purple daily is daily Vikings entertainment do you just want the Vikings to win a Super Bowl before we die I will ride with this group seriously man please and away we go welcome in to purple daily we just want the Vikings to win a Super Bowl before we die and if you believe espn.com in the article we’re going to dive into here today pretty good situation pretty good situation set up here for maybe not for this year necessarily but mm U but there’s a a really interesting piece from friend of the show Aaron shots formerly of football Outsiders right and now espn.com he’s been on the show maybe four years ago really I don’t have no I can’t recall it all he came on he came on with us uh in the early parts of our uh purple daily switch yeah he came out with us when he was with football Outsiders like the summer of 2020 pretty sure Aon shots you say Okay s CH AZ I know the name I know the name I don’t par didn’t happen I don’t recall the appear no I just don’t recall it I never said didn’t happen I’m sure it happened it’s a great analytical discussion about the 2020 Vikings it’s great wow but um before we get before we get to this and it it lays out the best and worst situations that every top drafted quarterback like top 12 picks of every draft going back 35 years and a couple interesting things Vikings related that we’re going to get to uh Nica law is the exclusive personal injury law firm of purple daily so nicolay law by the way uh Russell nicolay huge fan of the purple you see on the YouTube channel power suit power tie Roman around US Bank Stadium but these are just normal everyday Folks at Nicol law who live and serve the Twin Cities communities that they uh that they live in just normal everyday folks that happen to have law degrees to help you get the compensation you deserve after an accident we appreciate them supporting us and if you’ve been injured you can get Minnesota’s local award-winning injury lawyers nicolay nickola law.com or give them a call at 1855 Nicola so espn.com’s Aaron shots writes I looked at every quarterback selected in the top 12 picks since 1990 including this year’s first round passers each quarterback going back to 1990 was judged based on the roster the year that they were drafted so who are your you’re drafted here you are welcome to the team who are your wide receivers who are your weapons Etc even if they didn’t play as a rookie he’s still looking at the situation that they were drafted in as a rookie and um it’s really interesting I’m just going to I’m going to go through some of this and you guys can react so these are the rankings first of all he looked at the the best situations for number one overall picks and like jamus Winston with the 2015 Buccaneers had Mike Evans and they had some other things Eli Manning had aanii tumer Ike Hilliard uh Jeremy shaki Tiki Barber he struggled early even with a good situation Joe burrow actually came in with a bunch of weapons AJ Green at the time then T Higgins later on dear um Jamar Chase but he’s saying Caleb Williams actually has been drafted of all the number one pick quarterbacks Caleb Williams is the best situation going back to 1990 that’s interesting but uh if we widen it to the top 12 picks which is where JJ McCarthy was 10th so now we opened it up to the top 12 picks quarterbacks that were drafted in the top 12 since 1990 sure here are the best situations ever Jake Cutler 2006 Broncos is 10 yeah Philip Rivers 2004 Chargers is nine Patrick Mahomes 2017 Chiefs is eight Joe burrow seven Matthew Stafford 2009 Lions Calvin Johnson’s one of the greatest receivers of all time and you don’t get that every day yep franchise was a dumpster fire so you might want to account for that but Justin Fields is five with the 2020 21 Bears cuz he had Alan Robinson who was a a thousand yard receiver coming over from Jacksonville yep number four JJ McCarthy this year’s Vikings okay number three Matt liner 2006 Cardinals I think I know who’s won yep that’s Larry Larry fitzg to enquan Balden by the way you can’t make it work with those guys and you’re going to be on a panel on TV that’s not too shabby number two kalea Williams and number one get your roll on yep Dante Co pepper in 1999 Vikings yeah slam dunk right popped into uh and didn’t have and didn’t have to start but put into a situation that was unbelievable with a a good offensive mind Absol and even when he so he sits for a year and then so now you know what are his weapons the next year well it’s still Randy Moss Chris Carter Jake Reed was gone yep but Robert Smith was still there running for, 1400 yards but absolutely what are your guys thoughts on this I guess there’s two parts of the conversation number one that JJ McCarthy is being put into according to espn.com one of the best situations any firstr quarterback has been put into in 35 years and also the number one situation we’ve already seen the blueprint from 25 years ago so here’s my first thought Aaron Aaron shots friend of the show friend of the show I’m told don’t really remember you but friend of the show um I think I think this list is fraught with one huge thing and Phil you sort of referred to this you have to look at who the coach was you have to yeah I think he I think he included I mean I guess he says rosters though like Caleb Williams is being put I mean yes the Personnel looks good yeah but it’s a defensive coach and and like my God how can the