hello Jared how’s the weekend uh very happy that uh footy has finished on Mondays and public holidays what was your highlight of the weekend you never come in and talk about being a supporter who do you bar for by the way we bar for Champion data okay we bar for whoever is representing the numbers well Jared and I heard I heard you say this Kane last week or two weeks ago you’re barck for the things that you actually say during the week your opinions 100% you off dangerous doing that yeah yeah absolutely you do so I was baring very hard yesterday for col that we gave them a bit of love a couple of weeks ago and you just also said that they’re far too riant on Peta and gor and the others the others need to step up so yeah so my my team that I Buri for changes quite frequently to to answer that question what I do like about you you’re true to it’s not who they’re playing it’s how they’re playing and uh you’re not worried about injuries as such I mean clearly is a critical point but you were strong that Collingwood were playing a hell of a lot better than Melbourne despite their injuries their method was so much better and you advis strongly to tip Collingwood yeah and yeah you not often you know not all the time that that works but um yeah we did as you know something on this on this show a couple of weeks ago around it’s it’s um it’s how you’re playing not um not the who you’re playing um and full credit to what Conwood are doing at the moment system wins um and they’re in they’re in as good a shape as anyone and um yeah and we’ll touch on them shortly I let’s kick it off with the usual overall observations what do you got for us tonight yeah so sitting back yesterday and watching that game and seeing um you know seeing the dominant performance that Jack Chris put in and um you know no you I no longer believe that he is an underrated player in the competition I think the industry recognizes the performance of this guy and just how good he has been for quite some time and now you know I think we’re appreciating some players you know like a Dylan Moore and Sam Sakowski that um you know that have been ra quite highly for a while and now you’re seeing their performances and I don’t think that they’re underrated as such anymore they’re now elevated and recognized within the industry and and fair enough too so so off the back of of those few players that we’ve just mentioned before I just wanted to run um you know I just wanted to run a few names past the two of you um to see you know who are the next sort of you know potential underrated players at the moment within the industry that might not be in that category in 12 months time 8 months time so their performance is well ahead of their reputation right now yeah and maybe I’m wrong maybe maybe you know they are recognized and appreciated within the industry but just thought I’ll just raise some names give us one Kane that comes to mind for you he’s it may not fall in the right category the first name that come to mind and he’s he’s young so but bod yoland from he he is a serious player like riers he’s gon to be amaz I was I was captivated by what he did now so he’s probably young emerging player more so than someone that’s been around for a while that’s underrated and we we haven’t rated them so but give me a little bit to think about it as you and horny discuss yours horny I’m sure you’ve got some numbers to back up your thoughts yeah and I’m sure um you know a lot of people out there will have their own thoughts as well which is um which is good as well so we’ll start with a player from cywood and I just want to throw up Pat Linsky okay so Pat Linsky currently at the moment is the 51st rated player in the competition he is flying we talked about cywood Orin 6 to eight weeks ago and it was really Nick deos and this guy that were the only top 100 rated players um that they had Bron mayard has now fallen um into that group as well but this guy and just watching him yesterday if you just cast your mind back to yesterday big game you knew Melbourne were going to come out with full steam he’s clean hands to get those two score assists and two score evolvements to start the day the clean hand ball to hosin Elliott then the clean handall to the next goal as well what he does is is high is high impact he doesn’t need too much of the ball 19 disposals and almost a goal a game in the role that he’s playing is going extremely well we saw on the weekend um just gone great list management decision by Caron Elijah Holland so that’s a ripper so you look at yes you look at Carlton heading into this year and you know the best players in the competition you know like a Pat trer and a bond and a deoi and a Martin and Dangerfield and these guys as good as our Midfield group has been for quite some time they didn’t really have that Center forward midfielder um and and now he’s come in and over the last two weeks he is playing that 50/50 mid forward time and and and the game that he had on the weekend that was his highest rated game of the season so yeah so currently he’s a top 70 player in the competition what was the weekends rated uh just over 20 so it was um yeah so he he was superb so that’s another that’s another addition to you know to this Midfield group that Carlton didn’t have previously so you know come back in it looks awfully dangerous and much more