15-Year-Old Miles Russell To Make PGA Tour Debut After Accomplishing Something Only Tiger Woods Had

Age is nothing but a number to Miles Russell.

The 15-year-old will compete in his first PGA Tour event starting June 27 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club in Michigan.

Russell became the youngest player to ever make the cut on the Korn Ferry Tour at the LECOM Suncoast Classic in April, and the youngest to finish in the Top 20 on either the Korn Ferry or the PGA Tour since they started keeping records in 1983.

Miles took the record from Gipper Finau, the younger brother of PGA Tour golfer Tony Finau, who made his first Korn Ferry cut at 16 years old.

China’s Guan Tianlang holds the PGA Tour record after he made the cut at the Masters in 2013 when he was just 14.

Miles was invited to Rocket Mortgage as one of four sponsor’s exemptions for the event.

Russell, a rising sophomore from Jacksonville, Florida, won the Junior PGA Championship in 2023 by seven shots and won the American Junior Golf Association’s Player of the Year, the second to win at 15 years old next to Tiger Woods.

The young golfer was also extended a sponsor’s exemption to play in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship in November.
