what’s up everybody Ben here for stochastic talking all things PJ rocket mortgage classic we are going to break down the field the course the picks the projections whatever we need to do to hopefully give us a chance to take down some serious serious money it’s not a it’s not a major but it’s a full field a lot of guys to get to and a lot of money to be made out there I want to welcome you into all things DFS at stochastic the tools the process hopefully uh the breakdowns if you like what you see on this channel be part of this community think about joining the team we’d love to have you out let’s dive into the golf so we are in Detroit we’ve seen this course a many of times it is easy it is par five Centric you can be very aggressive with the driver Ricky Fowler is a pass Champion uh I don’t know why I really mentioned that but shout out to Ricky he’s in this field as well I’m not going to bore you really with anything uh you know certainly recent form I don’t think we need to talk about in the sense that the last couple weeks have been majors and elevated events and most of those guys are not here you just look at the salaries on the screen right now you’ve got Tom Kim cam young leading us off there’s not a lot of that I think it’s more important you know in terms of the course breakdown what do you want to do you want to score birdies are better certainly driving distance if you want some bomber Stacks I get it don’t think you need to be a bomber but it certainly helps par five scoring is something that I looked at quite a bit uh you got to be able to roll it you’re going to need to make probably 20 plus birdies to take this down it’s as simple as that I’m not really looking at like sand saves or around the green much it’s either crush it with your driver and roll in your putts gain off the te moderately without distance and crush your short irons and mid-range irons that’s also effective you have to do one of those two things here it it’s pretty simple breakdown it’s more the field is fascinating honestly let’s just get into it let’s get into the field right now let’s get into the top tier and start talking about players because we got a lot to get to uh we’re going to lean on the tools it’s early early on Wednesday the ownership the optimal percentage everything in the data hub’s going to be updated not to worry this is just a prelim look and I think we can use it as a cursory look as we dive into these players with Tom Kim and Camy young minwu noren baa pendrith jger and will Z so step one let’s step back just for a second and talk about the philosophical difference between this and a week like last week really at the end of the day Tom Kim and cam Young have to fill out the top of the salary ranges and I don’t mean this in a bad way but they’re not those type of players they don’t have the win Equity that Scotty Sheffer and Rory and Xander and whoever else is up there carry and that makes it really interesting because when you look at the betting markets Tom Kim is is the favorite he’s like 12 to One cam young is 16 to1 these other guys are in the mid 20s going up to the 30s there’s not a lot of win Equity up there but you’re gonna most likely get to these guys in a healthy amount because you have so much salary to spend so there’s a game theory element of building very balanced this week it’s not to say that I don’t want these guys uh they’re good players the best players in this field looking at it I’m just going to knock out my kind of rankings cam young would be the pay up option for me followed by norin and then joerger of the guys on the screen right now I like the way joerger’s playing he can obviously do it we saw him break through earlier this year norin can take apart these easy courses Camy young you I think could argue is the class of the field nothing against Tom Kim it’s nothing against pendrith minwoo I’m not really into at 105 will Z if he again we will see the ownership adjust I don’t think he’s going to be overly popular it’s probably more of that against the Green play if you wanted to start there but for me Camy young norin and joerger uh are the targets up top you get to Ricky who’s not going to be popular either at flat nine uh he’s had success here as we talked about but he’s been really struggling I think he’s definitely playable uh just be given the field he did gain six Strokes putting at Rocket uh at Rocket mortgage at Travelers last week and last year here he did find it but he has basically done nothing since this tournament last year and that is very concerning more people many more people are going to go the next range Maverick Ry Bobby Mack Keith Mitchell Davis Thompson Ryan Fox and Chris Kirk a lot of ownership in this range and there should be Maverick is one of the most popular players people are picking him to win I totally get it Aaron Ry is really useful in you know DFS scoring particularly on DraftKings he can score he can outscore his placement he’s not overpriced 8,800 he’s made five straight cuts he’s got three inside the top 20 including the US Open the game is Rock Solid no glaring weakness you had to say there was a weakness it would be the putter but these guys are really solid plays the question is can you start with them I think the answer is yes that you can the problem is ironically if you start with them you almost have so much money to spend you’re going to end up in a probably a decently duped range unless you’re leaving salary on the table because if you play Maverick and you start with him you’re probably going to play two of Ry kill Keith Rob Bobby Mack Davis you know a couple of these guys then you’re gonna pepper the sevenk range and you’re gonna be done and that’s it like that’s literally the team I don’t know about that so I’m gonna try to go balance but I I may look to be unique when I do it leave a little money on the table don’t get caught in that trap where you have the same balanced lineup as everybody else Heath Mitchell at 8500 we have seen him excel at Honda at valpar uh technical layouts but the same