multipronged yeah so and then you if we move to another club we moved to gws so I’m going to get into gws conversation a little bit you know later on but there’s a lot of individuals that get recognized within the gws program um and and fair enough as well but this guy behind the footy is you know one of the main reasons that they’re actually competing at the moment and that’s that’s Harry himberg so he’s in the top 25 players in the comp competition this year he’s the second best player at the moment um at gws and his ability to play you know a versatile role he’s played 400 minutes as a key Defender this year and then he’s played 800 minutes as that you know roaming General Defender this year his ability to be able to use the ball and create from behind Center a lot of that Focus has previously gone into Loy Whitfield and fair enough too luy Whitfield season last year was superb this year he’s having nowhere near the same impact Loy Whitfield but this guy at the moment is flying in terms of what he’s doing behind the behind the fooy so I think he’s someone that needs to be recognized um and and have a bit of time spent um into him bit of love for Josh battle over this weekend what is he would he fall into that category what what’s his numbers yeah so Josh battle in terms of his intercept work he’s one of the best interceptors along with Callen wilky at St K probably doesn’t have the absolute damage off the back of those intercepts that some of the best key Defenders or halfback do in the competition he’s going along nicely but I wouldn’t I’m not too sort of you know concerned about him if I’m an opposition coach at the moment give me your Podium with intercept backs that distribute well I assume get McGovern’s one stewart would be two until he starting to get tagged yep so Stuart over the last couple years no one’s generated more scores off the back of their intercept work than what he has and then Nick fl’s another one who’s sort of you know is is really important in that phase 043 98 1116 underrated players send your suggestions through Horn’s giv us his his backed up by numbers um and you can have your side as well read those out there’s just a couple of more that I just want to get through I just want to get through this quickly so trist and Cherry so a couple of years ago if you just cast your M back Kane and G to trade period and S came hard they came hard for this guy and and North held on to him and said no you know we’re going to keep him right now he he’s the fifth best Ruckman in the competition so when he’s a Ruckman he’s having the fifth best impact in the competition he’s good Chase on the way game yeah that was a good Chase wasn’t it so his ability to be able to win contest and clearance um as a Ruckman is up there with some of the better Ruckman in the competition really interested in this guy from Brisbane Darcy Wilmer so I reckon darc wilmart at the moment he’s almost a top 70 player in the competition only Dane Zoro and Harris Andrews are having more impact on matches than what this guy is doing good draft pick in terms of in terms of what he does with ball in hand I’m not sure if you think the same Kane and G but just when he wins it some it just looks like something’s going to happen and something unique is going to happen it’s it’s not just the playing boring options so when he’s exiting D50 this year he’s taking on the second hardest kicks of any player in the competition and more often than not he’s pulling them off and then as a result brisbane’s ball movement this year is top four top five in the competition I just putting this on the I just reckon at some stage over the next 12 to 18 months this guy’s going to be elevated into this Midfield group and to be that little bit of point of difference cuz he is is quite unique and the last one I just want to put on the radar is a hawks player Jack so another you know another really good addition Drive pick but struggled for a long time yeah struggled at go co Hawthorne took a punt on him really good addition to to um you know to their makeup he’s a top 100 player in the competition this year and has actually been quite consistent in three of his last four seasons we we talk a lot on this show and Kane you know we’ve mentioned just how good Hawthorne are at the post clearance contested possession game he is the second best post clearance contested possession player in the competition m not just at Hawthorne in the competition so his ability to be able to hold up behind the footy and then distribute and then impact the game James sisily is a St and he’s having a superb season weddle’s getting a lot of love at the moment Amon and imp and these guys get a lot of love this guy’s got to start getting recognized in terms of the impact that he’s having for Hawthorne behind the footing who’s winning their best and fairest Hawthorne I heard number people say Amon he’s having a good year Amon he’s having a really good year that’s a really good question they’ve actually got yeah big loss for Port adade K cuz he’s exactly what they need probably say d Mo I reckon yeah all right Hawks fans there’s a lot of Hawk talk podcasters listening to this program who would be winning your best and Fest uh Nick Newman’s getting some love uh Louis M from SW Ollie FR olle Florent getting some love Marb old Cho getting some love as well Charlie combin