[Music] [Music] [Applause] hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to final round Back N coverage of the mo lead card here in Emporia Kansas for the 2024 Dynamic Discs open Paul ulry Jeremy calling big berry commentary bringing you the action here on the seventh off of the dis golf pro tour and what was the story of the front nightball well Calvin went on a heater um took control of the tournament if it wasn’t for Ricky making a lot of really nice putts yeah uh he would be way back all of the sudden so this back n he’s going to be playing catchup you see him three Strokes back uh Jo J Anderson through 15 he’s 10 under he’s on a little heater of course record’s 11 under he on Pace and he is on Pace he’s got three to go 16 17 and 18 we are on to whole 10 this is a a birdie hole whole 10 is you want to get past this tree right here make your way just somewhere down this down slope just give yourself any look whatsoever you should be able to navigate a good look for the birdie there is Obie on that left side way right you shouldn’t find that one but the Obie that does come into play is near the basket by that sidewalk most of the players playing the Hiser play down to the bottom of the hill we have seen some forand turnovers genon didn’t quite make it to the bottom of the hill but sets himself up in a good spot and once again he’s going to continue that birdie streak and it’s going to bring it to six holes saw some shaky putting from him few tournaments ago just didn’t seem like Ganon bur’s putting but he still managed a good finish because he throws it just so accurate right now he is putting lights out here in the final round wasn’t sure what exactly happened there it’s a good shot it’s down to the bottom of the hill it’s behind the the row of those four trees gav puts a little towel down trying to go with the low highs or this looks great and through the gap makes it easy doesn’t it certainly should Ricky going forehand turnover and man I really like this out of his hand and I look like he just got a tiny wind shear that pushed it down that being said still in the middle of the Gap we’ll have a look at it but it’s just from farther away Ezra catches the guardian [Applause] still birdless man just love to see him get on the board if he can avoid this tree on the green oh yeah oh yeah I think he’s done it yeah I think uh first Bird’s finally coming here on whole 10 took a [Laughter] while now this is just got to get to the ground quickly uh oh it holds up love the shape of this in that spot you just don’t see Calvin messing it up no it’s really don’t I don’t think we’d see very many people in this field mess that up very very very close same as this drive although this is coming up a little bit short right and now it’s pin high right [Applause] every one of these from this point on is going to be a must make for Ricky every single part of the basket minus the chains I have never seen one go in like that I wish we could see that again maybe in the cut screen between holes we’ll see if they chose that one that one was unique I’ve never seen one go in that did didn’t hit a chain especially that’s high and it didn’t like jiggle on the on the rim it went straight in it knew its purpose and it went in the basket Ricky willed that one in there okay they chose this shot [Music] okay Calvin still holding on to a three shot lead eight holes to go 8 through 10 see if this course can throw something at him whole 11 might be that whole par three 395 up the hill left right crosswind and the fly over I think it’s just actually a right to left Tailwind from their perspective from the T yeah just throw your straightest shot as far as you can well actually not with these guys throw your Eagle as far as yeah throw your phro driver just straight it is a left or right okay so it’s a helping win for this one gav just sco that one up this place right now how about that shape okay right into the circle about 28 ft Ricky’s had this hole’s number man he has hardly had to make a putt in the first two rounds again not going to have to really make a putt I don’t think yeah it looked like it was heading to Park City Utah but it ended up just short over there in Ogden needs a good reaction that’s not it but it’s not out of Mounds as well correct steps into it trying to make one from nearly 100 ft wow not a doubt that is a smooth little putter stroke right there on the stripe not a single doubt about that one in that situation Ricky would have rather been maybe a foot outside of Calvin knock one down oh 100% yeah put a little pressure on I don’t really know if there’s much you can do a competitor in the field to try to get in Calvin’s head it little things like that though I’m sure help yeah yeah perhaps he just seems so unfazed by everything around him well here we are we got Joey buckets on the tea and what how is that in bounds left side those always find OB on the Tailwind side too that’s a hard place to find give it to that does not look like somebody who’s worried about the results of running that putt what a birdie and the streak continues on