Chicago Bears with their history of not developing QBs ever get the benefit of the the you know Justin Fields okay he might not be good I don’t know but I’m going to tell you right now if he had been drafted by a different team I like his odds more so I find this I find this list um to be super intriguing I love the research but you’ve got to include who is there like Dennis Green and that that Viking staff was really good too offensively and organizationally obviously and Stafford like tier point the yeah the Vikings have never won a Super Bowl so that’s that’s the headline of the organization but they’ve also been just in terms of regular season win loss record one of the best organizations in NFL history I think organizational inertia matters in some of this Calvin Calvin Johnson retired prematurely because the organization stunk yeah so like Stafford Sanders did too right but I mean so Stafford goes there yes on paper oh my God I can throw to Calvin Johnson but when that guy bailes like you got to say okay Stafford who who has proven this by the way as a ram has proven that he was put into a situation that actually sucked um the McCarthy thing I think is really interesting and again I think it ties I think it ties very closely to the C pepper thing in this they both don’t have to play which I’m going to continue to say I absolutely love I absolutely love Caleb Williams fair or not will be largely judged in some ways on this season that’s a difficult thing you’re a rookie you are a college QB who ran a college offense on which you looked at a a playlist that showed a donkey a cow a bikini model and Simpson exactly and now you’re like okay I got to run a National Football League offense so I think the most interesting thing in my opinion is that one and four are tied together by one thing coaching staffs that have no interest in applying unnecessary pressure to your career yeah so you it’s funny you mentioned sitting the entire first season so let’s drill down on some of this stuff of of the 10 guys on that list and actually let’s just take away the two rookies because we don’t know what their fate is yet sure there’s eight guys on this list that we have some take away Caleb take away JJ McCarthy and the other eight we have at least some feel or a full feel cuz their career’s over for what their fate is Justin Fields you’re backup now like like year four your backup until you prove otherwise it it didn’t work out very well but of the of the eight remaining that aren’t rookies this year two of them sat their entire first season despite having great situations Patrick Mahomes and Dante c pepper both momes is one of is maybe the greatest quarterback of all time col pepper was like the second best quarterback in the NFL 2004 yeah knee injury and you know I’m not putting him on the Mahomes level but here’s something else too this this should make Vikings fans feel really optimistic of the eight quarterbacks on this list that aren’t rookies five out of the eight by my math turned out to be extremely high-end guys momes Philip Rivers Rivers was like a fringe top five quarterback for years and years led the league in categories yards per attempt like five or six times Joe burrow when healthy is a top five quarterback Matthew Stafford you know you get him out of that I mean he put up a bunch of numbers with Detroit but you get him out of Detroit boom Super Bowl right away and now he’s back into the top 10 and then Dante Co pepper kind of a bright flash of light for a few years and then his career was over but the only ones on this list that didn’t really pan out to be extremely high-end guys are Jake Cutler who was serviceable for 10 plus years Matt ler complete bust and then Justin fields at this point kind of kind of a bust so good I mean the odds are when you when you get drafted into a situation like this the odds are you become a really high-end guy according to this research and look at at the three guys that didn’t either pan out or were just flat out busts look at where they were thrust into the Cardinals which definitely had talent but again is questionable to a certain degree for sure mhm um the the Bears had their fingerprints on two of these guys yeah and that’s what scares me like I I’m sorry I think it’s difficult to pass judgment on quarterbacks from certain teams and the Bears haven’t fixed it like how can the Bears I don’t understand how you can have this investment in a quarterback and it appears to be the correct investment and not have an offensive coach do you when you see JJ McCarthy’s future when you look into your sports dad crystal football that’s a little like Blurry right right now because of age but go ahead do you see I’ll I’ll give you the names again of the these are the best situations the last 35 years that top 12 drafted quarterbacks have landed in and of the eight guys on this list five turned out to be really highend do you see any sort of semblance of Philip Rivers or Patrick Mahomes a Joe burrow I see some Joe burrow leadership swag traits for sure arm strength yeah Matthew Stafford Dante col pepper you know you see any glimpses oh that’s interesting you know Co pepper I think was call Peppers 2004 which was which if not for pton would have I think probably made him the league MVP is interesting because he was also propped up by a coaching staff which actually helped um until until red got so damn cheap