as well hor I I um I pinned a a text before you even came on someone just wanted to clear up something if a player takes a mark and the siren sounds and he kicks the ball back to the Umpire at the end of a quarter they wanted to know I know the answer to this but just your thoughts they wanted to know whether that counts as a possession no that does not counts but if they’re having a shot at goal do you want to job at Champion K doeses it have to score if he’s having a realistic shot a realistic shot at go what if it falls short and he doesn’t make the distance counts it counts sounds that’s the only time it counts if you’re having a realistic shot a bit to me Kane and they’re trying to clarify someone’s put the over and under on disposals and just Fallen Fallen under I’m just impressed with our Kane answer that knew hey uh hor let’s get into your seven main talking points you want to start with the pies yeah so I just want to you know sort of had that conw conversation um you know clearly they have a lot of injuries um at the moment and they’re doing an amazing job to be where they are cons you know considering the um the Personnel that they have on the sidelines but one area of the ground that hasn’t really been affected too much is their back six back seven um and yes Frampton over the last couple of weeks has made the move you know as a key forward in um in place of Brody M but then Charlie Dean’s coming and I thought Charlie Dean’s actually been quite good the last couple of weeks so put Charlie Dean aside so more mayard noble qua and Hal have pretty much been a main stay of this back group for the last six weeks H missed a couple of weeks but it’s been there for the you know four of those six we period and then what you’re’ seeing at the moment this is why you know you’re so bullish in terms of what colly would are going to be able to do and you know why I consider them at the moment the second best team in the competition is that when the opposition start with the footy at any time they are the second hardest team in the competition to actually turn that possession into a score against when you go inside Cony with D50 good luck they are the second hardest team again in the competition to score against their pressure game that’s that’s all you’re hearing so we just you know we hear from Melbourne over the last couple years contest and defense contest and defense swear to God every time you hear you know anyone from Colony would speak in front of the media whether it be players or coaches you’re guaranteed to hear the word pressure four five six times with that interview they are the third best pressure team in the competition in uh over that last six week period I’ll come back to you over over that I won’t I won’t give you some false data G I’ll give you the actual correct data on that so that you know and when you when you have look at this like that’s why you know last year the fact for them to actually win it last year heading into September the defens profile was nowhere near like this and it wasn’t like that for you know a good couple of months heading into it so for the fact for them to you know you know you know to actually gather themselves and then to actually get defensively sound for you know a three or four week period was an amazing effort to the whole footy Club but that there that that there is going to be extremely difficult to beat for anyone if that continues let alone off the back you know their offensive work at the moment is going okay but then then you add to you know the Personnel that you know that then will actually come back into this team over the next you know few weeks it’s perfectly placed at the moment to actually launch and launch with some absolute you know sort of you know genuine substance behind what they’re actually doing that continues with these Personnel issues that’s why they’re still going to be hard to beat and that’s and that’s why you trust desp not actually having their best 22 25 out there at the moment frightening for everyone really they got North this week as well don’t they yeah where do you have them K do you have them well I I was doubting them for no other reason than the Personnel issues and I thought the the issues that they had weren’t sort of shortterm it wasn’t as if to hamy he be back in tour three it was bit of question over tooi pendley was longer term Mitchell who knows if he’ll play I mean he’s on a scooter at the moment with one foot that he can’t put any weight on so the injuries that they had were longterm so I thought how are they going to get through this but now it’s a completely different story after seeing what they did yesterday I thought they were pretty good against the Bulldogs as well off the back of to Perth and and one day less break than what the Bulldogs had so yeah so Brisbane at the moment so they their profiles actually switched a little bit over the last six weeks so so the first seven you know eight weeks of the year they were holding out really well defensively for you know the mad of matches it was their inability to connect going inside 50 was their inability to be able to get bang for buck off the entries that’s completely flipped now over the last six weeks and now this is a Brisbane profile that we have been familiar with over the last you know four to five years so there’s no more damaging team