Swimming with Surron (Don’t try this at Home!)

#motorcycle #electric
The 2024 Surron Ultra Bee electric dirt bike is not meant to be ridden underwater, but we did it anyway! The Ultra Bee is the new, bigger, stronger and faster version of the popular Light Bee model. We also rode the new Surron Storm Bee, which is another step up from the Ultra Bee, and it’s the same size of a normal dirt bike. In this video, Josh Mosiman and Justin Lee had some fun riding the Ultra Bee into the pool, and they tested both bikes at Glen Helen raceway, riding them on the tracks, trails, and everywhere in between.

[Music] yeah good looking guy Josh check this thing out what is that thing it’s a Sur Ultra v s Ultra what is it like electric or something it’s a e motorcycle have you ever ridden one before no dude this is my day off Jody hasn’t given me a day off in 6 years just take it for a spin try it out by the pool no come on just sit on it at least I’ll sit on it come on all right how does it work electric battery do you know if [Music] it’s woo I didn’t know it was on are you serious that was Suk are you serious oh oh my gosh turn’s going to kill you dude dude I didn’t know it was running well now you got to get it out of there okay [Applause] well woo oh my gosh it’s still running it’s still running no way oh it’s still running woo [Applause] oh let’s get it out of this let’s get out as we can p on the dud are you serious I’m still running oh my gosh who dude it still hurts are you serious right now there all right W it run it still run do another one for a victory what you do my [Music] pool siron is one of those brands that doesn’t really need an introduction you’re probably already familiar with bikes like these from the thousands of viral videos online and probably from the punk kids riding up and down your local streets but what I bet you didn’t know is that siron makes a full scale dirt bikee in this video we’re going to see what the storm be and the ultra be are capable of here at Glenn Helen siron created the eoto category that is now blowing up around the world they’ve been around for 10 years and have sold over 120,000 electric motorcycles their pride and joy is getting butts on bikes they’re not only about electric bikes they want to grow the motorcycle industry and they think this platform is the best way to get more people on on motorcycles the bike that you think of when you hear the name siron is the light be yes it looks like this model but this is actually its new older brother the ultra be this bike came out in May of 2023 it retails for $2,000 more than the light be it’s bigger faster and stronger and it retails for $6,500 but this is the bike that we’re most excited about retailing for $8,499 the suron stormby is more like a traditional dirt bike it’s got a 21in front wheel 18-in rear wheel and we’ve already seen what it’s capable of racing the 24 hours of Glen Helen last year now we’re excited to see what it’s like for ourselves right [Music] now so what are these bikes capable of today we had Glenn Helen all to ourselves and we tasted just a little bit of everything that Glenn hen has to offer we had to hit the main track we had to hit the vet track the peeee track the stadium cross track then we hit the truck track we messed around on the bleachers we did some speeduns down the back parking lot then we went over to the trails did some technical endural riding and all honestly we had a ton of fun but the reason we had so much fun we had this place all to ourselves and I think that really highlights the benefits of the siron storm be and Ultra B bikes these are not quite Motocross models and we understand that and siron understands that too sarin is not trying to compete like Stark is against Honda Kawasaki Yamaha Suzuki and KTM no they’re trying to create their own segment and truthfully they did create their own segment it’s the eoto segment it’s not an ebike like an e- mountain bike but it’s an eoto it’s a smaller scale bike but also electric bike not competitive against the 454 shs that we have here at Glen Helen so because we have the track to ourselves we had a ton of fun playing around on these things today test rider Justin Lee he’s the one behind the mxa fantasy app and he was the Run riding the ultra be today so up until a couple months ago I had no idea that these sirons even existed either we had a ton of fun riding on them today what was your first impressions hopping on the bikes were they faster slower so the storm be reminded me more of an actual dirt bike that we had ride out here at Glen Helen like a 450 or a bigger size uh machine the ultra B though felt more like a mountain bike with obviously the motor inside but lightweight super Nimble and easy to get around the track for me the storm be felt like a CRF 250f a really heavy trail bike um something that’s a lot more mellow on the power and perfect for learning how to ride a motorcycle I think that’s where the storm be really fits in best I have a lot of friends who want to get in to the sport of motocross this is the bike I’m going to be training them on big heavy stable and smooth roll on power with three different Power modes when I first hopped on it I thought okay this is a little bit better than I expect but once they turned the throttle response all the way up I was blown away I was actually having a ton of fun on that bike today so it’s not a full scale dirt bike as far as power goes it’s extr extremely heavy so heavier than a regular 250f or 450 but it is a ton of fun to ride it feels a little bit safer when I jumped on the ultra be almost a similar power that bike weighs 100 lb less than the storm be so it’s very Nimble very lightweight also has smaller Wheels the storm be has 21in front 18-in rear standard Motocross model the ultra be 1919 so the fact that it had smaller wheels made a little less stable smaller chassis overall but it is extremely Snappy and fun to ride more of like a pit bike where the storm B is more like a CRF 250f the big question coming into today is the storm be a capable Motocross machine we answer that question very quickly no it is not however it is a very fun machine though in its own category the Oto category is something that siron takes pride in the butts on bikes thing that was a tagline