uh yeah I could see some burrow for sure but and I think I saw this uh last week as the as the Vikings um offseason workout film and like miked up comes out did you guys see oconnell there’s a a oconnell talking to McCarthy at one point and he basically says you don’t even realize the juice that your arm has cuz he’s got a freaky can and and it was it’s very odd now that in retrospect it was like it you know is the arm strength there I mean clearly so I think between coachability the fact that I I do think that he can probably command a team and huddle and arm strength yes I think that there is definitely Dynamics do I think that he should be thrust in and play immediately I would prefer not which is why I like what they’re doing it does feel his bus level would be similar to maybe Matt leer and that’s I I know there’s been comparisons of those two as well in different ways like was a three-year starter was even an All-American I think like one year at USC but a guy that like did not translate into the NFL they’re drafted around the same spots yes you know ler had good weapons but didn’t have I think that was the end of the Denny greener in Arizona right when he got there I’m pretty sure um well he had Larry Fitz jden and Balden had both those wide receivers that were that were legit but yeah his head coach maybe Denny green obviously had lost his fast ball there to a degree but um I think him sitting and him being around The Supporting Cast that he has it’s it’s interesting like and even Jay Cutler like I was never a big Jay Cutler fan but like Jay Cutler was a serviceable QB I mean he had some Brett Fab and I’m going to throw into triple coverage because bleit syndrome but he turned out to be a pretty decent quarterback so I think of all the guys all the guys on this list outside of ler which is probably the scariest and probably Justin Fields like these are all pretty good names to be in company with Cutler personality wise was a a bomb yeah like I’m sorry but but but who he is in those shows that he did that’s him he doesn’t he never he has a unbelievable arm and I think he had unbelievable talent I don’t think he was ever wired to care enough which is I which I think McCarthy is 100% because he’s one everywhere and he cares deeply so like if we’re just talking about brain Mak up I’ll take McCarthy every day of the week over Cutler even though Cutler’s Talent was charts yeah Cutler I think Cutler had one of the lowest eqes of any quarterback that’s ever been put on that platform just like zero control over his emotions at times yeah just like mopy body bad body language all that stuff so just just to piggyback off you know Dean’s Arizona Cardinals Matt leiner thing the good news is you’re going to know pretty quickly and the that’s what the the Cardinals in 2006 all right Matt Leonard’s our guy we’ve got Denny green established offensive coach for 15 years and then we’ve got Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Balden as two that’s like probably one of the top three wide receiver combos in 2006 I’m trying to think back like Marvin Harrison Reggie Wayne back then trying to think of some of the other ones but sure so you’re throwing to 23-year-old Larry Fitzgerald and 26-year-old Anquan Balden oh and by the way they signed Edan James aged 28 who was a 1500 yard rusher with the Colts the previous year so they they run it for a year with Matt leiner it doesn’t work and they said well maybe this maybe we’re pulling the plug too early but we just gave you incredible weapons and offensive minded coach and so now we’re going to move on to Kurt Warner and because they had such great offensive infrastructure they move into the Kurt Warner and then eventually into the Carson Palmer business and the Cardinals were really competitive after Matt leinard so you know not to like I think JJ McCarthy I think he’s going to be a serviceable quarterback but you’ll find out quickly at least with the weapons that he’s throwing to whether it’s this year or next year I think you’ll know by the end of 2025 is this a guy that can play at a pretty high end at some point right yep but the Common Thread with the Cardinals was was that they then pivoted to two veteran QBs who are both really good but also didn’t need the infrastructure as much as a kid does right like that’s the thing is I think the Vikings have built up and this certainly did not exist unfortunately like five years back now I think the Vikings have built up a really good infrastructure to cultivate and develop um and I think that we can find that there’s there’s an issue with some of these teams that don’t provide that and I’m sorry but you know you’re still a kid and if you get put into an environment I mean hell check out the Jets right like there’s something were all of those QBs truly a bust or or did that just become a we can’t develop them we don’t even know how the pressure we can’t we can’t Shield them I I mean it’s a small thing but it’s big in my opinion Kevin oconnell if you look at his approach all spring long right he’s literally shielding McCarthy and there’s nothing wrong with that that’s smart he’s not media yeah yeah and and why would you want to thrust him into a spotlight he does not need like that’s part of your job um I would say that the Jets and the Cardinals and certain teams have done a bad job now if I get if I get um um Kurt Warner guess what he doesn’t