the back nine and that’s going to bring Joseph to 11 under now [Music] that might be the longest putt we’ve seen made on whole 16 all week I don’t know go check out that fpo coverage you’re going to see something nice whole 12 Par 3 404 what do you think German sidearms here or backhand Beamers the the the key here with the right to left crosswind is trust your forehand high and wide and let the wind push you down we saw Ricky find the OB on the right side by not trusting the width see if he is able to make the adjustment today this this is not wide enough it’s got to start out it just has to start out over the sidewalk if you don’t and you throw it low like that you’re going to get that skip more often than not and so the big birdy run that Gavin’s been on is going to come to an end here more than likely bogey saying sit down mid-range how does he just throw a fluffy pillow 404t on a line it’s a spin just a a zipline from T to Green this is the width this is what you’re looking for very good I was just thinking of a pillow go going like super spinny and then imagine it like falling apart and Feathers going everywhere that’s what happened that’s what’s so impressive about discs they don’t just shatter they just keep spinning [Music] mm I like this yeah L to like almost hitting the bucket got his angle figured out mhm and nothing else to do from that spot for Gavin okay two out of three little high Y they’re catching high today yeah we we’ve seen a lot going up there top shelf Calvin for three in a row you’re being silly Calvin it’s tur into something special cuz eight and nine come on are tough man part you’re you’re walking away with Strokes with pars Ricky Ricky man he’s right there not allowing Calvin to run away and that right there keeping him close is so important knowing how brutal that s 16 17 18 stretch can be two-stroke swings on all of those holes [Music] and you press now look at [Music] that you have to understand how things are up here on the whole 13 potentially scary left to right crosswind as we going as we go up hill over Hazard all the way to these flags right here the rest of the way it is in Balance there is an OB line denoted on the right side of your screen there on the overhead map of the hole 456 ft got to throw it like it’s 480 [Applause] uhoh uhoh is [Applause] right and that is in the hazard big moment here for Rick absolutely huge opportunity right now door open no no way follow thy leader just he’s birded this whole first two rounds and then just in that moment unable to tap into that clutch Gene that we’re so accustomed to seeing from Ricky yeah you just don’t see that with it never ever ever that just barely gets out of the hazard kind of a good moment here for Gavin to get to on both of them and just losing Two Strokes on the last hole Yeah right in the circle such a good [Applause] throw Calvin is actually so close to the ob line on the right side that even though he was in Hazard he was able to give himself a meter of relief oh no and uh he’d be relieved if he made that bogey putt coming up going about 28 ft deep maybe we’ll see Gavin up first with this birdie look yes indeed oh man starting it out on the right side with a little bit of Hiser if that just activated and swung into the middle that would have been a nice bounce back birdie out here shooting layups right now I mean if there was a door that was open that was the one coming down the stretch you got 16 17 18 of course but getting to right there was the moment that was the moment to turn this 100% yeah turn this around and Ricky knows it that’s a huge opportunity right there he squandered and I I can’t even imagine that he would have thought that he would have had an opportunity on 13 this was not one of the holes that you mark as a two-stroke swing but it certainly can be if you pull your shot [Music] right Joseph Anderson has jumped up and now he is tied for Ricky in second place he has finished with his round and he went on to birdie 17 and 18 to shoot course record for the moment 13 under and with Calvin taking his first bogey the round right there on 13 it’ll be difficult for anyone to touch that 13 under Mark hats off to him jumping from 17th Place all the way up the leaderboard not quite sure where he he’ll finish for the day but an outstanding performance we saw this whole eagled by three players in round two but it wasn’t a headwind is that what the players are throwing into today a little crosswind actually little cross yeah little right to left right to left left right left to right okay left to right’s a little bit more diff kind of a helping wind honestly for the back end okay Gavin he’s going roller the Upper 90 corner of the Gap and Paul this is this is how he got it this is fantastic it’s still going baby wow nearly throws it into Chase card’s group you see Ganon turn around and just is that a [Applause] drive that was phenomenal that’s inside 400 ft oh yeah he might even have a little two-piece into the green I think that might be like 375 I think that was a 600t roller oh don’t cut roll Calvin well it didn’t stand up so