Can You Ground Your Club In a Penalty Area?

A lot of golfers who have been playing for a long time still think you are not permitted to ground your club in a penalty area, but that rule changed in 2019. You can now ground your club and even take a practice swing when your ball is in a penalty. Just be sure that practice swing doesn’t cause your ball to move or you’ll earn a one stroke penalty and have to replace the ball.

are you allowed to ground your club for a ball in a penalty area or take a practice swing well you can in 2019 that rule changed and you can now ground your club and take a practice swing when your ball is in a penalty area you can also remove loose impediments and movable obstructions in there but first let’s just answer the question is that ball in the penalty area cuz it looks like it’s sort of half in and half out and the answer is yes if any part of that ball at rest t touches the edge of the penalty area then it is considered in the penalty area so she can play it as it lies which she’s about to do and if she takes a practice swing she has to be careful she doesn’t cause the ball to move because that would incur her a one-stroke penalty and she’d have to replace the ball luckily she takes a little shot it works out just fine