concept that if you control your driver you can destroy these courses he’s going to be very popular as well but these are guys that I’m going to actually try to get over uh in my portfolio I like them quite a bit we’ll see what the Sims give me again I’ll be running them just like everybody else here leaning on these tools but I am going to probably manually boost Ry and Keith Mitchell if I’m not getting a lot of them in the field Ryan Fox if he’s sub 10% ownership uh we’ll see where this number goes I think he makes a lot of sense as well um and this is a range that I think you can allocate a lot of shares to there’s some good players here there’s going to be ownership but again with salary constraints being very lacked due to the lack of win Equity up top I can reasonably get over I think on three or four of these guys in the 8K range there’s going to be a lot of cross uh you know in the same lineup type things but that’s okay I don’t think that that’s bad at all here so when I look at this Mitchell and Ry are probably my favorite too and then Ryan Fox would be third somewhat ownership dependent though uh last guy Thorn Bon the mega Talent young we don’t know we saw him play a little bit played last week you know if you want a macro Buy on talent I always get it I tend to do that in the 6K range not the 8K range uh you’re not paying as big of a tax in a field like this you are still paying ATT tax though so right off the bat we’ve got some good Targets in the mid-range before I go fully into the mid-range and dive in I can’t bury the lead and this is the lead uh I wish the lead was that I actually did have a a nice week last week from betting to DFS but it pales in comparison to one of our members who I hope you guys saw it and if you didn’t you’re about to one $200,000 Kevin roach that is one of the coolest things that is an incredible takedown those don’t happen too often 200k 724 points I don’t think in all the years that I’ve played DFS golf I’ve ever eclipsed that that is insane uh only can happen in birdie Fest but the the pure mid-range you’ve got Ben Griffin EVR hubard and senson uh you know my man senson I I actually just have to start there because I have just been playing this guy nonstop and I’m starting to get paid off on him he’s starting to play some really good golf he was he was super useful last week he’s actually the top Canadian in the betting markets came in 16th finally gained Strokes putting he had lost in five of six on the green he gained 1.3 Strokes putting that was good enough for 16th at Travelers comes in here with some momentum made a boatload of cuts I believe it’s 11 straight this guy’s playing good golf and his price is not adjusted enough Mar cup hasn’t missed a cut all year but he hasn’t done a lot with him either he’s 77 I get it uh I think he’s kind of a neutral play EVR Patrick Rogers if you want to go off the T heavy Tor Mo loves this course but he’s playing awful and that is a delicate situation I tend to be underweight on t more this week Nick Dunlap he can’t putt he’s out for me Matt Wallace hogard Bo hostler and Cam Davis again right now very very early look these guys aren’t getting a great deal of ownership and that’s not surprising they grade out pretty neutral hogart is someone to keep an eye on I have a feeling this number is going to change in a big way so keep that in mind when you’re running these you know they’ll be updated later today when we get all the information everything will be good we get tea times we got weather all that stuff coming in uh I like hogard he’s a good player he’s sound he’s got experience in fields that are much stronger than this hasn’t been playing well he’s got three made cuts out of five nothing better than a t35 but it was at the US Open the PGA Championship you’re talking about Majors um this is a clearly a drop in competition for that reason I think that hogard is a not an easy play but certainly in the pool scrolling down Sam Stevens and Lee Hodges are two names I want to highlight Lee Hodes has been really quietly playing some quality golf uh he was 12th at the PGA Championship followed up with the 12th that Charles Schwab made the cut at Memorial and I’m not gonna say made the cut at The Travelers but he was 31st just solid solid golf we’re talking about a low 7K player I mean that that could be your last man in on a lot of these teams and that’s very enticing to me in the pool for sure Burger’s in the pool you know he’s worked back from injury he’s not the same player at the height of his powers but in a field like this I still have some interest there Luke Clanton um I’m not sure I’m gonna get there but shout out Florida State Doug gim I get it uh I do want to see that ownership he fits on a lot of levels he was playing really good golf early in the year and then it kind of dissipated and that is a little worrisome but you’re talking about a $6,900 player with you know a ton of experience on tour he’s played the last couple years he knows what he’s doing really good form earlier in the year he had a stretch of 13th 12th eth 16th and 16th that’s five straight top 20s on the PGA tour that’s Elite no doubt about it since then he’s really regressed but again he made the cut of the PGA Championship made the cut of Charles Schwab I think he belongs in the pool um game is a good enough player that he absolutely belongs in the pool and he will be in my player pool I hope he grades out well again when I run run my Sims and run my lineups I would like to see him and I could manually boost him if we’re not getting a lot this kind of starts the lower range though the salary Savers uh again this is where I don’t think it’s as important as past weeks just because I’m not sure you’re gonna have to dip into the crazy fives or anything we’ll talk about those guys for sure but names to keep in mind Rio huni a lot of talent we have seen him make 20 or more birdies in some Fields he really can score he’s a young gun from Japan gotten some reps over here well-rounded game uh 35th in Canada 18th at the PGA 13th