#euro2024

it’s half 11 back in the UK it is uh 12:30 here in dorf Germany as we continue our coverage of the Euros this is day 14 of the Euros but it’s known as rout tag in fact the next couple of days are rout tag days what are they they’re rest days although England aren’t resting and none of the other nations who have made it now to the last 16 I’m sure will be resting either because England are out in the training pitch at the moment in Germany Alex krook Simon alongside me Faker RS Sports England correspondent is casting an eye over the England training session for us now F hi to you what have you got apart from Phil for who’s back home and we know why uh everybody else present in correct no uh they’re not Dean rice and Kieran trippier are both uh following individual programs inside so they’re not out trining with the 23 players that are Luke Shaw is out there again hoping to be fit of course for the last 16 against Slovakia on Sunday we’ve told it it’s purely just a a load management reason that Kieran tripier and Dean rice are training away from the rest of the team uh but we’ll keep an eye on that training’s closed tomorrow so we won’t know that until Match Day minus one do you have any news for his fee as to when foran will be back in Germany no not yet uh we haven’t had any kind of clarification as to whether his partner has had their third child yet or not and what that means for for when Phil foden will be back and and whether or not he will be available for selection ahead of the last 16 match so we’re just waiting to see obviously these things uh can take a bit of time um and you know obviously the health of uh his partner and and the baby are the most important thing and then we have to see when Phil would be able to come back whether he’s had enough training whether in terms of the Tactical side of the game he’ll have uh he he’ll have been able to to to do what the rest of the players have done or not and whether or not he’ll be able to uh to take part in that game at all F Luke Shaw was asked by our newspaper colleagues after the game against Slovenia when when will you be back and he said next match you mentioned he is training there with the rest of the squad is there any suggestion at this early stage that he could be thrown straight into the starting 11 to try and get that balance on the left hand side that England have lacked potentially um equally I could see him coming on as a substitute for the last 20 minutes depending on how the game is is going he certainly looked a lot more comfortable than he did in the early stages of our time out here in Germany to be honest he uh when I’d seen him after the the game in Frankfurt against Denmark he still looked really uncomfortable when he was walking around still followed an individual training session um training program after that but on Monday uh he was back on grass with the team um he got changed with them he was out there warming up with them on the pitch for the third game um that we went to in Cologne um and then he’s been back out on the pitch again now so you know he’s starting to to improve I think the the concern obviously as happened when he was at Manchester United is that he goes backwards and has a lapse like he did before with the hamstring injury he’s been out for four months now so you know they’ll be monitoring him really carefully and and seeing how much football he could potentially play but as you say it’s it’s really crucial that he comes back into the side for that balance um they did overload on the left hand side in the game um against Slovenia the other night and and it was quite you know the attacks were were were brilliant I thought um at times on the left hand side uh but Luke Shaw would change that whole dynamic and would be able to use the right at the same time rather than having to overload a lot of bodies onto the left hand side which we’re having to do at the moment in order to bring attacks from there what’s it like where you are Fe we we’ve got 29 degrees here in dor we expected the heat but not like this well we did have this morning it was absolutely scorching when we sat outside for for breakfast but as we’ve come into blankenheim which is about a a half an hour drive away from where we’re staying in ffor it got very very dark overhead and we heard some thunderstorms and we were quite concerned we might get a little bit wet during uh uh during this broadcast but so far it stayed off it’s muggy I would say maybe around about 25 degrees in a breeze so actually quite pleasant when you’re standing here as long as it doesn’t rain okay Fe thank you very much indeed muggy where Fe is I often say murky back home in London back home in the UK and that’s a word you’ve come to like I believe Simon murky indeed it’s interesting isn’t it about Luke Shaw because is it really realistic in this in this Relentless pursuit to get balance into the side to bring a player into the tournament the deeper we go with more opposition that are going to be more compelling uh with a player that hasn’t kicked a ball for four months a good risk and and also if you look at Luke shaen he’s had a lot of injury problems it’s 10 years today since he join Manchester United by the way but I think he averages 18 games a season for United over that 10year period right he’s a player who takes a while when he’s been injured to get up to full match speed so I do think it would be a massive gamble okay as fa said players out training but Dean rice Kean trippier uh on individual programs this morning Phil foron still back in the UK in the meantime it’s time for this it’s showtime on toport with B mgx get ready for the golden era in sports betting visit B mg.co.za it was some into the group stages last night wasn’t it um Belgium getting boed off the park C republic versus Turkey having 30 shots three goals 18 yellows Two Reds then one of the biggest Euros upsets with Georgia beating Portugal is a 7 to1 shot and that last one obviously means England in the end of playing Slovakia in the last 16 and not the Netherlands as we expected yesterday um the market says that’s actually the most one-sided tie in the last 16 despite England’s underwhelming attacking performances so far they’re 21 to 50 with Slovakia 8 and 1 half to one H just to highlight a couple of other ties as well Jim um it all starts with Switzerland versus Italy on Saturday which is one of the closer matches when it comes to the odds with Italy 6 to4 and Switzerland two and a half to two and a half to 1 to win however what Switzerland showed against Hungary and Germany versus what Italy have shown in all three games might make that sell price a decent proposition actually and otherwise Germany have shown slight fragility at the back not so much against Scotland though unfortunately um and Denmark to beat them at just over 5 to one might be decent value for some well like England France have been struggling an attack in F Belgium who they haven’t lost to competitively since 1981 H but the and the French are under even money to win that one but you never know what kind of Siege mentality could develop with the belgians after last night H they’re almost 4 to1 to win but before we finish on the football of any of you get a dark horse you fancy from the teams in the last 16 at all guys what do you think Alex I mean I would have to suggest Austria might be one of those dark horses I agree and I think I think there could be a dark horse in the final obviously it goes against what we’re saying about England but it just has Echoes to me of the checks in 96 Denmark in ’92 Greece in ‘ 04 I think one of those lesser Nations that have impressed us so far might well end up in the final I think Austria best equipped to do it what do you think Simon you got a dark horse for us no I think it’s a think possibility it be a Spain England final okay fair play uh AJ against Dubois what have you got we’ll talk about this shortly uh over here in dorf but as far the betting is concerned with B MGM what you what did you offer us this morning Johan yeah Anthony Joshua versus Daniel du confirmed yesterday for September 21st at Wembley as expected and it’s now an ibf World title fight which also means yusk Fury 2 is not for Undisputed uh we have Joshua the heavy favorite at 6 to1 on with dubba out at almost 4 to1 and 18s for the draws now Simon I’m not going to ask for a method of Victor or anything like that we can save that for theer fight night but what I’m interested in and I had this debate with a friend of mine yesterday is um is what you make of this in terms of the heavyweight division in general over the next six months to a year cuz much was made of Eddie H’s reported map that sees AJ fighting for Undisputed in April or May next year but how feasible is that really when you factor in youc Fury 2 and what could happen there as well Jim White and Simon Jordan Monday to Friday mornings from 10 on am on da via the talk sport app and on your smart speaker talk sport