need it he’s been around all all of this so the shielding is not necessary there I just think it’s a very interesting dynamic in where guys go and to watch Like H how they do based on the organizational attitude towards them yeah you know this article also listed out the worst five situations since 1990 for top 12 drafted quarterbacks and it is I’ll read you these five names it’s a really interesting exercise in if you are a quarterback that was born into a broken household in a bad part of town with bad school system you know you’re you’re whatever like your dad is absentee or something right yes it doesn’t mean that you can’t overcome the circumstance and become a top quarterback but it’s a lot easier if you’ve got great family support and you plug into the right friend groups when you get to Junior High in high school right so here are the worst situations according to espn.com since 1990 for top 12 drafted quarterbacks Dave Kingler 1992 Bengals oh yeah yeah he might have been a run and shoot guy okay and there you just just said it the 92 Bengal all you need to know yeah and then Ryan Leaf 98 Chargers yeah he had his own problems as well that he brought in but yes but if he had been brought in and they sit him for a year and he’s with a great organization and Andy Reid is his coach or something does he wind up in jail 15 years later I don’t know number three Carrie Collins with the expansion Panthers in 1995 yep that’s tough it’s an expansion team there’s no culture there’s nothing and I would argue he actually kind of overcame it and because he was the Giants quarterback on a Super Bowl team that beat the Vikings 41 donut in the NFC championship game number two Drew bledo 93 patriots the patriots got really bad in like the late 80s early 90s and Drew bledo comes in now he kind of overcame it to have a pretty darn good career going to say he was yes and then number one David Carr drafted to the 2002 I think expansion Texans just got absolutely Anni obliterated annihilated yeah wasn’t he sacked like seven here it is 76 sacks as a rookie yeah he struggled with that poor guy and so so did his offensive line yeah his number one receiver was Corey Bradford who signed from Green Bay in free agency he had 31 catches the year before yeah he was a farv guy and then there was a couple other random guys but yeah so all right David Carr super talented guy but you’re going to be in a home where the parents are fighting and where there’s no security exactly and whatever like there’s it’s a bad school Etc and that’s the the thing to keep in mind about Caleb in Chicago I think he does have Personnel but one the infrastructure of the Bears is questionable I think it’s proving but it and and there’s no protection for him he is going to come in and they are going to be in Chicago which which obviously can be very harsh when it comes to a media Market there’s going to be expectations and coverage that’s going to be constant on day one it started they were literally breaking down everything he was doing in in the springtime camps now I tried as well but I was one guy on McCarthy and ain’t nobody care about that right but I mean Caleb they were literally going through through a pick today he was three for eight and and that’s the that’s the thing is do you really want to do this do you really want to subject a young player who is going to make millions and be the future of your franchise to immediate expectations at that position dude I have a I’ve had for months a bad feeling about Caleb Williams in Chicago don’t you think he’s sensitive he strikes me as being sensitive and that’s a bad Market to be in balled his eyes out in the arms of his parents in the stadium right after they lost a college football game yeah and on some you know on one side you know men should be allowed to show emotion of course I agree so I’m not saying that you can’t be emotional as a Young Man a football player that you can’t you can’t be passionate but I think there needs to be a little there needs to be like a governor on it there needs to be some control of okay I am very emotional right now but I’m going to put some space between what I’m feeling and I’m going to act until I get behind the scenes in the tunnel and and he just I don’t know man he like he clearly didn’t have that in his last year at USC and now he’s in the third biggest media Market with a franchise that hasn’t developed a quarterback in 60 years I just have a weird feeling everyone’s doing a Victory lap about look at this great the Bears are on the rise and Caleb Williams and I don’t know man I don’t know I think if I had to bet I I would bet on the Vikings infrastructure over the Bears infrastructure over the next 5 years yeah I agree including head coach their head coach is on a hot seat if the Bears underperform they’re probably firing Matt Eber flu which they probably should have done yeah I mean I would have tried to bring in like the prime example to me of this entire discussion is this Patrick Mahomes was probably destined to be unbelievably good okay but one as you said Phil he sat for a year and two Andy re Andy Reid football-wise is phenomenal absolutely phenomenal and he knew exactly what he had and cultivated it and developed it um if Patrick Mahomes is drafted by by the Bears how many Super Bowls does he have right now and where does he rank in the pantheon of alltime QBs well let’s play just