at byon Nelson irons are good what’s not to like uh Price is Right don’t need a lot in the pool think he makes a lot of sense Andrew Novak 6700 certainly not a guy that’s going to you know blow you away with to me any one skill set he’s just a well-rounded player he can kind of gain in every area just solid 14th in Canada he’s made five of six Cuts you look at he had a really good stretch of eth eighth and Ninth early this year that was at Waste Management Mexico and the classic I think there’s some comps in there this is a guy at 6,700 I don’t expect him to Eclipse anywhere near 10% you’re looking at four four and change and ownership that’s something I can get behind so now we’re getting a little little dangerous there’s no doubt about it my guy toasty is here Alejandro toasty fellow Argentinian just like guio uh 6600 extreme Wild Man bomber off the te he will get after it he will make mistakes he will make scores he will make numbers but he can really help you uh he was on fire at Charles Schwab with his irons he has a runner up in Houston this year where he gained 3.3 off the te and another four and a half putting that’s the formula I want I think you can comp this to Houston toasty’s got that ability you know it’s very erratic he’s got miscut Equity up and down the board if you’re looking for tournament Centric lineups if you’re looking for a gpp Target that I don’t expect to be popular Alejandra toy I bet him at 90 to one out there I think that this guy absolutely has some of the skills to take it down Vegas and list are bombers uh Schmid is a bomber Justin laow is not he’s more of a putting Centric specialist and you start to see here the ownership on these guys is very low um some of them may get over 5% when it’s all said and done but I don’t anticipate a lot of that in this uh I can zoom in a little bit apologies um but when I look at these guys this is this is a pretty Barren range I think that Jake knap is an interesting case study at 6,400 what I mean by that is and I kind of just asked the question to the audience when you step up in competition and play poorly what does that really mean because Jake knap won in Mexico followed up with a fourth at the classic he made four five six out of seven Cuts after that playing pretty good golf including cluding he made the cut at the Masters then he missed the cut at the PGA another major he missed the cut at the memorial brutal course missed the cut at the US Open a major and he came in 48th at Travelers elevated event he is playing against the best players in the world at some of the toughest courses that the tour has to offer if he wasn’t in those fields would we feel stronger about him or are we saying man we’re seeing him really struggle I don’t want to go there that is that delicate balance that I think is very difficult to juggle with a player like that who stepped up and maybe because he stepped up has struggled with his game and now he gets to go back to a course that he should fit a lot better but with bad form I think that all in all he makes him more playable than not but you do have to assess that risk uh Neil Shipley another Young Gun certainly someone that you want to keep your eye on in life could be really talented just turned Pro I don’t think you need to go down here though Joel damond is the name that I’m going to Target if I pay up say I go like cam young norin and I really need to dig I’ll go to Joel Daman uh I will look to him and just say okay this is a guy that he can’t putt but his ball striking is better than this entire range in my opinion when you look at what he’s done on tour when he gets it going with the ball striking watch out uh he was 10th in Canada and the ball striking was there but he finally flipped the putter he had lost in seven straight G graded events with the putter that is just not going to allow you top end finishes finally gained with the Putter and he comes in 10th that is no coincidence uh Joe damond I think also could be a bet top 10 top 20 some of those markets I will give a quick shout out if you do bet some golf I definitely cross reference them and use the odds just like we do for The Sims and most people do um it’s an important part of golf uh figuring out what the books anticipate and trying to find Value whether it’s for a salary or anywhere else I mean as much as I would love to talk about all these guys I don’t have much to say Pearson cudy Elite putter um Sam Ryder Elite make whole outs from the Fairway Kelly craft Elite irons when he gets going I I don’t think you need to go down here I really don’t these are names of players that if you have a line on and you objectively like them fire it up if you’re doing it so you can pay up I think that’s more tenuous this week because what are you paying up for it’s not to say that Camy young and Tom cim and minwoo aren’t good players but they are not Scotty Sheffer and Rory and guys like that and when you pay up for these guys the win Equity that you’re getting is just not the same and for me that prevents me from doing that so when I look at my lineups when I run my simulations later today I hope to get more balanced looks I hope to get either what I call a 141 which is like give me one guy north of nine four guys from 7.5 to n and then one CHP or go like two2 and two where it’s like give me two in the nines two in the eights two punts stuff like that I think can be very effective obviously you don’t want to force builds they have to make sense with your player pool but when I you know just playing around with the data already today that was what I kind of getting to uh and I feel pretty comfortable about that I think when you look at this Tom Kim’s going to take a ton of ownership and he should he’s you know again the favorite in the field but I’m not as worried about him crushing my hopes and dreams as I would be with another top end player and so for that reason I think there’s a lot of utility in these balance builds this week if I didn’t get to a player and you have a question on him at jazz DFS I’d be more than