that’s good and it and that’s fine from there there’s nothing wrong with that spot easy spot to just get to the bottom of Hill get the bottom of the hill and that’s all he’s really trying to do in two anyways even if that gets the full distance I maybe he’s going for the eagle if it’s clean but look at this Ricky why do you do that Ricky knows at this point trailing by three he’s got to do something special and something special in this hole is Eagle and I know he wasn’t trying to throw roller or thrower there but look at that he’s right next to Calvin he’s just following what Calvin does well he’s going to want to follow what Calvin does right here too then CU that’s [Applause] perfect he’s going to follow his own footsteps go forehand but essentially the LIE will be about the same just a little bit shorter than [Applause] Calvin okay does that stay in it does good little break yep there’s a green flag confirmation okay Gavin going back in oh and he pulls us off to the right side but it stays in bounds and I mean that’s in 85 foot territory it’s a green light go yeah you could tell he was afraid of that green on the left there really tough win to shape that shot sit down or go all right yeah a little little go but that’s fine all right Calvin last year had some problems with this hole that’s right yeah see if that is right yeah put those thoughts to sleep throw a nice little upshot oh yeah oh well well well now that’ll be a easy birie for Ezra and this is what Gavin has left for the third etish Big Time stroke right here left side and [Applause] in now this is a big putt for Ricky woo over the rim and in there were three eagles on the day Colton Montgomery made a nice putt from nearly 50 feet Anthony Bella he got it done in three shots just like he did in the round before but the round before added a little OB stroke and Paul MC Beth who also eagled it yesterday birded it first day went five under on whole 14 Calvin still holding on to a three shot lead with just four holes to go all 15 this stage this plays like a must get birdie for Ricky Waki and if you birdie this in your Calvin heimberg you’re feeling really good with that three shot buffer going into the final three holes being said anything can still happen very good nice to see Ezra putting some nice birdies together here on the back nine little flat this thing is cooked yeah look at this thing that nearly goes out of bounds long you don’t want it to be flat on a day like today you need it high with Heiser soon as it gets flat these guys have too much power thing’s gone there oh poor Buck it no kidding oh my goodness really kidding that was so close to absolutely annihilating that thing I mean a mere mere two or three inches maybe how did he miss metal oh it’s just try Slow Down slow down slow down oh my gosh wowa that would have spit out anyways well we’re getting all excited about it just would have blown up and popped out might have spit out twice hit so hard came out went back in spit out again perhaps one skip yeah Ricky is uh that’s about his average putt length on this hole this [Applause] week very well shaped very well thrown Gavin with the 50 Foot comebacker and leaning out to the left you don’t expect to miss right but that is what Gavin did leaning a bit with this one it looks like perfect seems like he’s trying to slam that door well to this point he hasn’t missed the putt that he’s attempted if he’s attempted a putt it has has gone in pretty cool yeah I mean he the stats will show that he missed a C2 putt on whole nine but he was laying [Applause] up pretty cool pretty cool nothing cooler than that watching nice putts go in especially Calvin though when Calvin’s putting we just always say it but nobody really cares about if you throw it like 11 ft away people will clap in the moment but when you tap out like they’re like oh okay but when you throw it to like 28 ft long after you just almost aced it and then you make the putt that’s the most Applause you can get combined for a hold so that’s the coolest way to get a birdie for sure well this is the hole that is the most critical L 16 just got to land on the island I think you’re feeling really good if you’re Calvin heinberg and you stick this one have to if you leak this one one stroke yep and Isaac can just turn around and walk away and hope that somebody I’m sorry Isaac I said Isaac I meant to say a Robinson brother he knew that one was out of bounds the moment it left his hand all right shout out of the tournament right here Calvin Calvin going midrange okay I thought that was a Tor at first okay this is a a rock oh no oh boy it’s a bit High installed catch the wood I guess you bugger I don’t I still haven’t quite figured out how in that angle how it doesn’t slide left a little bit it actually fullon pulled back to the right side and this has got to be on the island better yet it’s got to be in the basket sit dude unbeliev such a bad break and that’s why that Wall’s there it does come in a little bit hot yeah you hate to see that it doesn’t matter yeah no it should stay hot it should stay 100% Gavin uh a very