with ball in hand over the last six weeks than Brisbane there’s no better ball movement team in the competition over the last six weeks than Brisbane and now they have the second best Ford 50 in the competition after having the third worst Ford 50 in the competition and their accuracy’s gone from 18th to mid-table that’s all it needed to get to is just get just get out of that 18th bracket and get to that mid table bracket and sometimes you sit there and we talked about this four five six weeks ago that not to panic longer term if you’re Brisbane it’s yes it’s frustrating and it’s disappointing with what’s happening but the longer term pitcher is not to panic sometimes with these injuries yeah you unearth players that potentially would not have got exposed if the injuries didn’t exist and there’s two that come straight to mind I’m not too sure what you guys think of these two but Logan Morris over the last CP over the last couple of weeks is showing some significant signs that I’d assume he’s going to be the rising star tomorrow yeah I couldn’t tell you who else there is but he over the last six weeks he’s the fourth best key for in the competition Swan halfway through the game this kid’s a RI and he just makes good decisions with ball in hand you know what else helps when Eric hiwood plays like 2008 buddy Franklin like what what what what is going on there that was unbelievable golf between that and and well done to him so firstly tip your hat it’s as good and competitive game as I’ve ever seen and as good a key forwards game as we’ve seen this year the bad is how can you go from that and we’re not expecting that every week to touching the footy six times a game like I said last year he’s got more years left on his contract then he gets disposals and it was actually spot on and then he turns a performance like that where he has 20 and kicks six and competes like you wouldn’t believe where did I’m surprised they didn’t give him I’m surprised they didn’t B the lock yeah I thought hipwood was the best player in the round y 100% And and then the other one too is um is Bruce Revel on the wing as well so now so you look at Revel on the wing and he’s he’s a top 10 Winger since making his debut and then that then allows them to use a Jared Barry on a Marcus bonell on the weekend where he has been you know predominantly played as that Winger so then all all a sudden this Ford 5050 looks more dangerous because they’re back to having six seven genuine options in that Ford 50 they found another Winger in Bruce reel as well they’ve been able to utilize Barry in a different role you know you guys was talking about taggers across the competition whether or not Barry does that moving forward but now they’ve got more options at their disposal that you know they didn’t have you know 13 weeks ago so yes there are injuries everyone’s got injuries at the moment but sometimes you can turn that around into a positive an unearth um you know some individuals that you might not have given chances to if um if they didn’t exist K not be stagged if uh the lines don’t continue with Barry as a tager when you consider the job he did on Oliver when Oliver was Oliver and the job he did on bont when the bont’s the bont I just think to myself why would you go away from that as another part of your Midfield uh troop yeah so the thing that I think works for them it’s almost like a psychological boost where okay we’ve and I I’ve experienced this myself it’s it’s not just Barry versus bond it’s it’s Brisbane Lions versus bond and it’s the Target that you have on one player and it’s that single-mindedness to make this a really difficult night and you could see the Ys you could see the aggro from Brisbane and you could see Liber lose his cool and give three kicks away Barry himself got four fre kicks and then that disrupts everything then you’ve got the coaches box going what are we going to do with bont we going to send him forward he goes for oh perfect we got Bond and P forward yep he kicked three goals but you’ve got him out of the center bounce then you can rely on the others like good luck to Riley Sanders as good as he’s going to be but who would you rather Bond or Riley Sanders in the center B that’s the things that it does when you do that now they play some ker this week is there anyone from the saints that Barry is an ideal match probably not like you wouldn’t bother tagging still he’s not a great match up for Hill who’s he’s not going to go to wangan Miller who’s probably their most dangerous he may go to Sinclair but once again I don’t think that’s a so may not be every week and they may not need it this week but when you have a performance like that it’s the tough Target for the whole team not just for the player and to me that’s when brisban play their best yeah yeah I’m with you Kan in terms of this week I’m not sure you know if you know if they’re going to send someone to him but just to be able to have that when needed um you know is a point of difference for him someone to Winger yeah yeah whether that’s the right one or not but yeah I’d be shut this that inside Center bounce you know lock down sort of tagger quick word on the bombers horny yeah so I called him during the week sorry um post a Sunday game the ID and demons um on the weekend um it just looked like it was a melbour game on the weekend so the inside 