a a quick little game here in that regard cuz we’re talking about how obviously there’s I think Talent of quarterback is the number one processing and all the things like that’s the number one thing but a close second is environment and Circumstance and everything let’s look at the 2017 and then just for fun the 2018 drafts let’s say Patrick Mahomes and the other teams that were in the hunt for a quarterback in those two years so Mahomes winds up going 10th to the Chiefs and Andy Reid and one of the best situations ever sits for a year well the Bears draft Mitch trubisky number two if momes gets drafted by the Bears number two overall yeah exactly what happens Matt naggie right yeah does does he have three Super Bowls e with the Bears no that’s yeah no I don’t think so and I’m not saying he’s bad but I’m saying I don’t know he’s great what if that train wreck Houston Texans organization they drafted deshun Watson one pick after well or two picks after Mahomes and they play him immediately okay so that so that’s a potential strike what are the play calls does he run more because if he runs more he might get hurt you know I I mean there’s so many variables here based on where you potentially go and you don’t control them all as a quarterback I know that like this Mahomes wasn’t going to be in the 2018 draft but just for fun like let’s say he his draft class was the next year yep and the Cleveland Browns drafted Baker Mayfield number one won in 2018 what if Patrick Mahomes gets drafted to the 2018 Browns do the Browns have three Super Bowls right now probably I don’t I don’t think no I don’t think so and then and then the ultimate one that we’ve talked about Sam Darnell gets drafted third the next year yep to that complete train wreck Jets team was that Adam gase I feel like Adam gase I think that was Adam gase by then because I mean he he had helped Payton in in Denver so surely he was an offensive genius like is the is the inertia of Patrick momes enough to change that franchise or is is it the other way around where like the the Jets would have made Patrick Mahomes into a near bust oh God it’ be fun to play these scenarios out yeah and I think I think best case he’s still very good but to your question three Super Bowls no way yeah he does not have three with the Jets you think the Jets have one I don’t know about no I don’t know because there’s again again there’s so there are so many factors you can’t control and the Chiefs have done a magnificent job of controlling them in the right way for the most part yeah and the funny thing is with the Vikings they take so few shots this is the first time they’ve ever drafted a quarterback in the top 10 it’s incredible we don’t even really know you know they if they would take more shots like this instead of getting comfortable with the journeyman or the one-year Brett far Patchwork Warren Moon for three years back in the 90s like yep um and again the it’s not like the Vikings are the Chiefs and Andy Reid cuz they’ve never won a Super Bowl and I totally get that but I would I will I will agree with Aaron shots and say this is a great situation for JJ McCarthy to be in it would have been a great situation for Drake May Y and now instead look go look at the Patriots weapons I’m surprised that he didn’t make the list for the top five worst situations drafted into Drake May rookie defensive coach yeah no discernable weapons yeah that’s true you know yesterday we talked on purple daily on draft I just got miles and Tyler’s thoughts on the Vikings offseason grade being a c minus and the Patriots grade being can you guys guess what the Patriots offseason grade was actually before I tell you B you think the Patriots offseason grade was plus I’m guessing a minus a minus for what to just because that they drafted Drake may I guess I I guess yeah which is just baffling to me the Dallas Turner trade has become such a hot button issue in the analytics Community because the chart didn’t say it was a good trade and nobody takes into account that a guy that should have been a top 10 pick ordinarily fell that they’re just like they painted it with this broad brush of well that’s just a bad trade and there’s no way around it and I think it’s ridiculous and I usually don’t defend the Vikings unless they deserve it but I’m sorry you got a potential Edge now if he stinks we can go back and talk about this but you got a potential top 10 pick from The Edge I just I don’t get the I don’t get that nobody’s taken a step back or I shouldn’t say nobody I don’t get more people haven’t taken a step back and analyzed it from that angle to combine with what what the value chart says yeah you know what a great situation for your home could be Finch Home Solutions no question about it no question about it I have to calm down now because I need to get excited about my friends at Finch Home Solutions who does don’t know the topic yet they’re all rage just just a on air production meeting do you want me to pick that do you have something in mind you’d want me to do Phil do you want you want to save something when we’re all three together I would say uh we can talk off Mike too no no no let’s talk on Mike this is great you know what chansy and Fargo sent a couple good ones in if you’re bringing day though some CET okay let’s go all right a wrap daily Vikings enter mment we just want the Vikings to win a Super Bowl before we die