well thrown shot and just a reminder folks if you’re a major disc golf manufacturer Gavin wrath buun does not have a disc manufacturer sponsor right now uh he seems to be enjoying that with the way he’s been playing this season but uh yeah he’s going over there showing some love to the Mingos he wore the Mingo shirt yesterday this will be the first real putt I’ve seen somebody try to make it that’s a great effort we did see Parker in round one try to make it and he threw his disc over there by DD sign um Ricky doesn’t want any part to do with that one and so now Calvin can just basically play for par now and feel pretty good about his chances of winning yeah you think that Ricky laid up hoping that maybe he goes for it I guess you know what I mean like Calvin why are you running this okay now he’s officially missed a putt but it stays in bounds but out Ricky lays up please tell me why that happened if Ricky lays up if Ricky goes for it and misses and takes a five Calvin for sure lays it up but if Ricky just lays it up he’s like okay you’re taking a four I can Freer run this cuz the worst I get is a four oh okay right you get what I mean sure I mean if he’s not checking in with what’s going on on Chase Card uh then that that makes sense but I think if he’s aware of what’s going on Gan B’s out there shooting a good round right now and he was only three back of Ricky two back of Calvin to start you know Calvin knows that he’s playing a great round but look at that gon Burr right now it’s four shots okay he’s more transparent I mean here but you don’t want you hear what I’m saying though there’s might be a little something there yeah yeah sure I just that surprised me in the moment if Ricky airballs it into the water takes five what do you think Calvin does I think he lays it up okay that’s all I’m saying oh no maybe he run I don’t know I don’t I don’t know now it’s not making as much sense I don’t have Calvin brain or Calvin arm I I I can’t compute any of these things but he runs it hits cage low stays in bounds now he looks like a genius he’s always looked like a genius this round well if Ganon B goes birdie eagle and Calvin goes par par Calvin still wins but if Canon goes birdie eagle and Calvin has a slip up then then we have some interesting drama big high forehand play how close does this get Ganon range yeah somewhere in Ganon in range that is smacky the Frog right in the middle how many of those has he made this round four is that fourth everyone he’s tried they make them different these days I’ll tell you that M new packaging the upgrades they have are are kind of crazy and they’ve gotten rid of the MSG which is really surprising mhm I don’t know what that means I’m sorry I think I lost the analogy Gavin a bit high oh Calvin that drops straight down fortunately that could have found Obi left still in the Fairway but I don’t know 490 from the pin or so oh yeah that’s the shape you’re looking for mhm that’s the Honey Spot this is good yeah that tree does not help so it’s not the day Ricky Waki thought it would be not the day we thought it would be not the day we thought it would be it’s getting down the fairways Gavin he a good shot why is he looking right gold for it why is he looking to the right side Paul what business does Calvin have going for the shot it’s his shot though low ceiling in the world is Calvin doing get a putt why would you go that over OB I think it’s just too easy for him yeah I yep I would be the worst caddy in the world for Calvin in this moment I would just be annoying him I’d be like dude hey like come on hey what are you doing come on I’m going to snap my fingers like hey wake up don’t be dumb and then I would be wrong yeah remember when I said if he made it or missed it Calvin was running that putt no matter what I guess so yeah maybe he’s looking at different things maybe he’s like yeah Joe Joey what Joe Anderson shot what 13 under okay I think I can still get to 14 good shot there not as good as he wanted could put that one a little closer all right Ricky is tied for second so these oh right online that would have been an incredible par save this would just be a stupid birdie D I’m disgusted that is greedy that is just pure filthy greedy I think it’s more of a statement yeah it’s that too it’s part it maybe mostly that I mean it’s just like now he’s just toying with he’s like a cat who’s caught a mouse and then lets him go and then catches him and can exactly and look at that that’s another birdie for Ezra in this back nine and a good par Scramble for Gavin who is currently tied for fourth [Music] place Calvin six on the card only four over genon but really Calvin just needs to get his t- shot safe on the 18th year and he will claim the title that he lost to Parker wel last year going to the final round with the lead just like Ricky has done today Parker pulled off the miraculous the more unprecedented wins we’ve seen in quite some time the Calvin just seems fitting that he would be on the Winter Circle again his incredible 2023 season just quite net as many wins as we all felt like he deserved to