50s and then just the lack of return for it so to create 38 for half intercepts which is off the charts and then to only get one goal off the back of that was a little bit disappointing but if I’m ident what you saw on the weekend against Carlton it’s further proof that this team has changed and has changed for the better you play like that you play like that they are absolutely in the hunt to get to prelimary final weekend so if they had have taken their chances in front of goal they win that game by two goals so right now their Prof predicted score yeah two goal so right now their profile on both sides of the ball is top six in terms of getting scoreboard return and their ball movement game on both sides of the ball is top six in the competition there’s no one else that has that profile at the moment over the last six weeks jeez bourie mad bomber bourie he’ll be pretty excited to hear that wonder he can get the guest who clue out in 20 seconds horny it’s a team guess who this week across the season who has scored the third most points of any team from their back half which team has scored the third most points from their back half across the season Jared who do you think I have no idea why the third most it’s a story I want to get into it’s a discussion I want to get into it’s not so obvious which is uh back I wonder yeah I was going to say I’ve had a few questions yeah had a few come through I’ve had Jalan come through Adela come through Brisbane Foo I haven’t had a St K one you got one for his have you had a North Melbourne uh no we haven’t had a North melbour probably fair enough uh we had um a Hawthorne Hawthorne no Hawthorne aren’t there no there no the pies aren’t there either but I’ll uh I’ll give you a round of applause G because you’ve got it right St kilder so so the reason why I wanted to throw this up and this is the reason for the guesso tonight is just you know and and Joey did this um you know a couple of weeks ago on AFL 360 Just Around how St K actually play and the narrative around around them and what to look for this Friday night coming up against um against brisban so so Sydney you’re number one in terms of scoring out of their back half Adel number two um s number three and jonga number four so we’ve mentioned on this show all year that we’ve talked about four half four half four D four half game for 10 15 years but the reality is over four of the last five premiers have been number one at scoring out of the back half so you need to have that ability to be able to get out when the game’s going against you and actually get some sort of scoreboard return so we have a look at the last six weeks with what we talk about a lot on this show St kilder in terms of how they move the ball is almost identical to the best team in the competition in Sydney and no one questions um you know Sydney’s offensive ball movement ter a reason for that I’m going to have I’m going to have to push back hor I’m going to have to hang on let’s make his argument no I I like the push back give us your argument so in terms of how often they go forward they don’t go forward as as much as some other teams in the competition but either to Sydney they don’t kick as long as what as what um as what some teams in the competition do but either to Sydney in terms of the average meters gained that they get per kick 25 meters per kick Sydney 25 meters per kick their Ball moving in terms of moving it from one end of the ground to the other last six weeks fifth in the comp Sydney fourth in the comp the one difference between the two is that Sydney are taking the fifth easiest kicks going inside 50 St ker are taking the third hardest kicks going inside 50 the connection piece going sydne number one as a result of taking the easier kicks inside 50 s kilder at 18th in the competition for taking it for taking inside 50 on on speed though like CU my my objection would be Sydney are taking the easier option inside 50 cuz they move the ball quicker so that easier option presents whereas I watch the Saints in the eye would tell you gee they move it they move it slow and everyone gets back so by the time they’re ready to kick it inside 50 every opposition player has plugged the hole and then they’re forced to take the hard kick I don’t know if you’ve got to measure on actual like time on a clock of how how quickly they’re moving the ball great question two-part answer we’re currently actually working on a ball movement speed um you know sort of metric which I’ll hopefully be able to drop on this show in a few weeks time which will absolutely have the proper answer to that going exclusive well we go exclusive on this show don’t we we give you guys the best so we’ll give you guys first dabble at that few weeks for me is so if the if they’re averaging 70 points a game which is I don’t know fourth worst only sort of North Richmond West Coast score fewer points than the Saints and they’re the third most scores from their back half where are they not scoring from where also where are they breaking down completely in elsewhere areas the connection their Connection in the fourth half of the ground so you talk about you have a look at their at their personal I think we could all agree their two or three best ball users uh Hill Wang Malera and Sinclair they’re all mainly back half players so you know there’s been a lot of discussion