  1. I agree on the Bears. They have been basically tanking for at least two years. What does tanking do to the psyche of a team from top to bottom? Can a tanking team really turn it all around from a losing culture to a winning culture in one year? I don't think so. I think the Bears are a year or two away from being, a serious threat in the NFC North.

  2. The Dallas Turner trade makes so much sense when you consider him as a prospect. Hindsight might prove otherwise, but thats true of any pick. The reality is that you can only put so many players on the roster and I'd rather take a strong shot on a DE with crazy RAS, young age, wonderful attitude, and proven production in a tough conference and a tough program. We've done it the Speilman way for ages, which is good for generating value, but you need to be able to cash in on that value, and trading up was genius. No one is going to wish we stuck with two 2nd rounders the first time we see Turner wail on Caleb Williams.

  3. I would say, JAMARCUS RUSSELL should be on that list. Worst “work ethic” in NFL History by a mile. I wonder what kind of home he grew up in? Dude had an arm, I’ll give him that. But that’s as far as that went.

  4. You know deep down you have no faith in your team when you have to bring up shit from the past constantly! To justify if your team is going to suck! I guess get the excuses ready 😂😂

  5. As someone who watched every Leinart game at USC (he won a Heisman), he and JJ are quite different QB's as far as their skills set. Leinart in no way had the arm talent JJ has. Not close, and this hurt him in the NFL. Leinart's calling card was accuracy, which was borderline elite. This is also the area KOC is working with JJ to improve on most with, addressing his footwork. They're both gamers and good decision makers, but Leinart's immobility + lack of arm strength really hurt him. JJ has the much higher upside IMO, because he has greater tools to work with.

  6. Has anyone did a check on College championship QBs vs their NFL succcess? championship vs NFL winning season/playoffs/ Superbowl/Superbowl champion. Or do we not really want to know? I seen this. There’s only two qbs that won a college championship and super bowl: Joe Namath and Joe Montana. None recently. (As Starters)

  7. Hes definitely set up for sucess for sure but hes not playing a snap this year unless both darnold & Mullens get injured so its more sam darnold is set up for sucess not to mention hes struggling against vikings backups/ practice squad players hes just not very good

  8. So funny that we went from Mccarthy could start day 1 predraft to know hes gotta sit behind sam darnold usually when you redshirt a top 10 pick qb its because a good vet is in front of him not a diffent teams recent draft bust . Vikings pulled a ponder forcing the qb pick because they had to lets stop making excuses for Mccarthy every other rookie actually looked the part in offseason workouts being either qb1 or qb 2 yet mccarthy looks bad not even playing against vikings actual defense

  9. One nice thing about JJ Mc No Touch getting drafted here is that no idiot will ever be able to talk to me again about the "situation" and "coaching" running a bad player.

  10. So suppose the Vikings win a SB and you are still above ground. Now you are so happy that you walk around with a shirt sating we djd it. Okay grasshoppers, now YOURlife has meaning? WACKO.

  11. Mahomes sat behind Alex Smith on a 11 win team, Culpepper sat behind Cunningham on a winning team, not sam Darnold on a losing team

  12. How is Payton Manning not on that list? As a rookie with the Colts he had Marshall Faulk, Marvin Harrison, Marcus Pollard, and rookie Jerome Pathon. And HC Jim Mora. The OL was young and not very great however.

  13. how hard is it to pretend like Nicolet Law isn't just some scumbag ambulance chaser….not a good group of people lol

  14. Does this list account for the o-line, defense, coach etc? No way Stafford is #6 just because of Calvin Johnson. Most QBs would've been out of the league in three years on that team!

  15. Culpepper had little hands and fumbled all the time. Dude thought he was way better than he really was and it cost us Randy Moss

  16. Agree on take with Cutler. His arm was serious. But without quality leadership traits and discipline hamstringed himself.

  17. Funny how "expert fans" are calling JJM a "bust" based on OTAs. First, it's clear that the coaching staff is making him work on new footwork and he's still absorbing the playbook. It's not rocket science to assume that KOC's plan involves both the footwork and playbook to become 2nd nature before they force JJM into a game. My guess is 2nd half of this season or week 1 next year at the latest.

Regarding the comps, I'd be surprised if JJM is a bust. He's not on drugs (Manzeil, Leaf), he doesn't have a noodle arm, he's not undersized, he is clearly dedicated to the craft and working as hard as anyone, and in college he had good accuracy and made good decisions, even under pressure in high leverage situations (3rd and long…) Again, we'll see…

  18. McCarthy has the 2nd fastest football thrown in NFL Combine history since they started recording it, 1st was Josh Allen

  19. I think Mahomes is a guaranteed 1 superbowl win. He's on the same level as Aaron Rodgers, great enough to carry a team at least once. Beyond that the organization around him has to step up

  20. I guess by using your logic about the bears never had any success in developing a qb . We can say it's a sure bet the vikings will never win a Super Bowl

  21. Bears have a scary roster, Lyons have added talent… Green Bay made a deep playoff run last year..wow where are we going to fit in? 😮