take take down and on top of that he’s the highest rated player in the tournament which doesn’t really mean much to some people no just means he’s really good yep coming in here with a 1050 rating genon looking to Birdie the last six holes o leaking not [Applause] great but what has been great for Ganon today has been this part automatic mode so that’s going to lock up at least second place for Ganon and it makes sure that Calvin has to stay awake at least stay awake for this hole and you’re going to be the winner and that drive is bombed and safe what a round for Calvin currently at 12 under Ezra overturned this is going to find out of bounds area he’s going to want that to float yeah he he leans on that disc heavily gav getting a little shape out of that that’ll be inbounds in the left [Applause] side Ricky God I think he’s trying to get in position for the eagle yeah I mean what does that do for him at this stage gets the aggression out Fair currently tied for third I’m sure he’d like to take solo Podium if he’s even thinking about that at all in this moment hard to tell I was looking at it Ganon five for eight from Circle two five for eight okay okay so Ezra has clear path and we saw something like this yesterday from a little bit farther up the hill and he’s sending 480 he sends the green accepts wow awesome shot absolutely awesome and if you do not land in bounds you don’t have even if you cross in bounds but you go out of bounds you have to play from your previous lie yes so that shot is risking a bunch there also to note with an eagle on 18 Ezra would have tied his brother Isaac so I think there might have been something there if he was looking at scores Ricky not interested in going for the eagle just plays safely to the top of the hill as does Calvin Co it went out there by where he made that nice putt yesterday to finish his round but still out there 32 feet away Gavin would love to put this one close and seal the deal that is a guaranteed podium for Gavin wrath buun with that tap in birdie coming I just love seeing him come back after the double bogey on one and really put down an incredible round of disc golf what does that put him to believe that is going to get him to eight under for the round with three over Parr so 11 birdies on the day incredible five toal L that up yes and so he will not tie course record at 13 well maybe he will maybe he goes for it who knows at this point man he’s just okay what a day the glass blown trophy is yours and uh oh boy yeah that is gonna fall Ricky down to fifth place brutal brutal finish form him bogey bogey Bogey and z m in the background throwing his hands up in appreciation a solid back nine for Ezra salvaging a decent finish TI for 11th i’ have no idea how many spots he jumped up in that back nine but he was down there yeah after being four over on the front and congratulations to Gavin Rathbun but the week is yours Calvin heberg it’s been over a year since he’s won a disc golf pro Tour event ladies and gentlemen your 2024 Dynamic this open Champion Calvin heberg there is that coveted trophy congratulations Calvin it’s been a while since I’ve you know finished on top so it’s a great feeling I’ve come close here a couple times never quite pulled off the wind but it’s it’s great to finally win one out here today was honestly the best my putts felt and I don’t know it’s been like a month I think that was really the key for me today was I was making putts and it took a lot less uh pressure off me when I was throwing off the and I was able to play really [Music] free honestly deviated from my game plan there on 17 went throwing Fairway driver instead of distance driver and it was one of my worst shots of the day so just decided to put the pedal back back down you know for the next shot and turned you know not great t- shot into a birdie got to thank my friends for you know always you know keeping me in a positive mindset you know without then this would be a much bigger grind than it actually you know [Music] is well that will do it here in Emporia for the 2024 edition of the Dynamic Discs open Calvin heimberg just just off to a special start right from the beginning it kept it going the whole day G and bir from Chase card putting the pressure on coming up short just by three shots but 11 under but and look at that Joseph Anderson 13 under man what a season that young man is having Chris Dickerson also another top 10 finish he is just consistently in the mix but the another story right there Anthony Bella breaks his all season long top 10 streak with a 14th Place finish obviously a very difficult round two for him but still salvaging the top 20 it’s going to do it for us Paul yeah that was awesome I mean watching Calvin just get off to that start seven straight mhm start the round really set the tone for what he was what he was doing you heard him say as soon as his putter got hot made everything kind of easy it’s over and that’s just what Calvin does when he makes putts he always has a lot of them well it’s going to do it for us here in Kansas the next time you’ll see the Jos team