around around wangan Malera and and at what stage do you move him like a Harry sheel potentially do you actually move him to be that half Creator um you know or do you actually just leave him where he is he’s having great impact on the game he’s no one has greater impact on the game through their field kicking than what this guy does surprised he hasn’t been tagged and it’ll come do you actually look to move him in the forward half of the ground do you look to actually move sincl in the fourth half of the ground because they had the talent there the one that’s going to be interesting watch is Liam Henry so they’re using Liam Henry in this High half role he missed you know best part of almost two months of the Season through that hamstring injury started the year really well starting to come back into it now could he be that connector going inside 50 you talked about ID before we talked about their lack of connection going inside 50 looked so much different when Nick Martin was actually deployed in that role and get a creative ball user not easier said than done but they do have you know a potential to have a look at it so it I it’s not through a lack of want to be boring and controlled and sort of set up behind the ball they actually have a little bit of speed on the game and they’re moving it with a little bit of aggression and some success the lack of talent and the lack of talent to find those really clear and obvious options in the fourth half is a massive Distributors just down on a couple couple of uh absolute AG Riders would make a huge difference yeah one or two would make a big difference a lot of a response to the Collingwood stroke uh competitive balance issue lot of text coming through can you just explain that a little bit more closely it’s a really dangerous territory for me to get pretty self-explanatory is it it’s a really dangerous so just hypothetical if it’s a Sydney V Conwood Grand Final Conwood are playing Seven of their last eight games of the Home and Away season at the G and Sydney could potentially Rock up to the MCG Grand final day and haven’t played there since April yeah and and just just check out collingwood’s record at the G as well they they said it yesterday during the call Craig mccrae’s actual record the MCG frightening frightening and the last time Sydney at the MCG they played against jalong who played there a bit more than Sydney and found out clearly it’s a it’s a it’s a huge Advantage just as Richmond had had their for all those years um what about the Giants I cannot I cannot wrap my head around what is happening to team at the moment are they good or not no at the moment it is um yeah with being a little bit of respect it’s a horrible profile at the moment so we talk a lot on this on this show and we’ll keep talking about the turnover game that is the game that you need to excel in first eight weeks of the year they were the number one team in the competition at getting scoreboard return off turnover the next six weeks they are the worst team in the competition put that into context that has never happened before in our 25 years of of doing this we’ve never seen in the One season a team go from number one in 8we Period to number six yeah sorry to the worst team of the competition turn around coincide with uh Tom Stewart being tagged gws oh sorry GW gws yeah so so and so there’s a couple of reasons to this like and you know Kane I know you probably can’t comment on this but if Sam Taylor’s name gets thrown up as an all Australian player at the moment it’s just wrong you’re going to SP you’re going to spew up it’s just not right it would be based on reputation so he last year he’s a top 20 player in the competition would have been a walk up if he had have actually qualified this year he’s outside the top 100 and you see the role that Jack Gunston played on him on the weekend so important four intercepts from Sam Taylor like it’s it’s unheard of Lucky Whitfield heading into finals last year was on fire we talked about him potentially being an all Australian player he was the 23rd best player in the competition last year he’s 155th at the moment so you know and he’s been targeted too so you’re just getting no and then and then you think about so you know we just you know um you know gave a bit of praise to Harry herberg um before but then you at those two behind the footy and then you look at some of their connectors and midchain sort of players bedford’s just not having anywhere near the same impact that he had last year like you’re not even noticing him at times Finn Callahan gets a a big rap and I’m a I’m a big rap for him longer term but the reality is at the moment we’re just judging 2024 performance he’s not the player at the moment that’s been able to impact games what we you know potentially all thought and then clearly Toby green at the moment is just having the year that you know no one could actually see coming so it’s an amazing it’s an amazing turnaround it’s hard to wrap your head around and just for their sake it’s you’re happy for their sake that it’s round 13 and not round 18 round 19 because this is going to take some sort of you know whether yeah it’s going to take a lot to correct this profile they can we saw what they did back they about I know they it might have been a few weeks prior to this and they probably got themselves