that I came up with but that’s something that I also picked up after hanging out with two big wigs from siron here today at Glenn Helen they have over 200 employees at siron and there are only two requ re Ms to get hired on to be an employee at siron one you have to ride a motorcycle and enjoy riding and two you actually have to spend a whole month on the production line building motorcycles in China at their production facility they’re all working on bikes and they all kind of get the full scale of how these motorcycles come together and kind of build that passion for bikes as well you have to ride to work at siron that doesn’t mean you have to own your own bike but you do have to ride one of their bikes now they have dictis they have BMWs they have all kinds of gas powerered motorcycles and that’s what they use for team building so suron the brand I grew to now like them after today a pleasure to get to know them and a pleasure to get to know the real siron we all know the siron that’s on the streets and we all know the siron that’s uh getting in trouble on Facebook and on YouTube and on Instagram now we got to meet the backstory we got to see the two bigger models the ultra B and the storm B and honestly we had a ton of fun with them today today I rode the ultra B I started at 96% and when I ended I was at 25% and the total mileage that I had accumulated was 6 15 miles which was actually more surprising than I thought it lasted a long time we had been riding for a few hours taking videos taking pictures doing all that sort of things so really pleasantly surprised with the battery life on the ultra be later in the afternoon we moved over to the storm be and Josh and I actually put tried to put down some fast lap times on the motocross track and when we were really hanging it out using the turbo button putting it to his Paces it was using about 8% per lap which is decent but at the same time you know each lap coming around I felt like it was getting a little bit lower and lower and you would have a little bit less if you’re were trying to ride back home from a track or if you’re out in the deserts that was also on a fulls scale motocross track with soft dirt like the track was ripped and prepped so we’re wide open everywhere obviously the bikes are more made for playing around you know making burms jumping smaller jumps the storm be that battery actually lasted quite a bit longer we got the same mileage out of it 16 miles and we were down to just about 45% I believe it was before we put a new battery in and we went out for our second session so we didn’t even need to put a new battery in at that time but as for ease of ride um these things are impressively easy I mean it’s it’s almost unfair how easy it is to ride if you can ride a bicycle you can ride a suron and that that is something that makes it easier for people to get into the sport of course a lot less maintenance with these bikes which is better for you know for young kids pretty simple you know put some chain lube on plug the bike in and you’re good to go y well now I understand why there are so many kids on these bikes because they’re easy to ride and they’re pretty affordable too $6,500 for the Ultra B it’s $2,000 more than the light be so yes it is bigger stronger faster and a little bit more pricey than the storm be a whole $2,000 jump up from there to 8,500 talking to siron today they say 70% of their Market is the lightbeam model now these are kind of their newer models that just came out last year 25% of their sales come with the ultra B the upgraded version of that bike and then the storm B this bike is brand new only about 5% of their sales not as important and not as big for the suron market so of course there’s a lot of drama when it comes to ebikes in Motocross personally Motocross Action we love two strokes we love four strokes we do not want to see either of those go away thankfully suron doesn’t either they’re happy to be in that eoto segment they’re not looking to take over the tracks here and take turn this track here at Glenn Helen from a fourstroke track into an electric bike track however there is some big news going on in the world lately the mxgp world championship over in Europe they are announcing in 2026 they’re creating an electric only class so two years from now it’s going to be at six of the mxgp rounds it’s going to be a separate class separate Racers separate bikes not racing electric bikes with the four strokes in the 450 or 250 classes Stark they are upset about it they released a press release just recently saying that they see that electric bikes should be in the combustion engine classes so let us know in the comments down below do you think electric bikes should race with four strokes and two strokes or do you think they should have their own separate class I don’t have a lot of electric bike experience KTM free ride we got to test that one for a while there’s a video and an article on our website comparing the KTM fre ride to these three bikes I’d say it fits right in the middle not as fast as these bikes both of these bikes are a little faster a little more throttle response but it’s definitely lighter than the storm be definitely heavier than the ultra B and it’s a lot more Nimble than the storm be as well but not as Nimble as the ultra B so that’s a little comparison if you know what the KTM free rid’s all about that’s all for this video I’m excited to take these bikes home continue testing and if you guys have any questions leave them down below cuz we’re excited to see what you guys think as well so although the siron ultra be did pass the underwater test with flying colors this bike was literally riding underwater we do not recommend you try this at home on your siron electric bike is not recommended and siron will not warrant to you if you jump your bike into a pool or try to backflip it into a pond that is not what it’s meant to do we did it more for the entertainment value and also just kind of to boast in sir’s durability this thing was underwater not once but twice and it still runs just fine afterwards so pretty impressive stuff from s but don’t try this at home [Music] 1. Please get your hands on a upgraded ultra bee, these bikes are made to be modded would love to hear your thoughts on them