  1. Faye Carruthers is here… Hold on a minute.. If Faye Carruthers is here.. then who’s scaring the crows away from all our crops!???

  2. Ive never understood the luke shaw praise the last 10 years. Guy is good but acting like the entire balance/fate of the team depends on whether luke shaw plays or not is ridiculous

  3. Foden didnt go home to see his baby born. He went home so he can avoid the embarrassment of going out nxt round.

  4. Finally talksport have gone to the thrash bringing a gambling segment. Mighty disappointed that I must move away from this show that I loved 😢

  5. If Foden has just given birth I doubt he’ll be fit for Sunday ,couldn’t tell he was expecting but a few more played like they were

  6. 7/1 for Georgia to beat Portugal is an absolute con, should be 5000/1 the betting companies are taking the Mickey Mouse

  7. Phil Foden should think himself lucky that Fabio Capello isn't still the manager. Capello really did not take kindly to England players asking to disappear even for a a few hours to meet the wife and newborn children whilst players were on international duty.

  8. It is again outrageous to have the thought to pick a player who has been injured most of the season for a must win tournament for England. Forget the past 10 years for Luke Shaw. He shouldn't have been in contention for the Euro 2024.

  9. Luke Shaw in Branthwaite are only fit left sided defender rejected and sent home .no logic to that decision by Southgate, absolutely ridiculous.

  10. I'd rather have the following players with a decent manager, than the current team with Southgate
    Pope
    White Tomori Branthwaite Chilwell
    Jones Gibbs-White Grealish
    Maddison
    Solanke Rashford

  11. It’s almost like they could’ve used a Ben Chilwell. Guess he wasn’t a natural replacement just like any of the midfielders he selected in lieu of Kalvin Phillips.

  12. The idiot should of took chilwell he isnt the best player but his left footed and his a defender, we need a left back who will overlap foden and doesnt need to cut in every single time, it was obvious shaw wouldnt be fit. Southgate is a joke whether we win it or not i still want him gone after this euros

  13. Taking Shaw shows how amateur Southgate is
    Shaw isn't a keegan or a shearer
We have other left backs and Southgate wasn't tried them in friendlies
Proving he is useless at his job and he'll never get a top Premier job

  14. We were led to believe that Shaw was selected because he had a good chance of playing some minutes in the group stages of the tournament. This is clearly not the case and for it to be suggested that he is available to play some part in the knock outs is ludicrous.
Shaw is obviously unfit to play after 4 months out and should be sent home to get fit for Man utd next season.
Southgate has some serious questions to answer after the euros has finished about his squad selection, particually down the left hand side.

  15. like many have said to just take one left sided defender who is injured. And we all know there are other players he will never give game time. The young midfielder from Palace is one I would be shocked if Southgate gave any game time to in the remaining match or two if we are lucky enough to make the quarter finals. It’s a miracle he found a bit of a spine to play Gordon for 5 minutes in the last match. It’s also a safe bet that Ivan Toney won’t get a full 90minutes before England exit the tournament.

  16. Luke shaw should be no where near the England team! Not played for months and injured… He will be rushed back and injured again within minutes.