going by this point in the year but what in terms of a win loss point of view where were they at after round or 13 games last year they were five they were five and eight five and eight heading in at this stage of where they were but everyone tells me that yeah who’s going to be the Caron who’s going to be the gws of this year what Caron and gws did last year was unheard of like so you don’t just sit back and just assume oh you know well they’re going to be car gws this year like it’s not it’s not rare that that happens Jimmy Bartell showed some pretty damning work rate issues if if if their mids sorry their role players aren’t working back into defense and their Counterattack players are getting stifled as in uh Whitfield and Sam Taylor there’s a bit going wrong Ash and Kelly have heard as well Kelly’s a huge out Kelly’s a massive out but you know we’re seing with cwood they’ve got injuries as well and other teams have got injuries and you just get through Gahan against Brisbane Lions about round six or seven yeah that was as good a game as I’ve seen this year and uh he’s just fallen off Planet big game this week hor put out La the last game I don’t know who knows what happens in Game let’s talk about the cats yeah so I don’t know what you guys thought I actually thought that was jong’s best performance for six weeks against Sy the reality was like you know and you just talked about how powerful Sydney were it was amazing it was just Gob smack how good how good are this team but the reality is that this this team came up against what everyone knows is the best team in the competition by a long way on their home deck and with 3 minutes to go trailing by two goals M they did a lot right and they play like that they play like that they’re going to be they’re going to be there b us to challenge for you know a top six a top six position but you know we talked about a couple of weeks ago right now they are such an easy team to work out if they’re going to be good or if they’re going to be bad and it’s all to do with pressure 250 in the first quarter no no it wasn’t that high but two but when their pressure is good they are in it and as good as anyone else in the competition their pressure was red hot for 45 minutes 5 point lead next 75 minutes drops to 160 below average to poor Sydney get return graic Sydney get return I think you have to check the eyes there I know 250 but I just want to just put a player I just want to put a player on watch if we can and the Sam ding so Sam ding in 2022 was lorded and rightly so for what he did he was AFL number seven intercept marker in the competition in really his first year in the system playing key defense he’s 66th in the competition at the moment and this group at the their D50 is the worst defensive 50 in the competition for 6 weeks after being the second best in the competition they’re the easiest or second easiest team to beat in a one-on-one uh in a one-on-one contest after being the second hardest Tom Stewart is getting a lot of attention and everyone knows that that’s obvious but some of these other guys need to pick up a bit of slack Jack Henry’s going well but this guy you know Joel Marti on the weekend looks so dangerous Samson Ryan the week before looked so dangerous this guy just needs to get going he’s going to have a big game in two weeks time just putting him on watch if it was in the gun segment in the gun segment that you and him do so you and kingy do Kan he be fair yeah mat Lloyd last night on footy classified I think he said need to toughen up and and he showed some vision of that and basically said exactly that horny because Tom Stewart has been taken care of and the attention has gone there he’s got to be the one that he hasn’t been and and lordo wouldn’t go that lightly he’s he just wants him to to toughen up a little bit and and your numbers solidify those comments last night what about the crows what what is going on is it fixable or not cor boring crows and I don’t know why so I think everyone last year really enjoyed the way that they played they played aggressive footy chaotic footy there was no sort of real control in their games in terms of where they sat for marks last year only 88 marks per game on average last year which was you know bottom four bottom five in the competition so the ball was in motion we talked a lot about the similarities between how they played and Conwood played for you know a lot of last year balls in motion chaos great to watch last three weeks they’ve taken 100 plus marks they took 113 marks against against Richmond for what 41 46 entries whatever it was and they took 100 you know 100 plus marks against Hawthorne for 41 entries their two best games or you know their two best wins this year against po L and carton where they’re around about that 100 Mark average and then one of the best games of footy that we’ve watched this year was against brisban and they took 60 or 57 marks for the game just I think you know with through a lack of confidence but you don’t want to see adelay playing this controlled game they don’t control and possess the footy like a Sydney or a brisbon do they don’t have the skill to be able to do that get creative get more dare and take away this game I don’t want to see three figure marks for Adelaide I want to see 70 80 and get the chaos and get the pressure back into your game