  2. Glad you guys swamped it in the pool, I've been telling people for years the surron (I owned the light bee/surron X) is sick. I used to have to ride across a river to get to a sand track, rode 1 way across to the sand track and the river was WAAAAAY deeper than i expected. On the way back I couldn't build enough speed due to the run up, went OTB in the river. Turned the bike off, literally picked it up and carried it out, rode it back to the truck thinking I was gonna shock myself into an impromptu gender change. Let it sit for like 5 mins and kept ripping the rest of the day. Electric is so sick, I would come up on sleeping deer, wild turkey, could hear the river coursing next to me after a heavy rain, etc. Electric is so cool for stuff you wouldn't expect, till you ride it solo and early morning.

Edit: I even cracked open the electric motor after the ride, curious if it got any humidity in there at all. Not a fkn lick of water. The primary drive system of the LBX is soggy dog balls, because it shreds belts in any type of condition that can get packed into the belt. But so sick

  3. Just like how they evolved from two stroke to four stroke in the same classes they should allow electric bikes to compete with the ICE bikes. Then people get to directly see if they are an advantage or not and the industry will follow suit.

As electric vehicle technology evolves it's really only a matter of time before they take over, both with motorcycles and automobiles.

  4. If Stark can't go in the 450 class then 450s can't go it the 450 (250cc two stroke) class. Trying to handicap the sport because electric bikes hurt your feelings is stupid. I still remember th yz400, which everyone thought was a joke until it wasn't. The yz400 didn't ruin the sport it took it to the next level. I ride a yz250 two stoke but a yz450 eats it for breakfast. 500 two strokes used to be the premier class until 250s were actually faster….imagine if MotoGP stopped moving forward. Name one motorsport that doesn't evolve besides vintage racing.

  5. The only way an eBikes should ever be allowed to race with ice bikes is: cannot change the battery. Must use the same batt all race weekend, including between motos.
Racing is to develop technology. The tech has to be able to charge for a full race distance time & time again, and quickly.
Otherwise, put them in their own class. If that's the case for Formula-E, it right for MXGP. Same for US SMX!

  6. As a fat boy who can ride, these look more like mtb conversion than an acutal e-dirtbike. The little forks, small tube frame, small chains just arent worth considering the dollar for dollar value of a yz or cr imo. Probably great for cruising around central park, but not for cruising the dunes or trail riding. Good for kids and women 😂

  7. First off, 3 months of Stark ownership reveals.. cannot finish a Moto, danger to other riders due to zero noise… and ABSOLUTE danger to racers, why?… the apprehension that the bike will hit limp mode at the face of a triple, double or mid way through a whooop section.. and when the Stark begins losing horsepower GET OFF THE TRACK and curse the day you sent full payment to Stark…..Surron is a toy ….

  8. I don’t think they should be in the gas powered races yet, maybe small track local racing, but not national events.
A industry Ebike racing would be cool at supercross events. In between events.

  9. That’s interesting I didn’t know that about surron. I figured they were just a Chinese company sending bikes overseas to flood the market

  10. For 4 strokes, they allowed almost double the displacement vs 2 strokes, but now electric should be separate? Only reason AMA isn't allowing mixed is because the big 5(also their biggest donors) don't have any competitive e-bikes yet compared to Stark. We should just move to weight classes instead. 100-150lb, 150lb-200lb and 200lb-250lb & maybe 250lb+ bike classes would be cool to see. Bike weight makes a bigger difference than powertrain imo. Now with electric, dirtbikes have more power than you could realistically put down on dirt. There's 40HP 150lb Light Bees lol.

  11. Heck no man. It’s not about the noise. E Bikes do not require shifting, its straight throttle response. They should be placed against bikes of the same nature. Torq of electric does not compare to the torq of gas. Electric is instant power. Gas requires combustion and shifting. It’s like allowing a transgender Male to swim with the Females in the olympics. Blasphemy. Im not a hi ho electric fan. But theres reasons why there are class seperations in sport.

  12. Haters keep hating. They can't even say WHY they should be a separate class, because they are better? 😁 We wanna ride with everybody else, not get segregated. Get over it fellas. Run what you brung.

  13. It ok to race with the gas bikes when there winning now it’s all changed with the stark haha electric is sick let it beat them where it hurts just so you no I have both gas and ⚡️bikes

  15. Two classes is the answer. But the popularity in those classes will flip flop faster than anyone thinks. All the Sur Ron kids are the next gen moto fans.
