed inside that’s a walk right might get another inning McMahon on the go and the pitch is upstairs it’s one and two that shows paid very little attention to Ryan McMahon who picks up his second steal of the year and that’s going to be another walk he got a head 02 on McMahon couldn’t finish him away couldn’t finish him six out of seven now got him Hunter Brown six more shutout Innings as Hunter Brown but that is possible as Hunter is through six as Gober starts the six with another flyball to Center off the bat of Pion all three times Brenton Doyle has put the ball away on peña’s fly out to Center recover I think that’s a great Point here’s Jake Meyers Myers hits the ball sharply into right center field and that’ll snap the string of 13 in a row sent down by Austin gber Jake has his second hit of the night a double into Right Center the worst bull pin in the league k the next closest aren’t very close duban swings at the first pitch from Justin Lawrence and grounds out to third that’ll be the second out of the inning velocity has been outstanding he’s looked incredibly good toe bar smooth Short Stop will make that play for the final out of the inning BR baresque with these consecutive quality starts that’s a broken bat Taylor Scott will cover Mauricio dubon will take it to the bag himself he knocked Taylor out of the way not sure why he didn’t want to flip it there so unless you face the Astros or dive into what Hunter Brown has done this year nice pick by Altuve on the backand as he makes the play for out number two on Michael toia for the second out to the hole Jeremy Peña jump throw gets by duban and that’ll be a base hit where Mark Carlson is set up too you’d like to get that call instead pñ will take to the bag himself and just barely beats the sliding Hunter Goodman for the final out of the inning another shutout inning for Taylor Scott so fromo on the first pitch grounds to the right side also through the bag but he’s out number one here in the seventh using currently two to one to Milwaukee in the seventh picked by Ryan McMahon he’s having himself a nice defensive season as he takes a sharp ground ball don’t test me Bo Bo looks so disappointed that he got one on he went 0 and six TR to down here Gordon will chop this one to First toan pitched for the Rockies but not the Astros I’m being told so 1999 I got him it’s going to be a hit by pitch here to start the inning he’s an 07 yeah that had to be it swing and a miss Seth Martinez comes back after a hit by pitch and picks up a strike out of Ezekiel toar for the first out might go on a 3-2 pitch now he stays grounded to the left side oh miscommunication Peña could have made that play and he stopped going after it and that’s going to end up being a little in or a little hit through the infield Jeremy thought Alex was going to make the play and stopped little Looper and that’s going to be down for a hit that’ll score a run going first to third is McMahon it’s now a five to one game that one not hit hard by Rogers but he drives in his 26th run of the year on the ground Altuve to Peña and the return in time for the double play Ryan Presley dials up a huge double play to keep the runners off here’s Yer leading things off right back to the mound and that was caught by Molina that was a bullet off the bat of Yer and Molina catches it the second best record they’re trailing the Mets in the subway series P gets a very nice walk there after that two two pitch was called a ball on a 10 game suspension so the Astros will not see their closer Jak it’s got a third hit of the game Molina doesn’t even bother to throw it a little bud single for Jake B as he is three for four get back into the conversation I think they they’ve done it cize for the language Mauricio frustrated after not giving us many points and our pick the stick that’s the second out of the inning two RBI was first time up oh the Chaz Choppers have it going but Chaz is not going to come through this ball sent to center field and that’ll do it for the Astros in the eth teams are in Grand Slam territory generally goes with his high leverage guys and hater making quick work of Jak cave that to be the first out here in the ninth inning Michael tulo sends this one deep to left field it’s now a 5 to2 game toy on the first pitch he sees from ha puts one in the Crawford boxes at the back of the boxes she went into the Concourse level to make it 5-2 with home run number eight for [Applause] toia it’s his third home run as a right-and hitter old fashioned Ambush right there but he ambushed a fast ball that was in off the plate and he just opened up and cleared those hips enabling him to pull that ball didn’t have any save opportunities winning 124 and 8-2 and today not a save opportunity as haer picks up his second strike out of the inning two away in the ninth two outs nobody on and that’ll be a five pitch walk as Stallings the pinch hitter draws a walk here with two outs in the [Applause] N ball game six in a row for the Astros matching their longest winning streak of 2024 the Astros now move as close as they have been to Seattle in a month as they are now four and a half back of the Mariners in the American League West one are the Astros Rolling Along they are rolling along and you know what it seems to be the goal is to get to that 500 Mark and then kind of figure things out from there but they’re getting some help along the way with some losses around the League this month of June shaping up well as far as the schedule and some of these days off the Astros are taking advantage of it we’re seeing a very good team play very good team baseball right now getting good pitching timely hitting and getting good build Bullpen works so the Astros are in a good spot right now and that’s why they’re on this streak Astros get all their runs in the first inning tonight and Win It 5 to2

  1. 8-2 since cutting Abreu, 23-10 when he's not on the roster (meaning either when he was down in AAA or after he was cut). That can't be coincidence.

And there's no way it was just his production that was holding the team back. There just seemed to be this dark cloud hanging over the team, watching him just be absolutely broken. Now that he's gone, the spell just seems to be lifted. Crazy how one guy can affect a team like that….

  2. We are now just 4.5 games back of Seattle for the division. What an insane turnaround. I was holding out hope that maybe, MAYBE by August, if things went right, they could be where they are NOW, and be trying to make a run. Instead, there's a realistic scenario that could see us competing for the division by the ALLSTAR BREAK. That's insane. The offense is red hot, the bullpen has been so much better and a rotation that loses a starter every damn week it seems, just keeps rolling along.

  3. And Hunter Brown has 7 straight quality starts.

    Last 4?

    6 innings 0 runs
    7 innings 0 runs
    6 innings 1 run
    6 innings 0 runs

I dogged him multiple times early in the year that he's not a Starter, he's a reliever, not good enough to pitch 5-7 innings every 5th day. Making me look like a fool. Hats off to you, Hunter. Bringing that Gerrit Cole energy back to the mound for this team.

  4. That 8th inning was such a perfect illustration of how things were so bad in April and early May, and have been so much better since. Martinez has an off night, the Rockies trying to get back in the game, 1st and 3rd just one out, and Pressly falls behind 3-1 coming in trying to pick up Seth. Early in the year we would almost inevitably see that inning have the wheels come flying off, and be tied by the time they got out of it. Instead Pressly makes a great pitch, DP ends the threat. Hader gave up the 1 run, and it's obviously concerning he's not been his best, but he's 11 of 12 in save opportunities and that does count for something.

  5. I hate to beat someone when he's down (or out,) but the Astros seemed to all-of-a-sudden play a whole lot better since letting Jose Abreu go. Matter of fact, they started to play just like before Abreu came back from the minors and played everyday.

  6. Hunter hitting 99 is a very good sign. And in the 5th. Using that 4-seamer very effectively tonight, even if he got a bit wild at times. I think it worked in his favor. And getting out of the 6th with 2 runners on. Confidence building.

    Great win.