  1. Darcy Wilmot is like a mini Blakey, he's an absolute jet going forward whenever he gets the ball. He's been an absolute jet his entire time playing so far. Logan Morris is insane for how young he is, with Kai Lohmann too. Morris is a good contested mark and setshot but he's probably the best key forward in the comp when the ball hits the ground already. Also love how Berry didnt tag dirty either, he wasnt hitting bont or whacking him behind play, he just made sure to stay close to him and make it hard for him to get the ball cleanly

  2. As a Collingwood fan I knew the list was old and wanted McRae to accept it, blood youth and start rejuvenating.

Take the losses now to build for the future.

Except… McRae is playing young’uns and half the list is injured and we’re still playing really well.

Not complaining but I don’t really know how things are going so well.

  3. I laugh at all the Blues supporters believing that their the number 2 seed. It's Collingwood for mine and by some margin. And unfortunately for my team Sydney, we may end up 3+ wins ahead of the Pies at the end of the season and still have to travel down to their home ground to play the ground final. A national competition this ain't. Gil sought to that by locking it in at the MCG until 2037, and possibly 2057! Insane lack of vision.

  4. if lipinski is truly on the list of most underrated i will officially lose all respect for champion data. i was watching the pies on monday and paying close attention to lipinski and i’ve noticed this every time i’ve seen him play but his ball use is genuinely fucking horrendous. like he is an incredibly unskillful player. i was literally thinking imagine how much hate he would get if he played for richmond. much like taranto… and now 2 days later champion data is (potentially) claiming he’s underrated when he’s not even badly rated suggesting champion data rates him as a very good player.

  5. Hoyney Summed Up
"In terms of handball receives from a post-clearance contested possession, this player is the 47th best player in the competition when going on to take a running bounce when under a pressure rating of 1.6 or higher."

  6. St Kilda scoring , by running the ball out of the opposition's forward line. Yes true . But …. Generally after their opposition has kicked 3 goals, and then , kicked a behind. So that's when StKilda gets an easy possession. They're good at keeping the ball in the opposition's forward line , that's their 90% effective stat 😂😂😂
Manangatang's 2nd 18 could beat the Saints , sorry no offence intended ' tang crew

  7. Coming to an AFL comment section is, i imagine, very similar to visiting a high-dependence psychiatric ward for a look around. Delusional people everywhere who are fixated on their own version of reality regardless of the facts that go against it.
Not all of you; some great insights on here as well.

  8. Sydney beat Collingwood at the MCG in round two. Between 2014 and 2022 Sydney did not play Collingwood in Melbourne at all, meanwhile Collingwood made the trek to Sydney every year for two decades until 2022.
If Sydney was serious about playing in front of large crowds at the MCG they would ask for more matches there against clubs like Collingwood instead of easy games at the SCG year after year.

  9. Collingwood's defence didn't look as good last year cause we played much riskier football when we were going forward (relatively) safe in the knowledge that Moore and Murphy could intercept or get a stoppage when we turn it over in a bad position.

This year we're playing with more caution (for most of the game anyway) going forward to protect our defense which isnt the same without Murphy

  10. Daniel Hoyne: "Brisbane are back on track. There's no more damaging team ball-in-hand over the last six weeks than Brisbane".

Seriously. They had a day out against a VFL Richmond side a few weeks ago. They are 13th on the ladder and don't have a single win on the board against a side in the top 8. The media declare them back in the premiership race after every win they have, and they invariably lose the following week. They are nowhere near it.

  11. NFI why they are talking up Essendon lol. look at that percentage? ladder predictor barely has them in the 8 at the end of the season

  12. haha the look on Hoyney's face when Gerard asked about Tom Stewart being tagged as the reason for GWS struggling

  13. Spelling isn’t you strong suit, either is Intelligence, Carlton has played every team in the top ten, and only lost 3 games with their three best back men out, plus one of the hardest draws in the AFL……….Not given a Sweetheart deal like Sydney………..and also a dozen Injuries………the Blues are the Real Deal, so suck it up.
